What we think we know ...
Sunday July 10th,
Dulles airport (http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=2666383&st=3975&p=3217759&#entry3217759) (outside Washington D.C.),
Jul 9, 2005
I usually avoid spoilers, but I have to share this one. My husband just called from Dulles airport (outside Washington D.C.), and he just saw Phil and three production types checking in for a United flight (at around 7:45pm eastern time). No clue which flight; they were in the first-class line and poor hubby was stuck in a long economy line and couldn't hear anything or follow/stalk Phil. If he happens to run into Phil again and sees which flight he's on, I'll post again.
Monday July 11th
Charleston, SC (http://community.realitytvworld.com/boards/DCForumID37/1179.shtml)
07-12-05,
Looks like it is a North America edition.
Rumor has it that TAR8 filmed in Charleston, SC (more specifically Mount Pleasant, which is on the other side of the bridge from peninsular Charleston) on July 11.
I'm sorry I don't know other details.
more from the poster of the above ~
scwriter
Sorry it took me so long to reply.
Yes, that would be the Yorktown in Mount Pleasant. Actually there are a lot of historic/tourist attractions around Charleston (where the Civil War started). There's also Fort Moultrie, Fort Sumter, etc., etc.
Also, the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America, which connects Charleston and Mount Pleasant, opened last weekend. There were a lot of events on it the week before it opened, and a friend and I wondered if they might have done something there. (No one reported any bungee jumping or climbing on it!)
There was nothing in the local paper about TAR being in town, but that's no surprise. The TV writer is on vacation. The weekly paper in Mount Pleasant didn't have anything either. I have heard of no Phil sightings, flag sightings or sightings of running foursomes, and it seems like someone would have seen something and called the newspaper. Still I believe the information I have and will continue to dig.
Here's a little more detail:
My boss' son, who occasionally works as a production assistant locally, went to an audition/interview on July 10. He was hired instead to be on camera for a shoot on July 11. He was told to go to a certain place, and then he (and others who were hired) were shuttled to the shoot. He had to sign a confidentiality agreement and wouldn't even give any information to his mother, other than it was for a "family reality show for network TV." She had heard from another source that it was for ABC. She's not a TAR fan, so she had not put it together. We had heard "The Next Top Model" was in town, but her son said that wasn't it.
Additionally, the local CBS affiliate had auditions for the next AR a week earlier.
I know I am suspect because I'm a new poster, but while I offer few comments, I am a daily lurker. If I am wrong, I am sorry.
I wish I had something more concrete. I can check with the town and see bout filming permits. A new network drama for fall is also filming in Charleston.

I’ve never delved into spoilers for TAR, but I received word of this today (and maybe this ties in with the Virginia locations) - TAR is apparently filming in Norfolk, Va. tomorrow. They apparently are going to film the contestants running through the Norfolk International Airport. The filming is supposed to be contained to the airport. It seems like an odd thing to film…and of course this would happen after I have moved from there.
Talladega (http://www.al.com/entertainment/huntsvilletimes/index.ssf?/base/entertainment/1121246191244210.xml&coll=1)
The teams completed their two challenges and then went to their rooms at the Huntsville Marriott. They were then given a 12-hour break before leaving Tuesday afternoon for their next challenge: Talladega.

Are you sure i see nothing of the Rogers either. And from the previews for episode two its kind of been cut in stone all week either Rogers or Paolos are going this week(but nobody else really realized Rogers were in trouble until today when i saw the first post on it). So this preview tells me nothing. Unless you all saw the Rogers and i didnt.
-
:] Hey, they got rid of the most obnoixious team right at the get go.
Those are lovely shots of Dulles International Airport either very early in the morning or very late at night since the main concouse is practically empty. Never happens! But it would be early Sunday morning most likely. Which means that the pit stop could be back up there in Monocacy. But this is indeed strange routing.
-
This is very interesting. Space center, mud riding and shrimping. Doesn't look like Talladega is noted. The shrimp boats could be anywhere from Bayou LaBatre Alabama (Forest Gumps old stompin grounds) all the way down the gulf coast to La. Looks like New Orleans is next {**} I looked up a forum that had mud racing enthusiast in Mobile Alabama and asked them to look at the pics of the jeeps.

Can we get back to where the Rogers are seen in this preview?

The sloping walls (Aiello photo) make me think of Dulles, although I've never been there.
Can anybody with good resolution make out the name of the shrimp boat? One spoiler (way back)
mentioned Mount Pleasant, outside of Charleston. Nearby Shem Creek is home to a shrimping fleet.

WAHHHHHHHHHH Rodgers eliminated
Good Job never0102 :t-up:

My first guess was "risk taker" but all the vessels with that name are pleasure craft. If anyone figures it out, go here (http://www.st.nmfs.gov/st1/commercial/landings/cg_vessel2.html).

Looks like Alabama all around on the photos. Bayou LaBatre in Alabama has over 400 shrimping boats and there alot of off-road mud racing tracks in South Alabama.
-
or Miss ....
All I could think of now is Forrest Gump Ala -BAM -Ma {l{
Gulfport Mississippi
edited to add Miss .. is very common for shrimp boat names

I didn't see the movie, but a few clicks tells me that Bayou La Batre was the home of a character named "Bubba," so a movie reference from the producers is a possibility.
If a clear screencap of the ticket (#17) is available, the problem can be searched from the opposite side.

See my earlier post: that is Dulles International Airport's main terminal. Note that cars are driving up in the dark and the main concouse is empty of people. This only happens in the early morning hours. And if teams come from the camp site in Middleburg, VA and leave after 12 hour mandatory rest period, they would be arriving like in 3 or 4 in the morning. It is only about a 30 minute drive from Middleburg to IAD. Notice that at the beginning of EP2 they never mentioned that it was a "12 hour" rest stop, just that it was a rest stop. Phil also never mentioned the time the teams arrived, just the time they were leaving 7:57AM whch means according to CdeI's reconning that they arrived at 3:04PM which means they had a rest of around 16 hours. But this time it looks like they stick to the 12 hours since the teams are arriving at the airport in the middle of the night (early morning)
Sidebar: I imagine the teams camp out in Virginia just as they camped out in Philadelphia and Lancaster. Cheap CBS saving on hotel money after they make the teams buy their own camping gear!! I hope they at least fed the teams dinner.
-
I am going to say Aiello's get eliminated under the "Black Spoiler". The Black Family said they were real close to the Rogers and Aiellos, and well with Rogers gone Aiellos' my guess go soon after, and they are seen having difficultry, so its prolly them going.

per Banzai
The race, according to sources, started Thursday at an undisclosed location with 11 teams. The remaining eight to 10 four-member teams arrived here late Monday from somewhere in South Carolina on two buses.
"Amazing Race" producers wanted to come to the Space Center after hearing about its annual Moon Buggy Race. There had been talk about building a moon buggy track for the "Amazing Race" contestants, but CBS officials apparently nixed that idea.
Upon arriving at the Visitors Bureau, the contestants were given clues to find the Space Center. Once they found the museum, the teams went to Aviation Challenge for their first challenge that involved the centrifuge - an astronaut trainer that provides 3 1/2 to four Gs. After that, the contestants raced on foot to Rocket Park under the replica of the shuttle, where they were given clues to find a computer station inside the museum.
The teams completed their two challenges and then went to their rooms at the Huntsville Marriott. They were then given a 12-hour break before leaving Tuesday afternoon for their next challenge: Talladega.
-
So teams fly from Middleburg, VA to Norfolk International Airport , then do some Jeep Mud bogging in South Carolina then hop a bus to some Shrimp place on the Mississippi ( New Orleans ? what about the Natchez Steam boat , some other task ?)to count shrimp ( like the IKEA box TAR6 ?) off to Huntsville/Alabama to the Nasau to the Space camp .. next day ( EP4 ) head to Talladega
I am SO confused :Lat: :':')

Oh I see you can post maps Chateau but if I do you laugh at me {l{ !
I was looking at the jeeps/mud bogging race place , could it be in South Carolina ? I can't seem to find any sort of place in that area .. maybe its in Alabama ? but why go to Charleston ? Still confused on this one .. note that the Gaghan dad yells " were in last place YAY ! " If we could figure out whos all on the bus ( I dont see the Linz family ) then we could figure out which teams are ahead .
From memory, I now see the Paolo's ( thanks never ) , Gaghans , Weavers , Shroeders & Aiello's .
No Linz , no Godlewski , no Bransens

MISSING ELEVENTH TEAM?
I'll put this here although it doesn't really go with Ep3:
If you look carefully during the Battlefield introductions by Phil in Middleburg, VA the camera pans the stretchers lined up in precise military fashion, each with an orderly behind. As the camera pans you can count TEN repeat TEN stretchers each exactly the same distance apart. If only NINE teams are in the race why 10 stretchers? The Godlewski Sisters take the second from the right stretcher as the first one taken with a Union escort. The Weavers arrive next but opt out for the oil. The Linz siblings are next. While they stand to the right of the line of stretchers you now can see that there is a grassy gap where the second stretcher was and then there is another grassy gap where stretcher no. five was before but is missing now.In other words when the Linz were the "second" team to arrive at the stretchers, two had already been taken by other teams.
Further along, when the Linz Siblings are standing at the finish line waiting to jump on the mat, in the distance two people (they look like kids actually) are just coming around the trees onto the dirt road. Is this the missing 11th team??? The third team introduced as coming in "third" were the Godlewski sisters
Phil is very careful in giving out the results. You never see him and the team together as he says Jones you are team number five. First there is a shot of the team arriving and holding their breath. Cu of Phil saying Jones. Cut to team holding breath. Back to CU Phil saying you are team number five. Shot of team jumping with joy as name of team and Team No. 5 is supered. This sequence is very easily edited to make any team come in any place they want..
So once again keep your eyes peeled for nine when there are only eight.

If the teams camp out again in Middleburg, VA and then leave after the normal 12 hours, they probably will be leaving around 2 or 3 AM. Note that last night Phil never said how long the mandatory rest stop was, nor did he say what time the team arrived as he usually has done (i. e. The Jones were tlhe first team to arrive at 3:05PM so they are the first team to leave at 3:05AM) he just said that the Godlewskis would leave at 7:57AM. Perhaps the Godlewskis arrived at 3:57PM which would make a pit stop of 16 hours. But I degress.
Leaving Middleburg it is a short hop down Route 50 East (now is the time to go east) to Route 28 north which takes you right into Dulles International Airport (IAD). So the first team should be arriving around 3:30AM. This makes sense since the main concouse is deserted, there are no card except the SUV the team arrives in on the driveway in front of the terminal. These are just not the usual occurance at this very busy airport.
There are only two early morning flightson Sunday from IAD for Charleston, SC (CHS) one on IndepenceAir: flight 1530 leaving at 8:15AM arriving non-stop at 9:55AM and one on United Air Lines flight 5555 leaving also at 8:15 and arriving at 10:03AM. There is an earlier flight on Delta leaving at 7:00AM but it connects through Atlanta and does not arrive in CHS until almost noontime.
If the information published in the Huntsville Times on July 13 is true (but we now know how reliable newspapers reports are a la Gettysburg) the teams arrive from Charleston, SC on two buses (we have promo shot of buses) arriving Monday night July 11 between Midnight and 4AM. The teams then leave in 8 to 10 SU's for the NASA space center. So if this is correct then the fishing/shrimping excersize and mud race with all team members in both tasks must take place in South Carolina on Sunday and Monday July 10 and 11.
The article further states that this is a pit stop and the teams spend the night in the Huntsville Marriott Hotel (makes up for those three nights of camping out!)

To Easy ~
Magwood dock
President of the S.C. Shrimpers Association, Wayne says the life of a shrimper is a hard one but it's in his blood: "It's been good for me, but the older I get, the harder it seems." Chasing shrimp from North Carolina to Cape Canaveral, he's sometimes been on the water as long as 11 days. During off- season, you're likely to see his boat, Winds of Fortune ("I've been meaning to rename it after my dad, I just haven't got around to it.") docked at Magwood's next to The Wreck restaurant.

Chateau in the promos you can see other teams in the background running , probably towards the jeeps .

GMan, about the 11th team check. The thing that works in CBS favor (that there were always 10 teams) is that they arrived at the start in 5 Water Taxis and each had only two teams onboard.
I think the Jeeping has to be in the Charleston area too. Like the shrimp.

Just a "miss karen" image search. I can't see the same team on both events, so can we figure this is a Mud/Shrimp detour?
About the road: I've found a Hwy 63 in SC and a county road 63 east of Huntsville. Best I can do right now.

Well no surprises there ^/^ .
Back to my mission of finding that Pueblo whatever Mission ..I swear it does not exist (:;)
-
First: Pudddin - my AZ friend cannot identify mission whatever; but if in AZ suggest try the Tubac area southeast of Tucson.
Second: Chateau - if there were indeed 11 teams at the start, there still might be only five water taxies (can't see just one team on a sixth boat) with three teams on one boat. The third team could be digitally removed in post production just as they remove extraneous shots of camera crews etc. Just saying MIGHT BE 11 TEAMS.
But the question still remains why were 11 GMC SUV's lined up in Brooklyn? And why were 10 stretchers and orderlies lined up in Middleburg?
So it looks like the shrimping takes place in South Carolina. So perhaps jeeps and mud do also since we know the teams are there until they take the bus to Huntsville, AL that night. I seem to recall that one bus left at 8PM and the second bus left at 9PM.
Another question: It looks like at least two members of each team are shown on the centrifuge at NASA; does this mean that all four members of each team must ride the machine? Would smallish 9 year old Carissa be allowed to ride it??????
-

Did anybody see an aircraft carrier (http://www.patriotspoint.org/content.asp?catID=3222) around here?
You can see it behind the Linz team as they run down the dock.
From Google maps I found the dock that they are on across the bay from the USS Yorktown. It’s the only one that points to the carrier.
-
Since we are catching a shadow on the port side of the Yorktown it would seem that the shot of the Linzs (having finished the shrimping task, running from the boat) was taken after 1 pm.
The 'boat' is niether the Miss Karen nor the Winds of Fortune.

Have ya'll seen this yet from over at Reality TV World? They have actual pictures of the teams at and leaving the space center. Check out the link.
Swiped from reality:
Episode 3 features the teams in my city - Huntsville, AL for a trip to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and Pit Stop for leg 3. The following link includes pictures from ep. 3 taken at the S&R Center. One picture shows several teams leaving the pit stop the next morning, so we can figure out who some of the non-eliminees are.
If anyone has questions about Huntsville and how it may impact the teams, post here. I've lived here 25 years.

Great Find Suspandalee. This info will help sort some things out:
Whitaker said that finding the Space Center wasn't the hard part, finding Ed Buckbee Building where Aviation Challenge is located on the grounds of the USSRC. After the Centrifuge, teams had to go to Rocket Park and perform some tasks, then go inside the Space Museum and use the computer to do some tasks. The finishing line and the host Phil Keoghan waited at the Astrotrek Building.
It says we should not draw conclusions about who got eliminated but since the shots are in daylight we know that they were taken after the last team checked in.
-
The article says the first teams did not arrive until about midnight and the last team came in around 4-5 a.m. It also states that after the pit stop checkin the teams were required a 12 hour rest at the adjacent Marriott. We need the sunlight experts to determine if these or morning or late afternoon shots.

Part of their camping gear, I do believe. We saw them loading similar stuff in the luggage carriers of the SUV's as they left the Rohrer Farm after the first pitstop. Which means they are going to have to check most of their luggage at Dulles International before the flight to Charleston, SC. No way can they carry all this stuff onto the plane with them. Do we know how they are getting to Huntsville? Do they fly in? I'm starting to get confused in the transportation modes when some talk about buses and some about SUVs. The article below says they were delayed because of weather conditions on July 11. It also says the first teams (plural) arrive around midnight and the last team (singular) arrived around 4-5 a.m. No one in the pics seem to be "racing" but are walking leisurely. I would guess these are after the pitstop checkin and on their way to the hotel?

Its after the rest period being we see the teams racing into the space center in the dark from teh preview. The Linz and Branson were there together also refer to the preview, so they prolly arrive and leave right with each other. The only three teams that are seen are the Scroders, Branson, and Linz. In that group one it all normal people no big back packs like the other racers, so my best guess is the Scroeder, Branson, and Linz are the first three to reach the pit stop.

About midnight Monday, with Hurricane Dennis' last breath soaking Huntsville, there was a flurry of activity at the Huntsville-Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau at 500 Church St.
I now believe that 'midnight Monday' means early morning Tuesday the 12th. If this is so then the teams get another day to get from Middleburg, VA to Hunstville, AL.

Im going to bring the whole story over cause I'm sick of going back and forth
Behind the Scenes of "The Amazing Race 8--Family Edition"
The Amazing Race is my favorite reality show on TV...and I must not be the only one--the show just won it's third Emmy for "Best Reality Show." Imagine my excitement last April when I thought I heard rumors of "The Amazing Race" coming to Huntsville! I was at the annual Great Moonbuggy Raceat the U.S. Space & Rocket Center(USSRC) and happened upon a conversation between Al Whitaker, Media & Public Relationships Manager, and a couple NASA employees. I thought I heard the words "Amazing Race"--but when I questioned Al, he vehemently denied my eavesdropping skills.
When "The Amazing Race" comes to a town, everything is hush-hush, $10 million confidentiality clauses are signed, everyone locally connected to the event is sworn to secrecy, and, in the case of Huntsville, they come in the middle of the night and leave quickly the next day.
Episode 3 featuring Huntsville and the USSRC will air on CBS on October 11, 2005.
The Challenge: The Centrifuge...
Al Whitaker now wishes to apologize to the local media for having to steer them wrong. He first learned about CBS's interest in bringing "The Amazing Race" to Huntsville back in February. At first, the network wanted to film AR during the Great Moonbuggy Race and contacted NASA, the sponsor of that event. When the idea for the Moonbuggy Race was scrapped, NASA officials suggested the show talk to Whitaker about bringing the Amazing Race to USSRC. After a tour of the site, "The Amazing Race" people decided that a ride in the Centrifuge would be a great task for the teams. The Centrifuge is a small two-person capsule on the end of a revolving arm. The faster the arm spins, the more G-force created upon those inside the capsule. It's identical to what NASA and the Navy use to train their pilots and astronauts. Sponsored Links
The Amazing Race
The Centrifuge is designed in such a way as to not exceed 5 G's for safety purposes. The machine makes people feel like they weigh 4 times more than they actually weigh and pulls your flesh back and exerts pressure on your chest. Whitaker spent time during the show explaining to the teams what they would feel and giving out the clue when their task was finished. Alex Hanna was in charge of actually strapping the contestants into the Centrifuge.
Eight Suburbans...
The teams were expected to arrive at the Space & Rocket Center sometime in the afternoon of July 11th but were delayed because of weather conditions. Eight black Suburban SUV's were parked at the Huntsville Convention & Visitors Bureau awaiting the teams arrival. Employees at the Visitors Center and the Parking & Public Transportation Department didn't know what was going on. The cars were parked in their parking lot after business hours and were gone shortly after the workday began the next day. The first teams did not arrive until about midnight and the last team came in around 4-5 a.m. If you're familiar with Huntsville at all, you know that if you look anywhere in town at night and see the Saturn V rocket lit up at the Space & Rocket Center...so it was probably easy for the teams to find where they were suppose to be going.
The Teams Explore the Space & Rocket Center
In the meantime, USSRC had parked all their tour buses end-to-end to block the view of the Space Center from public view and help with the privacy issue.
12-Hour Mandatory Rest...
Afterwards, the USSRC catered a meal for the more than 90 people involved with the show--teams, cameramen, sound technicians, production crew, and, of course, Phil. The teams were required to take a mandatory rest of 12 hours at the Huntsville Marriott , conveniently located next door to the USSRC, where word is that the whole west wing was rented to them so that no one would know they were there or talk to them or disturb them. Of course, the whole hotel was sworn to secrecy, so there's "no comment" from the staff.
Teams Leave Huntsville...
The teams started leaving Huntsville around 11 a.m. the next day. The photos in this article are all from the USSRC...not all teams were filmed and so no conclusion can or should be made as to who got eliminated on this third episode of the show. Whitaker refused to sign the $10 million confidentiality clause because it would make him responsible for all the USSRC employees involved with the event and he didn't feel he could control that. At that point, it was too late for CBS to turn back on the deal, so they went ahead without the signed contract. Watch Huntsville on October 11th on CBS as "The Amazing Race" scrabbles through the Rocket City!
-
Good idea Puddin. I've so many windows open I'm going silly.
For timing I think that the Teams arrived at USSRC between 1 am (first team) and 5 am (last team) on Tuesday the 12th. They finished the leg between 3 am and 7 am. We know that they go to the hotel for rest and will start again between 3 pm and 7 pm on Wednesday the 13th. So the teams walking about leisurely at 1 pm may be the lead teams getting in position for the start of Leg 4.

I don't know what to make of this :
The teams started leaving Huntsville around 11 a.m. the next day.
because we are told the first teams arrived just about midnight in another part of town. And they had to drive to USSRC. And do tasks. And take a 12 hour timeout. Maybe the got shorted for rest time? Or maybe the reporter is just noting that they started leaving the hotel at that time.

GMan
There are only two early morning flightson Sunday from IAD for Charleston, SC (CHS) one on IndepenceAir: flight 1530 leaving at 8:15AM arriving non-stop at 9:55AM and one on United Air Lines flight 5555 leaving also at 8:15 and arriving at 10:03AM. There is an earlier flight on Delta leaving at 7:00AM but it connects through Atlanta and does not arrive in CHS until almost noontime.
I'm getting a strong "Independence Air" from thes boarding passes with Aiello stamped on them.

Here is Phil's flight to Charleston from AirWize (http://travel.airwise.com/schedules/index.html).
The husband saw Phil at about 7:45 pm checking in to United 1st class. So the 9:30 direct flight # 5383 was probably the one.

Just to help with that Puddin, I don't think those busses are parked to block the view because when I was getting the satellite image of the shuttle I saw where that arc is in the USSRC parking lot. It totally shields nothing.

Well TAR is the much superior game anyway. I was watching Survivor tonight and thought, geez, what kind of fun is that and who would want to play that game with all the mosquitos constantly biting and 114 degree heat, not to mention how boring!. My mind instantly wandered to TAR and how adventurous and fun the show is for the players and to the viewers. TAR ROCKS! =]/

Agreed supsandalee ,TAR is full of energy and still keeps me on the edge of my seat :cheer: , although the 20 minutes of looking at clue boxes around the reflecting pool was just ridiculous (%#

Some timeline stuff: the Huntsville photos include a shot of Phil in the centrifuge and mentioned that he arrived before the other teams to check things out; fwiw, the photo and a crop of the watch, which looks like "11:35"

Here’s my Thursday Theory (hey, it’s still Thursday in California!)
Pudding’s “MIA” list has those teams on the “We’re all in last place!” bus.
Bus to Huntsville (“last bus“)
Paulo
Aiello
Gaghans
Weaver
The reason they are on that bus is they messed up in Charleston.
Shrimp Boat
Linz
Bransens
Schroeders
Paolos
Jeeps in Mud
Aiellos
Gaghans
Weavers
The Jeep option was the slow one. And the Paolos were edged out of their ride on the first bus by the Godlewski sisters who could have done either option and still beat them. {l{

Now that I look at it, These Schroeders are a lot later than these Bransens.
Schroeders: 2:45 pm
Bransens: 1:10 pm

moving this over from the EP4 thread
This is what CBS.com says about the episode:
*Teams perform a challenge that is out of this world. (I'm thinking space camp.)
*Tensions mount at the airport when families show signs of wear and tear and biting words are exchanged.
*One racer annoys her family when she turns a cumbersome task into playtime. (I hate to say this, but it might be the Gaghan daughter.)
And what about the Niagara Falls spoiler: Two adults and two children? Gaghans in final three, or out at F4 and are decoy??
I think plaything refers to Mama Paolo who is heard saying something like: One for you and one for me.
Or the Linz boy playing with the shrimp , but momma Paolo is a good guess too !

I wonder if all four team members have to do the centrifuge or only two? Perhaps only two so that Gaghans would not be stuck with fact that neither of their kids probably would be allowed to go on the centrifuge.

Do you think they are clues
Maybe not all, but I think it's worth considering. There's a big hole between Talladega and Niagara Falls, filled so far only with Central America
and Sedona. We'll need some out-of-the-box searching, like when you found the bridge in Canada and Chateau found Paul Bunyan's chair >*&. Take the pueblo as an example. It's true, as Pedaler wrote, that saguaro only grows in the Sonoran desert. But who's to say it wasn't just planted somewhere? Here's (http://www.americansouthwest.net/texas/langtry/langtrysaguaro_l.html) a saguaro at Judge Roy Bean's old place. When the sightings for this season started rolling in, I thought spoiling TAR8 would be dead simple, but I was wrong.
-
Slowhatch I searched just Pueblo , Adobe , desert church , desert mission , mission bells ..you name it I looked for it >^% . I even searched studios looking for props and roadside attractions . Like Banzai I am sure the flag is Mexico ..but can't find anyplace even close to it ..most roofs are flat and our little adobe has those unique 3 windows/bell whatever archs on the top .
-
Puddin, I was trying "swap meets" too but i had to do other stuff not TAR related. Put the location address into Google Maps and check the satellite image. I thought it may be the way because the place looks like it can be set up for shaded selling stalls. Just an idea. :gman: And, yes I think that is a Mexican flag too, so it could be along the boarder.
And, Slowhatch, don't forget that we have a definite on Old Faithful too.

Hey, guys, don't strain too many brain cells on this one. State maps are just cutsy, 30's type postcards and represent nothing but all states in ALPHABETICAL ORDER from Nevada to West Virginia. Nothing more.
My big question is around where do Roadblock and Detour tasks take place.
First, teams leave pitstop in Middleburg VA in early morning between 2 and 3 AM and travel by SUV to Dulles International Airport (30 minutes max even if you can't read a map correctly). They arrive there in the wee hours of the morning (note that departure ramp is deserted, main concorse is deserted) since airport seems empty. Teams seem to be walking to the far left where United Air and Independence Air counters are located.
Second, two flights seem available for teams to fly from IAD to CHS both leaving at 8:15AM:
Independence Air flight no. 1530 arrives at 9:55AM
United Airlines flight no. 5555 arrives at 10:03AM
Third, teams then go somewhere to get clue for DETOUR (perhaps to a historical location like Fort Sumter or even USS Yorktown). DETOUR now seems to be either CLEAN (counting and cleaning 200 pounds of shrimp) or DIRTY (drive a jeep through the mud). Teams doing CLEAN (Linz, Bransen, Schroeder, Paolos) and teams doing DIRTY (Gaghans, Weavers, Aiellos) afterwhich it looks like they may again go somewhere else before getting on the two buses to Huntsville which seems to leave at 8PM and 9PM. Otherwise we have a lot of time to kill between the Detour and bus departure times.
Fourth, teams arrive in Huntsville between midnight and 4AM at the visitors center to pick up SUV's to drive to NASA SPACE CAMP. Now probably a typical TAR Bunch point waiting for center to open.
Firth, now a problem unless producers are giving us another switch in having more than one Detours. There seem to be a lot of different tasks reported happening here: Centrifuge ride at the Ed Buckbee Building (aviation challenge); a maze of some sort at the Rocket Park; and a computer task at the Space Museum (AOL?). On the centrifuge we see at least two team members riding up to 3.2G's. But do all four team members have to do it or just two? I suspect that the two youngest Gaghan kids (12 and 9) would not be allowed on the machine, so perhaps only 2 have to do it. This would be another bunch point since only one team can do it at a time (eight teams means last team is going to be way behind)
UNLESS THE CENTRIFUGE IS ANOTHER DETOUR TASK and teams have a choice.
Finally, PIT STOP is at the NASA ASTROTREK BUILDING. It was CONFIRMED on CBS Sunday Morning that another eliminated team would be on TES on Wednesday morning. So no NEL nor TBC again this week.

I've been searching for the mission for a while too. A wore out looking for missions, adobes, churches and last night started looking at movie studio sets and wild west towns. Found out they still do old west reenactments. That seems like a family TAR thing to do. Thought I was close with a couple. The electrical outlet you pointed out made me think it could be a set. I'll keep looking! :gman:

GMAN: Since there are no shots of the Godlewskis do you think we could have our first Fast Forward??
-
Did a little checking. Best I can judge is that trip from Charleston SC to Huntsville AL is about 450 miles by interestate. Assuming that buses do not exceed speed limit (65miles per hour) we are looking at a trip of from 7 to 8 hours. If buses leave at 8PM and second bus at 9PM, they would be arriving in Huntsville at about 3 and 4AM.
Also in the pix we have from NASA it looks like all of the teams shown are just mousing along; nobody is racing and the teams seem close together. So this looks to me like after the teams reach the matt and are now going to the Marriott Hotel for the 12 hour (or longer) rest stop. Also note that the teams are carrying all their gear including the camping stuff they picked up in New York which means all of the teams had to check their baggage at IAD. Does this mean the teams are going to camp out again somewhere??
-
GMan the travel time from Charleston to Hunstville is about 11 hours (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=from%3A+charleston,+sc+to%3A+500+Church+St.,+Huntsville,+al&f=d&hl=en) so I was thinking that the first bus leaves around 2 pm.
I corrected for the one hour timezone change.
Opps. Theres a whole day to play with here! |(
Timeline
Thurs July 7, Race starts around noon, teams camp in Philadelphia
Fri July 8, Teams leave Philadelphia between 10 and 11 am, Leg 1 ends in Lancaster between 2 and 3 pm.
Sat July 9, Leg 2 starts with teams leaving Lancaster between 8 an 9 am, Leg 2 ends in Middleburg, VA between 1 and 3 pm.
Sun July 10, Leg 3 starts, teams leave between 1 and 2 am, bunched at Dulles, flights to Charleston arrive about 10 am to noon, tasks, 24 hr weather delay (or there was an extended pit stop between Leg 2 and Leg 3).
Mon July 11, buses leave 2 to 6 pm
Tues July 12, Buses arrive in Huntsville 12 to 4 am, teams start tasks at USSRC 1 to 5 am, teams finish tasks Leg 3 ends, 3 to 7 am, 12 hour pit stop. Leg 4 starts 3 to 7 pm, teams drive to Anniston, AL.

But we have the first teams arrivng in Huntsville around midnight: "The first teams did not arrive until about midnight and the last team came in around 4-5 a.m. "
What's been bothering me is that "the last team came in around 4-5a.m." describes a single team and not a bus of teams -- and the Godlewski's are still missing! Are there 3 buses and only one team on the last one?
-
And, Slowhatch, don't forget that we have a definite on Old Faithful too.
I left out NO as well. First the memory goes, then the good looks... ^/^
Can we agree that Dennis (http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth/lookingatearth/h2005_dennis.html) was the reason racers were shoved into buses rather than planes or SUVs, or could there be another reason?
-
Chateau,
The weather delay makes a lot of sense. Hurricane Dennis moved straight up Alabama on Sunday, July 10 as a tropical storm and there were tornado warnings all over the area. If they were scheduled to go to Huntsville that day they wouldn't have been allowed.
-
Just found this on Jokers:
The Charleston, SC newpaper today gave a few clue's about the reports earlier this summer that contestants were seen in nearby Mt. Pleasant. The report says that 5 families took the same flight on Independance Air from Washington's Dulles airport to Charleston in July.
It appears that one of the clues is located at Charleston's Battery. There are also reports that families were seen running thru the Charleston Visitor's Bureau, complete with camera crews chasing after them. Those two locations are very close to each other. It doesn't make sense that they would find clues in each place. It also didn't appear that they stopped at the Visitor's Bureau; though I can't think of a reason they would be there other than to get a clue. We'll find out soon enough.
As to the Mt. Pleasant connection: the local source said "no comment" to a question asking if the families were involved with shrimp boats. Mt. Pleasant is the area the shrimp boats go out from. If true, that might make for an interesting "aroma" as they travel on to their next destination!

Good article supsandalee
'Amazing Race' leg at Battery
BY PRENTISS FINDLAY
Of The Post and Courier Staff
The third leg of the popular reality show "The Amazing Race: Family Edition" is coming to The Battery when the show airs at 9 p.m. Tuesday on local CBS affiliate WCSC-TV, according to a well-placed source.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Charleston is featured in the Tuesday episode of the eighth edition of the Emmy Award-winning reality show. Typically, the show's route and details of the competition are a highly guarded secret.
"They were around The Battery, which is where they had to go to find one of their clues," the source said. As to a rumor that "The Amazing Race: Family Edition" involved local shrimp boats, the source said, "No comment."
Others were willing to speak on the record about the show. Independence Air spokesman Rick DeLisi said the airline flew five families participating in the reality show from Washington's Dulles airport to Charleston International Airport in July.
"Five of the eight teams chose to fly with us," DeLisi said. "And ultimately they went to Charleston. We're not sure what they did or how much time they spent in Charleston. We were only privy to the details of what was going to happen at our location."
Perrin Lawson, deputy director of the Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau, said competing families raced through the CVB during filming of the show in July.
"They literally just ran through the building. It was with the camera crews chasing after them. From what I get from our people, they said it was kind of mayhem and nobody really stopped to ask any questions or anything. They just ran through the building and that was it," Lawson said.

Chateau, if we have a 24 hour weather delay the audience will never know it since the shows are always presented as if there are no delays and that all rest stops are only 12 hours. But with problems with families it may be that there was a 36 hour pit stop (they were camping out after all) on the Middleburg battlefield. Or they may have had word on Hurricane Dennis and just added another 24 hours to the pit stop. Then they would be arriving at IAD between 1 and 3AM Monday morning, July 11. Then arriving in Charlestown at 10AM to do the DIRTY or CLEAN Detour. Finish up in time to take the two buses to Huntsville leaving at 3PM and 6PM.
They arrive in Huntsville between midnight and 4AM, Tuesday, July 12. According to the Huntsville Times story found here:
http://www.al.com/entertainment/huntsville...4210.xml&coll=1
the teams complete their tasks early in the morning in order to have 12 hour pit stop at the Marriott Hotel and then supposedly leave later in the afternoon for Taladega, Alabama via SUV.
There seems now to be only two tasks. (l) the Centrifuge in the Aviation Challenge building. This could be ROADBLOCK. But if it is a roadblock why are two team members in the capsule together?? and (2) after going through the Rocket Park maze they must locate a computer in the Space Museum and complete some AOL sponsored task which tells them how to get to the pit stop at the Astrotrek Building.
Question. Do you think that the Space Camp would be open between midnight and 5AM so that teams could complete tasks in time to have their 12 hour rest stop and leave before sundown later on Tuesday, July 12??
Another note: if Hurricane Dennis did actually come through on July10-11 it sure would help to make that jeep contest a real quagmire!!

Look how close the offices of the Visitors Bureau are to the place where the Linzs got off their shrimp boat (Maritime Center)
CACVB Executive Offices

The Battery is also known as White Point Gardens and is about 3 km away.

GMan, That's my best guess.

Great job on the Charleston Maritime Center ! also the {**} "Independence Air" line tickets ! Love the " dirty or clean idea " :nods: !
GMAN: Since there are no shots of the Godlewskis do you think we could have our first Fast Forward??
I like this idea but whats bothering me is how do the Godlewski's get to the pitstop ? Would they just bus or fly ? Not one shot of the Godlewski's in the vidcaps ..also I watched CBS sports all day but the only pip promos that I caought were for S11 _-^ .
Also not for nothing why are there 8 SUV's waiting at the Space Camp ? Is there always a spare on hand incase something goes wrong with one of the SUV's ? or is it for producion purposes ?

I was wondering if Leg 3 might be the first non-elimination leg too. I know in the past that NELs have been combined with FFs, could this be too early for either? Is there there one more NEL this time (since we have only 10 teams). Didn't Phil say 7 elimination legs, which would mean how many NELs? Am I asking too many questions? :)

Been checking up on Hurricane Dennis. It made landfall in the Florida Panhandle at 2:25PM on Sunday, July 10. By 4:00AM Monday, July 11, now a tropical depression, it was centered almost directly over Huntsville, AL. TAR producers must have had advanced notice of the storm but information on where it was headed after landfall may have been sketchy. If the producers had originally planned to fly from IAD to CHS, on Sunday Morning, July 10 and then on to Huntsville, AL that evening they may have decided to hold things up and added a 24 hours to the pit stop in Middleburg, VA (no problem with hotels since they obviously were camping out again)
This would make the itinerary and time line developed by Chateau to make more sense.
Idea on why no GODLEWSKI SISTERS. They probably would be on the first Independence Air flight from IAD to CHS; they arrived at Middleburg pitstop third not far behind the Weavers. Maybe they got to the CCandVB first, received clue to proceed to the Battery where clue for the DETOUR (Dirty or Clean) was located along with THE FAST FORWARD. FF could have something to do with the fact that it was from here that the Rebels first shelled Fort Sumter which began the War Between the States. Then they might have gotten on an earlier bus to Huntsville and when they arrived proceeded directly to the pit stop at the Astrotrak Building.
With a shortened itinerary, the FF may come up in Third Episode. And in previous TARs, the actual FF has never been shown in advance and the teams who actually do the FF get very little face time in the previews. So all the hints are there that there will be a FF in this ep. But there will not be a NEL this EP since it has already been announced that the next family to to be eliminated from TAR will be on TES on Wednesday morning.

I'm not going for it this time! :)*

Sorry to Butt in but ever since the only 2 FF rule has started the first FF has been the Final Seven teams (CC, LB, and RD all got the first FF in the final seven). And Plus i dont know about AR5 but every time there was a FF they said something about it in the previews i know EVERY TIME aside from the time CC got it, i did not see any commercials and such so i dont know. Sorry but i am going with no FF.
Maybe they are just not in the previews, there are four teams on the second bus, that means there must also be 4 on the first otherwise there would be three on the second so the girls are on a bus. Maybe they get eliminated who knows, i think you all overthink to much.
And someone said the "yellow shirt" getting on a bus was one of the sisters, now i cant see the preview i only see the vid caps and that cap is not shown, but i know one of the Bransons (Beth) is wearing a yellow shirt when seh gets out of the van so it might even be her??
-
I never corrected that ..she is a Bransen sister ,sorry about that .
By the way I like reading your opinions never0102 !!

I Don't Kiss, I Make Out!" -- Teams are sent on a journey to a mystery location where they must perform a challenge that is out of this world, on the Amazing Race: Family Edition, Tuesday, October 11 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Phil Keoghan is the host of the series.

Tensions mount at the airport when families show signs of wear and tear and biting words are exchanged. One racer turns a cumbersome task into playtime, goofing off and annoying her family in the process. After many failed attempts at a task and with no end in sight, elimination seems imminent for one family.
-
No hint is there of how the teams get from the Charleston Airport down to the Visitors Center. Do they go by cab? That would be a neat trick to get six people in one cab (along with the driver). They do pick up SUV's at the Huntsville Visitors Center (they have a lot of driving to do, and will use them the next day to head toward Taladega and even on perhaps to New Orleans.) But what mode of travel do they do around Charleston?
I don't recall any specific mention of how many teams are on each bus, just that two buses left at 6PM and 9PM, so it is conceivable that the girls could have caught an earlier bus. Or as happened in TAR6 (I think it was) the team who took the fast forward still ended up on the same bus as the others but after it arrived at the destination city, the team went directly to the pit stop and did not have to do the Detour or Roadblock. Just my muddled memory, that is all.
-
Hey, GMan! Are those bus departure times for real?
I have always just been estimating them based on the Huntsville arrival time(s) and about 11 hours for the trip.
Also, they could have had vehicles waiting at the airport.

The Sisters or little Carissa?? We know its not Megan of the Linz, and prolly not the Bansons, and prolly not the Weavers

Aiello's and car trouble. But iddoesnt lead to elimination just puts them on the second bus, and then maybe they still get eliminated.

Chateau: I'm looking through my notes to find the reference to the two buses from Charleston to Huntsville, but just have the note that two buses were used one leaving at 3PM and the other at 6PM and the trip took 9 hours. Can't find the actual post, but will look some more.
In the meantime I found this post on Blows from Sept. 2:
confirmed location/pit stop of TAR 8"
A friend of mine is starting a new internship with the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center in the pulic relation department. The past summer she was asked to come in one night for an event, which turned out to be the filming of The Amazing Race. She met the teams and the shows crew. So I know for a fact that this is a stop on the race route.
This would confirm your contention that the event at the NASA Space Camp was actually filmed during the wee hours of the morning (one night for an event) so that the teams would be leaving (as we have shots of) for the Marriott Hotel in the early daylight hours of the morning. This also makes sense since during the day (Monday) the camp area would be awash in staff and campers. All this late night activity must be takiing a toll on the Gaghan kids!!
Here is another post from TVoP which again confirms the late night filming at NASA:
Jul 12, 2005 @ 08:46 AM

I'm going to be good and not say where the racers are (I promised Mr. Ripley68), but I just had to comment. They filmed at a local attractions last night (and have to finish this afternoon). They did not put any signs or clues out until the racers were very close. They are leaving this afternoon and there are no marked cars and the clue box has been removed until they are ready to leave, and then I guess they'll put it back out. So people seeing clue boxes around Toronto for days would not happen. The producers are very careful to keep those things out only as long as necessary. I only saw them setting up for the "challenge." I have no idea what it was (neither did the staff of the attraction) and saw some production crews and security. Right now (8:50 AM central time) the production trucks are out front of a local hotel). I didn't see any racers or Phil (dammit). Mr. Ripley68 asked if I wanted him to set me up with Phil. Nah, I just want to see him!

that two buses were used one leaving at 3PM and the other at 6PM and the trip took 9 hours.
I think I posted that in Sucks a while back. |( I can't remember how I got the 9 hours because now when I run the to/from on Google Maps it comes back 11 hours plus.
The scenario I am currently believing is that the two buses came (together or separately) as reported just before midnight (first bus). And then, they made the teams wait individual amounts of time that correspond with when they had finished the last task in Charleston. The logic I am trying to scape together here is that (because of Dennis) TPTB decided to round up the teams and ship them to Huntsville as a unit and then let them go according to where they stood in Charleston.
Because, didn't some article say that the SUVs left the Huntsville visitor center between 1 and 5 am? You know, individually, not as a mass of eight. Or, it could be two masses of 4 teams with the first four at 1 am and the last 4 at 5 am. :unde:

This is the article:
"The teams were expected to arrive at the Space & Rocket Center sometime in the afternoon of July 11th but were delayed because of weather conditions. The first teams did not arrive until about midnight and the last team came in around 4-5 a.m."
What still bugs me is that the last team came in around 4-5 a.m. describes a single team and I don't know how that is if they arrived on two buses.

'Amazing Race' makes pit stop at Space Center
About midnight Monday, with Hurricane Dennis' last breath soaking Huntsville, there was a flurry of activity at the Huntsville-Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau at 500 Church St.
Between midnight and 4 a.m., one by one, a fleet of eight to 10 GMC Yukons rolled out of the parking lot and sloshed down Interstate 565, got off at exit 15 and headed toward the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
The popular reality show zipped into town Monday night and, after a series of challenges involving the Aviation Challenge centrifuge and a computer station at the Space Center, host Phil Keoghan counted off the contestants - "You're first, you're second. ..." Then, after a much-needed rest at the Huntsville Marriott, the teams packed up Tuesday afternoon and headed to Talladega.

NASA DISSES 'AMAZING' DEAL
By DON KAPLAN
"Racers" trained like astronauts for the competition.
July 14, 2005 -- OFFICIALS at cash-strapped NASA refused to sign $10 million confidentiality agreements with CBS' "Amazing Race" when the show passed through one of its facilities in the deep South earlier this week.
A fleet of SUVs driven by contestants in the eighth installment of "Race" rumbled through the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala., Monday night.
There, the racers were pitted against each other in challenges that utilized several of the astronaut-training devices, including a centrifuge that simulates the intense pressure of extra gravity during a rocket launch, according to an Alabama newspaper report.
But officials at the space center refused to sign the standard confidentiality agreements — and were tight-lipped yesterday about details of what took place when the show touched down in their neighborhood.
Earlier, the "Amazing" racers had arrived at the Huntsville-Madison County convention center on two buses and jumped into the SUVs, group by group.
All of them were drenched by the remnants of Hurricane Dennis and spent the night in a local Marriott.
"Race" reportedly started filming last Thursday with 11 teams. By the time the race reached the Alabama town — whose inhabitants work mostly for the military or NASA — one team had already been eliminated.

I guess I don't need to be quiet anymore. The reason the USSRC didn't sign the agreement is because they have about 175 employees right now and it would be impossible to keep them all quiet and hold the center responsible for 1 stupid loud mouthed minor who is just working a part-time temporary job for the summer. It kind of ticks me off that the thing I have the closest ties to (no, I don't work there) so far has the biggest spoiler. At least the higher ups kept their mouths shut.
I have to say I was trying really hard to see the teams, I missed the last team by about 40 minutes. Locals would have seen them any time from 12 - 4 pm on Tuesday afternoon. I thought they were driving suburbans, but I didn't see any big cars with camera crews.
I'm also glad that the world will see Alabam has more to offer than rednecks and cotton.

Hi everyone :<(
I have been so busy this summer, just now getting a chance to get caught up on RTV.
I was doing a bit of looking for that darned mission/adobe/pueblo style building. I came across a house for sale in Scottsdale, AZ. There is a picture of a stable, that is "similar" to the mystery structure. Maybe puddin or banzai can put them side by side in a post. Now, I know it isn't exactly what we are looking for, but possibly a stable of some type near the border. I liked the idea that it could be from the movie set in that area, where alot of westerns were filmed.
Hope this helps a teeny bit! :tada:
Can't seem to get the attachment to work??? Help
I will try to PM puddin with it???
-
I wonder if Phil will give us any hint of the delays due to Hurricane Dennis in tonight's voice overs???
The teams may have been planning to fly to Huntsville the afternoon of July 11, do the Space Camp bit and then have a usual overnight pit stop at the Marriott Hotel. But this was changed when airlines were cancelling flights so TPTB hired two buses which then were scheduled to leave at the times that the two original airline flights left. A chartered bus probably did the trip quicker (9 hours) than a regularly scheduled trip with numerous stops (11 hours). But if some teams did not arrive at NASA until 5AM, even if they completed the two tasks quickly, they probably wouldn't be leaving Tuesday afternoon until possibly 7 or 8PM, and there is a note that the teams had all left by 4:30PM.
Delta Airlines had flights leaving CHS for HSV at 12:47PM and 3:47PM arriving at 3:36PM and 7:15PM via connecting flights in ATL (no direct flights). So it MAY have been that teams were supposed to get on these two flights (6 people a team means a lot of tickets for each flight) but due to Dennis the flights were cancelled so TPTB chartered two buses leaving CHS with the same three-hour difference.(Another pair of flights via Delta coulld have left at 2:09PM and 5:18PM; again with a three hour difference.) Of course, all of this is just speculation but would account for why the two buses would leave three hours apart.
Still no idea where the missing girls are - perhaps they had such a good time with the soldiers in Middleburg they missed the morning flights???
-
Cancelled flights, excellent idea GMan!

Here, maybe the last time (5 am) was for the eliminated team and so the departure times for the next leg are not so bad. Assuming that he 2nd to last team arrived a couple hours ahead of 5 am.
-
I think you are right GMan! From BTS (http://www.bts.gov/programs/airline_information/airline_ontime_statistics/) I am finding cancelled flights (ATL to HSV) on July 11th.

It is very conceivable that at least one team got lost driving from the Visitors Center to the NASA Space Camp knowing how well these teams read maps and follow simple directions. Remember it is now the wee hours of the morning, it is dark, and it is raining and these people have no idea where they are. (I wonder if the team that didn't know that Pennsylvania was a state also didn't know that Alabama was one also.??)The arrival times between midnight and 5AM are at the Space Center not on their arrival at the Visitors Center where they picked up their SUV's. So one of the teams on the second bus arriving at 3AM at the Visitors Center could very well have gotten lost until 5AM. Now who gets lost? The Aiellos? The Paolos? Both not known for their map reading ability.

You know if the Weavers do make it through one more episode it would be kind of cruel to have them do something at the Talledega speedway.

Okay, yes it's Tommy. But remember I got Nick and Alex mixed up. Tommy's the one with the longest burns. Nick and Alex's are short. I thought one was shorter than the other but who knows when it comes down to a blurry 1/4".

thanks Chateau , I'll take a guess and say its Tommy {l{

I havent watched them all yet but Carissa LOST a pack with all the familys cash ,luckily mom found it at Borders bookstore at the airport .

FOR THE RECORD:
At the Muddy course, NINE Jeeps are lined up at the Start Line. So the pattern continues:
EP 1 - 11 SUV's in the Brooklyn Bridge Parking Lot
EP 2 - 10 Stretchers and Orderlies lined up on the Battlefield
EP 3 - 9 Jeeps lined up at the Muddy run.
Why?
Some other interesting sights:
The teams on the first Independence Air flight had to check their backpacks (nobody is seen with one on getting on the plane) IAir flies small 50-seat reagional jets.
The teams on the USAir and United Flight carried their gear on board.
Later when teams are running around NASA Space and Rocket Center, all of them are now carrying, in addition to their backpacks, all of their camping gear. I guess the producers shipped it all down for them since they never had any of that gear in Charleston, SC.
All the boarding passes were issued by the SAME machine whether the flights were on IAir, United, or USAirlines.
The closeup of numbers being pulled off at the centrifuge was filmed afterwards with the same hand pulling off each number.(Hiding No. 9??)
Everyone kept the same order after arriving in Huntsville except the Aiellos. They got off the second bus in second place, but ended up getting off the centrifuge in last place. People have been saying (TES, for example) that they lost the leg because of getting stuck in the mud. But they were on equal footing with three other teams on the bus to Huntsville. They lost time getting from the bus to the NASA site and arrived last at the centrifuge. By the bye, the Centrifuge was the buncher of all bunches. Everyone finished the race in the same order that they finished the centrifuge.
-
All the boarding passes were issued by the SAME machine whether the flights were on IAir, United, or USAirlines
This is typical TAR. They often recycle those boarding pass shots w/o regard to which team was getting the passes.
But, keep it up GMan. They may slip up somewhere.
-
I'm still a little pissed about the Aiello's ,they must have known that being last there
was a virtual guarantee to be last at the mat ,I hated how they had to wait to do the G- force ride ..I feel that the bus-herding did them in ..if they had had the option to drive to Huntsville ,it may have turned out different ,I'll miss them ]**] .
Anyway ...I love the Bransens ,I hope pops can hang in there ..and I must confess that the Paolo's are growing on me *8/..

http://cgi.cbs.com/vplayer/timeplay.pl?type=wmv&id=16020
they said they had no idea of were they were going because the clue said " a mystery location " they then thought Atlanta but they bus just shot by there , they said it was so hot on the bus they couldn't sleep ..and were hungry . Mom said that they get to the bus at 1:30 pm but couldn't board the bus untill 5:00 pm ..they thought they could go get cleaned up because they were covered in shrimp & mud but didn't , she thought the day was over and they would go to a hotel ....she called it the bus to nowhere ..the last few hours they were all having a ball singing and cutting on each other a " brew -haha" but , they were all hot , tired , hungry and it was almost midnight and some of them were getting ansy because they needed to take medication and they kids were getting cranky .Then they talk about the Weavers breaking down & snapping " they were bouncing off the walls , they looked like a bunch of crazy people " . Mom Paolo felt bad for them but not the kid ..he says they signed up for it , this is what you get , he told them to shut -up because he was sick of them complaining " it sucks but oh well , get over it "
The Aiello's blame the Mud-Bog on there losss because they missed the 1st bus .. thats what they say did them in .
Oh and as usual Phils Diary wont play for me ..it cuts off to Survivor Guatamala intro (%#

so who annoys her family? Mama Paolo?

CBS =BS Hype .. raising the BS flag banzai .. they never showed who said the title either )< , probably bone Linz kissin the shrimp , it would have given us 25 points in the MW game ]*]
-
They probably edited something completely out, something they've done in the past (example: although I don't have access to the video, I seem to recall Phil stating that those teams completing the mudbogging would be driven back to Charleston in "monster trucks"), and then didn't co-ordinate with the website folk. Either way, we'll probably never know unless the racers blab.
Misc. trivia: I was curious why they spun the racers around at 3.2G (why not 3 or 4?). It turns out to be the setting used to simulate shuttle launches (here (http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2003/07feb_stronggravity.htm), third paragraph).

My guess was that the title came during the conversation between Rolly and Hunter, it's the sort of thing teenage boys would talk about, and compare. We saw them talking, but didn't hear much of what they said.
Darn, I would have gotten MW points too, had it been true. Nothing in the Insider videos, eh?

No rmax not a thing in the insider clips as well as nothing about " one racer annoys her family ..."
Such BS !! )<

They say that recycling is good for the environment. Compare the vidcap of the teams taking off from "Dulles" to the GoogleEarth snapshot of LAX. Any bets on whether MSY (New Orleans) will resemble LAX as well?

:gman: Nice Catch Slowhatch!!

That's funny. I've flown MSY many times so I'll know if it is bogus footage.

Hi Everyone - new here to posting...
I haven't read this entire thread today, but I do recall that one of the Linz brothers spoke the title while he was pulling heads off shrimp. It was right around the time that he looked like he was going to kiss one - and it grossed his sister out!

Hi KC,
That's what I had suspected but I never actually heard him say it. Do you have an inside source to share?! (::)
