Previously on TAR, 9 teams continued traveling through Indonesia! At a live double U-Turn vote, Jon & Ana and Scott & Lori each received a devastating blow. Carson & Jack celebrated staying under the radar while Nick & Mike struggled and drove themselves coconuts, but it was Brett & Mark who triumphed. Jon & Ana felt the heat, but Scott & Lori were cut loose. Teams will be traveling into Dubai with a photo finish ending.

Brett & Mark depart 1st at 3:55 A.M. Fly to Dubai! Phil mentions the Fast Forward is returning!

Brett & Mark are going to another travel agency, Abbey Travel, whoohoo! Mark realizes all the teams will be on the same flight.

Carson & Jack depart 2nd at 4:04. They love that they are slipping by and Jack feels like a FF is coming with a positive twist.

Alyssa & Josiah depart 3rd at 4:09. Josiah is excited to see Dubai and Alyssa wants to maintain the energy.

Pops & Jeff depart 4th a few minutes after and Jeff (younger) describes his upbringing with his dad.

Jeff 2x are excited to do stuff in the desert while Vegas performers, DnD, and Alyssa & Josiah arrive. Han & Holden depart 5th. Han is excited to "make it out of Asia". Melinda & Erika depart in 6th. Erika is relieved the double U-Turn saved them. Nick & Mike depart in 7th. They are going for number one today. Jon & Ana depart in last, and Ana wants to get back in the top of the pack again. They feel like meeting up with DnD again will be awkward as they were U-Turned by them. They have a bit of bad blood with each other.

We get a food court confrontation. Carson & Jack and Alyssa & Josiah share a tense moment with Ana by herself next to a ramen menu board. Everyone is boarding a Batik Air flight to Dubai. Jeff 2x says it's crazy how the group has shrunk. Josiah wants to turn the competition up a notch. The plane is off!

Jo & anna vs carson & jack is finally on. Kinda a little ofd to see them as a low radar team when they are the best team on the race so far

We come back to towering Dubai shots. Teams must make their way to Platinum Desert Heritage Gate and pick out a coffee cup at a marked Bedouin camp of 5:10 or 5:20 A.M. as their departure time the following morning.

And a rush of the 8 teams coming out of the airport to the taxi stand!! Mark asks the taxi driver what he loves most about the city, they think he said "Wiz Khalifa".

Carson & Jack and Alyssa & Josiah drive by camels in the night, smelling camel poop and desert.

Aly & Josiah arrive at the cups first and choose the earliest one. All other teams running in with Han & Holden and Jon & Ana picking the earliest. Carson & Jack pick 5:10 as well.

Josiah says it was awesome to have the drummers greeting them in such a special way. Melinda & Erika, Jeff 2x, Brett & Mark, and Nick & Mike are left with 5:20 A.M. times. Nick & Mike aren't stressed because they are leaving with three other teams in the same situation. Everyone is tucking in for the night. "We had dinner, now we are having desert." - Josiah. "The dad jokes never stop."

Group 1 leave by camelback through the hazy desert scene. Carson & Jack feel this is the epitome of their nerd-dom. Han & Holden feel sad they couldn't share this experience with their sister.

Group 2 at 5:20 in a more HQ scene. Group 1 is caught up in fog. They pick up the next clue and the box.

ROADBLOCK: Who wants to drop into Dubai?
One team member must skydive about the Palm Jumeirah Island and meet up with their non-performing partner. They will then decide if they want to go for the Fast Forward. Oh, interesting, post-Roadblock.

All teams are essentially arriving at the same time.

Melinda and Pops are both talking about their skydive thrills. Jack, Holden, Aly, and Ana are on the first plane - now there's a more disparate split. Brett, Nick, Pops, and Melinda are on the second plane. Group 1 is over the island already while Group 2 is taking off.

Josiah is more worried about Alyssa than himself and is a little freaked out despite not doing this task.

So far very linear and a ot of bunch points. Wonder if the FF is hard enough that might actually be better to do the other challenges, or if it will be breeze a help someone take the leg.

Jack takes the first plunge and he is in the sky!

Holden makes a chipmunk expression as he heads out of the plane.

Alyssa and Ana dive next! Teams at the Palm Jumeirah landing zone are pointing out their teammates' dots in the sky.

Jack is the first to land and gets the clue. Holden lands right after. Alyssa comes down excited with Josiah crying with Jeff 2x speaking for them. Josiah is speechless with how happy he is.

FAST FORWARD: Find the orange luxury Audi and take a deep scuba dive to retrieve the next clue.

Han & Holden are trying to find the car and are having no luck.

We come back to our first Fast Forward since... Team Fun?

Han and Holden are searching while Carson & Jack immediately get into the car in front of them. "Dam it, we were so close!" - Han.

Alyssa & Josiah rip open the route info clue instead. ROUTE INFO: Atlantis The Royal.

Carson & Jack are excited for the scuba. Meanwhile, Group 2 is ready to dive.

Brett describes the gravity and pressure on his face not allowing him to stick out his tongue. Pops, Nick, and Melinda follow through!

Brett lands and Mark yells to get his butt over there. Nick receives the clue right after with Pops saying the only thing he wants to do left is bungee jump. Mel lands and says the dive was beautiful! Back 4 teams going to Atlantis.

Alyssa & Josiah and Han & Holden arrive at the Atlantis hotel first, tipping their drivers. It's a sprint to the box. Jon & Ana are 3rd at the box.

ROUTE INFO: Prepare afternoon tea, assembling a pastry display, to receive the next clue.

Meanwhile, Brett & Mark pass Mike & Nick. Jeff 2x also pass them with Nick having no luck telling their taxi driver to maintain their position.

Vegas, New York, Jeff 2x, and Mel all arrive at the hotel. It's too many pastry chefs in the kitchen now.

Carson & Jack arrive at Deep Dive Dubai and say goodbye to the Audi drive. Phil reveals more about this task - find the hidden FF plaque hidden in this replica of a sunken city, an Atlantis if you say.

Nick & Mike have catching up to do and are trying to learn from their mistakes.

Alyssa & Josiah finish their display and go see Chef Kristoff. The lobster roll-looking things are wrong in the middle. "Chef Kristoff is not playing games." - Josiah.

Jeff 2x wants to get this done efficiently and quickly and the younger Jeff says this is a little bit of a different pace for them.

Carson & Jack are going through the training steps. Jack reveals his mother is a certified recreational scuba diver.

Han says Holden would plagiarize her projects back in school as they are adorning the pastries.

Nick & Mike joke around being in the kitchen back home while Alyssa & Josiah find their mistake with the gold leaf and flakes.

Alyssa & Josiah got it! They receive the clue. ROUTE INFO: Burj Al Arab Public Beach to pick up the next clue.

Mel & Erika say it might be more stressful having teams chase than catching up with them. Jon & Ana pass their dessert test and are leaving in 2nd.

Han & Holden whisper to call for a check while Jon & Ana say their next destination to their taxi driver. Han is crushing on Chef Kristoff. They get their clue in 3rd.

"We should've watched more baking shows." - Erika.

Carson & Jack begin their dive into the endless abyss.  We get random shots of peculiar objects placed in the deep sea adventure. Brett & Mark go for a check and pass! They leave in 4th.

Nick used the wrong topping for the finger sandwiches while Mel & Erika are getting a check. They leave in 5th. Jeff 2x drop a cupcake on the carpet as they bring it to Kristoff. Oh no.

Nick & Mike are approved right behind and leave in 6th. Jeff 2x are in last and younger Jeff says they got to get out of this hotel.

We come back to Jeff 2x getting their just deserts for dropping a cupcake on bougie carpet. Younger Jeff prepares the new cupcake and is back in it. They leave in 7th (Carson & Jack haven't finished the FF yet) to the beach.

Speaking of whom, Jack sees the FF plaque on the pool table and go back up to surface. ROUTE INFO: Pit Stop: Museum of the Future. FF winners get to ride the orange Audi there.

Alyssa & Josiah tip their taxi driver and arrive at the beach. SECOND ROADBLOCK: Who's ready to ride a wave?
One team member must ride an e-foil through a water course to receive their next clue.

Jack hopes there is a Detour with sweaty manual labor, unaware of the rest of the leg. Han & Holden and Jon & Ana arrive at the second RB. Josiah and Han are doing the task. The instructor gives some tips and tricks before and after Josiah gets directly into the water.

Oh, so this is basically an upgraded version of the previous leg's surfboard Roadblock. Josiah mentions having some experience after moving to California of getting the groove of surfing. Seems like Han is going to rock this while "The Terminator"/Jon is coming to do the challenge.

Han mentions she knows how to surf and Alyssa is glad she did the skydive. Brett & Mark arrive with Mark needing to do the task. "Someone is cooking right now." - Holden. It is Jonathan.

Carson & Jack arrive at the Pit Stop! They are TEAM NUMBER ONE and win an Alaskan cruise from Vancouver through the Alaskan Panhandle. (I've been on this cruise before, ). They believe they are on the chopping block for any other negative twists.

Mark is progressing while Mel & Erika arrive at the second RB. Erika is doing this one.

Josiah is performing the task and tries the real thing. He can't stand all the way up and falls.

Nick & Mike and Jeff 2x are 7th and last. Nick & Mike are having a bit of an issue deciding who wants to do the task.

Han is giving it a go and she is making this look like pie! Han & Holden receive the clue! Holden gives reassurance to Nick & Mike and Jeff in the background, but New York mentions them being tied for last to his astound.

Han & Holden rip open the clue. ROUTE INFO: Take a metrorail from the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station to the Museum of the Future, the Pit Stop. Last team to arrive WILL be eliminated.

Josiah falls JUST before the end of the course.

Erika is getting in the water as well as the other guys. Josiah says if this was a vacation, he would be getting this quickly. However, the circumstances of the race persist. He is absolutely worried.

We return to Mark flipping over with Jonathan splashing. Josiah wants to calm down and take another focused attempt. He is slowly, but surely, gets the board under control. Alyssa & Josiah are off from the RB. Erika almost takes the surfboard into heaven while Jeff is splashing. Mark is still struggling. Jonathan wants to go for another try.

Mark is getting the real thing down, but splashes near the end. Jonathan also drops right before the end of the course.

Mark's second attempt is more successful with Brett narrating in the background. "That's my baby, that's my baby." - Brett. They are off from the RB.

More splashing from everyone before Erika accomplishes the task very quick. Mel is proud of her. Vegas is leaving the beach with a hug to the peanut gallery.

Younger Jeff almost has it, but falls right before the end. Jonathan takes a 2nd attempt and falls just after the full course's completion. Whew. Nick falls. It's just down to Pops & Jeff and New York. Jon & Ana leave the RB in 6th.

"America, do you love my sunglasses?" - Holden. "They're our mom's." - Han. /side eye from the taxi driver/

Han & Holden arrive at the metro station at the mall. Meanwhile, the Jeffs are trying to keep up. Younger Jeff gets it done! He receives the clue. Mike is disheartened while Pops & Jeff quickly read the clue and rush out of there. Nick's mind went into "we're going to get eliminated in Dubai" mode.

Happy there are more travelling to the pit stop. Not just a taxi ride.
Must assume that early episode tease, might be some sort of foot race between teams to the mat.

We come back to Nick being in last motivating him to finish. They are out of there. "He looks like he's in Baywatch right now." They are off.

Han & Holden board the metro and point out the station they have to get out. The Jeffs hope the New Yorkers aren't on the same train they are planning on getting on.

Alyssa & Josiah board the metro, checking if it's the right one. Mel & Erika are caught in traffic while Brett & Mark arrive at the metro station and board. Jon & Ana pick up tickets at the counter with Mel & Erika catching up to them. They board on the same pod.

Jeff 2x and New York both arrive with Pops & Jeff getting tickets while Nick & Mike are trying to get there as walking as much as possible. Jeff (younger) nearly gets his hand chopped off from the closing metro gate.

Nick & Mike get to the station and buy tickets while Jeff (younger) is absolutely not having it waiting for the next train and their now-rivals.

We return to the madness awaiting us. "We gotta get on this train." - Pops. "They're already coming, man." They board separate pods before Nick & Mike size them up. "We're tied for last right now. This is crazy." - Nick. Brett & Mark are leisurely sitting while Jon & Ana and Melinda & Erika point out they have to pay attention to where they are running.

Han & Holden arrive at the MotF station and check out the inside of the museum. They arrive at the Pit Stop and are TEAM NUMBER TWO! Alyssa & Josiah run up from behind and are TEAM NUMBER THREE.

Pops & Jeff don't want to worry so much while Brett & Mark arrive at the Pit Stop as TEAM NUMBER FOUR. "You got your inhaler ready?" - Mike.

Jon & Ana and Melinda & Erika arrive at the Pit Stop as TEAMS NUMBER FIVE and SIX. Oh, I thought they would be part of the foot race as well.

And now we have our race horses: Pops & Jeff vs. Nick & Mike.

And... it's a crazy sprint! They go to the non-exit and turn the other direction. Nick & Mike are TEAM NUMBER SEVEN by the skin of their teeth, Pops trailing a little behind sadly, and Pops & Jeff are the last team to arrive and unfortunately have been eliminated from the race. Pops & Jeff show a lot of gratitude and describe this is the most challenging and fun activity they've done together. "I actually got to see him fly today." - Jeff (younger)

It's funny how Phil mentioned that something new is made every time that they visit considering that Deep Dive Dubai, Atlantis Royal, and the Museum of the Future were not even built when they last visited in 2018. Much like during 35, the number of tasks is starting to increase during the sixth leg to accommodate 90 minutes. They kept the teams together with some usual desert activities until the end of the first Roadblock. This does lead to a minor gripe where, much like the last appearance of the Fast Forward on 29, one of the first teams to finish would be the only one who could even travel to the fast Forward. Most of the risk for this Fast Forward came down to time and not being able to talk. The rest of the leg managed to remain hard while keeping the teams roughly together. The addition of the subway was also the only way we were getting that final footrace that killed Pops & Jeff.

Also, am I the only one who thinks it's a bit racist for an Asian like Han to not consider the Middle East Asia?  My mom told me that there are some Asians who don't consider Arabs to be of their same race or geography.

I wonder how often Dubai gets visited for its activities and locations versus being one of the best connection points for air travel between Europe, Africa, and Asia. I suppose it's a little of A and a little of B.

I agree. I'm not going to complain about seeing the Fast Forward again after a long absence, but I wish it could be used better as a Race device. The last few times we've seen it it's been "hey, there's a really cool adventure task in this location that we're visiting, but it would be too impractical (or too expensive?) for all teams to do it, so let's put in a Fast Forward so that just one team can do it." Makes for good TV to see the activity incorporated, but it would be better to see some strategy and competition involved, ideally.

Carson & Jack were destined to win the Fast Forward, given the color of their team's shirts.

The description of the culinary ARI sounded much more like an advertisement than task descriptions usually do. Did anyone else get that vibe?

Sad to see my two favorite teams go out two weeks in a row, especially the way they did. If only Jeff didn't pull his arm out of the door!

This was better for Dubai legs I guess but I just wish they'd stop visiting Dubai. Feel like there's so many better places to visit in the Middle East or places that work well as connectors. If they were going for the Middle East, a visit back to Oman would have so much more culture (and I've been yearning for that sand oven task from TAR 9 as a Switchback). Or a much awaited return to Egypt. If they were going for a connector (like Pi suggested), Turkey is really good for that. I'm personally just tired of constant visits to Dubai and the tasks are basically "look at these things you can do in a rich person's playground" because I feel one of the best things this show does is expose people to other cultures.

I also agree with Pi about the FF. It was cool to watch but not much difficulty or extreme such as eating a bowl of bugs or forcing teams to shave their heads (not asking for that one though because that is overdone).

What I do appreciate is that leg structure, which is something that this season and TAR 35 have seemed to improved on compared to the 5-10 seasons before it.
