This is my first time posting on the board, but I’ve been a longtime watcher. Considering we’re nearing the end of this season, I just wanted to give this fan’s opinion of this TAR 32.
Things started all right. Sure, we didn’t get a Detour for the first two legs, but it was a very low-key, enjoyable first couple of episodes. And then came Leg 3...
I have watched TAR for a long, long time. I have loved and hated so many people throughout the years.

With each successive episode, I lose more enthusiasm. It takes away from things like Haley and Kaylynn being likable underdogs, returning to countries that haven’t been seen in a while, Hung and Chee being the only team left that aren’t constantly being Machiavellian villains. When this show, my favorite show for years, is constantly losing out for my attention to 2 hours of Ken Jeong, something has gone horribly wrong. Watching the end of each season has been a celebratory event in my family for a long time. But this time, I just want it gone. I’ll probably delete this season from my DVR and destroy the sheet I’ve been using to record the finishes when it’s over. This is how The Amazing Race ends, not with a bang, but a whimper.
If the Race ever comes back, serious changes need to be made. No more Yields, cast more personable teams, make the Race and its experiences and places look fun again. Just anything that doesn’t resemble this nightmare of a season that really does feel like it should be aired in 2020.

In conclusion, I want nothing to do with this season when it ends. The Amazing Race always felt more mature than its contemporaries; why else does it have all its Emmys? But this season dragged the show to the trashiness I know other reality shows sink to. If the Race ever comes back, it’ll do so without quite a few fans. And I can only hope that I’m not one of them that says goodbye. I’m so sorry to take up so much of everyone’s time and attention.
On that note, I’m so glad to finally post something on RFF!
