I can see why a lot of people are annoyed by the constant focus on the Green Team and Team Texas.  That's probably why the editing is viewed as being awful.  But there was one very good thing about the rivalry:  Team Texas burning their Express Pass on the Roadblock instead of at the Detour and then finding out the Hours of Operation!  That was funny to me!

No Belle Book, that is precisely NOT the reason why the editing sucks.

The editing has been slowly falling by the seams beginning TAR25.

On TAR25/26...
-Not all teams are shown reading the clue when they get it
-Not all teams are shown departing the Pit Stop
-Not all teams are shown in airport scramble (they already get on the flight and it sucked)
-Not all teams are told of their placement upon checking in at the Pit Stop.

On 27 so far is is 100% worse because...
-It has all the problems above and more
-The editing is just so sloppy, you never feel like it's a proper Race. We would stay at a task for loads of minutes, then the minute a team gets to the next task, we get a lot of focus there, and all the other teams are just shown as "getting their clue" in the most basic way possible of just flashing their name with the CURRENTLY IN XTH PLACE subtitle.
-There is simply too much focus on the tasks rather than the competition. It is always more fun to see teams chasing after each other getting stuff rather than see them do a task.

And the thing that 100% sucks is that the Secret Scenes (more so this season than 25-26) have all scenes that could have been edited in for an amazing episode. A lot of the Secret Scenes are definitely good and would have helped the show. Full scenes such as teams getting lost, the reveal of a reason that eliminated a team, a team having a meltdown on an otherwise uninspired Detour are all on the Secret Scenes, and it really is mind-boggling that they would choose to omit those amazing scenes and keep terrible ones in.

So yes... TAR needs to step it up with editing. Even if the tasks aren't culturally relevant 100% of the time, the editing would really help! (See 24 Kuala Lumpur, arguably my favorite leg from that atrocity of a season... bad, culturally irrelevant tasks and some of the teams were total garbage but very fun editing and competition made it a good ep)

Speaking of this leg, ALL the Secret Scenes delivered for EVERY single team.

We had:
-The amazing revelation that Danielle is afraid of ketchup <3
-Cindy & Rick somehow failing to put on a poncho as they ran to start the leg
-Tanner & Josh not only misusing their Express Pass, but staying in a TENT outside of the hotel while EVERYONE got a room
-More fun Kelsey & Joey strategy talk <3
-Some Mona & Beth/Kym & Alli style editing that could have been used to paint Justin as this threat that everyone talks trash about and wants him out (could have DEFINITELY enhanced the story for this leg by showing both teams as having a slightly heroic edit to the audience[Tanner & Josh (evil)- Justin & Diana (good) and get their plans foiled].
-Jazmine & Danielle not only crossing the border early but running past the HoO board THREE times
-More Cindy & Rick gossiping about the EP <3
-Cindy & Rick giving out a confessional about naming their Giraffe at the Detour then Rick saying they named their sofa Oscar the Couch

IDK, it was just really so weird that the editors would leave out fun stuff like that in favour of spending THIRTY minutes on a Roadblock all about heights that was linear in nature and didn't do much other than give us gorgeous Victoria Falls =/

Yeah the RB is not so linear with potentially losing like the Trackstar. Something could happen just like last season final task (aka Hayley).

The thing they should cut is that the teams were talking too much about the plan to U-turn the Green team and how Texas misused their EP.

I enjoys that gorgeous RB and how the teams enjoying it.

I think Team Texas suffered a case of not being able to see the forest for the trees.  They were so focused on getting rid of the Green Team that they didn't stop to think about when the best time would be to use the Express Pass!  They looked too far ahead and paid the price for it.

I agree! :funny: This serves as a lesson to them, and to future racers who would plan on U-turning somebody while having an EP.

I should watch those secret scenes. However, it doesn't work on my geographic location. :(

But, I am here to say that those scenes would fit really well on show! They don't have to be all in the secret scenes. I'm not sure if TAR will be allowed to always have the show for 90 minutes instead of the usual 60 (43 minutes without commercials?), but I'm open to the idea of having them extend the show to 90 minutes if they can and should.

If they can't, then they better listen to the viewers' opinions on the editing.

I still don't get the benefit of using U-turn which is placed right in front of pitstop. Eventhough you're second to last and you can see another team 20 seconds behind you, you can just make a quick run to the mat without wasting your U-turn, especially this early. Even you don't know where the other teams are, it doesn't matter, you already reach the pitstop.

I think this new placement of the U-turn is just for the team who'll be using it for personal reason or just to annoy their rival.

I agree 100%. This U-turn was completely useless and the only way it would be used was for vindictive reasons.

I found another possible way wherein the U-turn can be strategic.

Let's say there are 3 teams fighting for the bottom spots: A, B, and C. Let's say Team A and Team B are allies. Team A knows they're 6th while they also know that Team B is fighting for last, so Team A can U-turn Team C to save Team B.

This will only be useful for teams that are fighting for last, and since teams do not know that they have to keep racing, this can happen.

I wonder what will happen to the W-turn next week. If it goes unused... :groan: , because I wanna see some race drama. :hrt:

i just wached the episode & people are saying that the detour was culturally irrelevent. I don't believe that entirely firstly the Croquet, Zimbabwe was a British colony so when it was colonised many rich British people came to Zimbabwe or Southern Rhodesia and left their mark. Also the Co-op detour was a look in to something many locals would make to earn a living and they are very popular among Zimbabwe. It was also my favourite episode i loved it!  :hearts:

I loved the episode.  But I'm a Justin & Diana fan!  I sat on the edge of my seat hoping, cheering, and finally laughing because Team Texas screwed up and used their express pass too early!!  I loved the despair I saw on Team Texas' faces when Justin & Diana finished ahead of them at crouquet!  I cheered when Justin & Diana said they would not U-turn anyone, because I was hoping they wouldn't play down to Team Texas' level!!  I think Team Texas is a strong team, but they need to run the race and not worry about the other teams...That will be their downfall!
Go Green Team!!!

"In the history of TAR, if you U-TURN a team behinds you, it never works out"...
Justin, have you watched TAR 18? -_- Kent and Vyxsin's U-TURN on Jaime and Cara?

It sucks that such a magical moment of flying over Niagara Falls gets destroyed by the U-TURN drama.

And Tanner and Josh. Skipping such an amazing Roadblock? Omg, when teams get obsessed with something they make really stupid decisions huh?

Okay Justin and Diana donating everything that they have and upholding the U-TURN pact makes this a little better.

But which idiot planned for the U-TURN right before the pit-stop seriously.

............................okay episode ended. I got confused by the edit, leg planning and what goes on.

And getting Tanner and Josh to decide giving the EP right there at the pit-stop... it seems like they don't even know? Was it made clear to them?

I understand why others don't like this leg because it's out of everyone's usual expectation, but I disagree with the hate.

To me, this leg really stands out after the first 3 generic legs. True, I also don't like the focus of rivals between Texas and Green, but the misuse of EP and unexpected HoO and KOR twist really delivered! At least it makes Texas feel frustrated all the episode. To be honest, I'm not interested if this leg is like a normal double U-Turn leg design, which would be like all teams gang up to out Green which is not fun to watch at all, at least how it teaches teams a lesson - don't be so sure about how the game will be played and expect the unexpected!

And I don't agree this leg is boring, at least the RB setting is fascinating and we can see many teams enjoying the scenic aspect, way better than first Leg 2 and 3 where they don't care where they go at all.

And after 4 legs, I still don't get the hate by Texas on Green. It sounds so silly and out of no reason, Justin can be loud like Mirna, but clearly he's not against Texas and not cocky like Art/JJ, I just think Texas took it too personally when Green beat them in Leg 2 tango RB.. The injury caused due to fighting for 2nd place is also unnecessary.

At first I was majorly annoyed by that, too, and facepalmed all over the place, but they explained in an interview they thought it might have been for 1st place.

To me, I think it's the battle between the two strongest team and I need time to come to terms with it.

Some part of Justin doing the alliance talking and such didn't show the worry/fear that there's a chance he might get U-TURN. I'm sure he's afraid it might affect them, and that's why he's constantly talking about it.

Not to talk about Tanner and Josh, VERY SMART PEOPLE, directing all the hate to Justin/Diana so that people forget that these two are a threat as well -_-

I agree that the Roadblock is indeed fascinating and FINALLY, teams are talking about how amazing the race is etc... but omg, it being overshadowed by the entire U-TURN drama is what annoys me.

I am okay with the mid-leg HoO because it changes things up and since this leg is a KOR, it doesn't really affect the last place team and made it unfair for them to catch up. But putting a HoO plus a U-TURN, on a leg that doesn't eliminate a team... omg, too much unexpectancy and I think I need to come to terms with it too. It ensures that teams don't expect they know what's happening.. But I wish it's the other way round (no offence to Justin and Diana), but I think it would have been good edit/drama that Justin kept on talking about how he knows the race.. then all these actually happened to their team instead. LOL :funny: (Of course he wouldn't.. since any TAR fan would know that it's better to use the EP for a task later on in the leg...)

I didn't get the other teams' utter shock at Tanner & Josh using the Express Pass when they did.  Like, it wouldn't have been a fail if there hadn't been an equalizer.  Otherwise, they could have very well been able to U-Turn Justin & Diana even if they wouldn't have been eliminated.  But the show showing every team gasping in horror about the EP was really odd.

I agree Tanner & Josh definitely missed out on a great Roadblock, it was not a smart move. I know that they should have used their Express Pass sometime later in the leg. We viewers don't know what it is like to be in their position. It was their decision and they want to get any means to be ahead of the pack. I still root for them.  :yess: At least they used their Express Pass for "strategy" rather than not using it using it like Jessica & John in Season 22.

After watching the ep, it wasn't that bad. But maybe because I have lessen my expectation A LOT after reading this thread. The greeting was nice, the RB was so cool and the Wood Detour is pretty good. It's only the golf or whatever it is Detour that was just stupidly easy and super IMBALANCED. The fact that the U-Turn is put behind this wasn't helping either.

I also hate the fact that they implicitly force teams to give money to charity at the Pit Stop? Like, what? How about they handle it like the one in Season 19 while teams earn money from the actual task before give it to the orphanage? Or like the one in Season 24 where teams make a toy from RB before giving to the kids? Force them to give their personal money is just stupid and awkward. :res:

HoH during the middle is okay for me since it's KOR. But 10 minutes different time for departure? Really? How about 15 minutes apart for each 2 teams or something? Because it made the flight and the RB super pointless.

Teams have NO personal money. They only have the money given for each leg or what they saved from the previous leg.. So they were required to turn all that over, but they get $65 for this leg.

Remember the Leg one $$ for the orphanage in Season 19 that all the teams screwed up on? That mistake is what got Ethan Z out first...
