I would like to see some comments on 'thinking the unthinkable'. Could the lack of spoilers be because people have become increasingly uninterested in TAR? Maybe people see travelers with backpacks and camera crews and react by thinking there is TAR who cares?
TAR's viewership (thanks CBS for the 10-episode sprees
) and even editing has gone on a decline since noticeably after the 20th season. There's no doubt about that. Nobody can justify that it's not.
Maybe people did see and notice the flock of racers and film quality cameras, but probably didn't care enough to share on social media. That's usually the case with all live updating. Usually when there is an event hosted at a location, people will stop and stare (e.g. Frites duel last season). When travelers are jumping from place to place, people don't really think much of it.
I think it has to do with countries and places. Rural places are definitely ones we don't find a lot of sightings. Rainforest/jungle is another.
Places like Africa and India are rare with sightings. Like TAR Israel had a lot of Africa on the route so we didn't get many sightings.
Urban and city are usually where most sightings come from if ppl pay attention (airport too)!
Also, cast isn't really "special" or easily recognizable as the previous 2 seasons. Then again, 29 did well in sightings so I thinks it's countries and places.
