I was rewatching Episode 2 and saw Will & James's meltdown when they couldn't figure out the horn. We were really robbed of more meltdowns like this since the Mine Five decided to hold their hands throughout the entire Race :groan:

With so many ppl despise this season, I'm just glad we have this season, especially in these trying times. I'm not gonna complaining at all

But for real tho, while the alliance is annoying and I can see the case, put aside the alliance and we have an actually really good season with back to basic casts, really decent routes, and good amount of challenging tasks and the return of daily leg-yield. This season was basically back to basic season. It is far better than s31 even tho I like s31. This is honestly a great season tbh

The first half was really strong. The prevalence of the alliance starting with Leg 6 brought this down, but I don't despise this season. Only 4, 16, and 24 have reached that level and 32 isn't even close to those.

Yeah, this season has dragged some in the middle because of the alliance imo but this episode was a step back in the right direction.

When both casuals and die-hard fans have the same negative opinion of something on the show, then there's something wrong with the show.

My interest of this season drops bit by bit as the 8th - 6th place teams go one-by-one  :groan:

Don't forget the apologists for the Mine Five. I've seen a lot on social media.  :groan:  B:)

Some of my friends, whom are avid fans of the show and who are also Gay/LGBT are displeased with how Will & James are portraying the LGBT community.

The Manila Leg has a task involving stilettos. Did they draw inspiration from one of the Design Challenges?
I could not remember the user, but I do remember it was for a task in Milan, Italy.

I feel ya oval! It's sad to think about. But I think there's definitely a whole separate thread's worth of discussion about that feeling. And how perhaps TAR isn't as amazing as it once was. (I actually think there already is a thread like that somewhere around here hehe)

I'm definitely thankful for other TARs around the world that have tried new things, tweaked the format. But still essentially keep it TAR. And best of all, they cast good teams who bring the drama and hilarity, but still actually compete.

When both casuals and die-hard fans have the same negative opinion of something on the show, then there's something wrong with the show.

Actually, that's true. I've seen them. Like comments about wanting TAR to become more like Survivor and Big Brother. Like, they WANT more alliances and backstabbing and that kind of clique-y behavior on TAR. *cringe* lol

I’d be fine with alliances if they didn’t give each other answers to tasks. Like in a hypothetical world where teams could actually find different flights, an alliance to help each other find flights would be fine for me. But since that’s no longer the case, I’m against alliances then. Or at the very least, giving out answers. That just takes out the fun.

Press Release for Episode 11: In the first-ever city sprint, the final four teams will have no road blocks, no detours and complete every challenge as a team as fast as they can when they race through Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on the penultimate leg of THE AMAZING RACE

Why are they trying to act like having no Detours or Roadblocks in a leg is some brand new fancy twist...?

It's only happened twice, but branding it a city sprint is basically akin to the first "official" Switchback happening in 15 when the show had already reused tasks.

The only way it would be new is if Phil told them all the tasks they would need to do at the start, like Probst in a Survivor challenge

I hate this, I hated it in S30, and I will probably hate it this leg. Leg 10 and they are going to make it one of the easiest legs of the season  :furious:. I think Route Info Tasks are usually the easiest tasks of the show except for Speed Bumps. Roadblocks, Detours, and Fast Forwards are all usually more difficult, and in the double dights of the season going to do this  :idgit. Are the producers for TAR ok?

I think it's because there is a danger for a Leg with only a list of Route Info tasks to end up being very linear. And Linear Legs are usually uninteresting and not exciting. Considering the types of possible tasks contemporary TAR does. And with these four teams? There's definitely a huge possibility for a disastrously bad Leg and/or episode.  :duno:

The only thing that are annoying about the mine five is the sharing answer method in almost every leg and high school mental bullying, and yes, it took away the fun in audience's perspective.

However 1.) The alliance isn't actually essentially controlling the boot order, and most of them were eliminated because of their own mistake (Like the Cajun sisters lost for couple hours driving in Paris, or Leo & Alana couldnt separate flagpoles and spears, and even with the yield, either the blondes would have used yield without the alliances encouragement, or L/A were far behind even without the yield). The only thing that is debatable is the blondes, because of the taxi driver , but then again even without 40 mins yield, they would have had a lesser chance to survive because they were so far behind with the other teams (they reached the swiggy detour after H/C finished)

2.) They play for the big money (not including the gov. Tax). They would do anything to get into the final three and win the race, and having alliances with the stronger teams would guarantee them far. Yes some alliances take away the fun and this is the case, but I've seen far more annoying alliance in the past seasons and this is while the extreme case of answer sharing method, is still bearable. And yes they want to get the prizes, so well, they would do anything to get the prizes as long as it doesn't violate the rules. I do agree tho that the producers need to review and modify rules or challenges so there wouldn't be any potential mass answer sharing for the next seasons, if we ever get any in this uncertain times

TAR 29 finale and TAR 30's Bahrain turned out to be fine imo, with the TAR 30's was much more predictable because one team lost their passport.

The twist for the final leg would be the start of their leg on a country (not their pit start) and the pit stop would be the same, but I feel like there may be more twists regarding to this penultimate leg, so let's see ofc

One thing about the boot order, we don't know how horribly the Mine Five would do without feeding each other answers. Like, how far behind would a team get if Hung wasn't standing there waiting to force answers and solutions down the other teams' throats? (As just one example.)

And they aren't violating rules, but they're definitely looking for shortcuts. And that is almost as bad. What's the point of the show putting together tasks when teams aren't actually going to perform and complete them? Part of that is the show's fault and poor design, part of that is the teams' decisions. But this is a Race. And they are harming the integrity of the Race by trying to find shortcuts.

The Mine Five's attitudes about it are also a turn off. The ganging up, the bullying, the cocky attitudes. Put these teams against some of TAR's even middling teams from the past? They'd get eaten alive. And it won't take an alliance of five to do it.

There's also the argument that's popped up over the years, including from certain teams themselves. That teams are Racing to win, they're not here for our entertainment. That is a flawed defense. The Amazing Race is an entertainment TV show. And while no one wants teams to play up to the camera or be fake (like many teams have in the recent past and increasingly so in the current social media-influencer era), teams go into the show knowing what it is about. (Though that's debatable with increasing recruits too.)

Teams can certainly do whatever they want to win, but the show's fans/viewers aren't obligated to like it or appreciate it. Or even respect it. Viewers certainly have the option to not watch. And as the data has proven the last couple of years, many have indeed made that decision to say Bye bye to The Amazing Race.

Once upon a time, this show was about ordinary people racing around the world for life-changing money. It made for exciting, dramatic and entertaining television which is why it has the fanbase it has today. In my opinion, I think it was after Unfinished Business when that all changed.

I can't help but think the modern era of TAR is for people who just want the experience, which is obviously fair enough. But the alliance has even taken away the joy of that. This season had so much potential - great cast and amazing locations, with tasks I think are decent enough! Especially after what feels like so many seasons of gimmicks (reality showdown, dating, social media etc).

I don't have high hopes for the future of TAR, which is really sad because there's something so magical about this show. Let's just hope someone out there is reading what we have to say!

Oh THIS soooo much!

I miss seeing regular people... and it goes the same for TARC, I feel like producers forget that regular people are watching this show. That's what I want to see. Sure having one team that is a bit extra or too much (Like the Goth in TAR12, or Globetrotters in TAR14) is perfect. But in the end, I want to see an married couple, grandparents, roomates, BFF since childhood, sibling fighting, newly dating couple having meltdowns.

I think Hung/Chee are a great exemple of this: They are regular people, parents, but are still interesting and reliable. Same with both pairs of sister, father/son and the first team that was eliminated. PLEASE LESS ATHLETES, this ain't the olympics.... no MACTORS, no YOUTUBEURS OR INFLUENCERS (Okay maybe just 1 team if they are reeeeealllllly funny and fun).
