It is fine to discuss a TAR moment or poor decision.
IT IS NOT OKAY TO BE RUDE/UNFRIENDLY/ or CRUEL to any of our TAR FAMILY RACERS!
Fine to discuss a poor moment...NOT OKAY to be Cruel in doing so.
RFF is the friendly group...so lets keep it that way!!

I feel like this could be really strange and stuff we haven’t seen on amazing race before in terms of pregame relationships? Tucker and Rubina are a current couple, Joseph and Taylor are exes but still friends, Joseph was a groomsman at Turner’s wedding, many people from the same seasons, many people that I think are good friends and I see on social media hanging out together.
I guess it could be interesting drama in terms of people taking things personally and ruining real relationships. But like I’m imagining Tucker staying behind at a task to help his girlfriend, or people getting in a big alliance to run the game.
-
I am not excited about these teams but hey I’ll never be upset about more amazing race
-
Good job ,guys ..
-
So is the starting line in Los Angeles or Detroit?

Teams flew in from LAX, so if there was a SL it was in Los Angeles

Why do I feel like the starting line might be at the BB house?

Definitely not going to be complaining about seeing The Netherlands again (birthplace of BVM!). Plus, Hoorn is a new location! :cheer: :conf:
It makes sense to visit The Netherlands in this season - considering Big Brother originated from there! :funny:

If they're doing the theme, might as well commit. It was still surprising that they never went to Borneo during 31.
-
Exhausting amount of BB26 teams. They should've just cast Rubina and Tucker as one team if they were going to cast both of them. Having them on two separate teams is dumb, in my opinion (that's an understatement, I feel like they're going to function as one team of four). Angela will surely bring the drama but, and I pre-face by saying that I have nothing against her personally, just Tv-wise, she was exhausting to watch on big brother.
Casting probably patting themselves on the back for getting the winners of the last 3 big brother seasons on the race but....I don't think that matters as far as fans watching. Sure, it'll help the marketing, but....Idk. As a big brother fan, it doesn't move me. Super subjective/opinion based on my part, just none of them were my favorites on their respective seasons. Clearly it mattered to casting since they broke the "big brother player and a loved one" theme to keep Taylor on the season, at least from what it sounds like.
The other teams I'm....pretty indifferent. I think that Izzy and paige will be a fun team at least.
Anyway, just needed to get that rant out of the way in the proper forum lol. Hopium that the rumored cast is at least partially wrong.
-
Even though I didn't watch the season, I heard the horror stories about Angela. Pretty much guaranteed they're going to paint her as a villain of the season.

I honestly thought BB26 was a pretty boring season lol. Surprised that casting seems to like it so much. It was blatantly obvious that CBS was going to bring back tucker for a future show. Chelsie, Rubina and Angela....Idk man. Maybe it's bias, I would've taken Quinn over all of them if they were gonna cast another bb26 person

Different strokes, I guess. I'm happy about Angela and Rubina being on this season. Both were two of my favorite houseguests that season. Chelsie . . . I can take or leave. She was a good player, but such a crappy person. But Quinn was worse than all of them. I'm glad that it looks like he's not on this season.
-
Having Taylor and Kyland as team but separating Tucker and Rubina in different teams are certainly interesting and inconsistent.
This is either gonna be boring bcs nobody wants to step in each other toes and we get a straight-forward season or a season with many little alliances bcs these teams know each other
Why dont they just do another All Stars or Unfinished Business man
-
Is this the most number of all-female teams in this season? At five? :waves:
-
Angela is the best casting decision of this cast.
That woman is Reality TV gold <3333333
I'm baffled that some of you supposed RTV superfans dislike her as a character lol
-
Hey Alexa, play "At Last" by Etta James
-

Yes! Other countries' versions have cast five before (Brazil's one season), and even more (one of Australia's seasons). But this is the American version's first time having five!
-
Can we just fast forward to season 39? That would be great.

She was a bad big brother player and otherwise was exhausting to watch. Like, did it make for good tv? Sure. I just personally watch big brother more for the strategy of it all and her lack of it made me so annoyed lol. Also I was rooting for Quinn so that surely played a part lol

Why no one from earlier seasons were cast? Interesting. I don’t watch BB US, but since it’s a long running show, they could have casted across, not limited to the recent ones.

Actually, Jen from BB8 and Libra from BB10 made it all the way to the finals, but got cut in that round. So they had some older seasons in mind.
Enzo's actually from the oldest season of the ones cast, being from BB12.

Would have been great to have them on. Noticed there’s a lot of Brother Teams present, 4. Too much of that type, but that’s just my opinion.

I’m curious as to how the route will go. The surprises we’re gonna get. Glad that we’re getting a new city in the Netherlands, since the country is where BB originated

Judging by the casting choices ,i think i have an inkling. I mean they did go to sri lanka when the twinnies were on 24 . They went to colombia when juan was on 36/35 ..They went to india with aparna in s 32
.jag has india routes? Enzo from italy
Lets look At that .
-
Its hard to read this cast. So many strong Teams .Been looking at the cast since yesterday, and i still cant predict a winner pick. I think it will be a foot race to most pitstops, even AT the end
-
I am not surprised if this season features all the countries that Big Brother is famous and popular at

Maybe they'll visit countries where Big Brother are currently airing or about to start airing?

Big Brother in the Philippines (Known as Pinoy Big Brother or PBB) is currently ongoing for their celebrities as housemates. Possible IF the Amazing Race might visit the Philippines again. :cheer:

If a m/m is the first boot, then am predicting that an m/m will win basing on only history .
S22 had a first mm boot, but was won by an mm
Australia 6 had a first mm boot and was won by mm
AmazingRace 32 had a first m/m boot and was won by mm.
AmazingRace canada 7 had fan voted fave jet and dave out first, only for a m/m to win the whole thing .
Odds are HiGh ..i tend to be a numbers guy ..2
Rare seasons that mm are first boots

Two legs in, and all five women's teams are alive, kicking, and holding strong? Nice showing, ladies! Keep delivering, TAR38!

No, sadly it seems that Angela and Lexi were the second team eliminated.
IDK if first elimination was double elimination, Enzo and his brother were eliminated at some point before the end of the first leg, that Turner/Megan and Angela/Lexi (and probably Tucker/Eric as a result) were all actually behind Taylor/Kyland, or what.
The fact that Enzo was active on Cameo and than Angela and her daughter have since been active on social media though I think is a pretty good indication they're the first two eliminatd.
I'm honestly just THRILLED that it seems like Angela and Lexi outlasted one team though given how entertaining I find Angela and the fact that I also think they're probably the biggest early boot fodder team we've had since like Jody and Shannon lmao.

I know its a non issue, but no guy is wearing shorts . Everyone is wearing long trousers. Is it cold or something? 36,35 had a variety of clothes. Its not like they are in a Conservative country

Sharon Tharp re: Jen as the most reputable source
I saw rumors of Libra from realitytv__fan on X, dunno where they got that
-
I'm gutted for Angela & Lexi. They would've been the stars of the season had they gone deep.
I'm just hoping it's not Kat & Alex out next, I've wanted Kat back on my TV screen eversince BB21 in 2019:( Thought she'd be on BB22 (AS2)
Tbh I hope Turner & Megan go out next?
-
So happy they go outside Prague this time
-
Very excited to hear that Leg 3 has been confirmed to take place in Kutna Hora! :cheer: :conf:
The city looked awesome from the little bits we saw of it in TAR Australia 1, so definitely very keen to see how a few leg there goes!
-
I’m sorry if this is not the correct place to ask, but I don’t really know where else to? What happened to Georgiapeach? I don’t really follow here so much and only check in sporadically, but I noticed I hadn’t seen her post for this season.
-
is this season just gonna be an interailing trip around Europe lol.
but go visit Slovakia whilst you’re there
-

At the very least they are giving us rare countries like Czech Republic and Hungary. Seriously, just over 20 years for Hungary.
-
Disappointed to see Hungary being showcased, and am worried for the queer racers' safety
-
Hungary was long overdue. Budapest is a stunning city, which the weather would've been nicer for them, but I'm glad they're visiting. Budapest is even more beautiful in nighttime. It's one of those cities. A night leg would've been awesome.
-
I'm never going to complain about seeing Hungary (and Budapest!) again, but is this seriously gunna be another TAR: Europe Edition? :funny:
-
Where are they going after this ?
There are direct trains to croatia, if they are keeping up with the inter train european route THEME .
But if not ,they could go to another continent
-

Not really. Big Brother's pretty much got popular franchises on every continent. Plenty of options.
-
I'm glad they're visiting Hungary for first time in 32 seasons. But I find it crazy that they're visiting Hungary under Viktor Orban's reign of terror.
-
First of all, i think its so cool. They are doing Europe by train (way to go TAR :conf:). The only thing iam sad, about is that they missed a great chance, to showcase Slovakia :groan:
-
I know, Bratislava was right there. Though at least we did get more of Czech Republic other than Prague.
-
Slovakia has had protests numbering in the tens of thousands against their pro-Russia government. Probably not the best time
-
I hope there is a Rubix cube solving task in Budapest!!!
-
I’m excited for this season (and every Amazing Race season always), and I’m all for the BB cast, as I’m a BB fan and I think it’ll give the show a ratings boost too. The only downside is, because BB is so popular, this season is becoming so spoiled on X, even pages I don’t follow, I’ll just scroll through and see who was booted so far (I usually only click on the locations spoilers on here and not the elimination spoilers). However, if this helps TAR get even better ratings, I’ll accept the heavy spoilers as a tradeoff for many more seasons.
-
I just don't want 39 to be All-Survivor...
Not sure the show can survive two seasons like that back to back.
-
I just don't want 39 to be All-Survivor...
Pretty sure Jeff doesn’t want that.
-

That wouldn't be his call, though. It'd be the former castaways' call if they wanted to do TAR.
-
I just don't want 39 to be All-Survivor...
Pretty sure Jeff doesn’t want that.
I thought Jeff (and Jesse Tannenbaum) just dont like when player go to other network (like for Traitors or DONDI), but Survivor and TAR have the same casting director, and on the same network, so i dont think Jeff would mind
-
I just don't want 39 to be All-Survivor...
Not sure the show can survive two seasons like that back to back.
The show has generally been pretty good about not doing 2 gimmick seasons in a row. With that magic number of 40 coming up, it makes a lot of sense to.have 39 be a normal season and then an All-Stars or All-Winners season for 40.
-
I just don't want 39 to be All-Survivor...
Not sure the show can survive two seasons like that back to back.
I mean TAR39 could air alongside Survivor 50 (if 38 is fall with Survivor 49)….
Also there’s something poetic about season 39 of TAR being the Survivor season.
-
I think Big Brother Theory is correct.
-

Wow croatia....This means new country albania is slowly emerging. Its an inter train european theme
-
Cool with Croatia, but I was just hoping for Zagreb. And then on a train to Beograd in Serbia :'(
-
I live 80km from Dubrovnik, if I only knew it in time they would come from Budapest i would go there 😭
-
Happy to see Dubrovik again, but they really need to move on to another continent soon...
-
route seems bit disappointing, 5 legs still in Europe and no new country, Slovakia as new country has been skipped once again, instead it has a bright chance to be visited this time as leg 4, but being bypass and straight to Hungary. If leg 6 still in Europe, it better be a new country like Albania, just south of Croatia. To be honest, the recent international version route and task seems more interesting, like the TAR Australia that is currently filming seems going to Nepal and Central Asia. Hope that US the original version can do better. A suggestion, Season 40 can be a season with whole new country that cover all 6 continents, for example:
Asia: Qatar
Oceania: Fiji, Palau, Vanuatu, Kiribati
Europe: Luxembourg
Africa: Ivory Cost, Togo, Benin
South America: Guyana
North America: El Salvador, Nicaragua
11 legs with final in US, just an example :welcome:

Slovakia as new country has been skipped once again
They've been rife with protests for the last while over their pro-Russian government. Unfortunately, it's not the time.
-
I'm not sure they're leaving Europe tbh, the fact this seems like it may be branded more as a "syndicated" version of the race and the obvious budget cuts the show has experienced.
-

If you look at the past 4 seasons, each has visited two continents (not counting a US Finale), and I honestly could see that being the direction the show is heading.
--TAR 34: Europe & Asia
--TAR 35: Europe & Asia
--TAR 36: North America & South America
--TAR 37: Europe & Asia
I feel like this season they may move south down to Africa, maybe with a penultimate leg in South America or Australia, before returning to the US.

Only 34 and 36! So the last two "standard" seasons were Europe & Asia with a US Finale!

Greece, albania and montenegro may close out the season 😬
i think this season was a last minute decision. The producers usually scout places for a long period . Visas etc .
.The cast for 39 may already have been Selected .
I wont be surprised if 39 films in may or april .
I think 39 was bumped
-
Keep an eye out for Podgorica
Preseason I was hoping for Albania, but if Montenegro is a new country I will also be happy.
-
I guess they will have to visit the cathedral at night ,to get there clue .Most people visit that place . Taskwise i dont know
-
It would be very exciting if Montenegro was confirmed as being our Leg 6 location - a new country! :cheer: :conf:
I love Europe (favorite continent), but they really need to get moving to another ASAP...
-
Honestly not sure how I feel with over half of the season in Europe. On one hand, these are countries (except the first) that only have 1 or 2 previous visits with a potential new country. On the other hand, I would like to see more continents as people will start comparing this to the COVID seasons.
-
Try to leave Europe challenge: impossible

He was wrong about nothing .He knew that they wouldnt leave Europe .i cant believe i 2nd guessed that they ,would not LEAVE Europe.
The back tracking to Romania is my only surprise .
I guess this is leg 8 .
Filming 4 legs per week ,would mean a winner next sunday .
-
I am excited about Romania.
-
At least Romania hasn't been visited since Season 14 but I'm kind of pissed off about this Europe-centric race. You Know Big Brother has countries that are not in Europe right?
-

There is no correlation with Big Brother countries. Phil didn't even bring up at the Starting Line that NL is the home of BB
-
I'm very excited to see Hungary and Romania again-- long-awaited. The show hasn't filmed in the Czech Republic in going on eight years now, either.
I'm under the belief that if the next four legs went to Kenya, Uzbekistan, Nepal, and Australia, people would still find reason to complain, so in the meantime, I'm excited to see this route as-is.
-
I forgot that TAR25 also spent 7 legs in Europe.
At least it's not like Filmed 35/Aired 36 where every country but one was the same language.
-

Well yeah if that were the case we would only have one leg in Africa, when we really need 178 legs in Africa

Oh right, Morocco. Lol
-
S6 had 6 legs in Europe I believe, including a megaleg in Hungary after production realized begging was illegal there.
-
At least Romania is another undervisited country that we get to see again?
Time to resign ourselves to the fact that 11 legs will take place in Europe this season I think...
-
A the three boys good dancers or have there not been any dance challenges. They seem to be at the front all the time .Maybe a romania dance experience will slow them down. I hav checked there dances and they are pretty difficult
-
Istanbul is right there .. Thy can't do Bulgaria back to back.. Trains to Istanbul are plenty .
Any Absence of the 3 MMs in the finale ,is like "not having ricky and ceasar in the finale of 36".
-

Probably not, anti-Erdogan protests are ramping up
-
They might as well do Poland ,if they are not going south of Europe! A switchback dance routine would be epic or standing as statues begging 4 money .
Either way, they are definitely heading north
-
I think they left romania already ..last time we got no sighting from bulgaria and dubai ..and bulgaria is a train ride away from romania
-
Mega legs happen over a short distance without flights. If it was indeed a KOR leg ,then bucharest is near bulgaria. WE got no pics from bulgaria last time.
It was very top secret and hard to get info ....
So see u guys in 4 days if its bulgaria .
-
So they're in Athens now. That's cool, Greece is still undervisited, but an all-Europe route is basically confirmed now.
-
I may seriously consider skipping this season. The BB theme was a huge turnoff and now its pretty much confirmed a 100% Europe route. What on earth was this show thinking.
-
What on earth was this show thinking.
Part of me wonders if this was originally planned to be a summer spin off (in the vein of BB OTT) and not TAR 38 airing in the fall alongside Survivor 49.

Oh albania,if i catch u..lol
-
Finally, they are putting on shorts .After many legs. In s 37 ,everyone put on shorts from the majority of the race .
-
I think the only reason why we stay in Europe. it's the fact that there was an earthquake in Asia.
-
Its going to be a final 4 ..imo .The 2nd leg in Greece mayb the penultimate leg .They may have been 3 legs in romanian.. They dont want all mm finale which has been neck and neck and neck since leg 6 ..
Am just guessing at this point . I dont think they will leave Europe ,after Greece .
-
I think the only reason why we stay in Europe. it's the fact that there was an earthquake in Asia.
TARAUS9 is filming now and they are 9 legs in Asia so far. That’s no excuse
-
So this season is The Amazing Race: Big Brother European Vacation tour!
-
I honestly do believe the show is on its last legs (no pun intended). I think a big reason why they're staying in Europe is simply budget, and the fact they cast a bunch of random BB cast members I think is a hail mary to try and get Big Brother fans possibly interested in the show.
I feel like 35 they were really hoping would "revive" the show and so they put in a decent amount of money into that season, and while it was a great season didn't pull in the viewership/ratings they were hoping. This current season is clearly on the lower end of the budget, as it seems like this Big Brother season will be as well.
-
Lol, they're already clear to film the next season, doing casting calls, and proceeding with airing this current season in the fall (which is more than CBS was offering this past year).
I remember when people on the internet thought TAR would be cancelled in Season 3.
As for people saying 'that's no excuse' in regards to an all-EU season, we have precedent for literally that for TAR33 and an all-CA/SA season in TAR36 which, even though it was COVID, still happened...and the show continued to film after it.
Absolutely no one in these threads has insight into whether or not there were production issues or, alternatively, contestant/crew visa issues over filming that prevented other countries from being used. And they won't unless production says/leaks that info. But instead, this thread is being used to complain that this is the end of the show and how could they do this to us, it's unfounded? Come on now. Not to mention, very few people have any idea of production costs. No one knows how much the show allocates to logistics. It's complete speculation that they simply can't because reasons.
If you didn't stop watching the last times the show shrunk the route, you're not going to stop now. The season is allegedly giving us new countries, we know it's giving us new cities (Kutna Hora is actually so exciting!). People are going to feel how they feel, but complaining about the route is so exhausting at this point. The show can do no right by some people unless it fits exactly into the mold they believe it must. Too bad. You're not going to enjoy the show, I guess.
I feel like 35 they were really hoping would "revive" the show and so they put in a decent amount of money into that season, and while it was a great season didn't pull in the viewership/ratings they were hoping.
And yet they still filmed TAR37 with more teams, on a circumnavigatory route, with more race mechanics to complicate the course, with more self-booked travel, and when they end up in the EU, likely more self-driving.
Every season, a very very very small amount of viewers jump the gun so hard on disliking it based on the most arbitrary speculation.
-
We'll see. For the record, the show got VERY close to being cancelled after seasons 4, 24 and especially 11. Season 12 more or less was advertised as the "last season" at the time, but than it ended up being such a hit it gave new life to the show.
Its posisble we'll get another season that revives the show like seasons 5 and 12 did.
It seems like instead of cancelling the show they've just cut the budget in a lot of ways, no way you can argue there hasn't been noticeable budget cuts in recent seasons. We'll see how sustainable this is.
Its kind of giving me BBCAN vibes where everybody is like "don't worry, no way they actually cancel it, they've raise the winnings even." Than suddenly... boom... cancelled.
-
It sounds like they've literally flown a plane two times this season lol, the budget cuts are very obvious.
A lot of the twists/game mechanics they've added don't cost them anything, if anything, to me that's more of signal they're grasping at straws to try to get more viewers whichever way possible.
Increasing the cast size would cost more but still the same number of legs because they've cut out NEL legs (They have one KOR leg each season still) so its not a huge cost increase really, just a way of rebranding themselves. Maybe the next budget cut will be going back to 11 teams again with no NEL.
-
As for people saying 'that's no excuse' in regards to an all-EU season, we have precedent for literally that for TAR33 and an all-CA/SA season in TAR36 which, even though it was COVID, still happened...and the show continued to film after it.
I think you're neglecting the elephant in the room - this is not a COVID season. The last time production did a single continent route out of their own volition was Season 8.
Every season, a very very very small amount of viewers jump the gun so hard on disliking it based on the most arbitrary speculation.
That's not what's happening though. People are seeing a race unfolding that, on the conservative end, has at least 8 confirmed legs in Europe, and at the liberal end, has a route that takes place entirely in Europe, to say nothing of any casting gripes. It is completely reasonable to expect people to be upset at what they are seeing, and to expect people to not complain is unreasonable.
-
Like I said: if people are coming into this expecting that the race needs to fit into their arbitrary box each time, they're always going to set themselves up to be disappointed, especially if they're looking at things without all the info. Whether or not it's a COVID season or not has little bearing on that; coming in with an expectation means that if it isn't to expectation, you're probably going to be disappointed.
The show is still fine if it's not exactly what I want. For some people, that's not enough. Nothing to be changed there; the show's just not for them anymore in my opinion, and that's okay too.
I mean, not for them, I guess, but that's their problem. lol
-
I think if the main premise and hook for the show is a "race around the world" competition and you didnt actually go around the world, people are bound to be dissapointed.
And we get it with the family edition and covid season, but with this one, theres no apparent reason why they didnt even bother to go to North Africa (like at least Morocco)
-
Alot is online, and alot is on the line with the teams
1.Abdin bros could be the 1st Arab muslim /to win show especially that they run during fasting.
2. We could have the first lesbians to win in izzy and paige.
3. The first dad/daughter team could win .
4 .The first sikhs on the show, and also the first sikhs to win
5 The first m/f friends to win .taylor /kyland
6 .Tucker could b the 1st bi mm team to win
Alot of first waiting to happen
-
The show definitely almost got canceled after season 4. The Emmy's saved it for one final attempt in season 5. Season 5 and then season 7 were great hits which re-launched the show. Then season 8 gave back all those gains with the awful family edition.
I don't know if it was close to being canceled after season 11, but for s12 the show received it's first significant budget cuts and also only ordered one season for that broadcast season instead of 2. Of course, the show's replacement, Viva Laughlin, bombed spectacularly and TAR was back in its Sunday slot by early November. And then CBS regretted not having a second season ordered because in spring 2008 the airwaves were a ghost town thanks to the writers strike. After that CBS left it alone for a long time. I think they realized it wasn't a huge hit but was fine enough.
I didn't hear rumors of being close to cancellation after s24. The show still was renewed for 2 seasons, but received additional budget slashing and CBS also started mandating the gimmick seasons like blind dating/social media.
I agree the show is winding down for reasons I stated in another thread. It's on the expensive side of reality shows. Reality shows are really getting gutted these days (realityblurred did a great piece on this). It doesn't make CBS money in longevity since it's not owned by them. Bertram is like 85+ years old. We're approaching season 40, and the ratings are still very middling. They keep trying to replace it, but they keep coming up with garbage like The Summit. The show is still fine for now and should have a few season left, but to pretend it's thriving seems disingenuous.
-
I never heard that either, but after Season 24 was when it got moved from Sunday, thus losing the post-NFL viewer boost/delays, to Friday nights (aka where networks put shows they want to die). It wasn't a popular season, so that was definitely a concerning sign from CBS.
This show has shown a lot of staying power, but I do agree its days look numbered.
-
Again, people on here said the show was on its last legs when it switched to the Friday timeslot. And then again for Sundays.
TAR has always, for what it is, come in at reasonable cost. Prize money aside, most viewers might be surprised that The Traitors, while being set at one location, likely has higher costs simply for celebrity signing rates. As to how expensive the show is and whether or not it stays on budget, again, literally none of us know. If it's managed this far AND not gone down to TARCAN levels of product placement, it seems, to me, like a non-starter.
I would much sooner believe that the show becomes untenable due to sociopolitical issues than the other reasons because, quite frankly, all the other reasons come out of the woodwork every season because people don't like the route or the teams or the boot order or the timeslot or the shift to only-spring or only-fall schedules or delayed casting or yada yada. It's the same argument we see for TARAUS every year too. The shows never do enough for the small number of ardent fans on RFF, and that always seems to be the bellwether for some reason...even though it's never been correct thus far.
-
TAR has always, for what it is, come in at reasonable cost.
Just for comparison, TAR 32 spent 2,000,000 TTD (USD 300,000) for the Trinidad and Tobago leg. (https://www.guardian.co.tt/news/the-amazing-race-spent-2m-employed-300-locals-while-filming-in-tt-6.2.1218576.130bafc28f) One third of that qualified for a tax credit from the government.
Each episode of Ghosts collectively pays its cast $1,300,000 (https://www.justjared.com/2024/09/10/ghosts-cast-salaries-revealed-all-10-stars-got-pay-raises-from-cbs/), and that's without production costs.
-
I think we need to stop b******* and complaining about this season, but it has not aired yet. I know you hate the Europe inspire root, but come on. Regard to countries that are barely visit by the race.
-
Ugh, no not Eric and Tucker :( They were doing so well. I was rooting for them. :(
-
Who said that tucker was out ..?
-

Whaaaaaaaat?! Tucker & Eric?! No!
Guess only Chelsie's left to rep it for BB26, and sadly, though I'm black like she is, I utterly despise the woman.

What I've been told here in the past is that this thread is specifically so that people can 'bitch, moan, and squeal' because people just gotta let it out. My argument is that it was purposely fostering negative discussion. I have no interest in stopping people from doing that, but it does open the floodgates to people who believe they're the authority on how TV is produced and how the viewers at large think and watch, and by and large, they're naive takes. The show has already filmed those legs; they're going to air. The best way they can make their disapproval heard is by simply not engaging with the topic. Instead, they're just fuelling the discussion, and nowadays, that's more important for the longevity of the show with those lumpy bits that they don't like in mind.
Really, they could just not keep interacting with the things they don't like...but then again, this thread is there to fuel that cycle. lol
Oh well. Every season, same conversation.

5 The first m/f friends to win .taylor /kyland
They would be the second pair of coed friends to win. How soon you forget Flo & Zach from TAR3. They were the first coed friends team to win.
Kyland & Taylor would be the first black friends team to win, considering that the other black teams to win have been either married (Chip & Kim and Uchenna & Joyce, the latter of whom are now divorced), sisters (Kisha & Jen), or brothers (Greg & John).
-
I would love to see a source that says The Traitors 'likely' has a higher budget than TAR. I think that is completely absurd. I am aware that NBC Universal pays the cast to appear, much more than the teams that don't win TAR. But there is zero chance the budget for traitors is anywhere near TAR.
-
Appearance fees are very much a thing, and unfortunately that would cut into their regular budget. It's undoubtedly a reason why TAR Australia's "celebrity" seasons can only rope in D-listers and visit 4 countries a season.
-
Excited to see Athens again! :conf: :cheer:
This pretty much confirms an all-Europe race now…

"“Their appearance fee is around $200k but depending on their contract and popularity, someone like Boston Rob will get as much as $300k.
“Lesser-known players still get paid well, they'll get roughly $75-100k,” the insider claimed."
At 23 players last season, that would be a minimum of $1,725,000 just for player salaries let alone all other production costs. That's just for the cast to show up. We know it's a fair bit higher than that.
They save costs by reusing the sets and challenges between international franchises (between U.S. and UK).

This is great. TAR will go many seasons above 40 as per Phil.

*Feelings*
I feel like tucker and eric were disqualified ,and not the usual elimination.
There were so many producers during that pianao task and there was only one piano at the time ,so they couldve been first
Many producers at one task almost signals "decision time "
Now am excited..i love a disqualified team like race to survive .
I wonder what "offences " would a tar contestant be disqualified

Thank you for that. That's a lot of money tied up in the cast. Even if you say cast plus prize money is 3 mil, for the race we'll say cast plus prize money is 1.1 mil. I have to believe the other costs of TAR more than make up the difference. So many flights, permits, security, challenge coordinators, etc. I did see something several years ago that rumored a race season to cost 10-12 mil, but take that with a grain of salt.

Even then, Season 34 visited three continents and “35” visited two continents. Season 34 had a leg in Iceland (part of that leg was technically in North America). Season “35” also visited Barbados and the Dominican Republic.
-
Welcome to TAR 38, Europe Edition Folks.... just when we get two seasons in a year after soooo long, we only get to see the american-look-alike continent...so bummed
-
My 2 cents are that they just think the BB cast aren't...idk skilled enough to handle a race around the world? But even so that's BS solely bc of S30 and 31 had Big Brother teams do very well, actually. Plus, I doubt CBS is giving them a ton of funding since they care about Survivor and BB more, and the costs to get a cast like they have...yeah, no. It's a shame, but the hope is that 39 will actually have a return to form and have an actual race around the world with a unique cast instead of "heehoo big brother please watch"
-
Am guessing they do switzerland 🇨🇭, be4 gong onto the finale
-
Considering the women's team slaughter that we had going on for three legs in a row, I'm stoked that the last one standing is in the F4!

I need Izzy and Paige to win like I need oxygen in my blood :'(

Do we know if any twists return this season? Driver’s Seat, U-Turn vote, Intersection etc
Surely with this cheap route they could at least add some extra things.
-
Maybe this season is a decoy for the REAL season 38?
While we here on RFF is focusing on the The Amazing Race: Big Brother Jet Lag Game Edition currently filming, the real season 38 is being film, with destinations like Kyrgyzstan, Fiji, Nepal, Suriname and Sao Tome and Principe.

Hope it's not marketed as a Big Brother season instead of an Amazing Race season. Just imagine this title: The Amazing Race Presents: Big Brother: European Excursion!

Well, I did predict either France or UK as the last stop before the US, lol. Based on easy travel connection.

Technically, no. Scotland is still considered part of the UK, so 33 spent three legs there.

Coming from Europe? It'll probably be somewhere on the East Coast. Or somewhere in CST. I'd only count on L.A. if they were coming from an Asian country.

Not unreasonable. If they leaned into Big Brother, they could taken them back to the house.
I'm looking forward to the season. Despite all-EU, the destinations are top-notch. Last time the show filmed in Paris was 7 years ago. Doesn't bother me one bit.

Having Taylor and Kyland as team but separating Tucker and Rubina in different teams are certainly interesting and inconsistent.
This is either gonna be boring bcs nobody wants to step in each other toes and we get a straight-forward season or a season with many little alliances bcs these teams know each other
Why dont they just do another All Stars or Unfinished Business man
They'll do All Stars for 40
-
I wonder if they gave them the day off. Surely if they left the pit stop 12 hours after checking in they'd have already landed at their final destination by now.
-
Either that or its a nighttime final leg similar to TAR 30 and 32.
-
This has to b a joke ...No sightings. NO NOTHING

I'm actually happy to see another NYC finale! At least it's not an LA finale! :funny:

At least 36’s subpar route had Philadelphia at the end. I was really hoping they’d go in a similar direction and have Boston as the final city.

Love Boston, but the race hasn't ended in NYC directly in 13 years. Are we overdone on it?
-
Boston was just a starting line 21 seasons ago back in 2010! We definitely are overdue for a Boston finale!

This will sound weird but I feel like this is the season TAR sold their soul
It doesn't sound weird because people here said it for the 'Reality Clash' season and for the 'Social Media' season and for the 'Blind Date' season and for the celebrity TARAUS seasons and for the TARCAN seasons after they stopped having international legs and for the TARCAN seasons when they stuck to four or five BC legs in a season.
Any time the race doesn't fit the mold that people are used to, it allegedly puts the show on its last legs...except it never does.
I recommend that if you don't like it based on the speculation, just don't watch. Every season when people say this because of the locations or the boot order or the cast in general or strong MM teams, they still end up commenting through the entire thing, so I never expect people to follow through on it, but I wouldn't suggest putting yourself through the rigor of being angry and disappointed at something in advance.
-
Really wasn't a fan of the cast to begin with (too many newer season people), and the one team I was most interested in happened to be first out. I also find it unfair Kyland and Taylor were allowed to team up while everyone else had to go on with a relative who hasn't done any show like this before. For that reason I hope one of the other two finalists win, though I agree it's time for a woman to win next season.
-
Boston was just a starting line 21 seasons ago back in 2010! We definitely are overdue for a Boston finale!
This is honestly why I don't mind them starting nearly every season in the LA area. Give other cities a time to shine with a full leg. I love NYC, but we are due for Boston.

It's the route that bothers me more than the cast (no covid excuse for it)

So they're bringing back the Hazard (only used in S19). And a task before the starting line.
Interesting to see how this works out.
-
The Hazard is one of the more random twists that they brought back. Also, not sure what it says about the upcoming season of Survivor that they revealed the TAR cast first (or the current season of BB).
-

Probably says that the BB players in this TAR season are recognizable draws to get people hype for it. BB27's ratings are solid this summer, so it's likely a good way to carry over the interest.
-
I have never been less excited for a season.
I do find it interesting they specifically called it a 'European adventure'. Trying to get in front of endless complaints from fans about the lack of travel, like season 36 in South/Central America.

I don't even get the point of the Hazard. It's basically one-person Speed Bump. Like what happens if you combine a Roadblock with a Speed Bump.
