TAR 32: Transportation

<< < (2/6) > >>

Neobie:
Had some time to take a crack at the flights! Have highlighted the most "logical" flights from a production point-of-view in red, although there might be other flights I haven't found yet!

Leg 2: Tobago to Bogota

We know Leg 1 (Tobago) took place on 11 Nov and Leg 4 (Asuncion) took place on 17 Nov. Given none of the first few legs had any complicated travel routings, it's likely that these were spaced out evenly, with Leg 2 taking place on 13 Nov and Leg 3 taking place on 15 Nov.

Tobago hardly has any international flights, so it's likely teams flew or sailed back to Trinidad to leave the country. From Trinidad, the best options are via Panama:

If teams left the evening of 12 Nov:
CM 365 from Port of Spain to Panama City: 12 Nov 1736-1951
CM 659 from Panama City to Bogota: 12 Nov 2117-2255

But more likely, to avoid Hours of Operation bunching:
CM 315 from Port of Spain to Panama City: 13 Nov 0600-0823
CM 627 from Panama City to Bogota: 13 Nov 0928-1103 or
CM 415 from Panama City to Bogota: 13 Nov 1154-1329

There are other options via Miami, New York, and Houston, but these are less efficient routings that don't make sense unless the Panama flights are sold out.

Leg 3: Bogota to Manaus

There are a couple of options, with two arriving at night and requiring an Hours of Operation bunch:

AV 60 from Bogota to Panama City: 14 Nov 1230-1418
CM 141 from Panama City to Manaus: 14 Nov 1552-2055

O6 851 from Bogota to Sao Paulo: 14 Nov 1335-2245
LA 3668 from Sao Paulo to Manaus: 15 Nov 0015-0210

Alternatively, production could release teams later so teams arrive in daylight:

O6 853 from Bogota to Sao Paulo: 14 Nov 2110-0620+1 or
LA 8001 from Bogota to Sao Paulo: 14 Nov 2115-0630+1
G3 1642 from Sao Paulo to Manaus: 15 Nov 1140-1330

AV 261 from Bogota to Rio de Janeiro: 14 Nov 2115-0630+1
G3 2104 from Rio de Janeiro to Manaus: 15 Nov 1155-1405

AA 1126 from Bogota to Miami: 15 Nov 0200-0645
O6 8541 from Miami to Manaus: 15 Nov 0830-1430

From both Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, there are options via Brasilia that could let teams shave an hour or two off, depending on whether they can make the tight connections across different airlines:

O6 6218 from Rio de Janeiro to Brasilia: 15 Nov 0845-1040
LA 3608 from Brasilia to Manaus: 15 Nov 1155-1255

O6 6362 from Sao Paulo to Brasilia: 15 Nov 0800-0945
G3 1726 from Brasilia to Manaus: 15 Nov 1020-1115 or
LA 3608 from Brasilia to Manaus: 15 Nov 1155-1255

Leg 4: Manaus to Asuncion

Thanks to Docol we know teams were racing in the late afternoon of 17 Nov. This means teams most likely took the following flights:
G3 1641 from Manaus to Sao Paulo: 17 Nov 0300-0905 (or any other flight; there are plenty)
G3 7480 from Sao Paulo to Asuncion: 17 Nov 1150-1255

Leg 5: Asuncion to Paris

Teams were seen checking into the Pit Stop by late morning of 20 Nov, so it's likely that teams took a red-eye flight from South America to Paris:

AR 1261 from Asuncion to Buenos Aires AEP: 19 Nov 0835-1025
AF 229 from Buenos Aires EZE to Paris: 19 Nov 1435-0750+1

G3 7481 from Asuncion to Sao Paulo: 19 Nov 1335-1635 (or any other flight; there are plenty)
AF 457 from Sao Paulo to Paris: 19 Nov 1735-0805+1

Leg 6: Paris to Berlin

Too many possible flights to list here, both direct and connecting through Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Munich.
It's also possible that teams took a train between Paris and Berlin; an overnight train takes about 13 hours.

Leg 7: Berlin to Almaty

Berlin has very few international flights, so most likely teams would be connecting through Frankfurt or Munich.

I happened to run into some of the crew transiting in Frankfurt, waiting for LH 648 to Almaty: 23 Nov 1320-0050+1. Didn't see any teams though.

If teams were released in the morning, they'd arrive at night and be forced to wait for Hours of Operation:

B2 894 from Frankfurt to Minsk: 23 Nov 1455-1905
B2 767 from Minsk to Almaty: 23 Nov 2015-0355+1

SU 2323 from Munich to Moscow SVO: 23 Nov 1305-1820 or
SU 2301 from Frankfurt to Moscow SVO: 23 Nov 1345-1910
SU 1946 from Moscow SVO to Almaty: 23 Nov 2110-0445+1

TK 1634 from Munich to Istanbul: 23 Nov 1430-1910 or
TK 1592 from Frankfurt to Istanbul: 23 Nov 1450-1945
TK 350 from Istanbul to Almaty: 23 Nov 2120-0545+1

Release them later, though, and teams would arrive in daylight ready to race. There's no back-up plan for any stragglers that don't make the flight though, and they could fall more than 7 hours behind:
SU 2329 from Munich to Moscow SVO: 23 Nov 1705-2210 or
SU 2657 from Frankfurt to Moscow SVO: 23 Nov 1740-2255
SU 1942 from Moscow SVO to Almaty: 24 Nov 0055-0820

Leg 9: Almaty to Hyderabad

Peach posted that teams were in India at 11:20am on 27 Nov (local time). This gives us the following options:

TK 6785 from Almaty to Istanbul: 26 Nov 1005-1335
TK 720 from Istanbul to Mumbai: 26 Nov 2030-0515+1
AI 615 from Mumbai to Hyderabad: 27 Nov 0620-0740

TK 6785 from Almaty to Istanbul: 26 Nov 1005-1335
TK 716 from Istanbul to Delhi: 26 Nov 2055-0515+1
6E 303 from Delhi to Hyderabad: 27 Nov 0640-0855

SU 1941 from Almaty to Moscow SVO: 26 Nov 1610-1820
SU 232 from Moscow SVO to Delhi: 26 Nov 1950-0425+1
6E 303 from Delhi to Hyderabad: 27 Nov 0640-0855

If teams don't make the above flights, they would be stuck far behind:
FZ 736 from Almaty to Dubai: 27 Nov 0450-0750
6E 25 from Dubai to Hyderabad: 27 Nov 1025-1540

Leg 10: Hyderabad to Siem Reap

Teams were spotted on a flight from Bangkok to Siem Reap around 8am on 30 Nov, so they were probably on one of these:
WE 588 from Bangkok to Siem Reap: 30 Nov 0725-0815 or
PG 903 from Bangkok to Siem Reap: 30 Nov 0800-0900

Working backwards, teams could have connected from Hyderabad through any of the Indian hubs:

AI 127 from Hyderabad to Delhi: 29 Nov 2100-2310 (or any earlier flight)
TG 316 from Delhi to Bangkok: 30 Nov 0020-0545 (or any earlier flight)

6E 6246 from Hyderabad to Kolkata: 29 Nov 2145-2355 (or any earlier flight)
TG 314 from Kolkata to Bangkok: 30 0155-0550 (or any earlier flight)

9W 456 from Hyderabad to Mumbai: 29 Nov 2140-2310 (or any earlier flight)
PG 734 from Mumbai to Bangkok: 30 Nov 0005-0605 (or any earlier flight)

Leg 11: Siem Reap to Manila

This one is strange. Teams were seen racing in Manila by mid-morning on 2 Dec. If teams were released that morning in Siem Reap, the earliest they could have arrived in Manila was the late afternoon. This means they were released the evening of 1 Dec instead, which would have allowed them to get on this direct flight, landing them in Manila in the middle of the night:
5J 258 from Siem Reap to Manila: 1 Dec 2155-0145+1

Leg 12: Manila to New Orleans

Teams were sighted at the airport at around 6pm on 3 Dec.

The routing with the least amount of connections would be via Los Angeles:
PR 112 from Manila to Los Angeles: 3 Dec 1120-0800
AA 2581 from Los Angeles to New Orleans: 3 Dec 1122-1700 or
DL 2297 from Los Angeles to New Orleans: 3 1200-1737

However, production doesn't seem to like that Philippine Airlines flight; they actively avoided it in TAR 25, connecting through Tokyo instead. If their preference holds, teams are more likely to have taken:
DL 180 from Manila to Tokyo: 3 Dec 0955-1530
DL 296 from Tokyo to Atlanta: 3 Dec 1730-1552
DL 811 from Atlanta to New Orleans: 3 Dec 1729-1807

Feel free to add on if you guys find anything new!

Took me a few days to find this, but we know that teams were spotted in Sao Paulo on the 14th November. So we know they flew from Bogota-Sao Paulo-Manaus.

Leafsfan.:
Really surprised at the amount of connecting flights this time around. I wonder what happened (as in were there substitute legs etc.)

WOW! Somehow I missed this...you guys are AMAZING! Thanks Neobie for all that!!

Really hoping this causes some flight drama, or at the very least teams on different flights for more than 1 leg.
