Leg 5: Dubrovnik.
- Lots of backtracking this leg; teams started the leg by running past the locations for the Roadblock clue box, cart assembly work stations, and the cart racecourse; I wonder if these were set up only after the teams started their Detours?
- From the Western Harbour (nets) to Buža Gate (chum), Eric/Tucker and Kristine/Rubina took the more direct route within the city walls (shorter but with lots of stairs), while the other teams followed the main road around the walls (longer, but with a more manageable gradient).
- Izzy/Paige and Hannah/Simone didn't go too far out to the larger Buža Bar, it's a simple 170m/185yd walk along the city walls between the two.
- The cart race was actually pretty straight-forward, with only one bend in the road to navigate.
- Revisiting a lot of locations from TAR 12, which also had tasks at the Western Harbour (the stone matching Roadblock) and Fort Bokar (the rappelling Detour).

It's kinda fun when they don't tip off the U-Turn to the teams until right before they race to it.* What an epic location for the U-Turn board- it made its return in style!

I echo the compliments of the Roadblock. Not only is it a good two-part challenge on paper, it worked out great in practice to have a 4-way race to stay out of last (which was then whittled down to 3-way and 2-way).

Whenever 2 teams are U-Turned, at least one will survive to the next leg. Here, both teams survived, and both seem very fired up about coming back with a vengeance on the next leg. Before, the pre-existing relationships of Big Brother didn't feel like they were adding much substance to the Race. Now, with this U-Turn drama, the relationships are augmenting the storyline. Being U-Turned is pretext for reprisal, and neither Jas & Jag nor Joseph & Adam have a Courtesy Of Pass anymore...

*It's also more fun when teams can't see what the Roadblock task is before they decide who has to do it, but I digress

AN EVENING OF HAUNTS AND HAPPENINGS AWAITS THE BALLROOM ON ‘HALLOWEEN NIGHT’ OCT. 28

Featuring the Return of ‘Dance Monster-thon’ and Guest Judge Cheryl Burke

“Halloween Night” — The remaining couples get into the spooky spirit with eerie makeovers and chilling routines, conjuring up a hauntingly entertaining night. Two-time Mirrorball champion Cheryl Burke returns to the ballroom as guest judge. “Halloween Night” premieres TUESDAY, OCT. 28 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT/PDT, 7:00-9:00 p.m. CDT), simulcast LIVE across both ABC and Disney+ in local time zones and next day on Hulu. The show is produced in front of a live audience by BBC Studios.

The night will feature performances to “Sympathy is a knife” by Charli xcx featuring Ariana Grande and “The Dead Dance” by Lady Gaga; and Jan Ravnik and Jenna Johnson will perform a routine to “CANCELLED!” by Taylor Swift. Then, it’s the return of the dance marathon, “Dance Monster-thon.” All nine couples are set to join the ballroom floor at the same time, first dancing a Hustle and then the Lindy Hop. The judges will tap out couples from the marathon, one at a time. Couples earn additional bonus points based on how long they remain in the dance marathon, and the last couple standing will be crowned king and queen of “Dance Monster-thon.” Bonus points from the dance marathon will be added to the judges’ scores from the first round of dance to determine a final combined leaderboard of the night.

The couples (along with their dance styles and songs) are the following:

Social media personality Alix Earle and partner Val Chmerkovskiy will perform a Tango to “bury a friend” by Billie Eilish.

Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin and partner Witney Carson will perform an Argentine Tango to “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This” by The Hampton String Quartet.

From “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” Whitney Leavitt and partner Mark Ballas will perform a Jazz to “Brain Stew” by Green Day.

Reality TV star and content creator Dylan Efron and partner Daniella Karagach will perform a Viennese Waltz to “Can’t Help Falling In Love (DARK)” by Tommee Profitt and Brooke.

Comedian Andy Richter and partner Emma Slater will perform a Paso Doble to “Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67: I. Allegro con brio” by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Film and TV actress Elaine Hendrix and partner Alan Bersten will perform an Argentine Tango to “Bad to the Bone” by 2WEI and Bri Bryant.

From “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” Jen Affleck and partner Jan Ravnik will perform a Contemporary to “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift.

“Boy Meets World” star Danielle Fishel and partner Pasha Pashkov will perform a Viennese Waltz to “Die With A Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.

Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles and partner Ezra Sosa will perform a Contemporary to “Elastic Heart” by Sia.

That Roadblock was deceptively challenging. It wasn't just "ride down a hill", the racers who did a crappy job building their cart ended up being the slower ones.

Amazing Race 38 / Re: TAR 38 Speculation & Discussion of the LIVE Spoilers
« Last post by Xoruz on October 23, 2025, 01:36:38 PM »
is leg 6 still speculated to be Montenegro?

It is still speculation at this point, but we think so. There is a video of Jag and Jas opening their clue at the leg 6 pit start in Dubrovnik and while it is hard to make out specifics, some can hear them say "Podgorica"

This is an answer to an old question, but turns out that they said "Trsteno Arboretum."

Way more edge of your seat moments here compared to the Survivor episode that aired before it. First leg with a complete equalizer of all of teams, which was needed considering how small the old section of Dubrovnik is. That was a pretty iconic reaction from Izzy to being U-Turned, though fortunately for her the Roadblock allowed a lot of time to catch up. The fact that it came down to a 4-way race to avoid elimination was intense.
Show content
Quite an emotional finish for Hannah & Simone. They showed that they could bounce back before, but sadly lightning did not strike twice.
