Previously on TAR, 10 teams flew from Osaka to Bali, Indonesia! At the Drivers' Seat, Jon & Ana distributed work and played mind games using the Express Pass and leaving the least amount to themselves as well. The fallout was enormous! Scott & Lori pulled ahead which made Melinda and Alyssa taking a second glance at them. Brett & Mark had taxi troubles 43 minutes in the wrong direction. Jon & Ana won the leg while Bernie & Carrigain couldn't recover quick enough. Coming up tonight, the racers are pushed to their limits and a live double U-turn vote.

Locals invited teams for a homestay over the course of the Pit Stop.

They are explaining their destination to the taxi driver and Jon mentions making some tough decisions and those decisions may haunt them. Ana talks about her childbirth scare and how it solidified their couplehood.

Carson & Jack leave in 2nd at around 5:40. Scott & Lori depart 3rd a minute behind them.

Scott & Lori describe their weight loss journey prior to the race. Scott feel they are in a good position and assume nobody would do anything to hurt their race.

Jon & Ana reach the hours of operation at the monkey sanctuary. Melinda & Erika leave in 4th at 5:57. They want to let everyone else battle it out. Alyssa & Josiah leave 5th at 6 sharp. Alyssa is excited to make up some spots today. "Go crazy, go bananas." - Josiah

Han & Holden are leaving at 6:01 AM and want to be threats. Brett & Mark leave in 7th floating in the middle. Nick & Mike leave in 8th while Nick having a swollen eye from a stray rice grain. Jeff 2x leave last hope taxi chaos will push some teams behind.

Carson & Jack arrive and meet up with Jon & Ana. DnD thank Jon & Ana for saving them at the RB. Scott & Lori also arrive and meet with Jon & Ana getting into a debate into Jon & Ana's strategy behind the Drivers' Seat. They want to push it into the past and want to move forward with them.

Melinda & Erika see monkeys running around as they arrive right next to everyone else. "We're equalized, baby!" - Nick.

They are confident they aren't heading home today - famous words.

In Coconuts, teams must use a bike to deliver and stack 60 coconuts to a beach cafe to receive their next clue. In Coral, teams must attach five species of coral to a metal reef star and scuba out into the sea and plant them into the ocean to receive their next clue.

H&H and Vegas both choose Coral. DnD and New Yorkers arrive with Nick & Mike do coconuts. Carson & Jack choose Coral because they wanted to go swimming. Alyssa & Josiah are hauling coconuts. "We're going to go coconuts." - Josiah. Mel & Erika do the coconuts as well. Jon & Ana first do the coconuts with Jeff 2x following right behind their choice as well.

Nick & Mike are at the bikes as well as Han & Holden. "How the haell are we gonna load this?" - Mike.

Jon & Ana arrive at the corals and start the tying.

Alyssa & Josiah are stacking coconuts on the bikes and are figuring out how to go as few trips as possible. Mel & Erika and Jeff 2x come in from behind to the coconuts. Nick & Mike's bike falls over making a small duststorm.

Alyssa & Josiah head off while Nick & Mike are having trouble walking the bike. Alyssa see some coconuts are falling off as New Yorkers pass. Jon & Ana call for a check and it's unapproved. Carson see Jon & Ana are flustered and it was apparent to DnD they didn't know what they were doing.

Nick & Mike arrive at the cafe. They must unload the coconuts NEXT TO the rack first before stacking all of them. Nick & Mike rush off as Alyssa & Josiah see one coconut fell - only delivering 29. Mel & Erika are pushing together the coconuts to walk them to the cafe on the bikes. Han & Holden are confused by the directions to the cafe as Alyssa & Josiah checkpoint them. Scott & Lori making progress. Mel & Erika are being dysfunctional tossing the coconuts over.

Meanwhile, Jon & Ana call for another check and Jon realizes they have to be more detailed with the textures. Carson & Jack want to call the judge just in case. Brett & Mark doing a bit of progress as Ana is course correcting.

Alyssa & Josiah are going as slow as they can to not drop any as Jeff 2x scurry. Erika says Melinda can feel pressured to not perform as fast of a level as everyone else, but it's important for them to do stuff well.

Carson & Jack and Brett & Mark call for a check and are approved. They are heading off into the ocean and must go beyond the orange buoy to host the coral hexagons.

Carson & Jack hope they can keep their 1st at the RB. Brett & Mark are feeling good about themselves. Melinda & Erika, meanwhile, is trying to get the coconuts off the stems.

Jon & Ana find a specific coral and start calling for a check. "That was it!" - Ana. They are approved.

Melinda & Erika, Scott & Lori, and Alyssa & Josiah meandering and messing around with the coconuts. Alyssa & Josiah call for a check and receive a receipt and must return back to the coconut truck to receive their next clue. This is way more strenuous than the corals.

Ana reveals her biggest fear is the ocean after a drowning incident as a child. It's overwhelming for her and the coral rehab mission is a no-go.

Meanwhile, Alyssa & Josiah are off the Detour in 3rd as Han & Holden are still bike-organizing. Jeff 2x are shaking off the coconuts from the stems and feel in their element as workhorse back home.

Ana faced a big fear and are finished with it. Scott & Lori finish the coconuts as well as Jeff 2x. Pops & Jeff are off in 4th while S&L are going to the corals. Mel & Erika and Han & Holden making steady progress on the coconut stacking. Scott & Lori arrive at the corals while Jon & Ana are now at the coconuts. Erika goes on to explain what to do to Jon & Ana. Jon & Ana are having a communication breakdown with Ana holding the bike with Jon making the coconuts fall over.

Nick is exhausted from the heat and need a few deep breaths. Han is deliberately getting the coconuts done and receive their receipt to take back. Mel & Erika are ready to stack. Jon & Ana deliver 16 coconuts.

DnD arrive at the ROADBLOCK: Who wants to meet their match? One team member must choose a board and paddle out into the ocean to find a surfer with an identical decal as their own selected board to receive their next clue.

Back to Scott & Lori, "You're like a surgical assistant in the ER." - Scott. Courtney & Jasmin need both of you stat! They call for a check and are unapproved. Jon & Ana are tired of this U-Turn BS and Han & Holden receive their next clue from the Detour. Jon is slamming coconuts on the ground and Nick & Mike get their receipt followed by Mel & Erika.

Jack is looking for a surfboard while Brett notices nuances between the prints. Mark and Carson hanging out under the umbrella saying this is like their own little gay beach. :funny:

Alyssa & Josiah come in from behind in 3rd to the RB as Josiah does the task. Brett finds the decal and immediately brings it back to the sand.

ROUTE INFO: Run to the next Pit Stop, Taksu Art Stage. Last team to arrive WILL be eliminated.

Jack returns to shore and is 2nd out. Brett sees the art stage is 30 minutes by foot from someone's map app directions. Both running to the Pit Stop now.

And... Brett & Mark arrive to a celebratory performance right behind them! They are TEAM NUMBER ONE and win $10,000!

Pops & Jeff arrive at the Pit Stop and are TEAM NUMBER FOUR. Mike finds the correct surfboard and is off in 6th. Mike is winded.

Mel & Erika arrive in 7th with Erika obligating herself to do it since her mom is exhausted.

Han & Holden are TEAM NUMBER FIVE!

Scott & Lori come in from behind in last and Scott paddles out into the surf. Jonathan is lying down on the surfboard with Ana trying to be supportive and strong from a distance. "When it doesn't feel like a celebration, it's a bummer."

Jonathan is taking breaks in between paddles and receives the clue. Jonathan pushes Ana away to set the surfboard back while Ana hugs Lori as they head off. Scott finishes the RB and are running right behind them. It's a foot race! Jon doesn't want Ana to push him to the brink of headache madness.

And... Jonathan & Ana are TEAM NUMBER EIGHT! Ana and Jon see they set their expectations too high and Jonathan is not envisioning this is how their race would be going.

Scott & Lori run in from behind and are the last team to arrive and have been eliminated. Scott starts to break down and hope their kids see they gave it their all and it's an adventure they will remember forever. They share a kiss before the end credits roll in and them enjoying the ocean views.

Jonathan at the end reminded me of Nick from Season 17, who just didn't care anymore in their last couple legs (You could practically see the disappointment in him when they caught a Non-Elimination)

The tweak with a Traitors style vote rather than an open discussion worked better though I still think private voting works best. At the very least in this instance, the vote added to the stress of Scott & Lori and Jonathan & Ana. Hearing the extra context about Ana's ectopic pregnancy does a bit to flesh her and Jonathan out, though I doubt a certain corner of the internet will care.

I don't like how it creates an emphasis on the discussion of a team's "social game". Also, having a voting U-Turn the leg immediately after the Driver's Seat just feels like forced drama. It's almost too heavy-handed. I would have preferred a Yield so it's not as much of a grueling penalty (two Detours in the hot sun). Or, letting a leg or two go by, changing countries and letting things develop further between teams before going to a U-Turn vote would have been more interesting IMO.

I like how the Roadblock allowed for the potential for placement changes (and thus, potential for a comeback), even though major shifts didn't actually materialize.

Scott & Lori were legitimately a strong team, and the others picked up on it enough to identify them as a threat. I'm not sure they could have done anything different. No reason to hang their heads, they ran the race well.

Also, RB was not "haystacky" enough. Placements shifts were very little during it or during travel for Pit Stop, and only between teams that were already close, there was no way for U-turned teams to catch-up, dooming them for the last places.
