On Joab's thread he provided this picture which shows Kisha with a clue envelope. It does look like she is tearing one open.

Physics alone is not enough.

Not apropos of the quiz, but in that ^ picture, Flight Time is on the right.  It looks like he's approaching the clue box.  So the question is, was there another staircase on that side, or did he overshoot the clue box and is coming back?

I remember there being two staircases. I think it shows them in Phil's voiceover segment.

Yes there are two staircases and  on my big screen HD image it really indicates that Kisha & Jen got it first.

The shot def looks like K/J got there first, but without a currently in first place logo there is no way to say that R/C or even the Goths couldn't have gotten there first...right?

I think the vid more or less shows a whole group entering the hall together.

I can't even remember what I put,

I love to pick nits so here is one for this week.  Question #5 who is the first to get to the first clue box after leaving the pit stop.  We actually never see who gets to the clue box first.  There is a mass rush up the stairs and into the room with the clue box.  The next scene shows Kisha and Jen walking away with what looks like the clue envelope in their hand (but are we sure it is the clue envelope?)  We also see the Globetrotters and the Cowboys along with Luke and Zev and Justin milling around.  But we do not see Gary and Mallory, or Ron and Christina, or Kent and Vyxsin. So have they already gotten the clue?  If you follow the same practice you did last week and in previous shows, the team seen opening the clue and reading it first are Flight Time and Big Easy before Phil appears and explains the clue is the team you have deemed to have received and read the clue first.   To compound the matter, the start of the roadblock is presenting the mango and papaya along with the tea to the auctioneer.  In this event the first to do so is the Cowboy, followed in order by Vyxsin, a Globetrotter, Kisha and Luke.

So who is on first?
On who starts the roadblock first (and damn this goes back to the awesome season 17, the best indicator (when no subtitles by production) is footage of racers who have decided to do the task.  The episodes shows those racers (at least the first five) entire into the hall that they must grab the fruit and then drink an obscene amount of tea.  That view ends before Ron, Flight Time, or Zev enter.  But thinks to the completion order we know that Ron & Christina gained the most (no matter if they were the sixth to start or the last).

As for Kisha & Jen, the reason I didn't give the points to Margie & Luke the other day is because we never saw him with a clue (even though we all agree that he would have been first).  With the new HD and a big screen you can see them with a clue.  Now if I only had picked that option.  I did pick Ron and Christina for the Roadblock based solely off of the stereo type that someone with asian heritage would better know teas.

While its possible that a team (not shown in that first shot), was the first there but since Kent & Vyxsin, Ron & Christina and Gary & Mallory all get passed by the teams we do see (on the last outdoor shot before teams enter) its very doubtful.

But with the footage given the best answer on this is Kisha & Jen.

But in past games, you have awarded first to the team shown reading the clue before Phil enters to explain what the clue means.  I agree we do see what seems to be Kisha and Jen obviously with the clue before a bunch of the others, but the Goths and Ron and Christina are not shown so they could very well have gotten the clue before the sisters.  I think you have to be consistent and say it can't be determined who was first or give it to the Glovetrotters since they are the team seen first to read the roadblock clue.

During season 17, it was decided that we couldn't make assumptions (It came up after the circus HoO, IIRC) without physically seeing a team take the clue out of the box, or being given a subtitle.

G-Man

I award points based on the criteria below (and in the order of relevance):

1.  Subtitles by the Producers (the only time I have overridden this, that I can recall is when we got duplicate subtitles on one specific task).

2.  Visual evidence

Like the leg in China, where I awarded points to Gary & Mallory as the first team shown with a clue (even though I thought Luke & Margie absolutely should have been the first team) the first team shown with a clue was Gary & Mallory.  And like this leg no subtitles where given.

Based on the 1st criteria not being there the 2nd wins out and thats Kisha & Jen.

Damn it.  I miss Clutch....

On season 17, it was a detour task where we had very incomplete information.

This was the question:

10 Points – Which team is next to last to start the “circus” task?

I had decided (and this was also going back to earlier seasons, that simply getting the clue doesn't count as starting a task, so that through off the option that we had the most info on.

I have stated several criteria that can be used to start a choice based task (Detour, Roadblock) one being making the choice (which side or which racer), do getting to the areas where you would don protective or costume gear.

On the leg in season 17, noses (which were needed for both task) where put on both, after some teams choose (like Jill & Thomas) which task they were doing and while some teams were deciding which tasks today (like Gary & Mallory).  I have also used when teams enter the specific arenas for their tasks.  On none of those three criteria's were enough information given to answer the specific question of which team was last to start (and in fact the criteria would give you different answers for each).  Thats why I went with awarded free points for everyone.

Now I did make an error on this part as for some reason I thought they got their fruit inside the hall, they don't they had multiple tables out of the hall that they could get fruit from.  Of which we see Kisha (then hear Mallory saying thinks), but see Zev get one next, and then see Mallory with her's.  We see no other fruit grabbing (though we see Flight Time, Luke, and Kent about to get fruit).  I had used them entering with their fruit (which enough data points are there to score).  But with just those three It's is possible for either Ron & Christina or Jet & Cord to have gained the most positions.

I really, don't like given more free points (especially on a question I got right, damn it).  But someone getting a nagging point over this one.

And it's G-Man who first points out that the start of the Roadblock is the fruit grabbing.  So the bonus goes to him.

NOTE:  I still have yet to see the clips that CBS released early that viewers in the US could watch.  So several questions that have been scored are going to be changed to free points for everyone, so keep that in mind.

NOTE:  As you might have noticed I didn't post the Overall leader board points for week 5.

Well I just happen to notice (well I should since I did it on purpose) this minor scoring error.

17. 5 FREE POINTS - We get Fake Eat, Sleep, Mingle (not a Pit Stop) footage of the teams playing Basketball, it's..?
5 points - 19 people answered this question - ABOUT GOD DAMNED TIME
-50 points - 2 people answered this question - A Waste of time away from the RACE!
5 points - 3 people answered this question - Neither here or there
5 points - 4 people answered this question - Can't judge the footage hasn't aired yet

I already warned Zvarri that I was messing with their score to harass that damn Joab.  But the little ****  (Joab just to clarify) didn't even notice.   (:;)

Oh, and I can't believe the game wouldn't let me make it -1,000,000 because I did try.

The score is now reset to its correct totals and tomorrow I will release an accurate score for week 5 and the overall up through week 5.

Thank you Zvarri for not cyber killing me. :waves:

No wonder i had the third least points! I didn't think too much into it as i thought i just plainly SUCK that leg.

And i also didn't want to give you any trouble with changing the scores as i trusted you to be correct in your scoring of points. As a host, i know how sucky it is to do the scoring all over again for the game.

9. 5 Points - Do we have an "Active Route Marker" as the next clue after leaving the Roadblock?
Yes, Drinking the tea still in "beloved" China.  I beat the tourism bureau just loved all the racer comments tonight.

The correct answer here is actually no, because the question asks- Do we have an "Active Route Marker" as the next clue after leaving the Roadblock.

The only thing teams did to get their next clue after the Roadblock was find the right place, ergo, not an active route marker.

Clutch is correct that's one point!
 :lol3:

Sorry stupid auto correct.  It is of course Coutzy!

Use the point is only for Clutch who never registered for the game, thus I don't have to award not just one point, but now 2........
