Idol winner David Cook to sing national anthem at NBA Finals

American Idol winner David Cook will get to sing right in front of Jack Nicholson, Denzel Washington and millions of NBA fans all over the world Tuesday night.

Cook will perform the national anthem before Game 3 of the Lakers-Celtics series, just across the street from where he won the American Idol competition last month at Nokia Theatre.

Cook becomes the latest American Idol winner to sing it at the NBA finals.

Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, and Jordin Sparks all previously did so.

Aww shucks, I didn't know Cook was appearing on the Leno show.

I'm just sorry I haven't kept up w/ him, so I would've known he performed on the Leno show. Yes, he is truly a great performer, the best one from American Idol...well...also Carrie Underwood...she's purdy awesome too!

David Cook is up for his first award since winning the title of American Idol.

The rising star known for his older, female fan base, the Cougars, is now hoping for support from teenagers.

Cook is up for a Teen Choice Award for best male reality star.

His competition includes The JabbaWockeeZ from America's Best Dance Crew, Brody Jenner from The Hills, Rob & Big, and Ryan Sheckler from Life of Ryan.

The Teen Choice Awards air on August 4 at 7:00 p.m. on FOX 4.

David Cook to release 1st CD in November

"American Idol" winner David Cook's debut album is to be released in November, 19 Recordings and RCA Records announced Monday.

Cook teamed up with Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo for the CD, which is set to drop Nov. 18.

DavidCookOfficial.com, Cook's official social networking site, also went live Monday. Fans are now able to create their own profiles, contribute their own blogs, photos and videos and make friends. Fans can communicate with Cook by sending him e-mails at David@DavidCookOfficial.com, Cook's personal mailbox.

"DavidCookOfficial.com will also be the home of exclusive content, unique and exciting contests and will allow fans to keep track of Cook's upcoming events and appearances with an interactive map feature," 19 Recordings and RCA Records said in a news release. "Additionally, it will also incorporate a point system that will allow fans to compete for points which will earn them special prizes."
