Redwings and Spoler being eliminated <///3 One of the closest finishes ever, and unfortunately you came up just a short by the smallest of margins. Don’t let that diminish what you’ve been able to accomplish; your legs this round and in past rounds were of a high standard.

The next round will be posted in the 8:00 Board time hour tomorrow morning (2 pm hour London, 8 pm hour Jakarta, 9 pm hour Manila).

Wow that was tough. I was so sure I was a goner, I'm surprised I'm that high (not that I'm complaining). Congrats to betheactress on a well-deserved victory and to everyone else on making it to the next round

DAY #50:
SITE: TERRAZAS DE LA POSTA, PURMAMARCA, ARGENTINA
TIME: 12:00 PM

Phil Keoghan: Hello again, designers! Welcome to the heart of South America. Not only are we on a new continent this round, we've got a new special guest joining us who knows all about this great land. Please welcome the host of TAR: Latin America, Toya Montoya!

Toya Montoya: ¡Hola y bienvenido! Phil hasn't got his café con leche yet, so he's going to be off at the bar while I explain to you what you're going to be doing this round.

We're here in northern Argentina, home to the Qulla. The Qulla are one of the many indigenous peoples in South America who face the threat of culture and traditional ways evaporating. We believe that these cultures are not only important to recognize and honor, but are not frequently highlighted by The Amazing Race. Thus, the theme for this round:

ROUND 5:
THE HEART OF THE SOUTHERN CROSS

Toya Montoya: In this round, you'll be designing a leg in South America, featuring at least one task and location with an indigenous theme. I hope we will be able to see a wide array of cultures showcased in your designs. ¡Buena suerte!

Here are the rules for this round:
* You can depart from anywhere in the world.
* Teams must fly into one of the countries in South America.
* The leg must contain at least one task with an indigenous theme as a core. This can be any task, whether it be one side of the Detour, Roadblock, ARI, Fast Forward, etc.
* You must also include a U-Turn on the leg. The U-Turn can be single, double, triple, blind, etc.
* You must include a Roadblock and a Detour.
* You are not permitted to design in a country that you have designed in on the previous rounds.

You will all have EIGHT days from the time this is posted to submit your design. Note that this is one day more than that the usual seven days; as a consequence, an extension will not be given out this round. You have to submit your design by sending a PM to the three judges, Kamineko, Pi/, and gamerfan09. You are only allowed to submit once, so pay attention to the details first before submitting it.

The top eight designers remain, but only six will advance to the next round. Just like last round, the two designers receiving the lowest scores will be eliminated from the game.

Toya Montoya: Before you begin designing, let me introduce to you the guest judges for this round!

Our first guest judge is another veteran in this forum and an avid fan of The Amazing Race. Having played in many fantasy games and hosted several games, he also participated in previous Design Challenges, both as guest judge and a designer. Please give a warm welcome to…

:cheer: Eragon! :cheer:

Our next guest judge is someone who’s really close to The Amazing Race: Design Challenge. Having hosted several games before, he also has a personal connection with the Design Challenge, because he’s the original creator of The Amazing Race: Design Challenge! Without further ado, please give a warm welcome back to…

:cheer: Cocoa! :cheer:

They will help form the five-person judging panel for this round, alongside Kamineko, Gamerfan09, and Pi/.

Let's get ready to begin Round 5 of The Amazing Race: Design Challenge VIII!

Best of luck everyone!

Desingers- Your indigenous-themed tasks should focus on present-day indigenous groups in South America. For example, we had this question: Do the Incas count as a indigenous group?

The Incan empire was a political unit, not an ethnicity. The descendants of the Inca still live in South America (such as the Q'ero), so a task based on the culture/traditions of those present-day groups would be fine. A task based solely on the practices of the ancient Inca would not qualify.

Falkland Islands had no indigenous population, by the way. It was uninhabited. People wouldn’t just hop on a boat to an island in cold waters and cold weather lol.
