Previously on TAR, 7 teams raced through Montevideo, Uruguay! Vinny shined at the RB, but later sparked fuel against Amber. The need for navigation helped Angie & Danny and hurt Sunny & Bizzy. A stellar Detour performance put Ricky & Cesar back in 1st. Juan & Shane stumbled, but in the end, Sunny & Bizzy flamed down.

All teams flying into Bridgetown, Barbados!

Always a fun leg with torrential weather. Cesar wears a face mask while their cars are absolutely soaked. They start putting up their plastic covers for the jeeps.

We come back to Group 2 of Rod & Leticia and Amber & Vinny departing. "Aw damn, it's freaking wet." - Amber. "It's drenched." - Leticia. "It's crazy. We're out here in the rain." - Rod. Amber is learning a lot about Vinny and vice versa. They begin having indecisiveness with directions in the jeep while it's precipitating.

Rod says Leticia isn't used to this kind of environment, but is taking the experience as a champ. They are having a good time finding a group of guys to ask for directions. Amber & Vinny stop at a barber and ask a man getting a haircut.

Oh my gosh, I love this leg already.

Both teams hooking up the car hoods. Meanwhile, Juan & Shane and Melissa & Yvonne leave from Group 3. The girlfriends ask a shop vendor.

They receive directions while Juan & Shane immediately jump into their jeeps. The pilots miss their families, but are focused on getting the race done. Juan gets drenched with an open window! Yvonne & Melissa are also talking about their relationship and the race being a pressure cooker situation.

And it's looking like a hurricane is about to come!

Angie & Danny turn into a lot to ask for directions from a pizzeria.

Ricky & Cesar see the first clue box! ROADBLOCK: "Who wants to get into the swing of things?"
One team member must battle a talented local in road tennis and win a match to receive their next clue.

Ricky chooses to do the task and picks his opponent! "It's like a miniature tennis, pickleball, combined with a racquetball and ping pong." Cesar doesn't want the bench filled with teams. Ricky explains the situation.

Amber & Vinny are still navigating with Vinny voicing out how he is driving. Amber notices they circled back to where they are. Rod & Leticia is driving through an actual flood. Woohoo! Road closed ahead. Rod says they need to ask an official where the intersection is and he and Leticia get into an argument to stop yelling at each other.

Ricky is strategizing where the hits are coming from.

Rod & Leticia arrive at the RB in 4th. Leticia wants to do it and quickly runs to their net. Rod hopes she can knock it out quick.

We return to Amber being shocked by the conditions and not knowing where they are driving. They stop at a private residence to ask. Whereas, Leticia and Yvonne making some, not a lot of, progress. Rod was hoping Leticia would spike the ball and obliterate the task, but she's busy enjoying it with a smile on her face. Leticia is at 2 while Yvonne is at 7.

Ricky & Cesar don't know where they are headed. They want to go to a highway, but don't know where the highway is. Not all the streets have names on them and they are having a tough time. Angie asks who is Rihanna while Danny educates her on it. Angie asks Danny to start singing a Rihanna song.

"Welcome to Rihanna Drive." - Danny. Angie & Danny get the Long Bay clue.

Little did they know they are not instructors.

The girlfriends drive off while Yvonne relays how she was being a little vicious which ended up making her serves sloppy.

Vinny is doing the RB. Amber believes they can make a comeback. Shane hopes they can gain some time back. Vinny is also feeling the pressure against them and himself. "I'm actually pretty good at ping pong... can you stop talking, babe?" - Amber & Vinny

Juan has one last serve and gets it done. They leave in 5th. Vinny also finishes right behind them as the military pilots drive off.

Yvonne & Mel find the house while Rod & Leticia can't find the clue. Leticia asks the girlfriends where the clue is, but doesn't give them the answer directly! Woohoo! They eventually find it on their own.

Amber & Vinny are at it with their energies today as well while Amber wants to console Vinny's anxiety. Juan & Shane don't know where they are heading and feeling stressed.

Amber & Vinny get the clue from the Rihanna house in 5th. They ask for directions and head out as Juan & Shane arrive in from behind in last.

Meanwhile, Ricky & Cesar arrive at the bay. DETOUR: Seaweed Clearing or Fish Pot Building
In Fish Pot Building, teams must build a fishnet with tamarind root framing and wire to receive their next clue. In Seaweed Clearing, teams must clear a blue barrel full of seaweed along the beach to receive their next clue.

"We're the first ones here, we were able to pick the closest one to the example." - Cesar. They say their beach-inspired clothing is so fitting today. Yvonne & Mel still driving while Amber & Vinny see the water. "He's extra slow. He's on that island time." - Vinny with a local walking across the street.

Juan believes he is going to Long Beach. Rod & Leticia don't know if they are going north or south.

Ricky & Cesar are going back and forth between the example to be able to utilize the resources to their fullest advantage. "Just take your time. Right now you're by yourselves."

Angie & Danny arrive at the Detour clue. But... the producer says they have to be on hold until their crew shows up.

Yvonne & Mel arrive at the Detour clue in 2nd. They argue if the seaweed is going to take way too long. They Ricky & Cesar it and choose the fish nets instead after questioning them too.

Amber & Vinny arrive at the Detour in 3rd.

Vinny reveals his Filipino family had experience as a fishmonger.

Cesar wants to say they made it with tears, blood, and sweat.

Angie & Danny are finally off as the crew arrives! They do the fish pots.

Danny methodically getting the trap finished while Juan & Shane move up to 2nd!!! They are absolutely exhausted as they get in their jeep.

And Ricky & Cesar arrive at the Pit Stop dancing! They are TEAM NUMBER ONE and win $7,500 each!

Juan & Shane arrive at the Pit Stop as TEAM NUMBER TWO! They say the million dollars is getting more real by the day.

Rainbow is showing and a storm is coming in (probably). Rod & Leticia going to get another check while Angie & Danny finishing up their net.

this is gonna be one of the most controversial stuff TAR had ever experienced since the infamous TAR 7 scene. Idk i feel like the crews were responsible to Angie & Danny elimination, and it sucked to see them go out like that, but them kept driving along instead of waiting for the crews might not be their best idea to handle it

Yeah, I'm staying up for the Phil interview tonight. Let's see if it's just gonna be promotion for one of his projects, Tough As Nails, or if something is going to get addressed or clarified with Angie & Danny's crew going awol. This didn't look good on production at all. Especially since the whole time credit explanations have long been phased out since the early days.

Angie & Danny did say that they had to wait for their crew if they got separated. They kept driving to the beach. To play devil’s advocate, that area didn’t seem like it had much parking. The only other comparable incident was the very first episode of Amazing Race China. In that case, the team that lost their crew was bumped to a later fight as a penalty.

On a more positive note, glad we got a new country in an underused region. Also glad that we got such a competitive race at the Detour.

I was going to say this. When those voiceovers announced a team receiving time credit for "production error", I assume it usually meant something like this, a cameraman's battery dying (in the good old days of pre-HD), etc.

one redditor i read pointed out that they actually made an illegal turn during the roundabout, and the crew didn't intend to do the same thing the walla walla did, hence the crew losing them, and that penalty might be because of that (violating the local traffic law). need to rewatch to confirm this but that might make sense why the producers decided to not give em the time credit.

Would also make sense why they were being honked at during that roundabout turn.

Yet another Ricky/Cesar leg win where they spoke the local language!!!!1!

Too bad the weather wasn't great for the first Race visit to Barbados, although it seemed perfect when they were shooting b-roll

The man at the barbershop giving directions was one of the most casual helpers ever. Loved that little bit!

The seaweed detour wasn't bad if you were the first team there. Doing the task after the easiest/closest piles have already been picked could be tougher. Props to Juan & Shane for crushing it though.

You never know with editing, but I would guess that Angie & Danny's wait time was less than 10 minutes, and you can't really gripe about that when you conspicuously broke the rules of the road.
