2009 Oscar Nominations

--- Quote ---The Oscar telecast was different tonight. I kind of liked how they presented the acting categories by having five former winners come on stage and each one gets to highlight one nominee's performance rather than showing a clip from the film. That was interesting.

It was really interesting!!
And congrats to Slumdog Millionaire for SWEEEEEPING the Oscars! :jumpy:

My big problem was Hugh Jackman. I thought he was horrible. His song & dance number went on for ages. And the Oscars can cut out a few features. Tonight's show ran 26 minutes long, while not as bad as past years, cutting out songs and tributes would be better if the producers want to end on time.
Will, I remember that show that ran an hour and a half long. They ran a tribute to all living Oscar award winners and it took so long. And the show was already a half hour late! Because of that tribute and other dog and pony demonstrations, people complained.
I'm very down on the Oscars to begin with, but they really should make an effort to end the show on time. Even if it means cutting numbers, do it.

My problem with Oscars is i don't see the big deal with Slumdog Millionaire. You know the whole show gets boring.. after like they got their 5th award? Audience like us will be.. ohhh they win again.
I really think they should honour every film, and not just award EVERY single award to the same film. I seriously think it's unfair to give the award to just one film alone, let alone 8 awards. Five is okay.. but 8?? :res:

The academy feels it was deserved. I really liked the movie and thought Best Picture and Best Directing were deserved. I'll also go with Best Adapted Screenplay as well. The other awards it received, I could care less about.

Remember five years ago The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King swept the awards, winning every single one they were nominated at, was it ten or eleven Oscars? That show was boring since we knew who would win in every category, it was so predictable.
