Now that both Express Passes are rid and have cleared most evil, the race can continue in full "swing", so to say. In a leg full of danger with carnivorous animals, a snappy Logan, and an elimination to top it all off, the episode provided a close insight of a typical and rather harmonious African safari in the TAR universe.....

Who am I kidding?! The editing made this episode look bad. And the amount of navigation and task drama in this leg deserved better. One thing that I am not kidding, OJ is making me type smarter, or am I?
LEG 5 (Zimbabwe) EPISODE REVIEWDrink: Freshly squeezed non-alcoholic orange juice
We get no time to even blink and teams are shown starting off where they stood as of last episode. Finally, the EP's are extinct for now. And we immediately see other teams piling in to the orphanage to get their next clue by Phil. Tiffany & Krista even frantically tried to U-Turn the leg winners. What a scramble!
ROADBLOCK: (Who wants to take it back to Batoka "George"?)
I enjoyed watching this season 1 Switchback, and seeing the gorge in high-definition this time satisfyingly spot out all the details and river color in brighter hues. But - wouldn't this count as a trip back into Zambia again or have we thought this all wrong since season 1?
ROADBLOCK SCORE: 9/10 (in terms of first Detour task history), in this new era case 8.7/10.
DETOUR: (Encaged & Feed or Paddle & Retrieve)
Though this task did provide lots of drama from the laughable rivaling teams, Tiffany & Krista and Logan & Chris the tasks were as linear as well... a line. I didn't love the tasks, but I have to respect them. By the end of tonight, my final say is that this was a relatively boring Detour choice, except for the crocodiles.
DETOUR SCORE: 7.8/10
And then we have the Pit Stop, but not before we see avalanches of fruit falling everywhere along the trail. Crazy as it is, I loved the turtle-paced foot race to the Pit Stop. It's a refreshing spin, but here is the main thing these newer seasons need to keep the race alive and spectacular:
MORE SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC! I can't stress this enough.
OVERALL: 7.9/10My overall ranking would have been so much higher, even close to a 10 if the editing had been mastered to draw suspense in this race cast scenario between two teams rivaling each other to the three-way stroll to the Pit Stop. The editing currently is just flat and doesn't add anything interesting.
More orange juice for me.
Just a heads up for next week regarding updating:
I will be attending a wedding ceremony & reception for a friend scheduled on Friday. Unfortunately, this will mean I will have to miss the Paris, France leg on live TV.
The review for that episode will most likely not be posted on the live updating thread for episode 6 until Saturday. Luckily, I will be having champagne to keep up with the TAR27 drinks theme I'm "secretly" doing here.
