“Take this FWIW - I was talking to someone who saw TAR being filmed in Perth, and they said they saw an old couple walking around Fremantle with a cameraman, sound guy etc. They speculate they were around 50-60yrs old. They think it was a male/female couple or possibly male/male (they aren't completely sure, as they only got a glimpse of them). They couldn't remember what clothes/colours they were wearing.”

INSIDE COVER with Melissa Kent
ROTTO, FREO IN AMAZING RACE
Our very own Rottnest and Fremantle starred in the American television series The Amazing Race yesterday with camera crews and contestants dashing around like, well, Americans on a TV show.
Whispers reached IC that some non-schoolie visitors landed on the isle early yesterday and businesses were roped in to smooth the way for the crew and competitors.
Clearly the Rottnest Island Authority was ordered not to prattle to pesky media about the exciting event and issued a "no comment" to IC - a surefire confirmation of the rumour.
The Seven Network, which screens the popular series, was left out of the loop and had no idea WA was a destination for the show, which follows teams as they chase clues in a race around the world.
Luckily for us, a team of backpack toting Americans running around, shouting at each other and being chased by cameras on a small island is a little hard to hide.
Word has it the contestants began arriving at 3am with instructions to go to the top of the main lighthouse for their next clue.
There was a flurry of activity at the bike hire shop - where employees had also been silenced - and lots of running around Rotto streets, said onlookers.
The Rottnest Tearooms were charged with feeding the hungry visitors lunch, serving up biscuits, drinks and meat and salad rolls.
"It was pretty exciting", a tearoom spy said. "One of them ran around the back and asked our head chef where Fremantle Prison was."
Being shrewd, IC figured this must be the nest destination
and called the prison for the lowdown. It too had been gagged but Monday's public notices seem to confirm the story - a small item declared the prison would be closed on Wednesday for filming.

I can confirm that AR have been sited in Perth Western Australia in November, a friend works at the airport. There were about 4 teams noticed by staff. One of those teams has been given a fine because they had concealed food on them, they were trying to take chicken sandwiches off the airoplane.
Another team ( that had no money) was reprimanded for pushing to the front of the lines in customs.

With the teams in a customs line, it means they are entering Australia. For travel within Australia, they would not need to go through customs.

Yea, the one day does not change things significantly. It looks like they get that 8:15 ferry. Because they are running and look like they think they have a chance.
And this could explain why the shoe salesperson did not see BJ&T.

If someone can post a Google Earth image of the city hall I may be able to set the time of the shot with Barry there.
So F&B are out of the car and now they are lost , thanks guys & gals :hearts:
Turt states that the prison is the pitstop ..don't know what he knows of if a team told him so ..maybe a virtual pitstop? TBC...

three-mile bike rideIf the spoiler is true, the only lighthouse they could be riding towards is at Wadjemup hill (http://www.lighthouse.net.au/liGhTS/WA/Rottnest Main/Rottnest Main.htm). Three miles seems a stretch, considering the caps show what looks like the inland route, but you never know.
All I know is that the Hippies and the Frats better place higher this coming week.ms wood , I cried and cried when Derek & Drew were eliminated ...I was screaming NONO and I knew exactly how Flo felt , BJT & E&J just have to be in the final 3 !
Both of these teams diserve to make the final three and I will be especially burned if Eric and Jeremy don't improve their standing.
I am still pissed about Derek and Drew.
looks like there hiding F&B from the tasks ..the pick of the week for whatever reason they do this
That's an interesting photo. Several buildings in my hometown are new (or rebuilt) but support a facade to maintain that "old town" look. Speaking of which...
The area FrankenBarry was wandering around (at night) had that look about it. A possible scenario: the route card tells them to take the ferry, but the early-morning arrival leaves the teams bunched; FrankenBarry wander the streets of Old Town looking for a place to crash for a few hours before the first ferry and instead wind up in the company of gay male escorts.

I've been looking for the exact beach the teams are snorkeling at. It's really hard to tell from pics. There are a couple of beaches that they could run to from the lighthouse like The Basin and Longreach but I don't see the lighthouse in any vid caps (could just be the camera angle though). Some things to consider:
Teams have to change so I would think the beach would be very close to restrooms (see map -- sorry so big).
I can't capture the shot but at one point when MoJo are on a bike they have water (lake water) on both sides of the road.
If they are heading to the lighthouse they are lost. If they stay on bikes the entire time on the island then they may have already picked up the clue and are heading to the snorkel beach. Regardless, I think they stay in the northeast corner of the island for all tasks.

Looking at the map again, Mary's Cove looks like a good choice but I can't find any good pics of itjust trying to help out

We have had bunching of some form in every epi
1. Of course is how they perform with complete Bunching.
2. How fast the perform (the tasks). When we have spaced bunching (like in the 4th episode we had 2 different groups bunched with a different starting time. You can still judge them by how fast they completed their events within each bunching group).
And in both regards the Frats have done consistently better then any team.
I think I will gather my info and either find a thread or start a thread about speed of the various teams at both events and overall.
I'm picking RaYolanda if its an elim , F&B still safe since we see no airplane jumping/diving this leg . E&J are athletic and should have an easy time with the scuba /detour as well as MoJo . Don't know what the other detour is but RaYolanda might opt out of the scuba /detour because we know shes a poor swimmer .
Might be the scuba/detour is the fast choice this time with some luck finding whatever it is in the water .
No matter I think the male teams pull ahead and RaYolandas story was told last week and its over for them .

Me too puddin. They got the arguing "kiss of death" edit last week and I'm worried they are doing the same this week for MoJo.
If we don't see any signs of skydiving for the following week I'm guessing the skydiving will be the FF task and F&B wins it. I've got a couple of websites for skydiving in Darwin waiting.
I think Desperado is right about Fran in the tunnel. :gj: The person is wearing a red vest and Yolanda is in yellow. It "appears" to be a woman. Of course, we all thought Tyler was a woman before the race started. Thanks supsandalee and Too funny

I think the key is to let them out or their team member in.
It reminds me of the detour in Season 7 with the Castle. One team member waited by a lock gate, teh other scaled the castle retrieved the key and then went and let the other player in or through part of the prison.
We have Joseph outside a cell waiting It doesn't look like he preforms this one (And I do believe we have footage of Monica).

Since the clues mention planes... The Oman tasks were done on Nov 20th. Assuming teams are flying from Muscat to Perth here is the schedule for Nov 21st. No matter which flight teams get on they all connect to the same flight in Dubai and arrive togther. I do wonder how one team could get behind the others with these late afternoon flights (unless the flight was just full). It is a long flight in which teams would arrive at 5:25 p.m. on Nov 22nd. This fits well with the Nov 23rd sightings and the fact that we see teams finding a hotel for the night in Fremantle.
Depart Arrive Carrier/Flight Stop/Connex Trip Time
8:40pm 5:25pm+1 EK 6469* / 0420 DXB 5:00 hrs. 16:45 hrs.
10:15pm 5:25pm+1 NL 0392 / EK 0420 DXB 3:35 hrs. 15:10 hrs.
11:55pm 5:25pm+1 LX 0243 / EK 0420 DXB 1:40 hrs. 13:30 hrs.
11:55pm 5:25pm+1 WY 5243* / EK 0420 DXB 1:40 hrs. 13:30 hrs.
The ferry schedule from Fremantle to Rottnest Island is below. It takes aprrox. 30 minutes to cross. All teams should depart Fremantle together and arrive on the island around 8 a.m. If a team can rent their bike, pedal to the lighthouse to get a clue, complete a detour (snorkel or ?) and return to the ferry by 10:30 a.m. they could have a huge lead on teams since the next ferry doesn't leave until 4 hours later! Perhaps they have more to do on the island to prevent any team from finishing that early? Having to wait for the 2:30 ferry would explain why they have time to sit and have lunch at the tearoom.
Depart Fremantle
7:30a.m, 9:30a.m., 11:30a.m., 3:30p.m.
Depart Rottnest Island
8:15a.m., 10:30a.m., 2:30p.m., 4:00p.m., 4:30p.m.

fran and barry get eliminated in perth.
the reason to that is because it is relly hard to get a taxi around perth and you normally have to ring up for one and fran and bary do not attempt to do that they just go around the streets looking for one which makes them fall behind.
and i do know some places they go to the, old prison, rottnest, the bell tower and the harbour.
the old prison is in fremantle
rottnest is a island 18 km from fremantle harbour
and the harbour is 2.5 km from the prison which have faries going to rottnest every 2 hours.
bell tower is situated in the city of perth
rottnest have many activities they will probally do for the detour such as there is a bike riding tours where you ride around the island on a bike riding path which is about a 10 km ride and the other detour would probally be the golfing challenge which is a driving range a bit like season 7 finale.
the pitstop will either be the old historicall prison or the rottnest lodge which is one of the best hotels in western australia
I estimate that Fran and Barry arrived at the pit stop at about just before sunset time which would be around 4:30PM; if they only have to rest for 12 hours, they would or might or could make the Oman Air flight no. 607 which leaves Muscat at 6:30AM and conncects in Dubai and arrives in Perth at 12:15AM! the next morning (November 22) If the other teams can't fly out of Muscat until the early evening (what do they do all day?) and arrive in Perth not until 5:35PM the next day (November 22), the Old Timers would be almost 17 hours ahead of the bunch. Maybe this is why we don't see much of them in the previews!!
Tyler has an iron key to a jail cell; Jo is holding the red roadblock clue in the same location. So it looks like the Roadblock is to locate a certain jail cell and open it. (Shades of China and the locks on the fence!!) Question: does "the find the jail cell" come before or after the trip through the tunnels under the prison in Fremantel??
any educated guess's on the sun on Barrys head ? :-\

"all of the teams" could mean three or four with one still trying to get on. Not sure that FranBerry could even make the 6:30AM flight from Muscat since they would have to drive about 125 miles from Nizwa. But if they did arrive earlier at the pit stop, say around 4:00PM, then they probably could.
If teams arrive in Perth than travel to Fremantel, would they be looking for a place to sleep that early in the evening? If a team arrived at 1215AM then they probably would be looking for a place to sleep when they arrived.
Just throwing out ideas.
What would keep the teams busy in Oman if they have to wait until early evening before flying to Perth?
I dunno Gman , maybe you missed this clue ?

If Chateau is correct about the 8:18 am - 9:01am time for BJ and TYler then Boingo must be mistaken about BJ and TYler leaving Rottnest at that time. The 1st ferry only arrives at the island at 8:00am.
If Fran and Barry were observed walking around in Fremantle between 1:09 and 1:18 pm it means that they got the 10:30 am ferry back to the mainland. According to Turt one team came through earlier than the other teams - could it be Fran And Barry who came through 4 hours earlier than the other 3 teams ? (difference between 10:30 and 2:30pm ferries). Could it be that BJ and Tyler were also on the 10:30 am ferry but weren't noticed? ???

They have already been.
They were over late last year. I had a friend who was over for business and he saw them filming in Fremantle. He was staying at the Esplanade Hotel, and so was the host and crew.
I have done some thinking about the ferries. There appears to be 2 ferry services. The Express which leaves the mainland at 7:30am and have return trips at 8:15am, 10:30 am, 2:30 pm, 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm. The cost per return ticket is US$38. The other service is Hillary Fast Ferries - they leave the mainland at 8:30am and return at 9:30am, 11:30 am and 4:30 pm. the cost per return ticket is US$50.
I have a few quetions for us to ponder on:
All tickets are return tickets. So if a team wants to come back on a different ferry service do they have to buy a completely new set of tickets? If so, the cost of these tickets could force teams to come back on the same ferry service - most likely the Express - especially after spending money to stay somewhere for the night.
Could BJ and Tyler been so successful in their begging that they had enough money to buy extra tickets for the return trip? From Turt's observations one team had quite a lead over the other teams. How did BJ and Tyler build up such lead over all teams in just a bicycle ride and a detour task? They must have been succesfull getting onto a ferry where the other teams couldn't. I think BJ and Tyler got on on the 9:30am Hillary ferryor 10:30am Express, Franberry on the 10:30am Express and the remaining teams on the 2:30pm Express.

dont read this because i know who gets eliminated and what the chalenges are and where the pitstop is.
i know this information because i live in perth and i followed them around to see what they were doing because i am a huge fan of the amazing race and because next episode is in perth for u americans u guys probely cant wait for it so i will to you the insider now
destinations=
.airport
.kingspark
.fremantle harbour
.rottnest island
.fremantle jail
they come from oman to perth leave the airport go get there next clue at kings park which is one of the biggest parks in austrlia and tells them to travel to the fremantle harbour and when teams get there they have to buy a ticket for the fairy which leves every two hours to rotnesst island which is located 18 km from fremantle harbour and when teams get to the island go to the tourist burea and find the clue box.
when they are at rottnest there will be a detour hit it or bike it. in hit teams probely just have to hit a golf ball into a circle just like season 7 and in bike it they have to ride around rottnest which is called rottnest bike tours which is about 5 km.
after teams have completed it catch a fairy back to fremantle and find the old historicall fremantle jail where the will find there next clue.
there is a roadblock in the old tunnels under the jail i dont know what the road block is but when completed they have to run up the stairs to the old cells which is like a round house which is the pit stop for this leg of the race
i am very sure that fran and barry get eliminated because they have trouble fiding taxi in perth because there arent really many around in western australia

Webclues ~
On the drive to the airport , one team picks up a hitchhiker and takes some time to conduct international relations .
Does anyone not believe that this is referring to "The Frat Boys"? I think they pick up a hot chick and conduct some...... :-[

Bumping because I'm wondering about this also. Another question: is there a place where it may have mentioned who gets to the snorkeling/diving first?
Just a thought...
do you think Fran would consider bungee jumping the same as skydiving? And from what I've seen in the spoilers for the other episodes, I don't see any skydiving. There are several places in Perth to sky dive. Any reason to think she did sky dive in Perth??? If not, when do you think they will do that task? Possible a fast forward.
Thanks!
Quick guess....4-5 Km apart. Going to the wrong light house would add add about 2 Km (there and back from the dock). However, taking a "short cut" from the other light house or taking a wrong turn could add a bunch of Kilometers....thanks tarbuckeye , we must have been typing at the same time :yaya:
As an aside, I noticed a youth hostel on the island. Could BJT have made the last ferry the night before, stayed on the island, and gotten an early start on the tasks? That would help explain about them running towards a ferry early in the morning....I hope!
Puddin...if this helps, according to this map, Rottnest Island measures 11km long and 5km wide, which is 6.84 miles long and 3.11 miles wide. Rottnest looks to be about in the middle, so I would guess about 3 or so miles from Rottnest lighthouse to bathurst lighthouse. What do y'all think?

Checked up on the Round House. It can't be the location for the jail cell search since it has only 8 cells on one floor! But it has historical significance since it was built by convicts in 1830 and is tahe oldest public building in the state. So it very well may be the pit stop for this leg of the race.
one more question, what about a yield tonight? or do you think that is next episode? Thanks.
:jam: thank you Gman , also I don't know that Monica is doing the Roadblock ? Maybe I'm not seeing her ?
that tune they play during the promo is SO ANNOYING
Oh, me too. And the Wonderful World one for the start of TAR6. :hearts:
I'm convinced that the shot of BJ&T pushing the bike past the sign is some other sign we don't have independant shots of. So no time stamps for it.
as long as all my boy teams are safe I'll be a happy camper tonight , only team we know 100% are MoJo from tvguides mag .
I agree with you Puddin 100%
desperado
I still think that person is Fran, It just doesn't fit with Eric (of course now that I have said it, I ll be wrong).
Becasue isn't the one under also the one on the boat, and for that team I thought that was Jeremy.
Puddin, do you have the link to the Woodside spoiler? I don't know if they're connected (or even how accurate the spoilers are), but the war memorial is less than a mile from Woodside tower (kmz files attached).
How do you know how long a pit-stop is? And for you detectives out there, is there any way to determine how late a person arrives at the mat?
I wish that during check-in TAR would show what time they arrive.
I dont know about you guys, but for me, this was one of the worst episodes this season. I was really dissapointed. :meow:
