I guess they have left the city proper and are in the suburbs.
I don't think they are in Rio anymore.

Regarding Venezuela: Production might not let teams travel in Caracas due to safety reasons, but how about a leg in the Canaima National Park like in TARLA2? Or would it still be considered too dangerous?

Good question?? I think it might be safe, its mainly a tourist area with nearby Angel Falls.

Although it might be safe it will cost more for insurance and the production crew does not want that.

I would love for them to go to Venezuela, but right now the country has suffered from heavy flooding and landslides recently, so I don't think it would be feasible for this season. Also, hi. I've been lurking for a little while, but this is my first post.

The finale will be somewhere where they can show off their HD equipment.

Today is now the 22nd day of filming, interesting.

Niagara Falls?

I would be the happiest person ever... that's where i live! (Canadian side though)

When did teams arrived in Rio? Could there be a second leg somewhere else in Brazil like inland?

My question is, why on earth is this race running longer than normal? Are they going back to a 13 leg race?

22 or 23 days is not the 25 to 28 days it used to be with 13 episodes.

Flight schedules between countries don't always work like clockwork, either.

I been counting, it may be 25 days and 13 legs if plausible if the race ends on Tuesday.

Considering they had the TBC leg it is possible to have 13 legs.

And 1st episode almost HAS to be double premiere, if it is a TBC.

That would be very interesting.  That could also maybe explain why there are so many teams from the same season.

That's what I was thinking, unless they decided to just put in more teams in the promo to get people excited to watch. They might not necessarily even have anything to do with the new season.

Looks like we also have a date for the season premiere, February 20, 2011.

Remember how much that snow storm affected the airports in Europe......they might have had a hard time rescheduling flights to South America.....to get all the cast and crew down there......who knows....When I was looking for flights from different airports in Europe to South American....I saw a lot of flights delayed up to 12 hours because of snow impact.....flights got cancelled......then you have to get all the those people plus the ones on the flights that finally did make it to South America.....it also might explain why we have lost the teams at times....with no sightings.......they were just parked somewhere waiting on weather and flights...

When they did the promo for TAR11, they included several teams that were not actually in the Race.

At least CBS and WRP are not pretending this is a season of "All Stars" or fan favorites, but are teams they decided to give a second chance to.  At least they got that part right.  :cmaslol

The leg in Rio sounds very much like the Rio leg in TARLA. Even the pitstop.
