23/11 - filming at Rottnest Island Prison (near Perth)
24/11 - arrived in Darwin, went to Skycity hotel
25/11 - went to crocodile park
28/11 - “desperate-looking” couple running around airport in Adelaide

“Take this FWIW - I was talking to someone who saw TAR being filmed in Perth, and they said they saw an old couple walking around Fremantle with a cameraman, sound guy etc. They speculate they were around 50-60yrs old. They think it was a male/female couple or possibly male/male (they aren't completely sure, as they only got a glimpse of them). They couldn't remember what clothes/colours they were wearing.”

INSIDE COVER with Melissa Kent
ROTTO, FREO IN AMAZING RACE

Our very own Rottnest and Fremantle starred in the American television series The Amazing Race yesterday with camera crews and contestants dashing around like, well, Americans on a TV show.

Whispers reached IC that some non-schoolie visitors landed on the isle early yesterday and businesses were roped in to smooth the way for the crew and competitors.

Clearly the Rottnest Island Authority was ordered not to prattle to pesky media about the exciting event and issued a "no comment" to IC - a surefire confirmation of the rumour.

The Seven Network, which screens the popular series, was left out of the loop and had no idea WA was a destination for the show, which follows teams as they chase clues in a race around the world.

Luckily for us, a team of backpack toting Americans running around, shouting at each other and being chased by cameras on a small island is a little hard to hide.

Word has it the contestants began arriving at 3am with instructions to go to the top of the main lighthouse for their next clue.

There was a flurry of activity at the bike hire shop - where employees had also been silenced - and lots of running around Rotto streets, said onlookers.

The Rottnest Tearooms were charged with feeding the hungry visitors lunch, serving up biscuits, drinks and meat and salad rolls.

"It was pretty exciting", a tearoom spy said. "One of them ran around the back and asked our head chef where Fremantle Prison was."

Being shrewd, IC figured this must be the nest destination
and called the prison for the lowdown. It too had been gagged but Monday's public notices seem to confirm the story - a small item declared the prison would be closed on Wednesday for filming.

I can confirm that AR have been sited in Perth Western Australia in November, a friend works at the airport. There were about 4 teams noticed by staff. One of those teams has been given a fine because they had concealed food on them, they were trying to take chicken sandwiches off the airoplane.
Another team ( that had no money) was reprimanded for pushing to the front of the lines in customs.

Rottnest island map
teams travel to the island by ferries

when they get there, they have to rent some bicycles at the Rottnest Bike Hire shop. It's located next to the Rottnest Hotel.

Teams have to go to the main Rottnest island lighthouse and pick up new clues.

on the way back to the ferries, they stop by the Rottnest Tearooms Bar and Cafe in Thompson Bay on Colebatch Avenue

teams have to take a ferry back to Freemantle and go to the Freemantle prison

On the drive to the airport , one team picks up a hitchhiker and takes some time to conduct international relations .
A Rivalry between two teams heats up after one duo tells the other that the next opportunity they get to use the yield against them they will.
All of the teams but one sit anxiously on their plane waiting to take off hoping that the duo straggling behind will not make it in time . Will they ?

Since the clues mention planes... The Oman tasks were done on Nov 20th. Assuming teams are flying from Muscat to Perth here is the schedule for Nov 21st. No matter which flight teams get on they all connect to the same flight in Dubai and arrive togther. I do wonder how one team could get behind the others with these late afternoon flights (unless the flight was just full). It is a long flight in which teams would arrive at 5:25 p.m. on Nov 22nd. This fits well with the Nov 23rd sightings and the fact that we see teams finding a hotel for the night in Fremantle.

Depart      Arrive          Carrier/Flight              Stop/Connex     Trip Time
8:40pm     5:25pm+1    EK 6469* / 0420         DXB 5:00 hrs.   16:45 hrs.
10:15pm   5:25pm+1    NL 0392 / EK 0420       DXB 3:35 hrs.   15:10 hrs.
11:55pm   5:25pm+1    LX 0243 / EK 0420       DXB 1:40 hrs.   13:30 hrs.
11:55pm   5:25pm+1    WY 5243* / EK 0420    DXB 1:40 hrs.   13:30 hrs.

Found a photo of the gear room for the tunnels tour (source; ignore the misspelling, it's not that ugly). The look of it suggests a mandatory safety lecture and gear-up time for racers; and the tunnels are so narrow they'll probably post a number board and make people wait their turn.

Oh Boy

Using the CBS clues and supsandlee's flight info, I propose the following.

The Frat Boys pick up a hitchhiker.  The Hippies would be more likely, but the third clue is about the Hippies, so I do not think we will have 2 Hippie clues.  My alternate is MoJo

I am not sure about the rivalry.

The third clues is about the Hippies.  Using the flight info, I propose that the Hippies miss the first flight to Dubai with the other 4 teams, but catch up on the second flight.  This would be most dramatic.

Going out on a limb here, but looks like BJ&T have finished their tasks on Rottnest Island and are running to catch the ferry back to the mainland.     ;)

Most definately Boingo  :jumpy: The mainland departure points for the ferry do not match (http://www.rottnestexpress.com.au/location.htm) so they are definately leaving the island. Good shadows too! Someone should be able to determine the time.

With the teams in a customs line, it means they are entering Australia.  For travel within Australia, they would not need to go through customs.
