So looking at the press pics, Phil calling a team from Aman Citadel might be taken at the pit start of the episode, meaning an early elimination might have happened, and the leg might be treated essentially as NEL, assuming the eliminated team in 1st Jordan leg didn't replace them

who look bummed. I would think it's the Pit Start, but the two teams didn't finish close together in the Petra/Wadi Rum leg.

Now that I've seen the pics, I assume Phil broke the news at the pit start that the Covid+ team will be sent home.

So I guess a replacement team is now inevitable. No replacement team would mean a possible non-elimination Leg 5, which will ruin not only the "no non-eliminations" twist this season, but the number of racers too.

Even if it means the leg being treated like a NEL for everyone else, a team got eliminated. Sure it'll kill the suspense for one episode (like when Dave & Connor quit), but the plan still works out if they leave it at that.

based on this sneak peek (especially the first one) and on the press pics, I assume all the teams are on the pit start of the leg, hearing the announcement from Phil regarding a team getting covid and the twist of the leg, and then starting the leg simultaneously

And now we know from that clip how they're handling the Covid elimination.

To keep the other teams from becoming too relaxed knowing it's basically a guaranteed non-elimination for them, the team who comes last on this leg will start 45 minutes behind on the next one. That'll be a steep hill to climb up from.
