I chose 17.  It had my favorite team win, and that team became my favorite winners!

5 & 7 are also among my top 3 or 4, as is 14 (with Tammy & Victor).  I chose 17 because I had rooted for Nat & Kat since they were all-female and Kat was an Asian American (I have a soft spot for Asian Americans) -- and they won!

Every season was at least good
1: Had Nancy and Emily but after they got eliminated, didn't really care
2: Have yet to finish it to make a judgement
3: Same
4: Same
5: Season 5 was probably my favorite since it was the first I watched on TV. Season 5 is probably my favorite
6: Eh...it had a funny cast but otherwise, I didn't LOVE it
7: Romber, Uchenna/Joyce, Meredith/Gretchen... if it wasn't for those 3, I'd have stopped watching the season.
8: Can't really compare since it was family. I didn't hate it honestly...it was just different was all.
9: Hippies and Nerds...nuff said
10: Kentucky FTW
11: Great besides the winners
12: Got boring after a bit.. though I lurved Kynt and Vyxsin
13: I was on team Nick/Starr and Toni/Dallas kty.
14: Bleh...Margie and Luke were great!
15: Lost most of my interest in the season after Zev/Justin's elimination
16: *Vomits* thanks Cowboys for being the only reason I still watched this trainwreck
17: Nat & Kat and Brook & Claire and Gary & Mallory made this season.
Overall: My top 3 seasons are 5, 13, and 17
TAR25- Shelley/Nici, Amy/Maya, Kym/Alli, Keith/Whitney
Survivor SJDS: Natalie, Jeremy, Baylor

WOW!

I can't believe that Season 17 will take the lead in the polls since it was updated last time around.

Nice one for Season 17.   :hearts:

wow! I just finished season 5. It was amazing. The beginning was so boring, but the end so the best out of any season that I have watched. I have only watched 5, 10-17 so here is what I think of each season

5: Favorite season. I really liked Colin and Christie. They should have won. The final three was pretty much set after the first 4 episodes. The ending was upsetting because Colin and Christie had a clear advantage if they were on the same flight as everyone. They still were only like 5 minutes behind at the end. Chip and Kim ran a good race though.

10: It was average. I liked James and Tyler, but their only competition was Dustin and Kandice and Rob and Kim. This season was one of the least competitive because the Cho's, Kentucky and Alabama didn't know how to play the game.

11: I really liked Dustin and Kandice. On Season 10, I didn't like them but didn't mind them. On this season, I was rooting for them. I thought that they deserved to win. Eric and Danielle didn't even run a good race. They didn't deserve to win I still have no clue how Charla and Mirna got to the finale. It was not a strong all star season with the exception of Rob and Amber, Uchenna and Joyce and Dustin and Kandice.

12: This was one of the more boring seasons. I rooted for Kynt and Vyxsin and Nate and Jen, but I didn't enjoy the teams on this season that much. The team that won was boring. Ron and Christina's problems were boring also. It was probably the weakest final three that I can remember.

13: I like season 13. I really rooted for Star and Nick and Toni and Dallas. Andrew and Dan got a bad edit. I didn't think that they ran that bad of a race. Ken and Tina were respectable. Overall, it was a good season.

14: This was probably my second favorite season. This was the original season that I started watching. I eventually went back and watched some other seasons. Margie and Luke were my favorite team. I was rooting for them pretty hard. I hated Kisha and Jen. They are b******. Tammy and Victor were not bad. They were not the strongest team to win, but not the weakest. I thought Margie and Luke had won, until Luke messed up on the last task.

15: This season was slightly below average. My favorite team was the Globetrotters. I thought that the cast on this season was very weak. Sam and Dan, Meghan and Cheyne, and FT and BE were the only teams that were competitive. I hated Ericka. Her temper tantrums were unneeded and unnecessary. Overall, Meghan and Cheyne definitely were the strongest team, and deserved to win. Although, I thought FT and BE should have been in the final three in place of Brian and Ericka.

16: Jet and Cord were my favorite team by far. They were possibly the best competitors ever on the amazing race. Steve and Allie and Joe and Heidi were eliminated to early. Louie and Michael should have been in the final three in place of Brent and Caite. I hated Carol and Brandy. They didn't need to react the way they did when they were U-turned. Overall, Dan and Jordan were not the strongest team physically but really stepped up their game in the finale. They deserved the win.

17: Unlike most people, I didn't enjoy this season that much. The only two teams that I didn't like were Chad and Stephanie and Nick and Vicki. I didn't really have a favorite until the end. I wanted Brook and Claire to win, but Nat and Kat were very deserving winners.

The order of my favorite seasons are 5,14,13,11,10,16,15,17,12. Those are the only seasons that I have watched. I started season 3 and hated it, so I ruined it for myself by looking who wins. Any recommendations on what season I should watch next?

I would advise you to watch Season 2 because I think it is all-around a great season. It has a good cast, good route and unexpected surprises. You like me find season 5 to be the best so you will probably like 2 as well. Only watch 6 if you like bickering couples :)

I watched six. It was average. I will probably watch season 9 next. For some reason, I don't like to watch the earlier seasons because the rules are so different from they are now.

Even if you didn't start watching from the beginning, like some of us, I still recommend watching it in chronological order, amazing race fan.

Suffering through the bad seasons is the only way to appreciate the good seasons.

I will blame Romber for the bad casting in Season 7.

I disliked that Romber had an unfair advantage for being "celebs", but they made good TV. The thing I really hated was that their presence in that season turned more than a couple of teams into "Romber-haters". I think Susan & Patrick and Lynn & Alex could have gotten a better storyline without being obsessed with "beating Romber".

I would have loved to see Meghan & Cheyne race against Nick & Starr. I don't really like when there's an obvious alpha team. Not that I hate that kind of teams, but I'd rather have either 0 obvious alphas (like S14 and S17) or more than one alpha (like S9).
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move

Can someone give me an overview of Seasons 1,2,4,7,8 without spoiling the contestants and what happens? Just say if the tasks were good, locations, cast, drama, etc. Those are the seasons that I haven't watched.

Season one is pretty damn awesome, but it has two elements I don't like.  One you only see Phil when you are last, so there is no real drama at the Pit Stop.  Second was the large number of production errors, but I do understand that it was very much a learning experience for the production crew.

Now I didn't want Danielle cast on all stars but Eric And Danielle, well Eric, actually ran a strong race.  They had two poor legs based on their performance.  We all need to remember how you end a leg doesn't always reflect how well you raced that leg.

In season 16 for example Louie & Michael won two legs which they actually took longer then any team that wasn't eliminated to complete, they just benefitted from not getting equalized.

In All Stars that was also a factor.  With travel issues holding up some teams, and getting yielded twice.  One of those legs they would have won as they raced far faster then any of the other teams the other they would have finished second.  On the three legs impacted by traveling one they sucked at, one the did the days tasks fastest and one the did the days tasks second fastest.  On the intersection leg they deliberately, once paired with Joe and Bill, tried to be last or next to last knowing that Joe and Bill would get eliminated and it worked.

Now I can understand being upset about the casting of this team, I was.  And I can understand not liking them, as each person has different things they look for in teams the root for, but they really did a lot better then their pit stop placement shows.

Well I am with Peach......Season 1 should be next. It was such an experiment. Not only for the racers, but also for production. i just think you need to see it to understand where it started and the evolution of the Amazing Race since then. As you saidd before, the rules are different now than then. If you watch in order, you will see and understand why the rules have changed over time. You will see the abuses of some teams of the rules and know why the rules today are the way they are.

As for the seasons I like, well it's funny my favorite racers are not in my favorite seasons.

I have a hard time picking between seasons two and five.  And in both of those seasons I never really liked two many of the teams, he'll in season five I disliked a lot of the teams.

Then it would be between seasons one and three.  Season one also featured a lot if teams I really didn't care for, but race itself, locations and newness were excellent.  Season three I really started warming up to the racers, and there seemed to be a lot of internal interaction with teams.

Next would be probably season ten, seventeen and fourteen.  All three had interesting tasks, locations and enough racers and their unteractjns for me to really love.

Next would be season seven.  I hate Rob and amber, but they were entertaining, but I really felt their status gave them a significant advantage over other teams.   At least with the two teams from big brother, they aren't going to be recognized as big brother us doesn't play much overseas and also has a much, much smaller audience the survivor.

Next would be season six, which had some great legs and one of the worst designed legs, one had what three or four full points of equalization.  Yuck!  But it also had my second favorite team, of course it also had the team I hate the most.

Next would be seasons nine and four.  I really loved the course and tasks of four, but I really disliked having what six thousand all male teams.  Just as I complained about season 17 having too many female teams, even if I liked them.  Season four is the same just with men and even more of them. Yikes.   Season nine I liked it had several legs I loved but Eric and Jeremy and to a lesser degree, even though they did win, BJ and Tyler just wiped the floor with the other teams.  My favorite racers, Eric And Jeremy because they always raced.  It didn't matter if they were a day ahead they still ran from point A to point B.  I wouldn't be friends with this team, but s racers they were tops.

Next would be season fifteen, I truly disliked the two known teams, and yeah when you get recognized in public then I hate it.  And a fairly paint by numbers course.

Then we have all stars, hated how they cast, hated that alpha male teams were never considered, hated the episodes ruined by travel issues.  It's one thing when a team takes travel risks, but it's another when productions plains or poor.  Plus the course just wasn't that good.

Next would be seasons twelve, first of the shorter seasons so that already posses me off, and disliked that racers actually new each other.  Didn't something like four teams have a prior history of some sort.  Also hated it due to the u turn.  I don't carre which team wins or loses, but I hate it when production allows teams to deliberately impair another team.  Just nasty, nasty behavior and this applies as well to the yield.  I liked it when this shows was above such manufactured drama.

Then that's leaves us with seasons sixteen and thirteen.  thirteen I liked several teams, didn't care much for the course.  Just didn't care for it.  sixteen I like a few teams a lot, but I hated that so many mistakes were made, hated the behavior of a few teams, and i hated that so many teams just didn't seem to go all out.

That leaves us with the family editn, here I like almost every team.  Three of the teams i utterly loved.  But with four racers on a team it was very difficult to get a read on individuals.  Also hated, hated all the points of equalization, worse then any season.  Had a few really nice legs, and I loved the final leg, it actually had some difficult tasks to it.  But the negatives really over power the positives.

One other thing, something that really makes a difference for me as a fan.  It's a race, being able to go from point A to point B is huge.  So seasons with little self navigation are not going to be ones I like.  Seasons one through eleven feature a lot of driving.  Teams having to get themselves from point a to b, it's one of the things that has really hurt modern tar in my opinion, though thankfully the last two seasons have had some.

I like your analysis mswood. It's always good to see what different people have different perspectives with regards to different seasons.

For me, Season 7 was the worst for me to watch. With teams like Susan and Patrick, Ray and Deana, Rob and Amber, Ron and Kelly, Lynn and Alex who were all so quarrelsome, it became hard for me to watch them.. if Uchenna and Joyce didn't win.. i would have hated that season. The route was lame (route was like travelling in a circle??) and there was barely ANY asian countries (which i think all race should feature at least one Southeast Asia leg) as well as a LAME finale.. remember Little Havana?

But for me, the worst season for me would be Season 9. I hated Alpha male teams and it was hard for me to watch Eric and Jeremy. They weren't as bad as BJ and Tyler though.. these two are NOT hilarious at all and plain annoying for me. I'm SO GLAD they were not invited back for ANY of the Allstars. Had they not win, i think they would have a chance of coming back.. and i'm glad they won and stayed away from my TV screen. The teams were bad as well.. so many teams quarreling internally within themselves. It makes me think the only nice racers on that race would be Dave and Lori and Wanda and Desiree.. all who were eliminated early.

Season 16 was somewhat hard to watch as well. After Steve and Allie got eliminated. The only team i really cared for were the cowboys. But even with the cowboys, i didn't actually like them and wouldn't have cared if they won or not. The rest of the teams in the final five were just not as nice as the other seasons. You know, you can have internal rivalry within the teams and the race still interesting? TAR 16's internal rivalry was just plain pointless, stupid and childish. They should learn from TAR 5, TAR 7, TAR 8, TAR 10, TAR 11 and TAR 14. All these seasons had internal rivalry within the final few teams but it was at least interesting and not painful to watch...

I'm probably only one whose favourite season is season 6. Don't worry, I will explain. First, I think that locations in that season were perfect. They visited in 7 new countries! And in previously visited countries they visited places that weren't visited before and I think those were interesting places: Xian, Shanghai, Corsica and Berlin.

And of course the teams of that season were very interesting. Season 6 is known for it's fighting couples of Johnathan & Victoria, Adam & Rebecca and Lori & Bolo and for crazy females of Hayden and Kendra. And then there was calm and cool couple of Kris & Jon and all-female favourite Lena & Kristy. I think all these teams made the season very interesting, there was always drama and teams were far from boring. The happiness of Kris and Jon always reminded that there's also goodness in this world
And the teams didn't never fight against each other, there was only conflicts inside the teams. So the chemistry between the teams was friendly (most of the time, there were yields and Freddy's head injury).
Only thing that I don't like in that season is that it had wrong winners but you can't always get what you want :D

No  actually purely on route and tasks, season 6 is one of my favorites.   Unfortunately for me the teams were often too caustic for me to stand.
