Interesting.  And 3am too. I hope there's some kind of twist involved.

I'm sure they'll make you sign the same release as anyone who associates with the racers, there's at least that catch.

This is incredibly interesting...

Midnight Start Line? That's a first, right? At least the latest start of a season
I'm guessing there is gonna be some kind of task at the Starting Line, just to have people cheering for the teams. They are probably gonna have to sign a NDA so Why not? :)

Cause it's like what 3am start and flights to other continents don't start flying till 6-7 am I would have to figure that there is some kind of task at the start that takes some time.
Considering that the race starts at NY also makes  me wonder if they go Canada in first leg or somewhere Northen europe since it's summer there.

The only thing I'm sad about is it likely means any Asian leg would be at the end of the Race.

That means less teams for Jig or Pig!  :gaah:

OR they could be saving the Phillipines for Season 26. Possibly, maybe.

Reasons to start at 3 PM :

- Not much people will come and not less people , just the right number of people will show up to send the teams out.
- Special season , they really SHOULD do something like that.

And to add : it's impossible that we DON'T have a flight in this leg. People around the square would follow the teams anywhere they go , if they are TAR fanatics like us.

Definitely not. Philippines is more likely for TAR25 and hope Manila will have a full leg.

Could not. Philippines hasn't visited since TAR5 and need a long 20-season gap in one-time visited country. The last time was Portugal (TAR3 to TAR23, which was 11 years later after its first visit).

What if the teams are starting from another location?  And it's just Phil and fans at Times Square?

The lineup of teams would be shown on a giant screen all ready to go.  ???

First I am amazed (pun fully intended) by the CBS.com announcement. It is a first and the time of day (3 am is also the first nighttime start ever) and I am glad they have returned to the original start city and only a few miles from the original start line in Central Park. (yes! yes! yes!)

I wish I could afford to fly into NYC just to be there, but I can't, But I am in love with the idea.

As I recall, and it's been years since we've had to worry about an east coast start, NYC is a good start/connection to fly to Europe or to Africa, or to South America, and it has been a long time since they've been to South Africa which as in the original season 13 plus years ago, there are direct flights. So there are a lot of possibilities, and there are no more than three airports to choose from.

But I guess I better plan on being up really late on Friday night-early Saturday morning because I doubt I'll be able to sleep knowing this is starting when it is.

South Africa is long overdue for a return visit and there are direct flights to Johannesburg from New York City.

Cheatau, go back and if you can find any of them, try and find the CBS Morning News segments when Alex Boylan, Jeff Schroeder or Parvarti started their Around the World for Free seasons out of CBS News in NYC (which is close to Times Square.)

They could very well have the teams start there (Times Square), since I suspect teams would be using public transport to the airport, the same way they did during the first season start.

I've loved the idea of forcing teams to use public transit especially on the first leg.

A scumbag move they could do is have the starting line in LA but have everyone watching at Times Square in New York.  :funny:

Really surprised at the starting line  :ascared
So It's the first time ever starting at night? and first time ever Starting Line announced?

I think it could be a very special TAR
Celebrity edition maybe? or all winners edition? or maybe there will be some switchbacks in 25 season...

but hope this is not the last tar  :groan:

I hope a great crowd turns up - to prove that TAR is still widely loved and regarded as a wonderful show. I definitely want to see it continue far past this 25th season! Awesome start line, have a feeling it is a sign of good things to come! As has been previously stated, we could have a return to Africa with several flights there. Also Europe is another big possibility for first leg...All in all, very excited  :wohoo:

They would most likely be going to Kennedy or Newark, both which have better mass transit connections and international flights.  Kennedy is the major international airport as well but Newark has international flights as well.  The subway station in Times Square has connections to a lot of different trains, although the services is pretty slow at 3 am on a Saturday.  I would imagine they would be taking cabs at this hour, though,  which would be plentiful at 3 am in Times Square.
