Asks, "To qualify the equalization point, consider this scenario:

Jet & Cord take flight A, that arrives at 1:30 PM, and Carol and Brandy take flight B that arrives at 2:30 PM.

Is this considered an equalization?"

Well it depends.

I have clarified the question, by adding the word all.

5 Points - Are all teams equalized at any point during this leg (meaning all caught up without forward motion, even if they depart at different times later)?

For the above example to be considered (for this) an equalization then not only would all teams need one of two things.

1.  All teams would need to be at the same airport before any of the flights left. 

That would count.

2.  Teams take different flights somewhere (got to the airport at different times) but for some reason were stuck at the destination city without being able to leave (thus no forward progress).

Here are some more general reasons.

Teams waiting for one form of transport (say plane, bus, ferry).

Teams stopped mid race for something like transport (that all teams take) or for an hours of operation.

While all teams get lost in this leg, no team actually says they are "lost" while driving.  In fact Jordan hoping about others is the only time I hear the word Lost.

They did lose thier postion though. They came in 3rd this week and not 2nd. When they stoped to tape up thier car it cost them a couple of minutes. Otherwise, I think they would have beaten Carol and Brandy to the Pit Stop.

I interpreted this to mean what position were they in just before the accident and did that cost them any places?? Will need to rewatch before I can answer that....

Correct their is no evidence that a team passed them when they were fixing the car, but when they drove to the wrong city.

Either I blinked or my tape jumped a place or two but tell me what team received a penalty? Or what team is not allowed to check in at the Pit Stop when they first arrived?  And if a team received a penalty (which I must have missed) what did they receive the penalty for?  I do not recall any team being penalized or not allowed to check in when they arrived.

And just how are Jordan and Jeff being idiots?  For them they seem to be acting perfectly normal before we see the first team reach the roadblock.  Who is to make judgments such as this on what is normal and what is being an idiot?

But that doesn't mean they "weren't allowed" to check in...THEY realized their mistake...it wasn't Phil refusing to check them in, he was just agreeing that yeah, they needed to go finish the task. TV drama. But again, I haven't rewatched yet, on my list for today, but I remember on first watching looking at that.

Also need to relook at where Steve and Allie were when they had the accident...weren't they on the way into the RB? Gosh...I really need to rewatch

They never actually reached the mat (although Phil told them to come on down) since they themselves said that they had not found the detour clue.  They had to go back and complete the task before being allowed to check in.  This is not a penalty.  They realized that they had not finished the detour and so went back to do it and that they were in the wrong place (they thought they were following another team to the detour location)

Phil nor anyone else did not "allow" Brent and Caite to check in when they foolishly followed the other team to the pit stop.  But they turned around of their own accord when they realized they were at the pit stop and not at the detour.  So nobody said they could not check in nor where they penalized for being in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

The only time we see Jeff and Jordan before Dan and Jordan reach the Roadblock is when they leave the French pit stop in a normal manner and then in the car driving to Reims in a normal manner.  They're not being idiots in my mind.  Now the question has a cavaet"OK do we hear them talk?) Yes we hear them talk and Jordan demonstrates again her lack of knowledge confusing Joan of Arc with Noah and his arc.  But is this being an idiot? Or just the usual dumb blonde syndrome?  I think the correct answer to this question is that the Roadblock is shown first.

I agree with Coutzy. I re-watched the part and they did step on the mat, they probably saw Carol and Brandy's detour clue and realized that they didn't have one and then went back without being told to do so. I personally believe that it shouldn't be counted as a penalty or not allowed to check in because they went through the own accord and told by someone else.

Ask yourself this question, "Were Brent and Caite allowed to check in when they first arrived at the pitstop?"  The answer is obviously, "No."  Therefore they were "not allowed to check in at the Pit Stop when they first arrive(d)" which is how the game question was stated.

PS - The game question said, "get a penalty" or "not allowed to check in," so there doesn't need to be any question about a penalty.

I re-watched the part and they did step on the mat, they probably saw Carol and Brandy's detour clue and realized that they didn't have one and then went back without being told to do so. I personally believe that it shouldn't be counted as a penalty or not allowed to check in because they went through the own accord and told by someone else.

If you look carefully (and I have rerun that scene several times frame by frame) Brent and Caite never actually stepped on the mat after Phil told them to come on down (he said nothing about getting on the mat with Brandy and Carol) When Brent turns to leave after realizing that they did not have a Detour clue (Brandy, by the way, does not have a detour clue in her hand, she has the route info clue (blue) telling them to drive to the pit stop)_and as the camera pulls back you can see that his foot is on the grass above the mat.  After Phil tells them to come on down, nothing more is said by anyone except Brent who says they do not have the Detour clue so must go back, which the do on their own and wall back up the hill.

So there is no penalty given.  And nothing is said or done related to not ALLOWING Brent and Caite to check in at the pit stop.

So the correct answer to this question, in my opinion, is a resounding NO.

Now I think we have whipped this poor dog of a question to death, and we should leave it in the hands of the capable MSwood to make the final call
