.... a blurb on David Cook

Fall music showdown: David vs. David

Both of their debut albums made our list of the 20 Fall Albums We Can't Wait to Hear, but the question is:

Whose album will you actually purchase come November?

David Cook's (Nov. 18) or David Archuleta's (Nov. 11)?

.... hmmmm lol Cook  :jumpy:

:jumpy: Here are the lyrics to the new single courtesy of David!

This is a DavidCookOfficial.com exclusive!!

LIGHT ON

Never really said too much
Afraid it wouldn’t be enough
Just try to keep my spirits up
When there’s no point in grieving
Doesn’t matter anyway
Words could never make me stay
Words will never take my place
When you know I’m leaving

Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it’s late at night you can look inside
You won’t feel so alone

You know we’ve been down that road
What seems a thousand times before
My back to a closing door and my eyes to the seasons
That roll out underneath my heels
And you don’t know how bad it feels
To leave the only one that I have ever believed in

Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it’s late at night you can look inside
You won’t feel so alone

Sometimes it feels like we’ve run out of luck
When the signal keeps on breaking up
When the wires cross in my brain
You’ll start my heart again
When I come along

Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it’s late at night you can look inside
You won’t feel so alone

From David Cook's site:

Light On will be released to radio this week and will premiere exclusively on AOL music on Wednesday

SEPTEMBER 23, 2008, 10:06 AM

David Cook's first single, “Light On,” produced by Grammy winning producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock) is being released to radio this week and will be made available on iTunes on 9/30.

"Light On" will premiere exclusively on AOL Music on Wednesday, September 24, on AOL's pop culture news site, PopEater.com. Earlier this year, Cook had the biggest single premiere of the year on PopEater.com with "The Time of My Life" garnering more than one million streams in 24 hours.

“Light On” was co-written by one of rock music’s most influential innovators, Chris Cornell, lead singer and songwriter for Soundgarden and Audioslave, and acclaimed producer / songwriter Brian Howes, who has worked with superstar rock bands such as Hinder and Puddle of Mudd.

Cook has been busy in the studio with Cavallo, co-writing many of the upcoming album’s tracks alongside some of music’s hottest rock songwriters.

Last week marked the launch of DavidCookOfficial.com, Cook’s official social networking site where fans can interact with David, his music and each other. Fans can create their own profiles, make friends and contribute their own blogs, photos, videos and connect with other fans in their towns by various search functionalities. After only five days, it was already the #1 artist site within the entire SonyBMG community.

Earlier this summer Cook set the record for the most new entries by an artist in the 50-year history of the Hot 100, with 11 songs entering the chart dated June 7, 2008. That broke the record of six new entries in one week. Cook's 11 songs were led by "The Time of My Life," which debuted at No. 3, making it the highest new entry of 2008. "The Time of My Life" debuted at No 1 on two other charts, the Hot Digital Songs and the Hot Digital Tracks.

25 year old David Cook hails from Blue Springs, Missouri.

David Archuleta's new song Crush, the Lyric's:

CRUSH

I hung up the phone tonight
something happened for the first time deep inside
its was a rush, what a rush
cause the possibility that you would
ever feel the same way about me
just too much, just too much

why do I keep running from the truth
all I ever think about is you
you got me hypnotized, so mesmerized
and I just got to know

do you ever think when your all alone all that we can be where this thing can go
am I crazy or falling in love is it real, or just another crush
do you catch a breath when I look at you
are you holding back like the way I do
cause im tryin, tryin to walk away
but I know this crush aint goin away, goin away
has it ever crossed your mind,
when were hangin, spending time girl
are we just friends is there more, is there more
see it's a chance that we've gotta take
cause I believe that we can make this into something
that will last, last forever, forever

do you ever think when your all alone all that we can be where this thing can go
am I crazy or falling in love? is it real or just another crush
do you catch a breath when I look at you
are you holding back like the way I do
cause im tryin, tryin to walk away
but I know this crush aint goin away, goin away

why do I keep running from the truth
all I ever think about is you

An interesting article in People:

David Archuleta to Make Acting Debut

David Archuleta is set to make his acting debut in an episode of Nickelodeon's iCarly.

The American Idol Season 7 runner-up will play himself when the cameras roll on Thursday, Nickelodeon confirms. iCarly centers around a high school student, played by Miranda Cosgrove, who runs a video blog with her friends.

In the episode titled "iRocked the Vote," Archuleta, 16, plays a contestant on an Idol-style show called America Sings. He gets a huge spike in votes after winning support in an iCarly webcast.

Archuleta recently released his first music video for the song "Crush," which will appear on his self-titled debut album, due Nov. 11 on Jive Records.

His episode of iCarly will air next spring.

.... more on David A.

David Archuleta is hitting the small screen!

The American Idol runner-up will make his acting debut in an episode of Nickelodeon's iCarly, Nickelodeon confirmed to Usmagazine.com on Wednesday.

"iCarly is all about super-talented teens so David Archuleta is an ideal fit," show executive producer and creator Dan Schneider told Us.

The series is centered around a high school student (Miranda Cosgrove), who has her own Web show.

See photos of your favorite teen stars.

In the episode, Archuleta will play a contestant in a talent competition called "America Sings." Filming will begin on Thursday.

Archuleta released his first single "Crush," in August.

The 17-year-old admitted that he was “nervous” about debuting his new tune.

"It's like, 'this is the day that my song is gonna be on the radio!'" Archuleta told NYC radio station Z100. "It's just crazy. What are people going to think? I hope they like it! I'm so excited!"

Another interesting article:

David Archuleta: Double-Threat? Crooner to Make Acting Debut

He can sing, but can he act?

Viewers will get to judge for themselves if David Archuleta has the skills with his upcoming acting debut on iCarly, a Nickelodeon show about a high school student (Miranda Cosgrove) with a video blog. The Season 7 American Idol runner-up filmed an episode titled "iRocked the Vote" on Thursday, the network confirmed to TVGuide.com, following a
People report.

Archuleta will play himself, but as a contestant on the faux America Sings, an Idol-type show that Carly and her pals can't get enough of. His "character" gets a boost in votes after an iCarly webcast, a Nickelodeon rep explained, leading to a surprise ending.

While Archie's small-screen scenes won't hit the air until next spring, his fans will get some new music to tide them over: His debut album is set to hit streets Nov. 11, and his new video for "Crush" hit streets this past month.

If Archuleta can pull out some acting chops (albeit in a familiar role), could this be the second threat of his young career? What would be your dream role for the teen crooner?

An interesting article on David A:

David Archuleta signs with Azoff Management

David Archuleta has signed with Azoff Management, the career-launching (and often sustaining) music powerhouse that counts The Eagles, Christina Aguilera, Neil Diamond, and, most recently, Morrissey among its clients. But that doesn't mean young Archie, last season's American Idol runner-up, will forgo his dad's guidance from here on out. The reportedly difficult Jeff Archuleta will co-manage his son's music career along with Azoff's Jared Paul, who steers the pop ship for artists like Nick Lachey and New Kids on the Block.

19 Entertainment gets first dibs on Idol finalists for management, but the company apparently passed on Archuleta, while signing winner David Cook (a 19 representative declined to comment). Still, Archuleta remains on the 19 Recordings roster, and the company is intimately involved in overseeing his first album, which is due out Nov. 11. David Cook's debut will drop a week later.
