DAY #35:
SITE: THE GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA, GIZA, EGYPT
TIME: 3.00 PM

Phil Keoghan: Designers, the results are in! All four judges have submitted their scores, which means it's time for the Results Show. I also want to thank Glamazon Racer for becoming the guest judge for this Round. At the end of this round, after three withdrawals, unfortunately two of you are going to be eliminated, which means we will have our Top 10!

Once again, I would like for no interruptions until the Results Show has finished.

So, let's begin the Results Show!

Declive and NELs :torche Thank you both for signing up. You are both good designers, competition was just really good this season. I hope to see you back for future DCs!

I wish best of luck to the top 10! I blame myself for choosing a country with little information on its culture online. (seriously one of the sites I got information from looked like it was made in the 2000's and hasn't been updated) I will sign up for TAR DC IX when the time comes!

Sorry to see you go, Declive and NELs. You guys both did really well and you should be proud of yourselves but the competition is tough! Great work and hope to see you designing again! :2hearts:

Congrats to Bookworm on a well-deserved win. That leg was absolutely epic! :2hearts: And congrats also to everybody else for your respective finishes - well done!

Here is a breakdown of my scores in detail for anybody interested:

One look down any of the 5 point columns tells you just how close so many of the designs were!

And once again a big thank you to the hosts for the opportunity to guest judge in this round which was really special for me. I'll be watching the rest of the season with much excitement! :2hearts:
I'd rather walk alone than let them throw dirty confetti. ♥

DAY #36:
SITE: BELVEDERE PALACE, VIENNA, AUSTRIA
TIME: 10.00 AM

Phil Keoghan: Welcome in, designers! We're standing in Vienna, Austria's largest city. You might want to know why we brought you to Vienna. Does the next round have to do with music? History? Food? Good guesses, but it's none of the above.

Several organizations create annual lists of what they believe to be the most livable cities in the world. These indices are usually based on several factors such as healthcare, stability, environment, education, culture, and infrastructure. The 2019 list of farandwide.com placed Vienna at the top of their list as the most liveable city in the world, and that's why we've chosen this city to host this round of Design Challenge Eight.

ROUND 4:
UTOPIA

Phil Keoghan: For this round, you'll be designing a leg in one of the world's most liveable cities, with USA cities excepted. We're all excited to see what your designs in urban environments are like!

However, that's not all. The winner of Round 3, Bookworm, received an advantage which was messaged to him after the Round 3 Results Show. He was able to remove 18 of the top 58 cities from being able to be designed in this round. The cities he chose to remove are:

Show content
Dusseldorf, GermanyFrankfurt, GermanyBasel, SwitzerlandBerlin, Germany
Bern, SwitzerlandNuremberg, GermanySingapore, SingaporeStuttgart, Germany
Canberra, AustraliaParis, FranceLondon, United KingdomGlasgow, United Kingdom
Tokyo, JapanBirmingham, United KingdomYokohama, JapanAberdeen, United Kingdom
Osaka, JapanHong Kong, China

On top of that, Bookworm was able to designate the remaining 40 cities in to "Night" and "Day" categories, forcing designers to create a leg in a certain time for each city. These are the designations he made:

Show content
"Day"

Vienna, AustriaZurich, SwitzerlandVancouver, CanadaAuckland, New Zealand
Geneva, SwitzerlandSydney, AustraliaAmsterdam, NetherlandsWellington, New Zealand
Ottawa, CanadaHamburg, GermanyPerth, AustraliaMontreal, Canada
Stockholm, SwedenHelsinki, FinlandCalgary, CanadaBrisbane, Australia
Lyon, FranceBarcelona, SpainEdinburgh, United KingdomPrague, Czech Republic
Kobe, JapanLjubljana, SloveniaDubai, United Arab Emirates

"Night"

Munich, GermanyCopenhagen, DenmarkToronto, CanadaMelbourne, AustraliaLuxembourg, Luxembourg
Oslo, NorwayBrussels, BelgiumAdelaide, AustraliaDublin, IrelandLisbon, Portugal
Milan, ItalyMadrid, SpainRome, ItalyLeipzig, GermanyNagoya, Japan
Belfast, United KingdomPointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe

Now that you know the round theme, here are the rules for this round:
* You can depart from anywhere in the world.
* You must design a leg in one world's most liveable cities. The 40 eligible cities are named in the spoiler tag just above.
* If your chosen city is a "Day" city, you must design a day leg. If it's a "Night" city, you must design a night leg.
* You must include a Roadblock and a Detour.
* At least one task must relate to one of the assessment criteria for the cities: stability, healthcare, culture, environment, education or infrastructure. Make sure to note which task pertains to this requirement somewhere in your design!
* You must NOT design in a country that you have designed in on the previous rounds.

You will all have SEVEN days from the time this is posted to submit your design. You have to submit your design by sending a PM to the three judges, Kamineko, Pi/, and gamerfan09. You are only allowed to submit once, so pay attention to the details first before submitting it.

We're down to our top ten, and there are only 8 tickets to the next round. Therefore, the two designers receiving the lowest average scores will be eliminated from the game.

Phil Keoghan: One more thing before you get to designing. Let's introduce the guest judge for this round!

Our next judge is someone who is one of the biggest fans of reality TV, but has a deep love for The Amazing Race more than anything else. He's someone who can identify a leg through all its in and outs, and has seen every single edition of the show. Let's give a warm welcome to...

:cheer: Ray/ImANewUser! :cheer:

Ray is sure to know what's what in terms of great Amazing Race leg. He will be part of the 4-person judging panel for this round, alongside Kamineko, Gamerfan09, and Pi/.

Without further ado, let's begin Round 4 of The Amazing Race: Design Challenge VIII!

Best of luck everyone!

Yes, except for the Pit Start and any transportation (flying into Osaka and then taking a bus to Kobe, for example).

Hey guys! I just want to add a note on my personal preference, especially for this round. But, this can also applied to the upcoming rounds as well if you wish.

If you're planning to design a night leg, I would like that the pictures you're using fit with the timing of your leg, which are night pictures. Same applied to day legs. This will make the presentation feels more real if you're able to include suitable pictures according to the time.

Good luck all! :cheer:
