And here is our first night!!

Previously on TAR, 14 teams began a race around the world. Recap of twists and surprises seeing the return of classic game pieces and the introduction of new ones. There have been incredible comebacks and emotional eliminations - cue the chronological order! Now, it's down to the final four. In the first part, teams are traveling to Porto. More surprises await for them. The road will be the toughest.

Carson & Jack depart 1st at 1:52 A.M. Travel to Portugal! Teams will self-drive and take part in Valet Roulette, picking either a manual or automatic card depending on their luck. We get a flashback of Emily & Molly, Luis & Michele, and Natalia.

DnD are going to Voyages Mosaic (travel agency). They are feeling confident and Carson says it's make or break for tiny mistakes.

Alyssa & Josiah leave in 2nd at 2:07 A.M. Alyssa says this is the craziest feeling there is only two legs remaining. Josiah says they used to work separately and this race brought them closer. Carson & Jack are leaving on the 11:20 A.M. flight.

Jon & Ana depart in 3rd with Ana feeling anxiety.

Ana said they were too hard on themselves in the France leg and want to bring home the prize to their children. Han & Holden depart in last and explain being privy to the bottom of the pack. Han wants to prove they can work together and win in the end. Everyone is on the same flight.

Jack reads the details further about Valet Roulette. They are hoping automatic is in their pick. Alyssa & Josiah and Jon & Ana aren't pressured knowing both.

Everyone is boarding the 11:20 flight to Porto! COMPLETE intro (finally!) and commercials.

And we are back with establishing shots of Porto before the teams are met with the dreaded Valet board in the rental car garage. Jon & Ana ran pass the roulette board and Carson & Jack grab the first set of keys. ROUTE INFO: Drive to Granjao Villa Marine to pick up your next clue. Nobody knows what car they got.

Carson & Jack receive an automatic car while Jon & Ana get a manual. Ana is excited for the map.

Han & Holden pick up the car and it's a stick. Alyssa & Josiah got a manual.

And immediately, Carson makes a rookie mistake not reading the map after they leave the airport. Alyssa is hoping teams are going lost. Meanwhile, Ana is indeed lost.

Ana asks if she needs to turn around on the highway and Jon says nope. Jack says there is two types of panicking. They feel like every other team is cracking under pressure. Holden is hoping he and Han can stay disciplined and chill for this leg.

Carson & Jack reach the box first. ROUTE INFO: Teams must paddle across the river and roll two barrels uphill to a wine storage house to receive the next clue.

Jack and Carson are off with a rhythm down in the river while Ana & Jon are doing the scenic route with Jon leading them astray. Ana points out the kilometer number and Jon tells Ana to not be annoying. Han & Holden don't know if they are going the right direction either. Han asks if he needs to take a breath and he instead jumps out the car to ask a local at a bus stand. "We have to go up and turn left." Han turns the wrong direction and cars are honking in the background! "Stop panicking!" - as his panicked self says.

We come back to Holden panicking telling Han to stop panicking. "Bro." - Han.

Alyssa is impressed by the terraces of vineyards. She is feeling confident about her and Josiah's navigation. Jon says Ana should go left with her asking for clearer directions. "This is not 824." - Ana. The roundabout has them in a frenzy.

Carson & Jack reach the other side of the river. "Choose two wine barrels with matching labels." Jack starts to roll in the lead ahead of Carson. Han & Holden reach the river clue box. "This is physicality, we got this." - Holden.

Carson mentions the cobblestone road up the hill is so much longer than he realized. "You had to put your back into that thang." - Jack. They are struggling badly with Jack "having his own strengths". Carson is bleeding and they switch barrels.

Han & Holden have a rhythm down in the river pushing them off course a little. "You need to help me turn. You are literally pushing us." - Holden.

Carson & Jack reach the storage house with both barrels. ROUTE INFO: Castelo de Santa Maria de Feira.
Han & Holden reach the barrel pick-up station as DnD run downhill pass them.

Alyssa & Josiah pick up at the clue box in 3rd. Meanwhile, Jon & Ana are misleading each other to the same roundabout from earlier. Ana doesn't understand what "the other way" means with Jon. Ana suggests they switch roles, but Jon refuses. The nurses are rowing toward the vineyards while Carson & Jack are on their way back. Alyssa mentions of a previous time whitewater rafting that she tended to overcorrect and make the boat start to drift off course. They are dysfunctional and fighting now!

And we are back from ads to Alyssa and Josiah having an explosive fight up the river. "I feel like we're overcorrecting." - Alyssa as she jumps to the back of the raft to balance themselves. Carson & Jack are back at the parking. "That was tough. That was really, really tough." - Jack.

Han is struggling while Holden wants her to give it her all. Holden was not about to push her barrel up including his. They finally reach the delivery point and receive their clue in 2nd.

Alyssa & Josiah are pushing the barrels up as Han & Holden speed down passing them. Jon & Ana are stopping in the middle of the road with them murmuring an argument among themselves. Ana wants to see the map as Jon finally decides they want to switch roles with him navigating. "Is this all the information we have?" - Ana. Jon mentions it was all that was given.

Josiah reaches the top as Alyssa is a straggler with the barrel. He helps her and they receive the clue. Jon & Ana are still lost as Josiah feels they are okay. Alyssa is red as a tomato from exhaustion.

Ana asks a local on the side of the street for directions. "Obrigado, thank you so much." - Ana.

Alyssa & Josiah say this will be a really long drive. Jon & Ana reach the river clue box as they tiff. "Water, are you serious? What a nightmare." - Jon. They start rowing and are making a 180 degree turn in water. Ana and Jon aren't having any fun as Jon keeps nagging behind her.

We come back to Jon & Ana up a river without a paddle as they reach the barrels in last place. Jon is taking his damn time piecing back together the wet clue envelope.

Carson & Jack say Happy Pride for Lisbon. Han & Holden realize they have a lead from Alyssa & Josiah and call them Terminators. The Terminators are locked in and focused in their own car. Han is driving into the big city and can't find the castle. They ask for directions from a seemingly couple as we get establishing shots of the castle.

Carson & Jack pull up to the castle and believe they might be doing archery. Clue box! ROADBLOCK: Who's got a steady hand?
One team member must suit up in medieval armor and climb to the top of the castle. They have 7 tries to hit three bullseye while on a mounted steed.

Carson is doing the task and he is absolutely freaking out over everything they talked about with his DnD friends back home absolutely going to be living through him. Alyssa & Josiah pop out of nowhere to the castle in 2nd and Alyssa is doing the task.

Jon & Ana are switching their barrels because Ana is exhausted. Meanwhile, Carson is climbing with the knight armor. He said his muscles were going to wear out.

This is the dream task for Carson & Jack, lol. Not surprised they'd freak out.

Carson is getting practice shots in as Jon & Ana get their barrel clue and run down the hillsides. Han & Holden reach the Roadblock in 3rd and Holden does the task. Alyssa is still putting on the first layer of armor. Carson is ready for his shots and he gets his smallest one first. He gets his second and third one on his first attempt! He gets knighted with Jack jumping up and down for him in the background. Carson said this was his best moment from the race.

ROUTE INFO: Take a train to Sao Bento Porto Train Station and look for a man in the lobby to receive the next clue.

Alyssa reaches the top of the castle with Josiah saying she is his knight in shining armor. Jon & Ana finally reach their car and are off to the castle.

Alyssa is already done with practicing and is going for her shots. She is missing everything. "Is that Tyrion Lannister?" - Han with Holden coming out from the ramp.

Alyssa continues to struggle with the targets as she gets her first hit. She cannot make the connection and must start again. Josiah motivates her as she is completely distraught.

Ana says her daughter gave her a tiny fortune to take with her on the race saying "It's not over until Phil says it's over." Cute.

Holden is also struggling for the three targets on his first attempt. "Like a Mongol." - Holden as things begin to click for him. Alyssa is steadily improving as she finally gets the three targets within the first half of her arrows. She is knighted in Portugal and leaves in 2nd.

Holden points out his instructor Andre said the instructors shot the arrows straight and it got the work for him done. "I do it for my people." - Holden. They leave in 3rd with the train station clue.

Jack is trying to get back to the station with his memory of directions. Meanwhile, Holden is still amazed by the archery as Han is navigating urgently. Jon & Ana reach the Roadblock and Jon does the task. "Sorry, I broke your castle right there." - title quote worthy. Jon couldn't seem to be happy that he would eventually get eliminated being this far behind. Ana is standing strong in the background and hopes he has a blast.

Jack and Carson are lost and say teams may catch up. Alyssa & Josiah still driving with some progress made. Han & Holden aren't on track.

Jon is taking his shots and keeps missing the one in the middle.

Carson & Jack reach the station and see the Sao Bento train is leaving in 9 MINUTES! Han & Holden reach the station now.

DnD are going to the correct track while Han & Holden is SPRINTING to the train car. Jack & Carson realize nobody is going to be in their car until Holden shows up like the boogeyman to open the cabin door.

Alyssa & Josiah are still driving until they are suddenly rear ended from behind.

We return to the scene of the accident where there is no damage. That's pretty lucky considering these circumstances. DnD and H&H are celebrating their lead as they realize Jon & Ana are M.I.A.

Jon hits all three targets and his knighted un-enthusiastically. They are off in last.

Alyssa & Josiah are almost at the train station, but didn't see a marked/designated parking so they have to turn all the way back around. Jon & Ana ask cafe patrons for directions. They are over the driving while Alyssa & Josiah can't predict the trains.

We get a Phil clip of him showing off the azulejo tiles around town and in the station. DnD and Han & Holden get their clue from the tile vendor. "Ode Porto Wine House".

Aly & Josiah arrive at the train station with successful parking and ask the ticket vendor if they saw more teams. She explains two as the nurses are nervous about Jon & Ana maybe catching up.

DnD and H&H reach the clue box at the Ode. ROUTE INFO: Teams must assemble a detailed mosaic puzzle revealing the place of their last Pit Stop.

A bunch of azulejo tile pieces as teams are wayyyyy separated from each other at the stations. That's good, discouragement of answer sharing. Alyssa & Josiah's train is delayed and Alyssa is worried. Jon & Ana reach the station and Jon is having a meltdown at the train station for Ana stepping in front of him as they switch lines. Ana says this has been a whole day ordeal.

Alyssa really doesn't want to see Jon & Ana show up. Meanwhile, the nurses are screwed as the bickering gets closer and closer and closer to them.

"I can't believe they caught up." - Alyssa. Jon & Ana are fighting in the background about their communication breakdown at the platform as it's both of their nightmares coming true. Love the train station drama, I haven't seen anything like this in so long!

We return to the train standoff between Alyssa & Josiah and Jon & Ana for a moment. "Jon & Ana are here, I hate that." Alyssa & Josiah. The nurses are trying to stay positive as Ana is at her wits' end with Jon.

Carson & Jack are making a lot of progress on the puzzle with Han & Holden right behind. DnD are approved of the puzzle and are schmearing putty on the wall to get it officialized. "I'm recently unemployed, so I can be a tiler." - Jack.

Alyssa & Josiah and Ana & Jon are at Sao Bento and receive the tile clue for the Ode.

Carson & Jack are at the last row of tiles as H&H are confused. DnD receive the clue. ROUTE INFO: Cross the Luis I Bridge to the other side of the Douro River to the Pit Stop. Last team to arrive WILL be eliminated.

Han & Holden call for a check and it's unapproved.

Carson & Jack are running across the bridge as Alyssa & Josiah are speeding to the clue box at the mosaic. Josiah quickly spits out the instructions at lightning speed as Han & Holden fix their mistake and are relieved to be able to stick them to the wall. Jon & Ana also arrive with Aly & Josiah noticing them in the background.

Han asks Holden whether she should help with placing tiles on the wall.

Carson & Jack arrive at the Pit Stop to a small band. They are TEAM NUMBER ONE and win an upgrade to business class on the final flight back.

Carson & Jack are excited to have fun to reach the final three and are ready for the finale. Han & Holden is laying the tiles in total exhilaration while Alyssa & Josiah call for a check, and it's no good.

Han & Holden call for a final check for the wall mosaic and receive the Pit Stop clue. Alyssa & Josiah are still incorrect as Han & Holden are rushing to the Pit Stop and crossing the bridge. Small montage of them reaching the Pit Stop as the sun is beginning to set in the background. Such great lighting as they are TEAM NUMBER TWO! Han & Holden are so proud of how they got to the final three.

Jon & Ana are calling for a check of their mosaic and are surprisingly all correct on first try! Alyssa & Josiah also call for a check and are approved. It's a race to put the mosaic together first! "Babe, just slap it up there. They are almost done." - Alyssa. Meanwhile, Jon completely shatters two pieces of tile on the grab during his transfer.

Maybe we'll finally see a proper Pit Stop penalty, albeit 10 minutes, dished out.

Interesting cliffhanger. TAR Canada's done it a couple times in the past on a Keep Racing leg, where they'll leave the last couple placements TBC. Pretty sure this is the first time I've seen it on TARUS.

That was one of the more crazier flame outs on TAR from Jonathan only for him & Ana to catch up. Can't wait for the conservations of this on Twitter /sarcasm. That was an insane moment for a cliffhanger. The Valet Parking twist was fine, but having manual cars didn't hinder these teams unlike the navigation. The sun was setting, so teams were driving for hours throughout Portugal.

I think it happened at least once before. I believe it was Season 27 Episode 6 with Denise & James Earl stuck at a Detour in Paris, France.

Predicting that J&A finish the puzzle first, but then get a 10 minute penalty for the broken tile.  However, A&J finish their tiles and either get loss or take too long to finish the tiles before the penalty is up thus giving J&A 3rd.

Take a drink when someone on TAR says that a challenge is "the hardest thing they've ever done".

It felt Survivor-esque to do a lot of different things and then end on a puzzle.

It seemed that Johnathan & Ana had more of their mosaic up, but is there a time penalty for dropping a tile? If it's still close, who will win the footrace? And could Alyssa & Josiah have some sort of time credit for the traffic accident earlier? Especially as someone who's unspoiled, that was a pretty dramatic cliffhanger placement. At least I don't have long to wait for the resolution.
