One thing about the boot order, we don't know how horribly the Mine Five would do without feeding each other answers. Like, how far behind would a team get if Hung wasn't standing there waiting to force answers and solutions down the other teams' throats? (As just one example.)

And they aren't violating rules, but they're definitely looking for shortcuts. And that is almost as bad. What's the point of the show putting together tasks when teams aren't actually going to perform and complete them? Part of that is the show's fault and poor design, part of that is the teams' decisions. But this is a Race. And they are harming the integrity of the Race by trying to find shortcuts.

The Mine Five's attitudes about it are also a turn off. The ganging up, the bullying, the cocky attitudes. Put these teams against some of TAR's even middling teams from the past? They'd get eaten alive. And it won't take an alliance of five to do it.

There's also the argument that's popped up over the years, including from certain teams themselves. That teams are Racing to win, they're not here for our entertainment. That is a flawed defense. The Amazing Race is an entertainment TV show. And while no one wants teams to play up to the camera or be fake (like many teams have in the recent past and increasingly so in the current social media-influencer era), teams go into the show knowing what it is about. (Though that's debatable with increasing recruits too.)

Teams can certainly do whatever they want to win, but the show's fans/viewers aren't obligated to like it or appreciate it. Or even respect it. Viewers certainly have the option to not watch. And as the data has proven the last couple of years, many have indeed made that decision to say Bye bye to The Amazing Race.

Very well said!

For me, this season still isn't the worst. S.24 will always be the worst for me.
S.32 is on the lower end of my rankings for the entire US version. It slots slightly above S.27.
Setting the stupid alliance aside, the route, the majority of the tasks were well thought of. Thank you production & leg designers!
It would have been on the higher end of the rankings if it weren't for the you know what...

Just a thought. I can't help but think if the Mine Five were placed in S.27 because the tasks in that season were just below average or just bad.  I'll swap out Tanner & Josh, Tiffany & Krista, Denise & James Earl, Ernest & Jin, Logan & Chris and place them in S.32
I just can imagine them forming an alliance and helping out excessively in a season where I deem the tasks are "easy"

This season is so infuriating episode after episode. Honestly wondering why I watch this show anymore its not fun.

I feel ya oval! It's sad to think about. But I think there's definitely a whole separate thread's worth of discussion about that feeling. And how perhaps TAR isn't as amazing as it once was. (I actually think there already is a thread like that somewhere around here hehe)

I'm definitely thankful for other TARs around the world that have tried new things, tweaked the format. But still essentially keep it TAR. And best of all, they cast good teams who bring the drama and hilarity, but still actually compete.

When both casuals and die-hard fans have the same negative opinion of something on the show, then there's something wrong with the show.

Don't forget the apologists for the Mine Five. I've seen a lot on social media.  :groan:  B:)

Some of my friends, whom are avid fans of the show and who are also Gay/LGBT are displeased with how Will & James are portraying the LGBT community.

There are Mine Five apologists?!?!?!  :groan:

Actually, that's true. I've seen them. Like comments about wanting TAR to become more like Survivor and Big Brother. Like, they WANT more alliances and backstabbing and that kind of clique-y behavior on TAR. *cringe* lol

dryedmangoez, I got tired seeing the comments from the Mine Five apologists on social media. It was like a bunch of trolls.

The next leg's structure sounds like a shortsighted disaster on air like TAR30's team swap. The "city sprint" sounds like they're just going to be traveling on foot to locations around Metro Manila in a set order like a marathon. In my specs from pure live sightings, I thought Phil was going to hand out a list of tasks they needed to complete in whatever order, like orienteering, where navigation and travel can diversify.

Having teams complete a list of tasks in any order would be an editing nightmare for TAR, especially contemporary TAR. So I doubt they'do that. Final 4 is the perfect time to do such a thing though.

But with the ReaLaLLiaNce, they'd probably just stick together all day and do things in the same order anyway.

I do like a memory task in the Penultimate leg. (While having a more difficult memory task in the Final Leg) But this is definitely not the season to start doing it on. lol

Don't get me wrong. I like Will & James. They seem like good people. And they played hard with the hand they were dealt. That hand just happened to be a lot of Yields and U-Turns. But I don't like that many of them and know many agree! I feel two U-Turns this season on Leg 3 and 9, would have been AMPLE! The inclusion of a Yield and a U-Turn is just too much. If they wanted to bring back a Yield, they should have done away with U-Turns and just had 3 or 4 yields on Leg 3, 5, 7 and mega-leg 8. There's been one of either every leg apart from the first! Simply too much.

I liked the mega-leg, which is essentially a double length leg without a virtual pit-stop like in early seasons? It isn't quite a KOR, but I liked it. Also interesting to hear the 'KOR' from Leg 1 to 2 had a day between, so essentially isn't a KOR at all! But I did like the mega-leg, so don't mind it staying.

I also want to mention that I am so thrilled there is no Head-to-Head. I hope that remains that way. Though I wouldn't have minded its inclusion if it was placed halfway through the leg - like in Canada and Israel - I did not like it being placed at the Pitstop at all. So I am glad that is gone!

I liked the cast a lot, and feel the editing on the whole was very good. Saddened there has been no flight drama. I do wish they would aim to include at least 3 legs per season where teams do have to exercise some skill here - maybe on legs where there are multiple flight options...you obviously couldn't do it for a leg from Nepal to Mongolia but a leg from England to India could surely allow for some jockeying?

But I DO agree about less U-Turn/Yields, I DO agree about more flight drama, I DO agree that the alliances thing really has played far too heavily on the season and made it a bit sour. This isn't Survivor or Big Brother. Having little alliances ala Jamie and Cara/Margie and Luke is fine, but this one was really TOO MUCH. But on the plus side, if there is a Unfinished Business 2.0 in the near future, I can easily see teams like Leo and Alana and Kaylynn and Haley coming back!

Hope producers will listen to fans and implement changes for 33 re-filming in 2021 (remaining hopeful) and long live TAR! Remember - it will be a hell of a lot sadder if we didn't have TAR at all, so we have to support it, even if we want changes! I think WRP were on the right track with the 'back to basics' cast, we just needed less of these Yield/U-Turns, more flight drama/less alliance, and personally I would still have loved an older couple/team over 50...This cast is very 35 and under besides Jerry and Hung and Chee being 39 and 38!

The one thing they've done a good job of building up this season is visualizing a checklist of the progress each team had under their team subtitle labeling. I was anticipating a combination of the checklist and how they'd edit Detours. Very disappointing if this pure Route Info leg has teams all forced to bunch for a triathlon instead of an orienteering adventure since what they are packaging as "new" is what TAR29 had for Chicago and TAR30 for Bahrain. Neither warranted a Phil ceremony at the start.

Even if it were four of my favorite teams, it would've still been disappointing for me to see something existing in its history repackaged as a new thing, and a style of editing not utilized to its max potential.

This is an ominous sign. With the uncertainty of the pandemic on when it will end and the adjustment period to go back to normal.
It will definitely take a while for the world to resume normal travel.

I've said numerous times alongside other users here. They should have retained filming 2 seasons per year! One filmed in Summer and another in the Winter. Absolutely a missed opportunity. We could have been with S.36 by now

2016 - S.29 & S.30
2017 - S.31 & S.32
2018 - S.33 & S.34
2019 - S.35 & S.36
2020 - S.37 ? (If they filmed it slightly earlier, maybe late-January to mid-February 2020. It would have been completed)

I'd want the US Version to reach 100 countries, but I want to be ambitious, I want 120 countries.

I'm hoping this is just a gimmick or somewhat a milestone. But S.32, I would expect this for like S.25 or S.30. It is just an odd choice.

I DO NOT WANT A CANCELLATION!

There's not another show quite like TAR and as mentioned by another user here, "There is something magical about the show"

Peach, maybe you can shed some light on this. Most probably you know.

Just to put my two cents in, that post doesn't look ominous...

It looks like a social media team trying to build fan interaction and create a video featuring fans talking about their favourite moments of past seasons. The last I heard, there was solid hope for 2021 and returning to film 33, so keep hope alive. The vaccine's are hopeful too. You never know. Things change on a dime. Maybe it is a 'sign', but I think there is still support from CBS to see it continue...

This is my first time posting on the board, but I’ve been a longtime watcher. Considering we’re nearing the end of this season, I just wanted to give this fan’s opinion of this TAR 32.

Things started all right. Sure, we didn’t get a Detour for the first two legs, but it was a very low-key, enjoyable first couple of episodes. And then came Leg 3...

I have watched TAR for a long, long time. I have loved and hated so many people throughout the years.

{HATE and personal attacks are not allowed here. partial post removed---peach}

With each successive episode, I lose more enthusiasm. It takes away from things like Haley and Kaylynn being likable underdogs, returning to countries that haven’t been seen in a while, Hung and Chee being the only team left that aren’t constantly being Machiavellian villains. When this show, my favorite show for years, is constantly losing out for my attention to 2 hours of Ken Jeong, something has gone horribly wrong. Watching the end of each season has been a celebratory event in my family for a long time. But this time, I just want it gone. I’ll probably delete this season from my DVR and destroy the sheet I’ve been using to record the finishes when it’s over. This is how The Amazing Race ends, not with a bang, but a whimper.

If the Race ever comes back, serious changes need to be made. No more Yields, cast more personable teams, make the Race and its experiences and places look fun again. Just anything that doesn’t resemble this nightmare of a season that really does feel like it should be aired in 2020.

{post with hate attacks removed--peach}

In conclusion, I want nothing to do with this season when it ends. The Amazing Race always felt more mature than its contemporaries; why else does it have all its Emmys? But this season dragged the show to the trashiness I know other reality shows sink to. If the Race ever comes back, it’ll do so without quite a few fans. And I can only hope that I’m not one of them that says goodbye. I’m so sorry to take up so much of everyone’s time and attention.

On that note, I’m so glad to finally post something on RFF!

Welcome Obayer. Your feelings about TAR are definitely very relatable.

Though I will go to bat for Brendon & Rachel. At the very least, they did very well on the Race (twice!) without having someone else completing tasks for them.   :clap2: hehe

I am saying this ONE TIME ONLY.

Obviously some of you are forgetting our RFF policy and hve not read our rules .

THERE WILL BE NO HATE ATTACKS OR BLATANT RUDENESS TO ANY MEMBER OR RACERS HERE.

Quote

EXCERPT

** Just a reminder that RFF prides itself on our friendships and relationships with current and past racers and their families, who DO read what is being said here.

While it is perfectly fine to explain why you think a racer or a team did not do well in a task, or behaved badly, or just isn't your favorite, it is NOT okay to be rude or impolite in doing so. We don't allow personal attacks on each other or on our racer friends. Comments on how they raced are fair, personal attacks are not.

** Nothing (no photos, no comments, no anything) should be posted from a racer's PRIVATE Facebook after the official reveal without their written approval. We try to respect the little privacy they have. Info from their FB FAN pages and from Twitter and Instagram is generally acceptable.

**Please stay on topic, let's keep the discussion relevant to the contestants or their team.

The general non-spoiler TAR Discussion board is HEREand of course, 32 Spoiler threads are HERE

**Please do NOT use the RACER threads for your own predications. It is really not necessary to put a comment or <3 in every single thread with "I like them/I don't like them".
Appropriate comments about why you like/don't like a team are always welcome, using the threads to advertise your own predictions is not.

If you EVER feel that a comment about a racer may have stepped over the bounds, please either use the report to moderator button, or PM or email me, rather than using the racer's thread to continue the discussion.

HATE ATTACKS  ANYONE and ESPECIALLY OUR MEMBERS HERE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED AND IS NOT WELCOME HERE.

I am locking this thread temporarily.

NO ONE IS EVER ALLOWED TO USE RFF TO EXPRESS HATE.

HATE of a person,, hate of any race/nationality/color/sexual preference is NOT WANTED OR ALLOWED HERE.

You are welcome to hate a task/ a race behavior/ an alliance/or a strategy and explain that.

But under no circumstances is HATE to be directed to a PERSON here at RFF. EVER.

You can disagree and explain why you did not like something. You can argue strategy until the cows come home.

BUT YOU MAY NEVER USE HATE AGAINST ANYONE  IN A PERSONAL WAY HERE.

I am not pouring my heart and soul and substantial $$ into RFF to see it used in a hateful way. EVER.

And for all you members who choose not to report this hate ...shame on you as well.

RFF's Golden Rule:
Have RESPECT for each other, regardless of opinion. This of course includes no flaming/insulting other users and/or their posts.

ONE MORE TIME: READ AGAIN:

** Just a reminder that RFF prides itself on our friendships and relationships with current and past racers, who DO read what is being said here.

"Don't hate on the Racers, hate the game."

ANd READ MY SIG again as well:
