No (as much as I want to count Yes), there is no dialogue or visual clue that Dan is actually reading or read it.  Though I am sure he did.

No, they all knew about the haybales from before. ;)

One racer did not know it was going to be the same hay bale task from before, rather they thought they would be looking for a "needle" in a haystack

I have a suggestion for future game:
change "first team to reach the detour" to "first team to receive the detour clue". Because the Detour could have very well begun once they got the gnome.
I often use both.  Usually when we start getting viewer teams.

But we had so much info (I thought) on general placement for this episode.

Heee....I had my heart (not my head) set on Lena and Kristy so I'm out on this, biut I totally agree, adolescent male.

I think the detour task STARTS with the donning of the gear, so bye bye points for me. Anytime you have to dress or undress or whatever...I can tell you that is part of the Detour clue itself.

And the tilt is the first stage of getting the gnome IMO...
For the tilt what pushes me to treat it as a separate task is that their is a route marker for each part.  I generally consider that to be something different (It doesn't help me at all).

I am trying to rack my brain to find a task that includes to route marker clues.  Hell even the infamous Roadblock in Sydney didn't have individual route markers.

Usually, I'll agree with gman on his questions (because it irritates mswood), but I don't think that greeter is a full-grown woman at all. Definitely a boy there and certainly not full-grown.

The tilt is definitely a separate task from the gnome. But I think you should give credit for both Meghan & Cheyne and Sam & Dan on the Detour question because I have no idea how to distinguish which opinion would be more correct. :duno:

I just barely watched the episode, and I'm kind of surprised there are no scores here yet! Based on impressions though, I get the feeling I did terribly this time, but we'll see.

The detour actually starts when the teams reach the "rock quarry" where they are to fill sandbags and build a protective bunker.  But before they can reach the "rock quarry" which is behind a lowered gate the teams must don protective gear to proceed to the location of the detour.  The gate is finally raised and we see Dan and Sam going through first. So the first team to reach the site of the detour which is the "rock quarry" is Sam and Dan.

The clue on the base of the ROAMING gnome says:  Blast:  Fill sand bags and build a protective bunker in a rock quarry.   The teams obviously get a lot more information such as how to reach the rock quarry, etc. etc. and this must be given to them after they get the ROAMING gnome since there is no room on the bottom of the gnome for all those papers later seen in the hands of the team.

I am still leaning the other way on that question.

I am getting ready to check out an old thread and see how I treated teams getting into customs for Detours, and if I counted that as the start of the detour or not (still looking for safety equipment, the only one I remember off the top of my head is a roadblock).

But if I do pick your way G-Man, I think that will kill another question.  As we never see when Meghan & Cheyne or Flight Time and Big Easy get to the work area.  THe first time we see them we see them together.

So this question then has no correct answer.

10 Points - Which team loses the most placings completing the Detour??

Sam & Dan
Meghan & Cheyne
Flight Time & Big Easy
Gary & Matt
Brian & Ericka
More then one team
None, they each start and finish in the same order

NOt even the none since we can't see when those two teams did in fact start.

I am making an executive decision (and it doesn't benefit me at all), I am counting getting to the safety gear to be the start of the Detour task.

And just so we know here were my choices.

10 points - Which team is the first to get to the Detour?
 0 points - 12 people answered this question - Sam & Dan
0 points - 3 people answered this question - Meghan & Cheyne
0 points - 2 people answered this question - Flight Time & Big Easy
0 points - 1 people answered this question - Gary & Matt
0 points - 1 people answered this question - Brian & Ericka

10 Points - Which team loses the most placings completing the Detour?
0 points - 1 people answered this question - Sam & Dan
0 points - 5 people answered this question - Meghan & Cheyne
0 points - 4 people answered this question - Flight Time & Big Easy
0 points - 1 people answered this question - Gary & Matt
 0 points - 1 people answered this question - Brian & Ericka
0 points - 3 people answered this question - More then one team
0 points - 5 people answered this question - None, they each start and end in the same position

I wil have this graded and scored in about an hour.

ANd I am basing this off of the clue for the Russian Detour.  As their needing the uniform is in (at the very least) the extra info provided, its the folded out pages that Dandrew reads that points that out.

2 things.
1. It says for some reason that Week 8 is closed and it shows Week 7 results there. And right above the Week 8 that is closed, there is another Week 8. (ie: there are two week 8s, the one that is closed is the Week 7 results.)

2. What do you mean by making a point?

EDIT: If you have NO Idea what I mean, here's an image.
