The Australian Government is organizing a 'mercy flight' for the Australian's stranded in Thailand.

I pray to The Great Phil In The Sky that my informant can get on this flight and come home with the pictures, safe and sound.

Alright guys, I'm out of Thailand! *phew* Thanks for everyone's concern!

Called up the Sheraton in Guilin, and they've been nice enough to tell us that production started arriving in dribs and drabs on the 10th, and they all left on the 20th. Remembering Salvador's whiteboard, that means teams would most likely have taken flights out on the 20th as well. How does that fit in?

Also called up the Sheraton and Meridien in Shanghai, but they have no record of WRP Group. Any other ideas we could try, or should we rule Shanghai out?

And on Shanghai, you read what was posted at that forum and really Shanghai could have been a bunch of backpackers running thru the subway or even TARI for all we know so .... just a rumor maybe?

However, in a city with hundreds of major hotels, knowing that two did not have Amazing Race contestants for the requisite date range is not remotely enough to rule Shanghai out.

Nov. 18 leg 10 fly from ? to Guilin
Nov. 20 leg 11 Guilin to Beijing flight choices

That appears to be a perfect fit with your data on Nov. 20 checkout from Guilin Sheraton.

Not sure if anyone found this blog entry before me - but here it is. Its hard to figure out exactly which date and I haven't been able to contact this blogger. Looks like some TAR filming was spotted in Tokyo or Singapore around November 10.

There are limits, imposed by low temperatures in early November in most areas of Switzerland, on what outdoor activities would have been appropriate for AR14, episode 2 Nov. 2 and the start of episode 3 Nov. 3. With the special equipment and clothing required for cold-weather sports I don't believe they would have done much of that. It was too late in the year for most warm-weather sports.

Would anyone here have any information as to whether or not TAR14 was filmed in HD? It's probably a long shot, given that HD equipment is probably too difficult to handle while running after teams and such...but a man can hope, right?

Seycheller, we would love to believe you. However, you need to provide concrete evidence, preferrably photos but we will settle for eyewitness reports if photos were not taken, including dates of any AR14 visit to the Seychelles. Since Madagascar and Mauritius have been Amazing Race sites, there is no reason the Seychelles could not be. I'm from Missouri. Show me.

You should know that the race according to reports was heading for Russia from Romania. Also, there may be only one leg between Russia and Phuket. To go from anywhere in Russia to Seychelles to get to Phuket is not exactly probable. The other possibility is going from Phuket to Guilin. Taking a huge detour via the Seychelles is so unlikely it is not worth talking about. However, I hope you have the answers for us.

I think they decided against HD because they didn't need it. People love the show the way it is and filming it in HD isn't going to attract any more viewers.

I read that somewhere, but I can't remember where.

Oh, sorry guys. I only suggested that because I had heard that they were scouting it as a possible race location in the past. Figured that it might be plausible here since it works with the "heading East with two legs to fill in thing", not to mention that it is a beautiful country this time of year.

Seycheller. I hope you get your wish in a 2009 Amazing Race even if you don't here. What is new is puddin's reminder of rumors that AR14 was headed to Russia from Romania. Those are a least a little credible and if true Seychelles will not be visited in AR14.
