Lee DeWyze avoided elimination from season 9 of American Idol and was eventually crowned the season's champion, but his record contract with RCA Records has ended.
Last week newly appointed RCA Records CEO Peter Edge confirmed that DeWyze, 25, is no longer with the label. Under the leadership of Sony Music's new CEO Doug Morris, who took over in July, RCA has absorbed the rosters of Jive, Arista and J Records.
DeWyze continues to be managed by 19's management arm, and recently revealed that he is working on new music.
Season 9 of American Idol was the final year in a nine-year partnership between American Idol, 19 Recordings and Sony Music, which featured an exclusive license on the show's music releases. DeWyze's option ran out in September.
DeWyze's debut album, Live It Up (2010), sold just over 168,000 copies.
