One thing that has been very impressive with Tammy and Victor is their ability to figure out the Chinese words in the clue that the English phonetic sounds are supposed to represent. As Victor said, the slightest tonal difference can lead to a big change in the meaning.
Heck, for someone who understands mandarin, I heard the customer say "good luck squid" for the "good luck fish" like T/V did in the detour. It was a very subtle difference. Almost like yeu vs. lyeu.
I also think the chef took pity on J/K in the task. They were still pretty far off on some of them.
