During season 17, it was decided that we couldn't make assumptions (It came up after the circus HoO, IIRC) without physically seeing a team take the clue out of the box, or being given a subtitle.
Damn it. I miss Clutch....
On season 17, it was a detour task where we had very incomplete information.
This was the question:
10 Points – Which team is next to last to start the “circus” task?
I had decided (and this was also going back to earlier seasons, that simply getting the clue doesn't count as starting a task, so that through off the option that we had the most info on.
I have stated several criteria that can be used to start a choice based task (Detour, Roadblock) one being making the choice (which side or which racer), do getting to the areas where you would don protective or costume gear.
On the leg in season 17, noses (which were needed for both task) where put on both, after some teams choose (like Jill & Thomas) which task they were doing and while some teams were deciding which tasks today (like Gary & Mallory). I have also used when teams enter the specific arenas for their tasks. On none of those three criteria's were enough information given to answer the specific question of which team was last to start (and in fact the criteria would give you different answers for each). Thats why I went with awarded free points for everyone.
Now I did make an error on this part as for some reason I thought they got their fruit inside the hall, they don't they had multiple tables out of the hall that they could get fruit from. Of which we see Kisha (then hear Mallory saying thinks), but see Zev get one next, and then see Mallory with her's. We see no other fruit grabbing (though we see Flight Time, Luke, and Kent about to get fruit). I had used them entering with their fruit (which enough data points are there to score). But with just those three It's is possible for either Ron & Christina or Jet & Cord to have gained the most positions.
I really, don't like given more free points (especially on a question I got right, damn it). But someone getting a nagging point over this one.
