Is anyone else annoyed that Zambia won't get a Pitstop?

That hands down was one of the worst episodes in years. I agree with all that's been said so far:

- The U-turn trash talking for a good 10 minutes that amounted into absolutely nothing
- The horrible placement of the U-Turn
- The HoO in the middle of the leg with a looming U-turn

Yikes!

Shame this cast and route can't save this season, both seem decent for the most part.

I think that the boys played really dumm - why give up express pass for possibility to u-turn a team which probably wont be eliminated? Sorry guys but that was really dumm.... :hoot:

I'm tired with Tanner & Josh and Justin & Diana always getting big amount of airtime. Hopefully it's going to be more diverse with teams.

After rewatching the episode, I noticed some things.

The croquet detour was not mentioned as anything related to Zimbabwean culture. Maybe a brief description from Phil would make this somewhat better, but the detour was really imbalanced. Denise & JE arrived at the detour in last, yet they finished 3rd by doing the croquet detour. ChacAttack were doing fine on the other side of the detour, and they were the 3rd or 4th to start it, yet at the end of the episode, they weren't done with the detour yet. On a somewhat unrelated note, ChacAttack's reaction to Texas using the EP was :funny: for me. The detour imbalance is I think the only thing I didn't like from this episode. The episode with all the drama was really good! :funny:

Tanner & Josh gave a confessional before leaving for the detour. They said that their new plan was to give it to the team next to them, so I'm wondering if they'll be waiting at the pit stop for that one team. ???

On other confessionals of Justin & Diana and Tanner & Josh, both teams said that they'd use the U-turn on each other when they get the opportunity to on the next one. (Spoiler alert)

I can't wait for the U-turn in India! :hearts:

I also thought that Logan & Chris weren't getting enough screentime, but I must've disregarded Logan's continuous blabbering on Chris. They seem to be working fine despite that though. :funny:

I actually loved the drama? But I agree, stop focusing on just THEM two. We ARE shown what happens to the other teams, but only when they make errors... i.e Jazmine & Danielle... it would be nice to see some funny/lol moments from them but we're stuck seeing them get lost to the Roadblock which was a good and bad addition to the episode imo.

I don't know... the drama in TAR 20 was more fun to watch. Brenchel and Vanessa/Ralph still had their moments, that's probably why. There's nothing redeeming about Texas and the Green Team (though, I do like Texas... sorry don't hurt me  I NEVER like M/M teams but I like them a lot for some reason.. probably because they're the voice of the audience... hate Justin).

What's really dragging the season down for me is the TASKS. They're so generic and boring and it doesn't help that the Detours are incredibly unbalanced. I'm sorry I mention TAR 25 like all the time but they had: the punting task, the sheep task, the Denmark Detour, the Morocco Detour, the knights/glass task... just to name a few. These tasks just feel so uninspired!

Brenchel and Vanessa/Ralph>>>>>>x100000000 over the rivalry on 27.

TAR20, even though the rivalry was there, at least the other teams were still there rather than the constant focus on them.

I'm pretty much the opposite from almost everyone else here.  I thought the first half of this Leg was awful, but once they reached the HoO it became great.  Absolutely loved Tanner & Josh totally wasting their EP.  :yess:

I LOVED the idea of having the U-Turn at the Pitstop, and the unexpected KOR was a great addition.

The thing that annoyed me most though, was the all the time spent on showing us this rivalry between Tanner & Josh and Justin & Diana, and their whole U-Turn Strategy, for it to amount to absolutely nothing.  :groan:

They also spoiled the outcome of Tanner & Josh not U-Turning Justin & Diana, when it showed one of them saying in their confessional (I think it was one of their confessionals just after getting the clue for the Pitstop) - "The next time the U-Turn shows up we're gonna use it on Justin & Diana."  So it was obvious they didn't use the one on this Leg.

And, once again, unlike almost everyone else, I'm finding this Season extremely boring.  I really don't care for the Teams.  :'(
There were 5 GREAT teams this Season for me, and 3 of them we're the first 3 Eliminated.  The other 2, Chris & Logan - Who's constant bickering is starting to annoy me, and Cindy & Rick - Who are now the only team left that I genuinely want to see do well.

The Drama doesn't interest me a great deal either, for the simple fact that its ALL to do with TeamTexas Vs. GreenTeam.  blahblah   :gaah:

Basically, the last 20 mins or so of this Leg is the best thing we've got all Season.  I'm really hoping this is the start of it picking up, because I really haven't been enjoying it so far.  :'(

I still don't get the benefit of using U-turn which is placed right in front of pitstop. Eventhough you're second to last and you can see another team 20 seconds behind you, you can just make a quick run to the mat without wasting your U-turn, especially this early. Even you don't know where the other teams are, it doesn't matter, you already reach the pitstop.

I think this new placement of the U-turn is just for the team who'll be using it for personal reason or just to annoy their rival.

Of the four legs so far, I like this one the most. Joey and Kelsey are the unexpected stars (for this episode at least).

I was initially surprised by the strange placement of the U Turn board, but it made sense given that it would be a KOR leg.

So, will this season have a second KOR?

I agree 100%. This U-turn was completely useless and the only way it would be used was for vindictive reasons.

Must be the worst episode ever! Half of it is promo for the falls the rest is only trash talk between Greens and Texas. Challenges were so easy and simple it is not worthy of the amazing race!

I've seen posts about how the Croquet task is not culturally relevant in Zimbabwe. To shed some light. Zimbabwe was formerly known as Southern Rhodesia, Rhodesia and Zimbabwe Rhodesia. It used to be British colony up from the late 1800's up until its independence from United Kingdom in 1965, only recognized in 1980. Croquet on the other hand originated from United Kingdom. So, maybe it is possible that the British brought and played croquet in Zimbabwe. The site of the Detour, the Victoria Falls Hotel used to house British royalties and held political meetings.  :spy:

~ Zambia was last visited in Season 1, and Zimbabwe, is a new country visited. I expected great tasks, all I got was rivalries. (:;) Looking back at Season 25, when they visited a new country, Malta. They showed rivalries there but it was subtle . It focused on Malta and the Maltese tasks and how teams felt about it. On the bright side, at least I got to see the Victoria Falls again. What a marvelous sight to see which I hope to see in person. Also, the visit to the orphanage. The pit stop greeter is the founder of the orphanage. I like how TAR gives back to the countries they visited :) Can we see other teams win the next few legs.

I feel the same. Tired of that. Sorry for both teams, but I hope they get eliminated soon. There are more teams in there! At least I suppose that will change when one of them gets eliminated. I hope.
Even though I'm tired of both teams, it's obvious that they have the best positions. They are "the best" teams... I can see any of them winning and  :'( (:;) :gaah:

Now that I realize it, the rivalry is indeed taking too much screentime. It's in every episode, and it's the highlight of every episode. I don't mind all the U-turn talk amounting to nothing, but some teams lose valuable screentime because of the highlight.

My opinion on the edit: I don't hate it, but I find it annoying. For this one, I blame the editors. :groan:

I can see why a lot of people are annoyed by the constant focus on the Green Team and Team Texas.  That's probably why the editing is viewed as being awful.  But there was one very good thing about the rivalry:  Team Texas burning their Express Pass on the Roadblock instead of at the Detour and then finding out the Hours of Operation!  That was funny to me!

I think Team Texas suffered a case of not being able to see the forest for the trees.  They were so focused on getting rid of the Green Team that they didn't stop to think about when the best time would be to use the Express Pass!  They looked too far ahead and paid the price for it.

I feel people are whining because the design wasn't "perfect". So I'll just give my two cents on every element of the leg:

1. RB. First and foremost, TAR has always been about showcasing how the world is wonderful. Scenery porn has been present since the first episode. Even if it's a competition, the show is also an opportunity for the racers to take in the view.

2. The HoO. For people who don't cross borders frequently, you should know that it can get pretty messy. If you have luck you can cross in the first 15 minutes, but sometimes you can get stuck for 2+ hours, so the whole scheduling could have been ruined and teams would have been impossibly spread out without the bunching at shoestrings. Plus, it was a curve ball thrown at the teams, who frankly probably deserved some rest after their extremely long trip from South America. Also, think about having to have kids at the orphanage wait up until late at night.

3. The Detour. While I agree the cultural relevance should receive more of a spotlight, I feel the choice offered was a difficult one. Think about it, teams who went for co-op tended to be teams who had no idea what croquet is.

4. The U-Turn placement. After giving teams a treat at the RB and a chance to relax, a way to keep them on their toes is not knowing if they're U-Turned right before the Pit Stop. At the same time, if teams don't know it's KOR, being with the kids at the orphanage would help us see teams' true colors (will the compassion inspired by the charity overcome the teams' competitiveness or vindictiveness). Or if they learn it's a KOR they could add some padding to the next leg.

To me , the theme for this leg was emotional manipulation, making choices and dealing with the unexpected. Specially at the end: team Texas had made a pact with all other teams over who would get the EP, but the deal didn't come through. No they're at the point of gaining 5 more enemies depending on their choice.
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

Well on TAR20, the other teams got involved too and took sides.  Here, it seems no one else really cares lol

Tanner & Josh's plan was okay.  But it was thwarted by the equalizer and Leg design which was mainly done for the TBC Leg.  Otherwise, the least it could've done if it worked was get Justin & Diana toward the bottom of the pack.  Or even eliminated since the giraffe side of the Detour was tedious and time consuming.
