Mark Ballas Blogs:

Keeping you updated........

So its been a hectic couple of weeks, action packed and fun, but definitely hectic.
I have to say i am extremely proud of Shawns progress so far, and i really hope all of you have been enjoying our performances so far, i am really excited for the V Waltz next week.
The Ballas Hough Band shows have been getting better and better every week, and our live show is really developing and i couldnt be more excited, I am hoping that those of you who haven't been over to the grove shows yet can come and catch one very soon, we are going to be there every Tuesday at 8pm, on the Lawn at the grove till the end of the season, and we are gonna make the show different every week, different songs, special guests its going to be a blast.
Julianne Hough played with us a week ago and her and Derek did a duet which was really cool to play, and then she sang on our Song (Do you love me) which was fun,
This week, we had the lovely Joanna Pacitti sing a new song that she wrote called (Storm before the calm) and it was amazing to have her on stage with us her vocals were amazing and it was awesome to have Joanna sing on our song (Fall) which she co-wrote with us..........
I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have been supporting Shawn and I and of-course Ballas Hough Band, and i hope all of you who went out and picked up the record are loving it, and if you havent heard it yet grab a copy and let us know what you think.....
Well just wanted to keep you all updated, and i hope to see you at the grove.

‘I like everything about the Pasodoble’

I feel like Chelsie and I are in better shape on this dance than any of other dances, simply for the fact that Chelsie is done with the choreography and we already have it set. We have the routine down and now it's just a matter of learning all the technique.

Most of the time we set the choreography and then we tweak it and then we change it some more. We've had weeks where we didn't even have the choreography completely done on Friday. Today's only Wednesday and we pretty much already have it set in stone.

I think Chelsie really likes the choreography and we were able to go through it enough today that I pretty much know the steps. Now it's about figuring out the count and the timing and the technique, but I feel like we're ahead of where we've been in past weeks.

I'm new to all of this and she's new to the show, but I think she's buckled down and figured out ways we can start to get ahead of the game. And it feels like we are.

Now that gives us Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to work on all the technique because there's a lot of it involved with this dance and some of the timing and counts are a little tricky for me.

But I like everything about the Pasodoble.

I like how it's very masculine. I'll be honest, I don't know if this is the right description, but it's very dramatic in a real bullfighter way.

We didn't get the song we wanted, but the song we got was "Barracuda" by Heart. They gave us some options and out of those Chelsie liked this one the best.

She likes the count that goes with this song and there are no gimmicks with this routine. Our dance routine is a traditional Pasodoble. Hopefully the judges will like it because of that and because of the way that it is I think the audience will like it too--if I can do it right.

So don't get me wrong, yes, I am feeling really good about the dance and I was getting the steps, but then when you put in all the technique and it gets really hard and the ball starts rolling downhill on you really fast.

That's when you start to get stiff and mechanical.

Chelsie has a good feel for me now and she knows what makes me better as well as what makes me worse. She also has a feel for what it takes to make a dancer out of me--we have four days, not a lifetime.

It's like it would be with anything. If you have four days to get someone to do this one thing decent you're probably going to teach them differently than if they were trying to make a career out of it and that's strictly because of time restraints.

I think we're a good team and we're getting a feel for working with one another.

In the past every single thing we did she had to teach me how to do it.

For instance, if said that we were going to do pivots then she would have to explain what pivots are and how you do them. Then we'd have to practice pivots over and over.

Now we're getting to the point that there are still new things I have to learn each week, but we might come to a point in the routine where she wants me to do a pivot. Well, we've already done pivots in the foxtrot and the quickstep so that's something we've already spent a lot of time learning.

So when she wants to put in something I've already learned that's when you can really start to see that we're getting better at a faster pace.

We still have a lot of work ahead of us between now and Monday, but I just feel like we're ahead of the game.

Woz Blogs:

This morning, very early, I met a limo that took me to the DWTS stage for a satellite feed to Good Morning America. I don't remember specifics of that interview, with myself and with Holly, but they did include the greatly funny Jimmy Kimmel piece. Then it was back to my apartment where I rushed to clear as much internet stuff as I could.

I actually managed to sleep maybe 2 hours before meeting another limo that took me to LAX for a flight to NYC to appear on Regis and Kelly tomorrow morning (Thursday). Karina and Dmitry and Holly were also on this fight, and Holly's manager and my friends Joe and Zach.

It's 1 AM here now and I have to catch a morning limo, so I'm going to hold off on doing a full post of my DWTS thoughts. Thank you all for your patience.

I do plan to stay in NYC a couple of extra days and return to L.A. on Sunday to catch the DWTS show on Monday and Tuesday. I may drive home Wednesday for the first time in quite a while, so that's a big deal.

I am very bogged down due to a total lack of time right now.

best,

Woz

An interesting article more on Shawn:

Johnson's Stalker Had Been Stopped by Ala. Police

Five days before Robert O'Ryan was arrested for allegedly stalking Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson, a Loxley, Alabama police officer quizzed the 34-year-old during a traffic stop on Interstate 10. A police car dash cam recorded the conversation between O'Ryan and the officer.

O'Ryan was en route from his home in Florida to meet Johnson in California. The unkempt man told the officer he was meeting a friend. "Who is she," asked the officer. "Shawn Johnson," O'Ryan stuttered. "She's an Olympic gymnast. She's on TV now."

O'Ryan confessed, "I'm meeting her there. I've been communicating with her." He also told the policeman, "I'm going to try to get her to marry me."

During the 29-minute stop, the alleged stalker mentioned Johnson at least three times, and when asked if he'd ever spoken to the "Dancing with the Stars" contestant, O'Ryan said only in his dreams. O'Ryan admitted, "My intuition tells me that we're going to have a beautiful relationship together."

According to WKRG in Alabama, O'Ryan received two traffic tickets; one for driving without insurance and another expired plates.

Last Thursday, O'Ryan was charged with one felony count of stalking and two misdemeanor counts of carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle. He faces up to four years in prison.

More on Shawn: A video of the police traffic stop is below

Celebrity Stalker On Loxley Dash Cam

Loxley, Alabama may be a small town, but it sees more than its fair share of characters traveling Interstate 10.

"You'd be surprised at how many guys they encounter that are just crazy," said Loxely Police Chief Chip Cason.

It's no surprise then, that a police officer making an early morning traffic stop didn't think much of a guy claiming to be driving 2,400 miles to marry an Olympic gymnast.

In the dash cam video that recorded the stop, the officer asked 34-year-old Robert O'Ryan where he was headed.

"California," replied O'Ryan who went on to say he was meeting a friend. "Who is she," asked the officer. "Shawn Johnson," mumbled O'Ryan. "She's an Olympic gymnast. She's on TV now."

During the 29 minute stop, O'Ryan talked about Johnson at least three times, and when asked if he'd ever spoken to the gymnast and Dancing With The Stars contestant personally, he said only in his dreams.

"Today with Internet dating it's not uncommon to encounter people traveling miles across states to go meet people that they've met on the Internet for the first time," said Cason, who says the officer didn't even know who Johnson was when he gave O'Ryan two traffic tickets: one for having no insurance and the other for an expired license plate.

Cason insists there was no way for the officer to know the man standing in front of him would be arrested five days later with a pair of loaded guns, duct tape and love letters to his idol.

O'Ryan faces a felony stalking charge after he was spotted trying to sneak in to the CBS Studios during a Dancing With The Stars Rehearsal.

Kim Kardashian: I "Had to Grab" Lil' Kim's Booty at DWTS

Kim Kardashian couldn't keep her hands off another famous behind at Tuesday's Dancing With the Stars: Lil' Kim's!

"Lil' Kim was mesmerizing to watch, and after the show I had to grab her booty!" the reality star, 28, blogged after meeting the rapper backstage after the show.

"She is so curvy," added Kardashian, who was the second contestant voted off during season 7.

"Melissa and Tony were so beautiful together but so much fun to watch...and Cheryl and Gilles -- I really couldn't tell the difference between who was the professional. They are so hot together!" Kardashian went on.

"I absolutely love Holly," she continued. "It was sad to see Woz and Holly go last night but that's the rules of the show and now it's being elevated to the next level."

"I am so glad I had the chance to catch up with my friends!" she added. "Ahhh, I miss dancing!"

Kardashian also posted another little surprise online: a brand new flower tattoo on her left arm under the title "I can't believe I got inked!"

Neither could her fans; she later admitted it was an April Fool's Joke.

From Lacey's site:

Update on week 4 and cool news for next weeks result show!!!

Hi guys!

THANKS to everyone who voted for Lacey & Steve-O this week! Your support has truly been amazing! With there being a double elimination last night I knew it would be close-but not that close! I truly did not expect them to be in the bottom three. I have to admit I almost had a heart attack when that happened! I spent the entire show feeling like I was going to jump out of my skin-I can’t even imagine how Lacey & Steve-O were feeling!

When Samantha was talking to Lacey & Steve-O about being in the bottom three last night I have to say I was extremely proud of what Steve-O said! It took a lot of courage for him to tell people that he’s not used to dealing with stressful situations sober. Believe me, there’s already a tremendous amount of stress and pressure when trying to learn a new dance each week let alone being injured on top of that! The fact the he has not used is FANTASTIC!!! Steve-O has not given up on himself and neither should we!

Let’s not forget about Lacey-she’s been doing such an awesome job these past few weeks with Steve-O. She’s choreographed some absolutely amazing routines and has also designed most of her costumes. Lacey has looked stunning each week! There’s not much she can’t do that’s for sure! Lacey is such a talented young lady. Believe me, she’s not one to brag about herself so I’ll do that for her!

We do have a great chance to see Lacey dance in this year's Design a Dance! I hope everyone has been casting their votes!!! Click on the link below to be connected directly to the site where you can also VOTE-VOTE-VOTE!!!!

So far the fans have selected the Quickstep as the dance. The song will be "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" by Ross Mitchell. This week we can now choose the dancers we want,  and of course we want Lacey!!! You can choose any of the male pro's but I'm voting for Mark since he and Lacey are fantastic together!!!

Now, I have some good really good news and of course some bad news….

Let’s get the bad news out of the way… Unfortunately there’s not much support coming from the judges again this year for Lacey so this is where you guys come in. The competition is going to get tougher each week and Lacey & Steve-O are really going to need our support more than ever. There’s no way to know how Holly & The Woz’s votes are going to be split up. I’m asking that everyone please vote as much you can this Monday night! I’d also like to ask that you get your friends to do the same. My friends and I will be sending out reminders again on myspace, facebook, bebo, twitter and the message boards. The more people we can get to vote for Lacey & Steve-O the better!

Now for the really good news!!! Benji Schwimmer and Torri Smith will be dancing a West Coast Swing routine on next Tuesday nights result show!!!! I’m super excited to see him dance again-it’s been waaaay too long! As we all know, Benji is absolutely amazing and I’m sure the routine will bring the house down! Be sure to pass the word so no one will miss this terrific routine! Let’s hope the ballroom’s ready for this-I know I am!!!

In closing please remember to VOTE-VOTE-VOTE like crazy on Monday (April 6th) for Lacey & Steve-O and then tune in on Tuesday (April 7th) to watch Benji and Torri tear the roof off the ballroom-it may never be the same….

‘Dancing’s’ Gilles defends Cheryl Burke’s figure

Tango titan Gilles Marini gives his “Dancing With the Stars” pro partner, Cheryl Burke, a perfect score when it comes to curves. It seems the show’s star takes exception with all the body-bashing Burke has endured.

“If women look like her, that would be the perfect world,” the smooth talker told E! News. “She doesn't need to change anything. Who likes stick-skinny girls? Where's the flavor? Whoever likes those stick-skinny girls never had sex before in their life.”

Marini’s not the first celebrity hoofer to defend Burke’s fuller figure (though he may be the first to lose the “stick-skinny girl” vote along the way). When naysayers nitpicked the two-time champ last season, her then-partner, retired Olympic sprinter Maurice Green, stood by his ballroom buddy.

“My family, my boys, everybody was calling her and telling her she looked great and don’t be worrying about that stuff,” Greene said at the time. “I think she looks great and you know what? As long as she feels good, that’s the only thing that matters really.”

An interesting article:

Shawn Johnson Talks Focusing On ‘Dancing’ Following Alleged Stalker Incident

“Dancing With the Stars” standout Shawn Johnson has kept silent on the disturbing news that a man was arrested for allegedly stalking her, but now she is talking for the first time about it with Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos.

“How do you keep all the outside stuff that goes on away and focus?” Maria asked the 17-year-old Olympic champ.

“I have no idea,” Shawn told Maria. “I think it just kind of comes with the sport. With gymnastics, if your mind wanders, you can get hurt or not do your best and stuff, so you learn it over time.

“It’s hard not to take the outside stuff and have it affect you during practice,” Shawn continued. “Of course there’s been a lot going on that you try not to think about — negative, negative things really get to me, ‘cause I’m always the one that’s like, ‘The glass is half full.’ I try to find the positive in everything, so if anybody is negative or down or upset and stuff, it really kind of affects me, but I try to fix it and get back to work.”

It’s an impressive attitude coming from the young star, who has somehow been able to put last week’s frightening incident behind her.

“You’re OK right now?” Maria asked.

“Yeah, very good,” Shawn said.

“You’re handling everything well?” Maria continued.

“Trying to, yes,” Shawn replied.

Putting her troubles to the back of her mind has helped Shawn remain a frontrunner for the “Dancing” mirrorball trophy. And through it all, Shawn’s parents have been her No. 1 supporters — they’re there every night in the ballroom.

Mom Teri even joined in the interview.

“Are you having fun watching her?” Maria asked.

“I’m loving it,” Teri said. “To this day, I cannot dance in public. I’m so afraid of people watching me, so I love this for her because I don’t want her to be an adult with inhibitions that are awful.”

Ty Murray Blogs:

‘You just have to grind through it’

We left the apartment and put in a long day. By now you've probably seen some of the pre-packaged segments they film with all the different celebrities that don't have anything to do being in the practice studio.

Well, because Chelsie and I are doing the Pasodobles we went and got around some bulls. I guess, we'll have to wait and see how that works out with the show.

We did that until about noon, grabbed a quick lunch and then went straight to the studio. We probably got in about six or seven hours of practice and, like I know by now, it always takes a big step backward when you start going through the technique.

It's so funny when you watch somebody that can do this kind of dance. It looks simple, it looks effortless, it looks easy and it looks like all you have to do is look tough and strong, but there's a heck of a lot more to it than that.

A lot of it is really unnatural.

But it's just how the process goes. The second day is always a long, frustrating day with a lot of sweat and work, but you just have to grind through it. It does get better, but it's hard to tell when you're the one in the studio grinding it out for seven hours.

The progress is so slow that you don't feel it getting any better. It just comes a little bit at a time, but I think we're in pretty good shape. We still have three full days ahead of us.

This song has what they call dynamics, which means you'll hear it speed up and slow down and then almost stop. The pace of it changes a lot and, for me, that takes a little bit of getting used to. There's still a count and it doesn't change like the music--it stays the same.

Chelsie has taught me that the dynamics of the song is what makes the routine more interesting to watch.

We busted our butt and I'm sure that with a good night's sleep that it will be better tomorrow. It usually turns out where you see the big leap of improvement the next day. For whatever reason, it always seems like it takes a night for it all to sink in.

DWTS - week 4 “lindy hop”

Hey everyone ~ Well another week under my belt. What can i say, except i survived. Survived all of the media, survived all of the crazy stuff going on and survived the elimination round. All i can say is thank you thank you thank you for all of the votes and support. my next dance is the Vienese Waltz, Mark explained that it’s like the Waltz except faster. i’m learning it right now and having lots of fun with it. Mark and i have had the giggles alot here lately, maybe it’s just relief that things are kind of back to normal. It seems like i get the giggles alot when i’m learning new dances, he call it the “Iowa giggles”. I’m so lucky to have Mark for a partner, he lets me just be me. i’m going to the Hannah Montana premiere tonight, very excited about that. I just found out that i will be having some really cool guests at my next DWTS show, the entire cast of “Secret Life of the American Teenager”. I can’t wait to see them, I haven’t seen any of them since i was on the show. I’m sooo happy that they even want to come and watch me. Sorry, but i have to go for now. Will try to keep you all up to date when i can. Please vote. Love you guys. Peace SJ

DWTS' Gilles Marini on Steve-O: "We Have a Bromance"

Move over, Matthew and Lance.

Dancing With the Stars frontrunner Gilles Marini and Steve-O are the latest males to bond.

"We have a bromance," Marini said on Friday's The Bonnie Hunt Show. "I believe that Steve-O has an amazing story to tell. It's very inspiring for all those kids out there who are having trouble with drug additions. He made it happen. He's a year sober, and he's doing a fantastic show and a fantastic job turning it around.”

They two are inseparable on the set, said Marini's partner Cheryl Burke.

"Steve-O actually came up to me and said, 'Too bad Gilles is married,'" she tod Hunt. "I've got a big crush on him after seeing him perform [the tango].'"

Ty Murray Blogs:

‘Tomorrow it ought to start rolling along’

When we got to practice today "Entertainment Tonight" was there and they had Jewel interview Chelsie and I, but I'm not sure when the segment will air. They also filmed a little bit of our practice and as soon as they left we got down to business.

We would run the routine a couple times with the music and then pick things out to work on.

The dynamics of this dance – it speeds up and slows down – is a little trickier to get a hold on. Professional dancers are able to count the music the whole way through very easily – like its second nature to them – and it feels impossible to me, especially because I'm trying to think about so many things.

This week's song is on an eight count, but in a few parts it's on a nine count. It just gets really confusing. I've talked with some of the other celebrities and I've asked them, "Are you getting this counting thing?" And every one of them said, "No."

For the professionals, it's like breathing.

You can identify any point of the dance and Chelsie knows exactly what the number is. She'll know, well, "that's three" or "that's three and four" or "that's eight and one." For me, "That's really tough."

I try to find key parts of the song – the stroke of a guitar or the hit of a drum or a certain word in the song – and that kind of gives me a landmark of where I'm at or where I need to be.

Tomorrow it ought to start rolling along. We'll start running the whole routine through with the music.

Again, like I've said since the beginning, it gets pretty tricky when you start doing that because the music doesn't wait on you for even a split second. You don't have time to think about anything. You have to just go. You can't be behind and you can't be ahead--you have to be right where the beat of the music is.

I do feel like we gained some ground on it today. Yesterday was one of those stone starts rolling back down the hill type of days, but today we started making some progress in getting it pushed back up the hill.

I really feel like Chelsie did a great job with the choreography so if I can do it the way I'm supposed to I think the judges are really going to like it. That's the part that is a heck of a lot easier said than done, but, I bet, by the end of tomorrow we'll start to have a lot better grasp on it.

'Mommies' Say: Vote for Gilles Marini on 'Dancing with the Stars'

As the competition heats up on "DWTS," ET joins red-hot competitor Gilles Marini along with Jen and Barb of the Web site Mom Life -- two ladies who are urging fellow mothers everywhere to vote for Gilles on the show!

"He's a family guy and he's a dad," Barb says of Gilles, while Jen adds, "And he's a really, really good dancer."

"Oh wow, a lot of compliments in, like, ten seconds. I'm going to faint," Gilles jokes.

Tune into "Dancing with the Stars" Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC, and click here to check out the mommies' Web site, Mom Life

Lacey Blogs:

Hey Guys!

Hey Everyone!
Finally, another blog from me! Sorry for not having time in the past weeks for blogging here. I've been busy as you probably already knew with practicing and all that good stuff.

Anyway, down to the serious stuff. Last week being in the bottom 3 was absolutely scary. I thought for sure that Steve-O and I were toast LOL! However, you awesome fans saved us, and we are so happy! Thank you guys for being there and voting for us. It means a lot. So now were back this week, and we are going to try to bring it! I really hope that we pull it off and are not in the bottom 2 this week. It's scary being in that position! It's also soo sad to see Holly and Steve go, they were both entertaining and yeah, it does really suck for anyone that goes home, we all become one big family.

Next thing. Coming up sometime in the near future hopefully, LOL, I would like to do something like a questions blog or something like that. Just for fun, I would love to answer all your guys' questions so let me know what you think about that in the comments section of this blog.

Well, I think that's everything for right now. Please leave comments here and don't forget to watch Dancing With The Stars and DON'T FORGET TO VOTE! Thanks you guys so much for voting and for letting me blog here LOL!

Big Love
<3 Lacey
