I'll agree with that, Will. Lord of the Rings was awarded for not only making a lot of money, but also for saving a sluggish movie industry at the time.

I looked it up and LOTR won 11 oscars that night and that was the same year Sean Penn won his first oscar for Mystic River.

I didn't know The Departed won Best Picture.. it was orginally from a chinese movie from Hong Kong and received good responses. But over here, those who've watched the chinese version thought the american version was bull..
