Kent & Vyxsin (TAR18) say hi.

So awful to have an HOO in the middle of the leg but also makes me kind of lol???
So awful to have an HOO in the middle of the leg but also makes me kind of lol???
It's like old era TAR but for new era TAR, it just sucks majorly tbh especially with a U-Turn???
HOO, huh?
I heard that Detour as Wood or Cocaine :lol:I actually heard Wood or Toh Kay. :funny:
IN ALL THE PLACES IN ZIMBABWE WHY A HOTEL? (:;)
Gosh, the croquet Detour's editing is sooo boring.
Gosh, the croquet Detour's editing is sooo boring.
Culturally irrelevant, dumb, and boring. Agreed.
No U-Turn???
No U-Turn???
I heard someone say U-Turn ahead. But Phil didn't say anything.

Mabye surpise u turn
I can't fathom the sheer stupidity of this leg TBH. What are they playing at?
I have a feeling this will be a Zero-Hour Pit Stop or Keep on Racing leg, because of the leg design (HoO).
This leg seems like it's heading for a KOR finish...? Less than 10 mins left in the episode...
Oh my GOD the u-turn board is right next to Phil!
WHY?! (:;) (:;) (:;) :gaah: :gaah: :gaah:
If you ignore the fact TAR24 exists, this is absolutely the worst episode since 19.
Giving another team a free Express pass? :barf
If you ignore the fact TAR24 exists, this is absolutely the worst episode since 19.
Worse episode since that atrocity of a second Thailand leg.
This leg seemed awful just from reading this thread. I'm already over these 2 teams being top 2 over and over. Yawn.
The mid-leg hours of operation actually creates some drama this time :cheer:
The idea of having u-turn at the pit-stop is brillant :hearts:
Adds potential drama to the last place fighting :cheer:
tbh I kinda like this leg. there's a lot of drama and karma and express pass burned.
:peek
This cast is quite amazing and they are absolutely delivering. Probably the best cast since TAR17 (with the exception of 25's amazingness) for me.
But the race itself is completely falling apart.
They do legs like these and we wonder why they stop winning Emmys... :res:X
Good to see #MukuniVillage has a #paved road! @AmazingRace_CBS #RHAP #amazingrace #VictoriaFalls #knifesedgebridge #batokageorge #TAR1
If the U-Turn was placed where it was to "discourage it from being used", why have a U-Turn at all?
The croquet is a remnant of colonial era ZImbabwe (which had been a British colony, hence the costuming from late 19th century and the use of a specific hotel that fits into that motif.:spy: Thanks for the fun fact about croquet in Zimbabwe, schnauzer. Now the task seems a bit more concentrated than I had initially thought.
Edit: Bill Bartek of Team Guido just tweeted out the following:QuoteGood to see #MukuniVillage has a #paved road! @AmazingRace_CBS #RHAP #amazingrace #VictoriaFalls #knifesedgebridge #batokageorge #TAR1
I think TAR needs to work on the leg designs more. We don't have many chances left and if this is what TAR becomes, the show is a goner. :gaah:
If the U-Turn was placed where it was to "discourage it from being used", why have a U-Turn at all?
The same reason why TAR sometimes has a literally impossible Detour option on some detours; to force the teams to do otherwise. That really isn't hard to figure out. It's why the old "strip 'em of their cash" penalty for coming in last on a NEL was used, and then subsequently avoided in poor countries before being dropped completely as it was unseemly for teams to be begging for money in such places, which fits with the use of the orphanage for the U-Turn Board and the check-in mat in this leg.
I love the idea of locating u-turn at the pit-stop
It is great in certain aspect :
1) We will see how last place teams react to prevent potential last-place
2) Phil's attitude on the u-turn
3) Brutal to see the team get u-turned just before getting checked-in :yess:
The u-turn adds more point this leg because of a KOR setting instead of a NEL
So the effect of u-turn becomes more powerful to determine the result of the second half :yess:
Hope they will do this more in the future :hearts:
After rewatching the episode, I noticed some things.
The croquet detour was not mentioned as anything related to Zimbabwean culture. Maybe a brief description from Phil would make this somewhat better, but the detour was really imbalanced. Denise & JE arrived at the detour in last, yet they finished 3rd by doing the croquet detour. ChacAttack were doing fine on the other side of the detour, and they were the 3rd or 4th to start it, yet at the end of the episode, they weren't done with the detour yet. On a somewhat unrelated note, ChacAttack's reaction to Texas using the EP was :funny: for me. The detour imbalance is I think the only thing I didn't like from this episode. The episode with all the drama was really good! :funny:
Tanner & Josh gave a confessional before leaving for the detour. They said that their new plan was to give it to the team next to them, so I'm wondering if they'll be waiting at the pit stop for that one team. ???
On other confessionals of Justin & Diana and Tanner & Josh, both teams said that they'd use the U-turn on each other when they get the opportunity to on the next one. (Spoiler alert)Show contentI can't wait for the U-turn in India! :hearts:
I also thought that Logan & Chris weren't getting enough screentime, but I must've disregarded Logan's continuous blabbering on Chris. They seem to be working fine despite that though. :funny:
I still don't get the benefit of using U-turn which is placed right in front of pitstop. Eventhough you're second to last and you can see another team 20 seconds behind you, you can just make a quick run to the mat without wasting your U-turn, especially this early. Even you don't know where the other teams are, it doesn't matter, you already reach the pitstop.
I think this new placement of the U-turn is just for the team who'll be using it for personal reason or just to annoy their rival.
I'm tired with Tanner & Josh and Justin & Diana always getting big amount of airtime. Hopefully it's going to be more diverse with teams.

No, Phil said that they have to decide the team and Phil will help them to give the EP to that team.
Brenchel and Vanessa/Ralph>>>>>>x100000000 over the rivalry on 27.Well on TAR20, the other teams got involved too and took sides. Here, it seems no one else really cares lol
TAR20, even though the rivalry was there, at least the other teams were still there rather than the constant focus on them.
Aww this insider video makes me feel so bad for Justin & Diana. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltFVgB30Wm0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltFVgB30Wm0)
I can see why a lot of people are annoyed by the constant focus on the Green Team and Team Texas. That's probably why the editing is viewed as being awful. But there was one very good thing about the rivalry: Team Texas burning their Express Pass on the Roadblock instead of at the Detour and then finding out the Hours of Operation! That was funny to me!
Team Texas burning their Express Pass on the Roadblock instead of at the Detour and then finding out the Hours of Operation! That was funny to me!
I think Team Texas suffered a case of not being able to see the forest for the trees. They were so focused on getting rid of the Green Team that they didn't stop to think about when the best time would be to use the Express Pass! They looked too far ahead and paid the price for it.
The editing has been slowly falling by the seams beginning TAR25.
On TAR25/26...
-Not all teams are shown reading the clue when they get it
-Not all teams are shown departing the Pit Stop
-Not all teams are shown in airport scramble (they already get on the flight and it sucked)
-Not all teams are told of their placement upon checking in at the Pit Stop.
On 27 so far is is 100% worse because...
-It has all the problems above and more
-The editing is just so sloppy, you never feel like it's a proper Race. We would stay at a task for loads of minutes, then the minute a team gets to the next task, we get a lot of focus there, and all the other teams are just shown as "getting their clue" in the most basic way possible of just flashing their name with the CURRENTLY IN XTH PLACE subtitle.
-There is simply too much focus on the tasks rather than the competition. It is always more fun to see teams chasing after each other getting stuff rather than see them do a task.
And the thing that 100% sucks is that the Secret Scenes (more so this season than 25-26) have all scenes that could have been edited in for an amazing episode. A lot of the Secret Scenes are definitely good and would have helped the show. Full scenes such as teams getting lost, the reveal of a reason that eliminated a team, a team having a meltdown on an otherwise uninspired Detour are all on the Secret Scenes, and it really is mind-boggling that they would choose to omit those amazing scenes and keep terrible ones in.
So yes... TAR needs to step it up with editing. Even if the tasks aren't culturally relevant 100% of the time, the editing would really help! (See 24 Kuala Lumpur, arguably my favorite leg from that atrocity of a season... bad, culturally irrelevant tasks and some of the teams were total garbage but very fun editing and competition made it a good ep)
Speaking of this leg, ALL the Secret Scenes delivered for EVERY single team.
We had:
-The amazing revelation that Danielle is afraid of ketchup <3
-Cindy & Rick somehow failing to put on a poncho as they ran to start the leg
-Tanner & Josh not only misusing their Express Pass, but staying in a TENT outside of the hotel while EVERYONE got a room
-More fun Kelsey & Joey strategy talk <3
-Some Mona & Beth/Kym & Alli style editing that could have been used to paint Justin as this threat that everyone talks trash about and wants him out (could have DEFINITELY enhanced the story for this leg by showing both teams as having a slightly heroic edit to the audience[Tanner & Josh (evil)- Justin & Diana (good) and get their plans foiled].
-Jazmine & Danielle not only crossing the border early but running past the HoO board THREE times
-More Cindy & Rick gossiping about the EP <3
-Cindy & Rick giving out a confessional about naming their Giraffe at the Detour then Rick saying they named their sofa Oscar the Couch
IDK, it was just really so weird that the editors would leave out fun stuff like that in favour of spending THIRTY minutes on a Roadblock all about heights that was linear in nature and didn't do much other than give us gorgeous Victoria Falls =/

I agree 100%. This U-turn was completely useless and the only way it would be used was for vindictive reasons.
No Belle Book, that is precisely NOT the reason why the editing sucks.

And Tanner and Josh. Skipping such an amazing Roadblock? Omg, when teams get obsessed with something they make really stupid decisions huh?
The injury caused due to fighting for 2nd place is also unnecessary. At first I was majorly annoyed by that, too, and facepalmed all over the place, but they explained in an interview they thought it might have been for 1st place.
OMG DENISE'S FACE WHEN SHE WAS SPITTED ON. SOMEONE MAKE A MOVING GIF OUT OF IT PLEASE(https://38.media.tumblr.com/285800767da3258e05c8bf97d804b6a9/tumblr_nwd060LjUz1uabncfo1_500.gif)
Finally watching the episode...
"In the history of TAR, if you U-TURN a team behinds you, it never works out"...
Justin, have you watched TAR 18? -_- Kent and Vyxsin's U-TURN on Jaime and Cara?
It sucks that such a magical moment of flying over Niagara Falls gets destroyed by the U-TURN drama.
And Tanner and Josh. Skipping such an amazing Roadblock? Omg, when teams get obsessed with something they make really stupid decisions huh?
