This thread is the WORKZONE of our spoilers.
This is where ALL the spoiler speculation/discussion of the TAR 29 race goes, NOT in the LIVE thread. It is where we try to thrash out what the LIVE sightings mean.
As always, per RFF's practices, we do not spoil the start location (if known) or any teams until it is believed that the teams are safely underway. We would never want to put a team in jeopardy or cause them distress or interfere with the actual running of the race. Info on future legs may also occasionally be protected for those reasons. But if you have info to share beforehand , we would love to know, so please PM or email me! Spoilers are treasured!
This thread will be opened once the race is beginning.

Really? LA start again? 😭😒

I'm pumped this time. But only for locations, not spoilers.
Sensing a visit to Australia.

RACERS HAD TO DO A START LINE CHALLENGE.
RUN to F&M LUGGAGE GALLERY

Search thru red/white/blue tagged suitcases to find the flag representing their next destination.
Is there any reason for these colors. Maybe they could be the national colours of the first destination?
-
So, if it's all individuals, does that mean 11 individuals or 22 with 2 eliminated each time? :colors
Nevermind, Peach just said it was teams after all.
-
Is there any reason for these colors. Maybe they could be the national colours of the first destination?
Ooo! Good point!
Possible countries on a (hopefully) westward route: South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Nepal, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Samoa
-
I can confirm the colours match that of the first leg country
-
Or the less exciting first Leg in Central and South America lol
Panama, Costa Rica, Chile, Paraguay.
or maybe...
Cuba?!!
-
Could they have cast 11 males and 11 females?
-
I already see at least one female team.
-
Could they have cast 11 males and 11 females?
So far I'm counting 8F and 8M
So its possible
Wait for pics to come :)
-
From pics and videos, I have seem 2 female teams

Grey Shirt M + Blonde Blue F
Red Shirt M with Green Shirt F
Red Shirt with Hat M + Blue Shirt with Hat M?
Red Shirt M + Blonde Purple F
Blue Shirt M + Blonde Red Backpack F
Pink Shirt F + Purple Shirt F
Teal Shirt F + Grey Shirt M?
Dark F + Dark F
That's the teams I think I see so far.
-
I wonder how the teams will be titled if they get to pick their partners. Therefore no dating, no relation of any kind, really.
Probably just lame hashtags the show comes up with :P
-
I wonder if teams will have to wear the same color shirts?
-
Production may have to bring back the different color scarves this season. Who knows?
-

The bandanas? They have always had them I think! Whether they were always worn is another story. :funny:
-
Given that it is a Schoolyard Pick, how are they going to be named?
-
Here's the two flights to track, first one leaves in an hour:
https://flightaware.com/live/flight/CMP362
https://flightaware.com/live/flight/CMP303
-
One flight arriving at 6:30 AM and one at 8:05 AM with 7 day average arrival times over an hour and a half earlier than that. I'd think there's some chance for an Hours Of Operation equalizer if they stay in Panama City.
-
I believe the route can go anywhere from Panama. It can go eastwards, westwards, or down to South America for Leg 2. I can even hope they go lower to Antarctica, but the chances for that are very small. On a serious note though, the route can still go anywhere, with possibly new countries to visit like the past 4 seasons.
-
Predicting that after Panama, the race heads to a new SA country like Bolivia or Paraguay.

Both aren't new but I would lean on Paraguay.

Bolivia isn't new either.
-
Well, Cuba is new, and as of yesterday (Thursday) the US Department of Transportation has restored 120 scheduled flights to Cuba from the US, last permitted over 50 years ago.
And there have been regularly scheduled flights to Cuba from other Latin American countries for quite a while.
-
Probably a Westward Route this time
I don't think they will go to South America again (given that season 26 - 28 have been there for at least 2 legs each season)
Looking forward to Guam or Australia probably
-
I'm hoping they go to Costa Rica for leg 2! Or they could go to San Blas! But Panama City, I'm kinda supprised that we have Central America again!

Actually, now that I think of it, it can go anywhere except countries deemed unsafe. ;)

Is 7 the blonde firefighter
The person that sighted them on FB said there was an "irritating blonde firefighter from Rhode Island" and she sure looks like she's bitching out her teammate here :P
Missed first flight?
-
Probably not happening but an idea I had: what if all the countries visited this season were countries with red, white, and blue flags and the memory task is figuring out which flags are for which country. There are countries in south america, europe, asia, and Oceania with this flag colors
-

It'd be a challenging final memory task then, which would be great!
What are the chances of TAR seeing this?
-
I really hope that doesn't happen, because the final memory challenge would be really obvious in foresight.
Look how easy the memory challenge in S28 turned out due to the clues of that challenge being obvious in advance.

Contraband pic of first leg of Amazing Race contestants.
Picture is explicit :funny:
They are discussing an annoying blonde firefighter from Rhode Island
is that a middle finger? :funny:
-
I'm thinking that the 1st leg could be a NEL, because they will need to shoot team photos (without letting any team know who was just eliminated), and people who just knew each other would get to know more about each other, which probably means more screentime for everyone.
-
That's logical, but have we ever had 2 seasons in a row with leg 1 non-eliminations?
I really hope we get a longer premiere though, the starting line must get proper airtime!

I think i've seen that in some TAR Fantasy Games :luvya: but i think it will be sooooo obvious; especially if the production give some silly countries' flag inside the clue each leg to be noticed :gaah:
-

If they ever do that, they need to go to countries with similar looking flags like the Philippines and Czech Republic or Lithuania and Myanmar or Austria and Latvia or Australia and New Zealand.
But don't print the flags in the clue, just maybe place clue boxes where flags are nearby or something, or not even that.
-
Is Leg 1 gonna be non-elimination for cast photos?
-
Is Leg 1 gonna be non-elimination for cast photos?
It's kind of hard for us to know when we barely have any information at all from Panama. Phil is notoriously tight lipped about these things. Maybe we'll know after we see who's around a leg or two down the road.
-
Is Leg 1 gonna be non-elimination for cast photos?
I guess cast photos must have taken at the starting line. Season 28 cast photo was taken at Mexico because the teams started from different locations.
-
Since the racers were starting as individuals, there would have been plenty of time to take those photos during sequester.
Team photos?? ??? Guess we will see!

If it's the second leg there are multiple choices. They could fly to another destination. Or they could stay in Panama, They can go to Bocas del Toro, Boquete, Santa Catalina or San Blas. Or hopefully they travel to Costa Rica, I pray for a leg in Monteverde/Arenal, but they could go to Quepos.

PURE SPEC
Just because I am a Pollyanna... hard to ignore this!!
And one lovely flight to Istanbul....

I definitely think Cuba is a big possibility. Panama is such an easy jump-off point for it.
-
Big chance Leg 1 is NEL...
-
I definitely think Cuba is a big possibility. Panama is such an easy jump-off point for it.
That would be great on the heels of Show content
TAR Canada's visit this season
. But I'm not sure how US viewers would respond to that after being unknown territory to them for 50 years.
-
I definitely think Cuba is a big possibility. Panama is such an easy jump-off point for it.
If that happens, it would be history in the making as The Amazing Race (U.S TV Series, not Canadian version) could be the 1st reality show to film there now that the U.S.-Cuba relations are improving. Fast and the Furious 8 recently filmed there last May, so did Conan O'Brien's late night show earlier in March.
-
As far as I know, Conan's Cuba episode was well received.
I would say that TAR doesn't have that big an audience that a visit to Cuba would make any kind of headlines. The show's lost half of the audience from TAR22 when the Vietnam controversy stirred things up.
-
From the lives
the couple with brunette and strawberry blond is most likely Team 3
https://www.google.com/search?q=strawberry+blonde&espv=2&biw=1024&bih=667&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiPh8vS9aLNAhVY6WMKHW-9Ag8Q_AUIBigB
On side note, it seems like the teams seen were on the first flight in the last leg. And since the second flight was delayed 2? hours , it could be possible someone from that group is out if not a non-elim
-
I took a look at Gamboa, Panama on Google Earth. It's inland and where the Chagres River enters the Panama Canal. The pictures seemed to match the background of Phil and the woman. I also saw that there was a village of the Embera Indians catering to tourists and another picture showed the Embera indians meeting tour buses in their dugout canoes. That seems like something they may be using for this leg.
-
Leg 1 is probably a NEL, as I speculated in an earlier post, but I hope this gets confirmed soon. :yess:
On Cuba though, I guess I'll have to wait and see for this one.

Since they started pretty early and there flying somewhere, it is possible we will see them later on somewhere. Hopefully...
-
Yep. It's not a big deal anymore...no matter what stunts TAR does, the ratings will remain low.
Thanks for that upbeat and positive assessment. :hearts:
-
We are getting off topic. Back to spoiler discussion only please?
-
So, there's two Panama legs?
-
So, there's two Panama legs?
No, because we saw racers departing this AM.
Almost certainly that leg was yesterday, waiting for confirmation.
-
So, there's two Panama legs?
Maybe not, there was a sighting at the airport. Doubtful they'd get on a plane for another leg, Panama's a tiny country.
And as for Cuba, if that were the case we may have heard something by now. Based on the distance, wouldn't that be like a 1 hour flight, 2 hours at most?
-
Yes but there is minimal Internet service nd practically no Twitter so unless some kind Canadians post... :groan:
-
If leg 2 is in fact Sao Paulo.
Production probably had Phil in earlier flight, with teams getting bunched for the one arriving 6h20.
Though from the few information I'm gathering here, seems that it's unlikely, and things pointing out to Sao Paulo, might actually be for a local race.
-
Has TAR ever jumped from South America to Asia? ???
I'm now doubting on a westward route, but TAR13 went to NZ from South America iirc, so there's still a chance.
-
Other than TAR13 which went from Bolivia to New Zealand, I don't think any other season has gone west from South America. And I believe the biggest reason is the lack of flights from South America to Asia and how expensive those few flights are. They could of course fly to Asia through LA. But it would appear easier to just go east from Central/South America.

There are flights from South America to Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia but they are quite expensive. If they are going to Asia, South Korea's flag carrier, Korean Air offers a flight to Sao Paulo via Los Angeles. Also Emirates and Qatar Airways offer direct flights to U.A.E. and Qatar respectively, even Singapore Airlines does via Barcelona. Logical would be Europe or Africa, given that there a numerous flights going east.

Team 6 (F/F) spotted in Sao Paulo. They're the only ones so far.
-
~ignore~
-
According to the Sighting thread, the girls appear to be on the Sao Paulo Metro Line #2 (Verde Line) heading to Se Station. The sign behind them is lit up showing them passing the Brigadeiro Station, where they will have to switch to the Blue Line (at Paraiso Station) to get to Se Station. :groan: ...maybe :snicker:

It is. If you rotate the view to the other side of the avenue, you can see the same green building from the pics of the other teammates waiting.

Thanks Oliveira :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Yup I was cloae enough to hear: "Joey and Tara you are team #7"
Though there must be Route Info missing before Detour, as our first sighting was already of teams in metro heading there. Considering how far is the airport, there must have been another clue that had them in a cab into the city.
-
If the all-female team is one of those who didn't get the penalty, that could save them!

Interesting, because the Metro Map (http://www.aeroportocongonhas.net/en/metro-congonhas-airport-sao-paulo) mentions how to get to the airport using the Metro. :snicker: I doubt, however, the racers are going to mess with a metro AND bus ride, so end up taking a cab as usual. Oh well. :grins:
-
There are flights from South America to Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia but they are quite expensive.
Well surprisingly for now the flights to Africa (South Africa to be exact) are actually more expensive than the flights to Australia/New Zealand IF they fly via Air New Zealand just under $900 per person iirc as opposed to other airline need to spend $1000+ per person but it's only available on Tuesday/Friday/Sunday.
Or else yeah it's more expensive fly to Aus/NZ than South Africa, but it just SLIGHTLY expensive with no vast price difference.
Despite I think we're most likely having eastward route again, but don't lose your hope there's still have possibilities having Westwards route by going to Aus/NZ which both countries are overdue now for another visit since their last visit was TAR18/TAR22 respectively.

Congonhas is São Paulo's domestic airport, teams would have arrived at Guarulhos Airport which is much further away.

Production would never give an honest answer to that Question.

London/Frankfurt/AMS open up all of Europe and Scandinavia nicely.

I think France can be safely excluded since the county host the UEFA Euro 2016 right now.
Scandinavia/Baltic/Central/Eastern Europe are my bet for this season Europe visit, or even maybe insert some underused countries visit like Ireland/South East Europe.
But since they haven't leave South America yet, so anything is possible to happen.

Just a random thought, could the window-washing RB be similar to the one on TAR6 Shanghai? They clean to find a word in the window?

As for the metro though, iirc and iinm, there was a photo of them at what looks like the inside of a train?

I doubt that the women's team was saved. F10 NELs have never happened, and especially leg-two NELs haven't happened on any TAR season except for Ukraine's version. So I think they're out.
I'm a bit confused at how there's only one, though. Weren't there ten men and twelve women? That should've left room for at least two to form, not just one.
-
No, eleven men and women. That's why we have 1 M/M, 1 F/F and 9 M/F.

That's actually info for CGR, not the international airport. Well, not anymore.
They surely arrived from GRU from PTY, which is at least an hour drive to get into the center of the city.
But the new info Peach just sent me, seems to check out, and seems to justify the missing time on 06/12 (the leg probably started the morning of the 12th), and it does link up to why teams were spotted in Metro stations near Paulista heading to Detour spot further more into the center of the city.
-
Just a random thought, could the window-washing RB be similar to the one on TAR6 Shanghai? They clean to find a word in the window?
Tried seeing if there were words on the windows but nothing viewable from the ground. If there was something to find probably inside the offices from the building, that had to found viewed through the window.
There must be something more detailed involved, as I was leaving, and did pass by the RB spot, and it seemed like that a team had to redo it.

Instituto CERVANTES could be foreshadowing to sending teams to Spain? I am flying there tomorrow morning, so let me know for anything if they happen to go there.

Awesome!! My mistake on the RB photo that is actually first 4 not last 4.
Yes please post the MAP!! We love MAPS!!
It would be a big help if you could add in the pics that go with these descriptions right here too, I am really confused about who was spotted where and when.
And based on Panama sightings, I think the first two of those flights are the most likely.
Thanks again for a great day!

I got a question on the pitstop arrival.
At first Oliveira said the 4th team to check in was a male and a blonde but later identified the team as team 3 which does not match the description. So which team checked in fourth?
Logic tells me team 5 because they were the first 4 at the roadblock.
-
If they go to Africa NeXT could we finally get a real visit to Kenya or a visit to Uganda ???
-
:gaah::

Seems like Team 3 placed 6 based on the pitstop pic

It seems like the 3rd leg is still held in Brazil, South America.
I'm speculating that they might head to South Africa for Leg 4. It is overdue for a visit after all. Is Angola safe for a visit though? It might be our new country this season.

I did. The one posted by Candi is in Brazil right?

Yes. The get the clue for the next leg start. They left for the airport then. And that is what we know so far. It does not suggest a third leg in Brazil.

Do we know which airport they're heading for? So maybe we can narrow down the next possible locations. ???
-
They will likely go to Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) in order to leave Brazil.
-
Someone did list the likely flights breakdown yesterday, just can't find the post anymore now.
Thought about some things overnight, and there seems to be some additional info we might able to gleam about the Sao Paulo leg. As it's not confirmed by sighting, mostly logic, I'll put it here on spec.
What we know:
- Helicopter ride from Carapicuiba to Heliport in Paulista area, starting at 5am, with departure times with 15 minutes intervals and there were 5 helicopters. Meaning there were 5 Departure times: 5:00 - 5:15 -5:30 - 5:45 - 6:00
- FF team spotted at metro train around 8:30am. I would later see them around 12:30pm heading to RB.
- Teams performed RB between 10am(ish) till 1pm(ish)
Spec:
- It seems very likely that there was an additional task at whatever building they were dropped off from the Helicopter ride. You can actually drive from Carapicuiba to the Paulista area in about an hour and that's considering some traffic (and taxis also get the benefit of using bus lanes if they have passengers). Helicopter ride I assume should be shorter. A task during flight is very unlikely, with two teams per aircraft, and the city was still very dark around 5am. It's the thing that would make sense time wise for FF team being spotted around 8:30am, even if they got last departure time.
- There was probably a clue box / clue pick-up spot at Praça da Sé, that being for the Detour. The FF team metro sighting seems to be specific about getting them to Se station, which is a few blocks away from the reported detour location which has closer stations for that matter. From Praça da Sé they can travel by foot (it's like 15 minute walk) or taxi to detour options.
- Getting demo and performing detour succesfully probably took a while, cause traveling to Praça da Sé, then going to detour places and then back to Paulista area doesn't take that long, and finding taxis not really a problem around these places.
- On that subject, I have to assume FF team completed the detour and also took metro back to Paulista to find RB clue. The place where they ran past me, makes it unlikely they took a taxi, that could have dropped them off at the or closer to where the Clue giver for the RB was, where they wouldn't have ran past me.
-
Do we even know if they left Brazil? They could have flown to a city inside Brazil.
-

After taking a look again, the pit stop mat was mostly covered. :groan: It was unobvious too. I thought the team was just posing to rip an ordinary clue, not a pit start clue.

By the looks of things so far:
Leg 1: Panama
Leg 2: São Paulo, Brazil
Leg 3: eastern Brazil
Leg 4 is definitely Europe or Africa. I would like to see a country in Western Africa like Nigeria or Côte d'Ivoire get visited for the first time. They deserve visits.
-
Could leg 3 be in Paraty & (or) Ilha Grande.

Where are you getting Eastern Brazil from?

NO evidence for eastern Brazil that I know of.
Next leg is NOT determined.
Please don't say "definitely" until we know for sure? Thanks!

No matter where they are, they should have landed. PLEASE everyone watch social media for airport sightings??

From the Hollywood Reporter Article:
But these fans made a point of saying, "We don't want to ruin anything for other fans by divulging who came in where or what happened."
And then we figured out the PS placements anyway    <3 Good job again to our Brazillian spoilers!

Have you ever had any near close calls on the production side?
Just this morning, I was trying to get ahead of the teams. It was a very tight race, and I was trying to get ahead to the pit stop, and this bread company was handing out bread on the street. It was a big party celebration on the street. Meanwhile, I was getting texts [from producers] saying that the teams were actually likely to beat me to the pit stop. There is a whole other layer, which makes it extremely exciting, and the excitement and unpredictability come through on the screen.
Could this be a lead to the country of the leg Phil was talking about? :P

Possibly, but I think it's likelier that the interview was yesterday or the day before and the bread company is in Sao Paulo. If it's not in Sao Paulo or Panama City, I'm not sure how you'd find the bread company holding the celebration. It sounds like a needle in a haystack search.

The bread company is probably in São Paulo, definitely in Brazil. I know this because in part of an answer for another question, he says "in Brazil today".

This may well prove to be nothing useful, but I can't tell for sure. I saw this tweet below from earlier today in Arabic that may be a sighting, apparently from Cairo. It seems improbable, but I figured I'd share it anyway and see what others think, since we seem to have lost them right now. The timing would be about right for a flight from Sao Paulo to Europe and then to Egypt.

4:36 AM - 15 Jun 2016
which Bing translates as:
Is The Amazing Race cross into Egypt?!
No, seriously, the origin of foreigners in Metro line so angry is weird btaa shubra on Ania
Google comes up with:
Niala on hard, the origin of foreigners in brief Shubra line Btaa Almitroho The Amazing Race Abieda in Egypt ?!
is so weird
Though while cut and pasting, I get the English and Arabic words shifted around in Google while I'm copying them, so that probably alters the translation a bit.
A little googling finds that there is a Giza-Shubra line on the Cairo Metro system, so the sighting (if it is one) appears to have been there. I could see a team lost on the Cairo Metro being angry. I have a hard time believing that TAR would find Egypt to be a safe destination, so I wouldn't expect they would go there. I could be wrong though. I haven't heard of any recent trouble in Egypt, but I admit I don't follow the news from there closely. Most likely, the guy just saw some foreigners on the Cairo Metro and threw out a TAR reference while commenting on it. If anyone here knows Arabic, a better translation might help. The guy's twitter feed has links to posts on his Facebook page, but the ones I looked at didn't seem to have anything to do with TAR. He appears to be an engineering student or maybe an engineer from what I can tell.
ask him describe team or picture this only way we could confrim

We need someone who can communicate in Arabic to do it.

We should really try to reach out to the Egyptian on live sightings. I don't think we have any Arabic people here at RFF (could be very wrong though), so maybe let's try English? Who knows, maybe he speaks English really well and was simply tweeting in his native language - completely logical.

I'd just ask for more details, but I'd have to trust an online translator to convert my message from English to Arabic. As you can see from my attempt to translate above, it probably wouldn't come out as anything he could understand.

This morning did seem specific. So wonder if he only shot the Detour intros after most teams left. RB spot was so close to the PitStop, it's the most likely way he get stuck on the way to the Pitstop.
-
Already done guys, let's see what happens? Thanks Plaid!
-
Since no one knew their partner before hand this season, it would make sense for there to be a "how well do you know your partner" challenge in the last few legs.
-
The dragon-boat racers have uploaded a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrQg-s0DwHQ) which matches our Detour dock, but I haven't found the exact spot yet.

Maybe TARUS will finally bring over that Active TV/TARA/TARAu/TARPH favorite "What do you think about other teams?" task, but in a way that does not screw two awesome All-Star teams from a win. lol
-
After gleaning what I could from the video, the only pier I could find with a parking lot on one side and a gazebo on the other side is this little place (https://goo.gl/maps/mEPYF3toN7S2) next to the rainforest resort. Can't call it yet, though.

Had a nice convo with Ahmed, who was very helpful.
Here is the gist of the conversation:
Sighting:
Who did you see?
They were 3
2 women and an old man with gray hair
Not to old
But older than the 2 ladies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Where were they?
They were on the metro
They got of in a station called el sadat (Later described as a Square)
They spoke english
I'm guessing European not American English
Like UK , Ireland, Welsh. IDK
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What made you think "Amazing Race"? Were there cameras? What did they say or do that made you think race?
.They held a paper
A kind of instruction paper
And on it was the logo
The amazing race
I could distinct it as i was a big fan of the show once bofore
And you don't see tourists this deep in the country frequently
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Were there cameras? Backpacks?
No cameras whatsoever
I do think they were contestants
There was only one backpack
But it was more like a bag
A back bag
Small and half full
~~~~~~~~~~~
Pretty much it...
No cameras? Probably bogus or a local Race? :umn:
-
DRAGON BOAT LOVE!!
-
Yeah gamer....
Either a local race Or...production??
-
For what it is worth...Phil has been active on Twitter about 1230Am to 3 AM ish EST the last few nights.
-
This is almost too weird to post...but here goes.
Doing my middle of the night TAR search.
Via twitter, keyword Keoghan.
Got the tweet below...
Now kiwibot posts PURE NONSENSE. So the tweet itself is worthless and MEANS NOTHING.
What was odd, and I could not capture it...was the tweet said "translated from Estonian"
No idea... just odd. Maybe someone could try to replicate?.
Estonian could explain no sightings... and hasn't been visited since 15. But :duno:
-
I do not get "translated from Estonian" when I see that tweet.
-
I do not get "translated from Estonian" when I see that tweet.
I replicated it once, the other times no.
Probably nothing....just weird. Thanks maf!
-
I don't see "translated from Estonian" either. Just a normal ...well... just a bizarre content tweet with normal formatting.
For what it's worth, according to Wikipedia, Matamata is a real small town on the north island of New Zealand and Petra Bagust was the host of a New Zealand morning show until she quit a few years back to spend more time with her husband and family.
-
not us it look like it is set up as local race
Seems that way :(
Reply: It was done at my school I think it's an unofficial race box like they just made it
Why? What are characteristics of TAR US clue box?
-
If it was a real TAR clue box, I don't think they would leave their snacks on top of it. At least that's an image I'd rather not contemplate.
Geez, Roy, you spilled your ginger ale all over the clues! No, stay away! I'll clean up. You have greasy fingers from the chips!
:o
-
I took a closer look at the twitter account of the guy who posted the clue box photo. He has retweeted a lot of messages from a high school in Manila and appears to be a teenager, so I expect that the clue box is in the Philippines.
-
Now I remember! :groan:
I occasionally see some people in my social media promoting a local TAR-esque competition held earlier today, June 17.
Therefore, I can confirm that cluebox ain't a legit TAR US cluebox. I'm impressed with the cluebox that they have though. :o
-

:funny: OK, I'm bored waiting for new race info...so decided to dig further into that (local race) cluebox sighting pic. I think I figured out the lettering on the tent-like thingie.. kinda looks like "100Plus".
Turns out "100Plus" is a isotonic sports drink, produced in Malaysia, and popular in Malaysia and Singapore. Not a stretch to imagine it's liked in the Philippines too. :snicker: Maybe those cases of bottles on the ground are related. :grins: Again, nothing to do with our race.... :(
OK, I'm still bored..... carry on.....
-
Anyone bored could be searching FB, twitter, Instagram and News for sightings!!
It takes a village!
And vary your search terms...try filming, Phil, Backpacks, cameras, and other race related terms!

Looking at the flights and since we got no sightings in a while they could have gone to Johannesburg
Jo-burg 600
or flew to a European destination and/or transit to another country
Hopefully we can catch them soon and backwards map
The surprising part of no sightings is quite puzzling actually because contestants literally have amazing race written on their fanny packs. Anyone technically could tell its the amazing race. :funny: :funny: :funny: :groan:

Translate please?
everyday rin samin huhuh. wow amazing race pa pala ganern kaiyak. oo nga ilang taon na rin huhuh bilis ng panahon
Seeing a bunch of ??Indonesian/Philippines tweets this AM...could those if you with language skills please help watch? :tu
-
Yup, that's Filipino. That and the other tweets from this morning are basically any of the following:
-Complaining about Manila traffic
-Complaining about school class times
-Amazing Race Asia auditions
-24 Hours of Le Mans racing
-
Thanks d-m! Yes Le Mans is going to make searching challenging today!
Fossil- Jo-burg has an extraordinary fan group that have missed very little in the past. They only ones we miss there have been the immediate small plane hops to nearby game preserves/adjoining countries. If they were RACING in Jo-burg I have confidence they would have been seen.
-
I think they are just hiding from us, congrats to them!!
But makes it kinda hard for us to stir up a BUZZ and excitement to help promote this new season!!
I think we could use a PHIL mystery photo! :funny:
So...while we are waiting, is everyone working on team ID's??
I have one more WHOLE TEAM coming later today!! :hearts:
-
Or, hopefully this isn't the case :funny: CBS called up Bertram in the middle of it to say: "We've decided to cancel your show. No need to finish the race, scrub it and fly home."
In seriousness, though, this is weird. Not finding anything, either.

Reminds me of the Season 20 spoiling season. Hopefully that is not the case this time around.
Back to watching/searching :escape

I think they finally went to Antarctica. That could be, if you ignore the extra expense of flying everyone there and back on a chatered plane and that it's almost winter down there. I looked and couldn't find but 1 of the handful of weather stations reporting a temperature above 0F (-20C). That one was 7F with a 30 mph wind and snow.

The alternative is by sea, but there is a body of water between there and South America's horn called the Drake Passage that is notoriously choppy.
I wish, though. No version in the world has touched that one

There's no way since it's Winter, tour agencies only do them in Summer.

They are maybe in Lisbon or Portugal. This city is the smallest in the international flight list and Portugal is a small country with a lot of places to visit include acores and madera island. But for the moment, the racers are lost and we can just search and speculate.

Someone did list the likely flights breakdown yesterday, just can't find the post anymore now.
Discounting the US, the rest of So Am, and the 20 or so LOVELY flights to Iguassu Falls...
Here are the International flights tomorrow: 6/14:
madrid 200
Rome 305
Madrid 310
Paris 345
Lisbon 345
London 410
Munich 445
Jo-burg 600
Zurich 605P
Frankfurt 710
Amsterdam 715P
Toronto 805
Abu Dhabi 1005P
Frankfurt 1010
Paris 1035
Madrid 1055P
Barcelona 1155
London 1155
London/Frankfurt/AMS open up all of Europe and Scandinavia nicely.

Lisbon is in Portugal. :/ Anyway we would get sightings there because many tourists go there, if they're currently in Europe they're probably in Northern Scandinavia, I mean there would be no sightings there. They could go to Spain this season (Madrid & Santiago pls) but I hope they visit Finland and Eastern Europe. They could've gone to Togo, there are direct flights from São Paulo, probs not though :funny:
-
For many seasons, The AMAZING RACE Fanny Pack disappeared...guess they WANT us to be seen now?? Interesting choice, lol.
-
If anyone REALLY thinks they are going to Africa, I have some lovely oceanfront property for you in Nevada.
Production would never give an honest answer to that Question.
Turns out this was said by a local production person-- not one of ours...so perhaps a truthful answer could have been correct.
Joburg flight remains a possibility!
-
It's possible that TAR29 will be the same format as TAR Chinese 3 (2 legs for each month)? It's an incredible speculation but we never know. If the race is actually on, phil and the contestants are world champion to hide :funny:

Yay maybe South Africa
-
I'm not sure about South Africa as its a really populated country. I'm pretty sure we would know if they went to South Africa. Maybe they went to somewhere like the Canary Islands or a country with little population. Maybe they went to Angola (it would be a first time visit :trampb:)
As for leg 3, the teams may have gone to Manaus and the Amazon because we lost them at that point. Let me see if I can find flights from that day from Manaus. It probably wouldn't do any help as they probably had a layover somewhere. (:;)

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

What if they go to Oceania, or a few of those countless small islands around the planet?

It is possible they could of flown somewhere like that like landing in Auckland during the night
-
The worst thing is, we haven't even found out whether it's an eastward or a westward route yet, so we can't even decrease the spectrum of continents to look at

maybe they went to Tristan de Cunha :swim

If they did go to Northern Scandinavia, we at least should get a sighting from a connecting airport somewhere in Europe. Looking back at Season 23, I remember we got a sighting in Svolvaer, Norway with 1 pic. There are flights from Sao Paulo to Togo, Ethiopian Airlines serves this route.
-
According to a video I found, Elise Doganieri has stated that if teams were to go to a rather warm country, they normally send them to a cool place for the next leg. Since Brazil is a rather humid and warm country, the choices would be northern Scandanavia, Switzerland (very unlikely as it was visited last season), and Antarctica.
Or... Maybe they went to the Andes and then tricked us like TAR13, where teams end up going westward.
Maybe one of those places could've been their next visit?
-
In the past seasons, Phil used to post scenic pictures in his Instagram account which are clues on where he is. Now he does not. I remember we were missing a leg in Season 25, Phil posted a picture of a tunnel and an RFF user decoded the picture and located that the tunnel is in Italy.

Zanzibar :D
Isn't that just the old name of Tanzania? That episode of the Simpsons when they went to Africa comes to mind.
"Attention, passengers. Prepare for our landing in Tanzania...I mean New Zanzibar...I'm sorry, it is now called Pepsi presents New Zanzibar"

Zanzibar is part of Tanzania although it's SemiAutonomous. I think it once was an independent country.
-
Two comments.
Is this leg 3?
And IIRC, this is the first visit there since the infamous leg in TAR 11 All-Stars
-
TAR Israel visited Zanzibar recently too and there were sightings if I remember correctly.
-
huh!?! Zanzibar (Tanzania).... appears this season is shadowing TAR11 (South America, Africa...)
IIRC wasn't there an 'unfinished' or 'altered' task involving boat travel to Zanzibar in TAR11? Could this be a re-do of that task? Been so long ago, hard to remember. ???
-
Storm screencap included for reference. :funny:
-
Wow Zanzibar, Tanzania :colors We absolutely haven't been there in a long time. What Leg is Zanzibar?
-
I just want to say that TANZANIA is a PLACE OF MY HEART. I spent a long time in Kenya and Tanzania, and they changed me. I love the places and the people, and could not be more thrilled that we are back for another visit..
One of my biggest TAR disappointments was the TAR 11 "LOST" Tanzanian leg Because of the whatever production/cast/transportation issues we lost a leg there, and I have been grieving for it ever since. You might have fun going back and reading those spoilers.
Moving on...
-
moox03 just posted a video of teams running with cameras in Aalesund, which is in Norway! Must be a more recent leg.
-
SPEC TRANSPORT:
Team had two choices to get to Zanzibar although I am sure they were directed to take one or the other.
There was one direct flight
But more likely they flew to Dar and then took one of many flights onto Zanzibar, which would put them about 3 miles from town and their next sighting.

Good, been waiting for that one! I can confirm NORWAY.

Zanzibar, Norway :werock:

Yup. That's London & Logan (Team #4) and Scott & Brooke (Team #3). Those Avis-rented Volvo XC60's means a self-driving leg :hearts:

already posted nevermind!! :hides

I don't think the timing fits for 3 legs, probably just two in Zanzibar/Tanzania

That could make sense as well.

I can't see them doing 2 legs in Zanzibar, they may visit one of the outlying islands, Dar Es Salam, Serengeti or maybe Kenya.

With that view, definitely Pit Stop.
-
Makes sense, since all the Phil sightings are there too.
-
Presumed Pitstop:
Aksla Viewpoint
In Ålesund you can visit the Town Mountain and viewpoint Aksla. From this location there is a panoramic view of the archipelago, the beautiful town centre, and the amazing Sunnmøre Alps. Walk the 418 steps up from the Town Park, go by car or take the City Train up to Fjellstua.
Fjellstua, which is situated at the top, has got an outdoor restaurant, café, and a platform to enjoy the view. To go up to Aksla you can either take the 418 steps that go up from the Town Park or you can drive Borgundfjordveien/Fjelltunveien all the way up.

Locations
Although the sculpture is missing, I'm reasonably sure that Sunni1957 (http://www.pikore.com/m/1276201397855345502_3257565405) took a photo of this place (https://bit.ly/1UWjJwt).
The pictures of Team 11 carrying something (torches?) are a few blocks away--here (https://goo.gl/maps/HmUkK24YK632).
Still haven't found the car park yet.
-
So is Tanzania the missing Leg(s) between Brazil and Norway or is it possible that there were other Legs, based on the timeframe?
-
Well it took a while but the racers are getting into their cars at Slinningsodden 48, an apartment (condo?) complex (viewpoint (https://goo.gl/maps/tZJ3NvFjEuG2)); haven't the foggiest what they're doing there.

It's kind of late now, but maybe the racers will be seen leaving Alesund.
Here's three airport webcams at the Alesund airport.
http://airportwebcams.net/alesund-vigra-airport-webcam/ (http://airportwebcams.net/alesund-vigra-airport-webcam/)
I'll confess that I couldn't actually get any of them to load. They timed out. So, it's possible they aren't running, but maybe some of you will have better luck.
-
I got to load one with a view of two planes... any idea when to check?

Not really. Here's a link to flights in and out of Alesund:
http://flightaware.com/live/airport/ENAL (http://flightaware.com/live/airport/ENAL)
In addition to the expected flights to Oslo and Amsterdam, there is also one flight a day to Gdansk, Poland and Vilnius, Lithuania.
Interesting.....
:spy:
-
Gdansk from Oslo, so that's basically the flight they took in Season 23. Doubt that one.
But if they turned up in Lithuania, that's your cue, Marionette
-
I am missing Apskip today!! :( :( :(
Let's remember that we saw them with cars. Could they drive somewhere to a train/ larger airport/ car ferry?
This link has choices, there may be others. http://www.rome2rio.com/s/Oslo/Ålesund
We need to watch everywhere!! Norwegian speakers please help with sightings we might miss.
Let's start using the transport thread for transport spec, come up with some ideas please?
So proud of our RFF team!! :hearts:

But if they turned up in Lithuania, that's your cue, Marionette
Omg I would die of happiness if that happened
Do we have any idea whether the teams (might have) departed for the next leg today or will they depart tomorrow?
As for Vilnius, there are 2 flights from Oslo arriving tomorrow: one at 10:40 (Norvegian Air Shuttle) and the other one at 16:45 (Ryanair), with the times being local (GMT +3).
Connecting flights are possible as well, for example it's really easy to connect through Riga, though teams would need to fly from the airport in Oslo.
BUT I really don't want to get my hopes up
-
If standard pitstop, it would be TODAY.
-
Do hope no one went via Schiphol!! MASSIVE delays.
-
its 7:30 roughly in mainland Europe. If team departed in the morning/early afternoon they should be landing this evening with most likely a HOO. so lets see!
-
There are direct flight form Alesund to Riga, am i right? Am i the one who believe that we could have another new country here??? :hearts:
-
This probably won't happen, but I wouldn't mind them simply crossing the border. Finland has never a Pit Stop! Just a partial leg in season 10 that ended in Ukraine.
-
Based on the live sighting - looks like Milan via Heathrow is next..
-
Scheduled landing in 50 mins for that flight!
-
Hopefully they visit Como :trampb:
-
If this is the flight they are on - its delayed:
-
With 7 teams we should be on Leg 6
For the last few seasons, Leg 6 always have 7 teams.
-
or it could be this flight to Milan... also delayed. a lot.
Explains why they are at Terminal 5 waiting...
-
Teams were spotted on Terminal 5. From that terminal, today there's only one flight:

Team 4 and 1 and 2
The purple bag girl is, as far as I can tell, not Becca so not a racer.
Missing
Team 3/5/11/10
Eliminated
Team 9
Team 6
-
Is it weird that all I'm thinking about is that I've been in that WHSmith :funny:
-
THIS is the flight!!
-
And just in case it is transit, here are the MN to 0600 fights, after that they could go anywhere!
-
Doubt transit, there are easier ways to get to those places than via Milan though
-
Team 10??? If we get the video, maybe we can fully confirm this.
What I circled in red is very similar to team 10 girl's bag :spy:
-
Anyone with friends in Milan, PM me please!

Could it be from Team 10? The more I look the more I think it is.

Gray bag

It could be
-
With 7 teams we should be on Leg 6
For the last few seasons, Leg 6 always have 7 teams.
We could also be on Leg 7 since we've seen NELs on Leg 6 with 7 teams.
-
With 7 teams we should be on Leg 6
For the last few seasons, Leg 6 always have 7 teams.
We could also be on Leg 7 since we've seen NELs on Leg 6 with 7 teams.
I don't think were more than halfway yet though.
We missed teams for 4 days because they went to Africa. Most likely 2 legs plus take into consideration the time flights and transportation took to and from that continent and pit stop rest.
-
With 7 teams we should be on Leg 6
For the last few seasons, Leg 6 always have 7 teams.
We could also be on Leg 7 since we've seen NELs on Leg 6 with 7 teams.
I REALLY don't think there was time for that.
-
If the team with the gray bag is Team 10, Team 5 is out at 9th place since Team 3 and 11 were seen on the last leg in Norway.
Either Team 3 or 11 may have gotten the boot in Norway
Another random fact: Leg 5 always have 8 teams and have been an elim leg :o (for the past few seasons 23-28).
-

So it looks like:
Leg 1: Panama
Leg 2: Brazil
Leg 3: Tanzania
Leg 4: Tanzania
Leg 5: Norway
Leg 6: Italy
-
As stated several times, we do NOT yet know there were two legs in Tanzania. We know we had Zanzibar, still working on the rest
-
Here is the possible gray bag from a vid shot. NOT 10.
-
Here is the possible gray bag from a vid shot. NOT 10.
2 different people
Shoes don't match so no
Team 7 Male has black shoes
The gray bag person has brown shoes (leather?)
-
Based on history, I don't doubt they spent 2 legs in Tanzania. Every African visit since season 17 has been the same: 2 legs in one country, and usually in the same general area, before moving on to the next continent.
17: Ghana
19: Malawi
20: Tanzania
22: Botswana
25: Morocco
26: Namibia
27: Zimbabwe (Well, 1 1/2. Zambia, but both Pit Stops were in Zimbabwe, and they really just border-hopped)
I guess because flights in Africa are significantly lacking compared to the rest of the world.
-
Teams arrived in Milan at about midnight. Suppose this is go take a long train ride time? ???
-
Here is the possible gray bag from a vid shot. NOT 10.

I don't understand what you are saying?
Who knows? Gray bag could be production as well.
-
It would be shocking if it has only been 1 leg for each country so far. Though that has me thinking about the possibility of a shorter season like TAR12 maybe?
-
Could they've done a leg in Kenya?
-
It would be shocking if it has only been 1 leg for each country so far. Though that has me thinking about the possibility of a shorter season like TAR12 maybe?
I'm hoping its not a shorter season. Maybe they're doing the Season 27 (Argentina-Zambia-Zimbabwe) & Season 28 (Colombia-Switzerland-France) style, 10 countries?
Just a spec: The missing leg may either be somewhere in Brazil such as the Amazon and areas nearby it or in Africa which is more possible given that we missed them for 4 days. Leaning towards Africa though ???
Could they've done a leg in Kenya?
I'll try to contact my professor, she lives and teaches in Nairobi, Kenya now. Maybe she saw something that could be TAR since she lives near the airport, I hope she answers.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BG7ZPuoCFiY/?taken-by=amybrojo
EDIT: sorryfor wrong place, again :groan:
-
Varenna is where the boats took off from. The pitstop? Villa Balbianello would be a natural choice for production (it's where the Naboo wedding was shot, as well as the infamous
Sand (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tLf1JO5bvE) sequence; I think a Bond film was there as well). The mountain across the lake is very close to a match, but the viewing angle is off a bit (and the balusters are all wrong). I think it's nearby, though.
-
So Leg 6 is done?
and there filming for Leg 7?
KOR?
-
Paddle gondola through canals!!
-
Is Phil just doing tomorrow's standup now? Is that a team? ???
-
We wouldn't have U-Turn and then a KOR, would we? ???
So it has to be Phil just doing his Intro...unless that IS a team? Help?
-
It seems likely it's a KOR, that's an awfully quick Pit Stop, but I wonder how they got there.
Varenna is near the northern border of Italy, while Venice is on the northeast shore. It's a bit of a distance to travel.
-
It's 282 kms between Varenna and Venice so maybe self-driving there? It would be cool if that's the case

TAR27, leg 4, Peach.

Three and a half hours approximately by car. Almost five on bus and train, via Milan.
-
Looks like dream team members/stand-ins in the boat. I don't think Phil would do an introduction that would slow a team down like that.
-
He is doing the live stuff right with them these days, but I agree w/ Slowhatch...actors or some VERY lucky tourists!!
Damn, these legs from Zanzibar on are making this my fave route ever! Now...Burma please!
-
Unless they were super motivated and started the teams out at 5am, It's a huge undertaking to do a leg north of Milan and then go to Venice either by car or train and then transit Venice on foot from parking lots or train station to do Two legs unless there was some type of air transport involved between the two locations. Just the drive with traffic and toll booths takes a long time and the trains are still two plus hours between Milan and Venice. Tack on longer if they have to catch a local train from Como or even to drive to the Milan station before getting on a train. Makes me think two legs.
-
I think I have the pitstop/KOR point. The hillside looks good, and the balustrade looks good (can't account for the ivy, but maybe it's just a date thing). Viewpoint here (https://goo.gl/maps/ZsZ14vjsK812); turn the camera around and you'll see the Villa Sola Cabiati.
-
Yes Slowhatch! I was wondering why the viewpoints from Varenna itself were all slightly off! The sun's far to the east. They must have been there early.
Jumping back a little, it's likely Tanzania was only one leg. Teams arrived in Zanzibar the afternoon of 16 Jun, and were next seen in Ålesund on 19 Jun. Based on typical production schedules, they'd give Phil an extra day between two less-well-connected places, so there's two calendar days (i.e. 17 and 18 Jun) between "racing days" for rest and travel. That means there isn't enough time for a second leg in Tanzania.
-
The pic with Phil actually looks like it's from the Bellagio side. Bellagio is a quick boat ride from Varenno and could be where the teams were heading. They did have there packs on so it doesn't appear they planned on returning to Varenno.
-
Trying to find Phil... not all canals have walkways, in fact, very few... at least those that look like this. While it's not an exact match, the Phil stand-up in the gondola could have been filmed some where along this particular canal, possibly from a bridge. :grins: Damn, there are so may canals there. :snicker:
-
I thought we had a picture of a team leaving the Sao Paulo pit stop on the 14th?
-
You're right! I based my post off Peach's flight here (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,32173.msg1168797.html#msg1168797). Peach, could the flight have been off by a day? (If that flight is confirmed, that would mean 2 legs in Sao Paulo.)
The Lake Como spot found by Slowhatch is on the Cadenabbia side.
-
NEOBIE! :hearts: Where have you BEEN??
Thank Goodness! I was just sitting down to make sense of the flights.
Yes, sorry, that should have been on the 14th...I posted that late and had prob slept 5 min in 48 hrs :funny:
And in addition to the Zanzibar posts we also have this tweet which I do not believe was posted.
The poster was departing Zanzibar airport: On the day we think our guys might have been heading out as well...
So many camera men filming .... Two guys in the airport
11:12 AM - 18 Jun 2016
So maybe we can see if we do have a Tanzania leg? I can't believe there wouldn't be one....
:wohoo: for Neobie!!
-
Looking like several important bits got missed about Zanzibar when Norway appeared in the middle of our reveal. :groan:
Let me check a few things and will also message you Neobie.
And IF I miscalculated by a day there may be room for a Tanzania leg BEFORE Zanzibar...
ugh
-
After comparing rooftops, windows, housing rows etc. I'm going to spot the W-Turn cluebox in Verenna, a short distance from where they boarded the boats.
-
Could a short duration KOR leg have happened on the Tanzania mainland either before or after the known Zanzibar leg? And wouldn't that keep filming pace on schedule?
And unless there was definite info on the destination of flights out of Sao Paulo there remains a possibility teams flew elsewhere in Brazil other than Rio; I don't recall seeing anything in the live sightings that definitively closed the door on that possibility.

As much as would be fun to have another leg in Brazil, 2 legs in Africa do seem more likely considering those couple days we lost them after leg 3 started on the 14th. My reasoning is: 1) there's not enough time to fly out to anywhere in Brazil remote enough (emphasis on remote enough) to get us no sightings between 06/14~15 and 2) not many flights out to Tanzania, as the production, Phil and teams would just have to get back to Sao Paulo again anyway, and the lack of flights does make the coordinating Phil arriving before teams harder.
Spec:
leg 3 - Sao Paulo, Brazil - Tanzania / Africa 1 - 06/14~15
leg 4 - Zanzibar, Tanzania - 06/16-17
leg 5 - Zanibar, Tanzania - Ålesund, Norway - 06/18-19
leg 6 - Ålesund, Norway - Lake Como, Italy - 06/20-21

3rd season, amicci. We begin in Venice, cause all waters lead to La Fenice. #MozartInTheJungle @MITJAmazon
Apparently they are filming a show called Mozart In The Jungle, an Amazon Original series.

The Pit Stop is at the Campo San Vio in Dorsoduro!

Teams in Venice
Team 4/3/11/8/1

Probably Asia is next considering we are probably at leg 7 now
Perhaps a visit to Cambodia or Vietnam?

I agree with this one. Team 9 & 6 are gone in Panama and Brazil respectively. Most likely the teams of 5 & 10 are eliminated in Zanzibar and Norway. We know for the fact that Team 2 & 7 made it to Lake Como, Italy as both were sighted at Heathrow Airport heading to Milan. Teams 1, 3, 4 , 8 & 11 are seen in Venice. I have 2 scenarios, either one of the teams (2 & 7) would survive but are still not seen or both of them are already eliminated. ???
-
Leg 6 in the last few seasons has 7 teams so 5 and 10 :( are out.
and with that UTURN last leg team 7 or 2 could be one of the eliminees. Has there been a non-elim uturn leg?

Looks like Phil is in the Procuratie Vecchie arcade outside Ristorante Gran Caffe Quadri in San Marco Square.

I must say I'm impressed by Team 11. Still here, I thought they looked like early boots for sure until they won the leg in Brazil.

I don't recall a season having a U-Turn on a NEL, but I would consider Season 27, it had a KOR and a U-Turn in Zimbabwe. The 1st Italy leg was a non-elimination?

Not sure yet. Since there is a U-Turn, I would assume someone got the boot but anything can happen.

Racers are in Campo Santa Margherita, located in the district of Dorsoduro.

Did they start the next leg?
The MM team should have checked in already.

3 more locations:
The first is in Dorsoduro, not far from the Pit Stop.
The second is basically St Mark's Square.
The third is close to the Pit Stop and jives with an earlier photo near the Ponte del Formager. Must be a confessional spot.
Map coming soon!
-
Several of the racers are seen in traditional gondolier striped shirts.
In another they are seen writing...
Some sort of gondola test????
-
Also, on picture above named "Ponte dell'Accademia.jpg", it looks like camera guy behind is maybe going inside that gallery?
-
I've never been to Venice; would they let outsiders (tourists/racers) steer their own gondola?
As for the writing, maybe it's a word puzzle or rebus like TAR26.
-
Block off a short canal, rent a gondola...sure, why not? LOL Just don't fall in, nasty water!

I don't think that's a greeter. Looks like a tourist travelling around Italy.
Sighting looks like it's on a ferry (with a large yellow circle for a helipad on the deck). The poster was last near Naples... but a third leg in Italy?
-
Could #day8 mean the start of the eighth leg?
-
Looks like it's the poster's itinerary across Italy. She started in the north (Verona, Venice) on Days 1-2 and worked her way down to Naples on Day 7. Let's check back on her Instagram account in a day to see where the ferry was headed! Tunisia? Albania? Croatia?

Some of these ferries don't run everyday, so we could narrow it down further.
Bari to Durrës (10pm departure) (Albania); Igoumenitsa, Corfu, Patra, Sami (no service on Thursdays), Zakynthos (no service on Thursdays) (Greece); Dubrovnik (10pm departure) (Croatia); Bar (Montenegro) (no service on Thursdays)
Salerno to Tunis (no service on Thursdays) (Tunisia)
Brindisi to Sarandë, Vlorë (Albania); Gaios, Igoumenitsa, Corfu, Patra, Sami, Zakynthos (Greece)
-
tunsia is out terroist attack
-
If they were to turn up in Greece, I would scream with joy.
Tunisia is not a good place for them go anymore. Is Albania safe? I don't know much about that one.
-
The poster has been hitting the major tourist destinations in Italy. If I were a teenage girl on a summer holiday, Corfu (or maybe Athens via Patras) looks pretty likely, eh?
I thought Dubrovnik would have been possible, but the 10pm departure doesn't jive with the photo in daylight.
-

Well, Albania should be safe since Albania-USA have great relations. But in other hand, it's known as country of criminal and drugs.
But I'm pretty sure that coastal cities are safe.
I'd say that they may visit Budva (Montenegro), Shkoder (Albania) - unvisited countries, or some Croatian or Greek island maybe?

Yes, it appears they are on a ferry to another country
Yay! Pls Montenegro :<3
-
This is really exciting!! I've been longing for a moving pit-stop (if that's it) and it generally excites me when they travel to the destination of their next leg in another country NOT by plane :wohoo:
-
When I searched on Google with keyword "ferry from venice", the top results are ferries between Venice and Croatia. Maybe the next destination is Croatia? ???
PS: I added a screenshot taken from http://www.venezialines.com/ for possible destinations in Croatia from Venice. Just in case that they're really going to Croatia. :)
-
The poster was last in the south of Italy, having started her trip in Verona and Venice. Unlikely she would go all the way back to Venice to board a ferry. I'm thinking the next leg has already started, with the teams traveling by land from Venice to the south to board the ferry, to a destination not directly connected to Venice (e.g. Greece).
-
Please please please a Slovenia leg!!!!! :hoot:

Her last picture before this one, was in Sorrento. That's way down south, near Naples. So from there if she wanted to come to Greece the logical thing to do was to go to Bari and from there, there are everyday several boats to Corfu, Igoumenitsa or Patra. The trip is usually done overnight.
Another option would be a ferry to Sicily or through there to Malta but they did that in TAR 25 so that's unlikely.
One last thing comes to mind maybe a ferry to Sardinia or Corsica? but that's also not very likely.
P.S. But there is a boat from Venice to Greece, it just takes 24 hours travelling. So why would they not take that, if they were coming to Greece?
-
So is it a moving pit stop? Some people have mentioned it but I don't see where it shows it was.
-
I'm speculating that this season's new country would most likely be the next leg. ???
-
Most likely not a moving Pit Stop.

In the pic posted. Teams 2, 3, 4, and the female in Team 11 are in the ferry. Not sighted is Team 1 & 8.

Treste is about 4.5 hrs + from Venice by train.
The current route on 6/23 was as below:
-
Bit of a stretch, but it is possible.... ???
-
Her Colosseum photo shows a badge and strap for EF Tours (http://www.eftours.com/educational-tours/destinations/europe); I haven't found a match yet, but the only thing that comes close to her itinerary (and includes a night ferry) is the Italy/Greece package.
-

Teams have traveled on ferries plenty of times outside of a pit stop.

There is another line that goes
Venice>>ancona
Igoumenitsa
Patra

The leg in Venice ended in the morning of 22 Jun. (Pit Stop photos have shadows pointing west.)
The ferry photo was posted at around 11pm on 23 Jun.
That leaves some 36 hours in between for a Pit Stop and for teams to travel to the ferry departure point, which as explained above is likely to be in southern Italy. (A train from Venice to Bari, for example, takes 8 hours.)

That's a LONG journey. I did that exact trip in reverse except for the stop in Ancona. Igoumenitsa to Venice was at least 17 hours. Got on the ferry in the morning and arrived in Venice the next morning. Whichever ferry they are on, if they're going Italy to Greece (or even Croatia as ferries go there from Ancona [ive done that one too], it's going to be a long trip.
-
The Venice-Greece ferry doesn't run on Thursdays.

Oh okay!! I was thinking Venice was the 23rd.
So lets look at this from her angle:
1-Verona
2-Venice
3-Pisa
4-Florence
5-Rome
6-Roman Colosseum
7-Sorrento Coast
8-
So if they are on ferry together let's assume Sorrento.
Sorrento ferries:
Amalfi
Capri
Ischia
Naples
Positana
All 20-30 min
(somebody find me one with a helipad??)
http://www.capri.net/en/ferry-schedule?from=sorrento&to=capri
Venice to Sorreto: by plane/train/car
http://www.rome2rio.com/s/Venice/Sorrento
ALL 5-8 hrs
So could we say Pitstop>>transport to Sorrento>.get on ferry>>one of above destinations?
And please oh powers that be >>let it be Capri!! :hearts:

Didn't mean Patras (s in the end; traditional Greek spelling Πατρας) in Greece? I think its a safer route by land transportation to Athens. Since the Greek economic crisis is over, its now safe for Americans.

Candi, you've covered it pretty well. I'll add that the Yakama Nation is a Native American tribe located near Yakima, WA (and Wapato). It's funny, but I just provided some information to them a couple of days ago as part of my job. I'm stunned to see their name turn up here about TAR 29 in Italy. I can't imagine why the young woman brought along her costume if she's traveling as a tourist, but I'd be surprised if her pageant duties included a trip to Europe. While I'm not particularly near Yakima, there are other tribes in my area and I don't recall hearing of any of them have their beauty queens traveling internationally. It would seem she must be making some appearances though, if she's hauling one of her tribal dresses with her.
That's one thing I like about hunting spoilers. Every so often, a connection comes up that seems so off the wall that you can't believe it, but it's true. For me, this is one of those.
-

Agree. She may be doing the "Splendors of the Mediterranean" tour. (http://www.eftours.com/eLiterature/DBD/M/SME.pdf)
Day 1: Milan to Venice. The shortest route passes by Verona so they could have made a stop there
Day 2: Venice
Day 3-4: Florence with a possibility of a daytrip in Pisa
Day 5-6: Rome
Day 7-8: Sorrento Coast and Pompeii + night ferry to Greece
This schedule seems to match her pics.
It dosen't say where they take the ferry in Italy but it's destination is Igoumenitsa
-

The Superfast 1 is currently in Patras port. http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/shipid:213812/zoom:10
Teams didn't necessarily get off in Igoumenitsa...
-
We are on the ferry to go to Greece and we spot a team for the TV show "Amazing Race"
Based on the picture, we can probably say that these teams are safe:
Floyd and Becca (Team 2)
Joey and Tara (Team 8 )
Scott and Unknown Female
Mike and Unknown Female (Team 11)
Logan and London
-
Is possible are teams went to pomeli
-
Did they start the next leg?
The MM team should have checked in already.
it's the team with two white dudes, one with a hipster beard and one leg. Maybe tattoos in the mix somewhere.
asked and she said it was this afternoon
by the way y'all rock!!! :hoot:
What was this afternoon?? ???
So apparently someone saw supposedly Team 1 that but they already checked in to the pitstop supposedly. And at this pt checking in they would have been last. ???
And they didn't show up on the ferry either. ??? Could this day after the leg be the moving pitstop? ???
This season is a huge conundrum. :funny:
Here's the pitstop pic:
-
That would not possibly be after the PitStop. Eliminated teams are separated from the rest immediately and do not hang out with them.
So...what could it be instead? ???
Fossil, please give us the link to this post, we need exact timing. Thanks!

Areopagus (Mars Hill) Athens also a possible location for filming if y'all want to help me look for evidence

There are so many countries being visited this season that haven't been visited in a while. (Panama, Brazil, Tanzania, and now Greece!) I'm hoping for more places, and hopefully, a visit to Australia!!!

That would be the icing on the cake, Australia hasn't been visited in 11 seasons now. The continent as a whole since TAR22
I just hope we don't get the usual overvisited countries in Asia :( Assuming this is Leg 8, they're probably headed there after this one.

This site has a nice pic and description! Might make a pretty PITSTOP!
Sunset at Areopagus Hill
Walking along the path from the Acropolis Museum leading toward Monastiraki you’ll see the Areopagus Hill, a rocky outcrop which has some wooden steps to allow you to climb to the top. From here you can get a great view of the Acropolis as well as over the whole city and it’s a favourite place to come at sunset as the city turns golden below you.

Hopefully we will have Australia a lot that trying to attempt a 6-continent race visit as we don't want a 5-continent race again just like TAR26 and TAR27.
I do proper understand we certainly rule out China, India, Indonesia, Japan and Malaysia. The certain Asian countries that are need to visit: Cambodia and South Korea, assuming for a 2 legs, just like TAR7 and TAR22.
-
If they're in Greece now, I think the only possible flight to Australia is to get to Oman. That way, one Asian country and one Australia... but since we have 3 more legs left, there's no other way to get to Oceania. If Oman is next, chances are they'll be in Burma, Bangladesh, South Korea , Cambodia or even Vietnam!
???
-
Chances for Australia or NZ seems so slim right now
I think we will get Cambodia / Vietnam / South Korea next
Maybe Kazahsthan?

Pretty sure it is, it's where they land astronauts returning from the space station. It got one visit in Season 13.

Imo, a 6-continent race is great, but a 5-continent one will do. It's better than a 3- or 4-continent race.
Also, we can't just rule out the countries you've mentioned. Most of us don't want them, but there's still a chance for them to be visited, which some of us hope they don't visit those places.

I have always dreamed that Oceania would be visited this season because it has been a long time and it's one of my favorite continents but it looks like a visit to Australia, New Zealand and any Pacific-island nation is dim at this time but we'll see. However, I wouldn't mind if they don't visit Oceania this season, I'd rather save the visit for a regular season. My spec is that it will be similar to the later legs of TAR 25: Europe then Asia 1 leg in 1 country and 2 legs in 1 country. We can't avoid them visiting those countries that are overvisited but who knows. Let's be optimistic, we've had many surprises in this season's route, I think there's more.

TAR asked for permission to film in archaelogical sites in Athens from 21 to 24 of June. Their local representative was a company called Boo productions.
So that means that the teams raced in Athens definitely in the 24th and today they should be departing from Athens.

I guess it was the right time to return. From the sounds of it, Greece's economy has finally stabilized somewhat since last year (that's probably what they were waiting for). Hopefully now Brexit doesn't put them back in the hole :(

Milan's airports (http://www.familyfriendlyairport.com/en/family.html) have Baby Pit Stops too, which would make more sense on this season's itinerary.

there have to be more photos out there guys, that greeter kinda stands out like a sore thumb :gnome

Athens is the birthplace of the Olympics No doubt they went for the obvious and had a sporting task, especially since that cluebox seen yesterday was at an ancient stadium.

Based on the spoilers of the Italian legs, I'm speculating that 2 elimination legs were held there, since 2 teams were not seen before the start of the Greek leg.

But leg 6 was a KOR. I mean a team could be eliminated but it's unlikely.

help!! :funny: ??? they are just departing athens?

American Airlines ,
Please take me home. After the flight from Athens to Philadelphia was delayed from 11:35 to 20:00 we were finally allowed to board the plane. They then told us that customs would not be there for us when we got there. We proceeded to sit on the plane for 2 hours. We were told to sit down and buckle up because we would be leaving shortly (the plan was to fly to EWK and go through customs then fly to PHL). We sat for another hour and 30 mins just to be told our flight was cancelled. I am now sitting in a non-moving line. It is 00:46. I just want to go home. Please send help. People are sleeping on the airport floor. There are crying, tired children, elderly stuck in wheelchairs, and dogs that just want out of their cages. I know you can do something about this. Please. Please do.

Update: I finally got a new flight. I am finally going to be heading home. It's now 5:13. But, the amazing race cast (a show I've never seen) is on our plane... Cool, I guess. Idk other people seem to think it's cool.

Well, if she is departing from Athens to Philadelphia, chances are she is going with the amazing race cast to the next location and transfer back to Philadelphia or she saw another show filming.
I wonder why people didn't snap pics.

Speculated at least, the timeline between the Lake Como and Venice sightings were pretty close.

Checking in flight stats there are flights to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Munich, London, Rome, Paris and Istanbul. And that's only until 8.00am.
-
There's Oman, which is what they followed up Greece with after the first visit.
But that season went Italy, Italy, Greece, Oman. They probably won't repeat that much of the order.
-
Out of Rome they can go anywhere.... But the 3 most interesting non-Europe ones would be Tel-Aviv, Moscow, and Dubai.
Russia might be due for a visit.
And Dubai, I assume, would be a connection to anywhere in Asia/Oceania basically.
-
Israel would make a great new country for this version. No idea whether TPTB would consider it safe enough or not, though.

Bringing Peach's post over from the sightings thread:
Almost certainly on one of these (NOT AA codeshares though) and there was a direct fight for her at 11ish... :groan:
Checking Rome next
There are these options available for the delayed poster:
From Athens via Rome to Philadelphia, 0555-0700 connecting to 1155-1555
From Athens via Amsterdam to Philadelphia, 0600-0830 connecting to 1045-1320
From Athens via Frankfurt to Philadelphia, 0610-0815 connecting to 1100-1355
From Athens via Munich to Philadelphia, 0610-0745 connecting to 1215-1515
All these have their second leg (from Europe to Philadelphia) on an American Airlines flight, although the first leg isn't.
From Rome, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Munich they could probably be headed anywhere. Most likely Asia (but not the Middle East, those have more direct connections I think).

There is a Philly bound BA flight (AA One world partner) at 8am that goes to London, but that would make for a long trip if the goal was to ultimately head east, so we could possibly rule that flight out

Why would they go to Rome to go to Tel-Aviv, Moscow or Dubai? There are direct flights from Athens to all three cities. For me the fact that they didn't take a direct flight from Athens means that they are skipping the Middle East and as it is time to leave Europe and head to Asia, they are going further east, to India and beyond.
-
Basically they can go anywhere.. there are just too many options. I agree that moving farther afield is a strong possibility, but unless we see them connect somewhere or our poster shares more info, there is no way to know.
And TAR takes connections when they want to be somewhere by a certain time...where that is beyond me, lol.
Everyone needs to be watching for airport sightings.
-
I highly doubt a (and would definitely do not want them to) visit to the Philippines this time around (so late in the Race). But if they did, it would be hilariously chaotic if they go on Thursday the 30th as it's Inauguration Day in the Philippines. lol Though it might not be as big a party/hindrance as it would have been in previous inaugurations.

Based on Neobie's find re: the Athens to Zurich flight....
These destinations pop out at me as I scroll through the list of flights out of Zurich today:
Istanbul
Cairo
Tel Aviv
Abu Dhabi
Mumbai
Dehli
Shanghai
Hong Kong
Tokyo
eta: I think the second or third group is more likely, as traveling from Athens to Zurich to get to the first group seems inconsistent.
-
Hey Jen!! :waves:
Yeah, there are better ways to go than thru Zurich. Plus we have an article suggesting VietNam at some point..could this be the long haul flight?
Time is getting short....

There's a direct flight to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City (all in Vietnam) from Paris. The flight between Athens and Paris could make a lot easier, are they really going to Vietnam?

Perhaps a visit to Cambodia or Vietnam?
Vietnam SPEC only, article from VBN (https://www.vietnambreakingnews.com/2016/05/vietnam-offers-unique-challenges-for-amazing-race-contestants/) MAY 13, 2016 , WARNING there are other TAR versions/spoilers in there "xxxx brought its Amazing Race to the country just last week, while the xxx and xxx versions are scheduled to visit the country this month, and the US version in late June.

Looks like it is:
http://fun-spot.com/the-amazing-race/
http://www.clickorlando.com/entertainment/the-amazing-race-hold-auditions-in-orlando
The Amazing Race auditions will be done in Orlando again this year! Auditions will be done on Sunday, June 26th from 10am-2pm. You will need to bring a drivers license or a passport for proof of age. Auditions will be 1 minute long per contestant.
And:
The CBS hit show “The Amazing Race” is looking for participants from the Central Florida area for an upcoming season of the show.
-
Don't count on it. Open Auditions have no bearing on what CBS plans.
Further discussion in the application thread please.

If they chose India somebody in planning messed up; the 2016 monsoon (http://www.imd.gov.in/pages/monsoon_main.php) hit Mumbai a week ago and is settling into Delhi right about now.
-
FWIW the BBC weather map (http://www.bbc.com/weather/1269750) shows area near Delhi and most of west coast of India to be clear (albeit cloudy). It's hot as hell, but that's a different story.

It would be awesome to have more rain soaked legs. =)

I'm not sure which TAR version this is, but I figured I'd put this up here and figure it out later. I've added his picture but it's pretty distant and I can't tell if the team dancing is one of our teams. Maybe your eyes are better than mine.

Is there a probability they will also race in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam?

Vietnam :<3, bit annoyed that it's Hanoi but hoping we get a train ride to central Vietnam next or Ha Long Bay.

Ho Chi Minh City is 720 miles away south from Hanoi and its raining with severe thunderstorms.

One note of caution: Georgiapeach found an article in Vietnamese about a Polish version of The Amazing Race filming in Ha Long, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Dien Bien. No mention of Hanoi. From the pictures it looks like a version of Pekin Express to me. So, it's possible this sighting was of the Polish Pekin Express, not TAR 29. I'll try to get the information about this other version up in the International board as soon as I can.

I'm doubting Australia by this point. :(

So, based on the pics in Vietnam, we know 2 of the final 4/5 teams.
-
TAR29 most likely might host two Vietnam legs.
As for penultimate legs, Japan/South Korea/Taiwan (China & HK not counted as they visited on last two seasons) would be the highest possibilities as East Asia provide multiple flights back to US which is convenience for them. In fact South Korea and Taiwan last visit was 17 and 19 respectively which both deserved for another visit, and for Japan the TARUS have the pattern to visit there every 3 interval season and the last visit was 26 which fitted the pattern for another visit. lol
Penultimate legs in SEA was less possible because it would need to go west again (except Philippines, but then it get visited on 25.), and they would need to connect East Asia airport in order back to US. (See 25 as they connect Tokyo Narita airport back to LA).

In fact, there are a dozen of penultimate Asian legs. The last three seasons had East Asia visits, Japan is totally overused that it was last visited in TAR 26. We should get an Oceania penultimate leg (probably Australia) the first time since TAR 11. Australia last visit was TAR 18 and hasn't visited since that should be taking a winter Australia leg.
Seasons without East Asia visit: TAR 3, 5, 7, 13, 22 and 25.
Overall of regional Asia visits
West Asia (Middle East): TAR 5, 9, 10, 15, 17, 23 and 28
South Asia (Indian subcontinent): TAR 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24 and 27

Any chance 2 legs were in Greece ? as in Corinth ( Peloponnese, Greece ) throwback Zulu Bungy :waves: ??
-
A second leg in Vietnam is highly possible
South Korea is most likely the choice for penultimate leg then :ascared
I really do not think there is a chance for Australia / New Zealand to be visited
If they want to make this race a 6-continent route, the most possible choice would be Guam or Fiji

some filming in Hanoi at QUAN SU TEMPLE (http://mch1.tumblr.com/post/128930365834/vietnam-quan-su-temple-hanoi-quan-su-temple) (speculation) :spy:
VIETNAM - QUAN SU TEMPLE - HANOI
Quan Su Temple is a Buddhist temple located at 73 Quan Su Street, Hanoi, Vietnam. The temple is the headquarters of the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam. Constructed in the 15th century along with a small house for visiting Buddhist ambassadors, in 1934 it became the headquarters of the Tonkin Buddhist Association and today it is headquarters for the Vietnam Central Buddhist Congregation.

The only flaw to this season is no new countries, but visiting countries barely visited sort of makes up for it
I wouldn't completely cross off no new countries yet! We still don't know where they went on leg 3, and if teams flew directly to Johannesburg from São Paulo a day trip to Lesotho or Swaziland is completely possible!
-
Yeah, and if Hanoi is leg 9, there's still one more country, still a chance to surprise us at the end with a new one.
-
I don't care new or old, if the locations and tasks within the country are fresh, it doesn't matter to me!!
-
Peach good point. And that third leg could be KENYA!!!
There are still at least 2 chances for new countries.
third Leg:
Kenya would be so fresh and juicy like a coconut. A second Brazil leg would be dry and bland and boring like like... Season 8 :lala :lala A Tanzania leg in Serengeti would be soooo cool! Even somewhere else in South Africa (referring to the continent not country)
Penultimate Leg:::: Is a new South Pacific country possible for the penultimate leg??? Samoa or Palau would be cool. Or maybe even a new Australian area.
Final Leg:::::Hawaii or Seattle would be great, Portland San Diego or San Francisco would be good but Los Angeles would make me puke. Inland western USA would be interesting cause it has been barely visited. Alaska I doubt. This sounds near impossible but maybe the route can turn out like this:
Leg-9 Hanoi
Leg-10 Australia
Leg-11 Chile or Bolivia (Western South America!!)
Leg-12 East Coast Finish (New Orleans, Orlando, Atlanta, ETC.)
-
If TAR stays to their "21 days", we need to be ready for a Finale date Friday or maybe +1-2. They will want to miss the July 4 celebrations probably too.
So...can everyone start checking and researching locations? Pick the 10 best sites in a location, and then LOOK!
Look for unusual closures, or activity.
My guesses (total spec) would be SF, Portland, Seattle, and maybe even Chicago which is WAY overdue for a Finale!!
Have fun, this is a great way to get to know a city!
:didimiss: :conf:
IF you find anything, PM me please. No future leg locations should be posted.

West Asia (Middle East): TAR 5, 9, 15, 17, 23 and 28
South Asia: TAR 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24 and 27
Central Asia (former Asian Soviet republics): TAR 13
North Asia (Siberia): TAR 14
Southeast Asia: TAR 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 28
East Asia: TAR 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 26, 27 and 28
You forgot 10 also visit Middle East (Kuwait).
Yeah, I just realized the last season featured late Oceania visit was actually 11 which I thought it was 9 instead.
Also if they indeed to visit Oceania (which I don't think they might featured this season because of keeping the tight 21 days schedule), North Pacific (Micronesia) would most likely to get a visit as opposed of South Pacific (Aus/NZ/Polynesia/Melanesia) because moving between North Pacific and Asia is more convenience compare to moving between South Pacific and Asia (IIRC only HK/Seoul/Singapore served flights Fiji and Tokyo served flights to French Polynesia, most of South Pacific island would need to connect via Aus/NZ)

Did teams make a connection when heading Guam from HK in TAR 11?
They may consider doing a Guam penultimate again to make it 6-continent
2's and 4's and 9's oceania visit are also late, all featuring fewer than 5 teams
-

2's and 4's and 9's oceania visit are also late, all featuring fewer than 5 teams
IIRC they fly to Guam from HK in TAR11 via connection on Tokyo airport, and they used Tokyo airport again leave Guam and head to Honolulu. Now other major Asian cities like Manila, Seoul & Taipei also join with Tokyo to provide non-stop flights between various North Pacific islands. (Well mainly to Guam, Palau, and Saipan Islands of Northern Mariana Islands)
Yeah all the pre-13 Oceania visit (2, 4, 5, 9, 11) was all featured in EASTWARDS route and all are no more than 5 teams while every Oceania visit since 13 was all featured in WESTWARDS route and all are no less than 8 teams.

Very indeed a lot. Vietnam Airlines does have direct destinations to either Melbourne or Sydney from Ho Chi Minh City. In such ways, there is no direct flights from Hanoi to Australia.

Ninh Binh, I have my own assumptions over the 11/5 teams based on the broken conversation

I think Ninh Binh leg is semifinal leg because my friend tells that tonight (Vietnam time), all teams will buy tickets to America *location removed** Hanoi. They are still in Ninh Binh right now.

Normally, the race always have 12 legs in one single race. I think Hanoi will be leg 9 and Ninh Binh in leg 10. We shall have two legs left to film (the penultimate leg and the final leg).

My bad, 1 Am to 7 aM, 30/6/2016.
It's 8:26 pm, 29/6/2016 in Vietnam right now.
-
My friend asks the information again and he confirms that teams will move to Korea by American Airlines.
Since we're speculating on S. Korea, let's look at some possibilities. While a repeat visit to Seoul (or neighboring Inchon) is possible, let's not rule out the second largest city, namely Busan. If they are really adventurous, there's always the popular tourist destination JeJu Island. Logistically neither is near an international airport, but still possible. That's assuming the rumors are true. This is all speculation at this point.

And whether USA is considered is always debatable. Could leave room for one more... South Africa? Kenya? Vatican? ???

We know that the race should be ending very soon.

K-Pop...Yeah, that is a pop culture aspect of Korea not touched on in their previous visits. That would be a hilarious task if they have to sing/dance to it :funny:
I remember both times, too, they did tasks at the Hantan River near the border with the North. It'd be kind of redundant if they went there again.

Y'all probably don't care :hides but I'm putting this out there Arachova, Greece as probable filming location! Will add more once the Korea/USA excitement is over :waves:
-
Assuming the leg in Korea is today, then tomorrow might be the final leg :conf:
Based on WRP's decisions regarding the ~final flight~ here are some fun options:
- DL 158 ICN DTW 1025 1020
- KE 37 ICN ORD 1040 0935
- OZ 212 ICN SFO 1630 1115
- KE 19 ICN SEA 1820 1235 (this would probably be the latest that I'd see WRP plan to have them in; 21 and 27 both started after 1pm and ended in darkness which is a wash for filming)
- KE 53 ICN HNL 2100 1050
Plus there's a bunch of flights to Tokyo or Hong Kong to theoretically connect elsewhere AND several flights to Los Angeles if, for budgetary purposes, they wish to film somewhere in Los Angeles county (summer in Palm Springs would be mean and thus I like the idea :snicker:). If there was any indication of Ford sponsorship I'd say Detroit would be an obvious choice but not knowing that I suppose any of these are good places to look at.
-
Honestly I don't buy the Korea leg yet. Unless I get all the time zones jumbled, the leg should be over and we missed them, which is puzzling. ???
-
Could it end in Hawaii?
-
Just some spec:
- If we accept Arachova, then we should maybe rule out Zulu bungy at Corinth (on opposite shores)

TAR asked for permission to film in archaelogical sites in Athens from 21 to 24 of June. Their local representative was a company called Boo productions.
So that means that the teams raced in Athens definitely in the 24th and today they should be departing from Athens.

Richmond seems sort of small to host a final leg. It may be a local race or an extension of a DC final (although Richmond is about 2 hours away from DC).
-
It would be nice to see Final Legs in "smaller" cities. And Richmond definitely has lots of historical locations for possible tasks.
-
Just to set the record straight, Richmond, CA does not have an airport. I don't think they even have one for small private planes. However, teams could fly into San Francisco or Oakland, which both have international flights and then drive or take a taxi or BART.
I think it's highly unlikely they would go to Richmond though. I'm not sure what they would do there besides go to an oil refinery. Richmond, VA would seem far more likely. It's also about the same size as Santa Barbara (I think).
-
Just to set the record straight, RICHMOND VA has nothing to do with us. Let's all not go flying off cuckoo please?
-
Any chance 2 legs were in Greece ? as in Corinth ( Peloponnese, Greece ) throwback Zulu Bungy :waves: ??
However their are trains to Korinthos (http://www.eurail.com/europe-by-train/greece) :badhorse: , Petrakos has tagged Monastiraki #amazingrace more than once here (http://www.pikore.com/kostaspetrakos) , maybe a quick "jump" for a clue before heading to the airport? :trampb:
Suburban Proastiakos trains connect:
Athens – Korinthos and vice versa in 1 hour and 20 min
Athens (Central Railway Station “Stathmos Larissis”) – the E. Venizelos/Airport of Athens and vice versa in 45 min
Korinthos (New Railway Station) – the E. Venizelos/Airport of Athens and vice versa in 1 hour and 20 min

Sorry, but that was what I was looking for. Do they broadcast it LIVE the same day it is recorded? Not broadcast is different than not taped if they do it on different days..
strange...
They have live broadcast of M!Countdown on every thursday 6:00 KST
BUT
30/6's broadcast is cancelled due to the broadcast of KCON in NYC
-
I gonna spec they finish before july 4 so the finale leg should be tomorrow.
Assuming there in Seoul, which I don't buy yet, they should have left by now.
-
So if that flight to Seoul is correct, maybe the penultimate Leg is actually and finally a visit to Vladivostok, Russia. :snicker: :conf:
Easy connection through Seoul with daily flights. Might explain no sightings?
-
Richmond would be an amazing place to have a leg, tons of history. But w/no International airport, highly doubtful.
I live in Richmond, VA. Some reality type filming was spotted but we could not confirm what it was. 4 or 5 maroon/red SUVs and teams of two with backpacks and very professional cameramen on foot. All SUVs looked the same and had out of town plates from the same state.
Got some video, but wanted to see if anyone else local saw anything before I'm completely wrong.
We do have an international airport, but obviously not as big as DC

I'm not completely sure yet. I haven't watched amazing race in a while (don't shame me!) but when the pairs got into the cars the sped off really fast for the cameras, then stopped and got out to the backseat and other drivers took over...is that weird?
The 4 or 5 SUVs had Michigan plates. I'm not sure how many teams would be left.
There was a note/clue attached to the steering wheels.
Can't find anything on our local news. Had one friend state it could be a new reality show called "the runner"
If I hear anything else I'll let you all know! :) but don't yell at me if I'm wrong!

There is a movie called "The Runners" that has been filming. Not sure where, but the story is set in East Texas, so I'm not sure they would have filmed in Richmond, VA. Anyway, their Facebook page says they wrapped up filming a couple of days ago on the 29th.

Yeah, I just found information about The Runner. It's supposed to be starting today, so it could well be that. That could be starting anywhere. Looks like an interesting idea from the trailer I saw.

Cameraman spotted at Wrigley taking shots of signage. Expect more activity soon. :wohoo:

Since final leg should be start anytime by now, let's start to speculate the final destination.
Here's the list of flight destination between US cities and Seoul. (Only non-stop flights and their final destination visit are listed)
Atlanta (19 finale)
Chicago (6 finale)
Dallas (5/26 finale)
Detroit
Honolulu/Hawaii (14/20 finale)
Las Vegas (15/24 finale)
Los Angeles (17/25/28 finale)
New York (1/10/21/27 finale)
San Francisco (2/11/16 finale)
Seattle (3 finale)
Washington DC (22 finale)
Discounting LA/Dallas/NY (Just held finale there on last few seasons), and LV (The sole non-stop flights arrive on evening):
Honolulu/SF/Seattle for West Coast, Chicago/Detroit for Midwest, Atlanta/Washigton DC for East Coast and South.
Most likely a non-LA west coast finish would happen, but still don't rule out other region since region like Midwest finish being only used on 6.
Edit: Wait, is the Midwest finish *FINALLY* being held?

The two teams spotted thus far in Chicago are:
Team 8 - Tara and Joey
Team 3 - Scott and Brooke
The orange team is not Team 10, as one photo clearly has the female racer's (Brooke) partner also in orange, with red hair and caucasian, whereas the male racer on Team 10 is of african-american descent.

Orange 1st
Blue 2nd
L.Blue 3rd
Blue left and L.Blue too but they ran back.
Orange never left.
-
Is that team Logan & London?
-
I think it's:
1. Orange
2. Light blue
3. Blue F + Orange M, with yellow cap/bandanna
We saw orange team and blue team enter Wrigley Field early on. So far only blue has left. Yellow was finishing the (previous) hot dog task as they ran down Clark from the north (from Wrigleyville Dogs). They then dropped the box and returned to Wrigley Field from the east (from Sheffield Ave) to enter.
-
It's probably sometime like they have to correctly assemble and sell x number of hot dogs.
I see a creative possibility for a memory task here, but highly doubtful they'd do it. Making a hot dog that incorporates an ingredient from each country.
-
Given that the drone guys rushed out for the departure of the blue team, I expect them to do the same thing before the other teams leave too.
-
Orange left? couldn't tell
but guy had abox
-
Steve Anderson @cubsphan76 1m1 minute ago
They're filming The Amazing Race at Wrigleyville Dogs across the street. Apparently they have to memorize what makes a Chicago hotdog.
Curious, assuming they went from Wrigleyville Dogs with the hot dog recipe directly to Wrigley field, why did they all enter the front door from the south? curious... :grins: or are Yelp directions wrong?
-
Yellow team was asking for Sheffield Ave while holding onto their box. They then ran south across the street, reappearing soon after from the east along Addison without the box.
So they had to drop the box off first.
-
Just out of curiosity, looked up what a Chicago hot dog consists of. Yeah, it's pretty complicated
"A Chicago-style hot dog, Chicago Dog, or Chicago Red Hot is an all-beef frankfurter on a poppy seed bun, originating from the city of Chicago, Illinois. The hot dog is topped with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices or wedges, pickled sport peppers and a dash of celery salt. The complete assembly of a Chicago hot dog is said to be "dragged through the garden" due to the many toppings." (Wikipedia)

Drone... :funny:

Give or take a minute or two!
3:29pm: Orange team enters Wrigley Field
4:00pm: Blue team enters Wrigley Field
5:20pm: Yellow team delivering box, running south along Clark
5:27pm: Blue team leaves Wrigley Field
5:28pm: Yellow team enters Wrigley Field
It's a darned long task!

It's interesting how the top 2 in Leg 9 did not make the final 3.
Pretty sure Team 11 was out on Leg 8.
One of Team 3,4 or 8 finished last on Leg 9. Leg 9 was a non-elim bc all these teams were spotted later.
Leg 10/11 were elim legs.
-
So basically, we can conclude now the teams who entered the finale were:
1. Scott and Brooke
2. Tara and Joey
3. ?
-
If 5:50pm for the orange team is correct, what a range of times!
Orange team took around 2h20 inside Wrigley Field. Blue team took 1h27. Orange M/Blue F only took 37min!
-

Either a production delay / extended pitstop or a 'super-long' final leg in two cities/locations (ie Alaska/Chicago). We've had such a thing happen before. Or something else completely. :grins:
-
I see 10 flags and 11 cities listed.
-
So does this basically confirm two things we've waffled over? :D South Korea is indeed our last country, and there was no country between Brazil and Tanzania.
-
What if the numbers are the teams placements?

wait is Alaska is confirm

So does this mean leg 3 Dar Es Salaam?

but where in the hell did they go in seoul

waffled? I think we knew there was a leg between Brazil & Stone Town = Dar es Salaam , and Seoul we had after Ninh Binh ???
found it ... I think Seoul was edited out *future location spoiler*
I think Ninh Binh leg is semifinal leg because my friend tells that tonight (Vietnam time), all teams will buy tickets to America *location removed** Hanoi. They are still in Ninh Binh right now.
My friend asks the information again and he confirms that teams will move to Korea by American Airlines.

I think it's a rough, they visited Gamboa in Panama but that's not there. If they included all towns the lost would become too long so it doesn't mean Arachova/Delphi weren't visited.

The flags above the scoreboard appear to be the normal ones at Wrigley, giving the names of baseball teams. Probably not important for us.

Just a little history lesson on the flag mast atop the scoreboard at Wrigley: the pennants represent the fifteen Major League Baseball teams and are hoisted from left to right (win-loss) and top to bottom based on their seasonal stats. On Thursday, the Chicago Cubs lost to the Mets. There is usually a pennant of the Cubs logo flying in the middle of the mast after a victory. (They are playing against the Mets again live right now on an away game.) And so nobody messes with that! I doubt the officials of Wrigley gave Bertram and Elise permission to allow teams to screw around with the mast.

I checked Twitter and Instagram tonight and have found a possibility that the Finish Line COULD have been at Soldier Field. No recent postings of the location in the past 15 hours except last night's Guns N Roses rock concert. There is a concert tomorrow with the same group so perhaps their entourages cleaned up their sets overnight or in the morning just to make room for TAR? Fingers crossed.

With a beautiful Chicago scenery in the background at the overlook for a photo finish and in an "isolated" part of the city near the city's water treatment center, I could definitely see this as a Finish Line location more so than Soldier Field!
Sidetrack convo: I remember training for a marathon at that park with a friend, and after finishing my regimen one day, I raced her to the shoreline of the nearby Ohio Street Beach. I fell face first into Lake Michigan that day.

Oh my goodness, the crowns have the Vienna Beef logo! :trampb: I will wholeheartedly assume the teams had a task dealing with the Vienna beef hot dogs back at the diner. Best local dish you will ever eat in the Lake View community of Chicago! (Sorry Hutch's Lakeview Skillet!)

With a beautiful Chicago scenery in the background at the overlook for a photo finish and in an "isolated" part of the city near the city's water treatment center, I could definitely see this as a Finish Line location more so than Soldier Field!

I think this exact location fits perfectly for the Finish Line mat.

Back on this hat theory. I will give a re"cap":faint: and further info on the task based on other leads by live sighters and RFFers who brought it to attention.
The crowns from the Wrigleyville Dogs sport a lovely "V" logo, matching this...

In the diner, one of the menu items is a Vienna Beef hot dog, the ultimate meal in a bun and a local staple in Lake View. Our wonderful RFFer, fossil, brought out Steve Anderson's tweet...

They're filming The Amazing Race at Wrigleyville Dogs across the street. Apparently they have to memorize what makes a Chicago hotdog.
Now here is a picture of what the teams have gotten themselves into...

And here is what the correct order of the ingredients are!

Fits if they take the blue line from O'Hare to Jackson, then head east to Millenium Park!
Then head north to the old Water Tower, where the horse carriages are.
Then north again to Wrigleyville Dogs, ending their task at Sheffield Ave.
Then to Wrigley Field for a final memory challenge.
Then Pit Stop.
Is the orange team a decoy? They're blatantly wearing Amazing Race caps and without their bags. They were seen at Monroe (red line), Millenium Park and Wrigleyville.
Blue team was seen at Millenium Park, Old Water Tower and Wrigley Field.
-
hmmm.. what are they doing on the Chicago Metro Blue Line (Monroe Station)?
Just next door, they're on the red line! Hmm taking it four stops north would bring you to the Chicago red line stop and the Old Water Tower.
-
Team 4 also wear those TAR cap.
Teams can send their backpack beforehand in the final and will be back to take them later. This is not the first time a team did something like that.
-
Sounds like a Chicago hotdog is no joke, huh?
It's like making a burger using poppyseed hot dog buns instead. If you put ketchup on a hot dog at Wrigleyville, you might get weird looks at you. (It's my favorite dish on their menu including eating the whole sport peppers, yum!)

Two teams in that picture.
Why is the road blocked off, do we know?
Smart teams check through their bags on the last leg. To be carrying a full pack on the finale leg is crazy. At least lighten the load.
Has anyone else noticed the presence of a "minder" running with the teams this season? I noticed them on the Venice leg as well. Guess they are useful for handling fans/requests for selfies/etc.

In case y'all were wondering where the Wrigley webcam was, well it's right here (Sports World Chicago). :snicker: (note: updated with latest photo)

Ninh Binh:
So last year I actually traveled to Ninh Binh. It's a few hours by bus from Hanoi and is referred to as "halong bay on land". It has GORGEOUS mountains just popping straight up out of the land. You can walk up a super tall staircase to the top of one (about 30-45min up if I remember correctly) to a giant golden dragon and overlook the whole area.
There is also a river system that goes through and around the mountains. Unique fact: the boat drivers row using their feet. They lean back on their seat and use their feet to row, which could inspire some type of rowing challenge.
There are also a lot of rice fields.
The city itself is nothing special, I think they'd have gone straight out to these mountain ranges for the tasks. It's going to be an absolutely stunning location.

If its in downtown then it should be because of the Taste of Chicago. Also, I have some sightings from O'hare but dunno if they will be of any use. Sorry I'm new here :/

I have this sighting from O'hare from yesterday morning. I think they probably came from Incheon because they were there at the right time for them to have just landed from the flight from Incheon. The amazing Coke Zero 400 stock car race was held at Chicagoland Speedway today.
pretty sure Daytona was the Coke Zero 400, I watched it :) I can't find any events on July 2 at Chicagoland
Maybe all the Chicago sightings were a fake ending, and Chicagoland Speedway was the real finale? Speculation and Discussion of **SPOILERS**

Interesting...could explain why we didn't see the racers in downtown Chicago till later in the day. Raceway could have been the first destination after arriving on a early flight (from Seoul?) maybe. Food for thought.
BTW, Olive Park was the finish line, as we have already speculated.
-
Well you know finales, they like to start off with something exciting that will look good for the previews. And a raceway would certainly fit the bill.
Making hot dogs, eh not so much :P

Exactly... but we need those nit-picky little tasks that frustrate the racers just before the dash to the finish line.... (kinda like assembling IKEA furniture) :funny: ...frustrates the hell out of me.. :grins:
-
I can also confirm that the Speedway was the first task of the day. *VROOOM*
Racers were heard asking for these locations;
City Hall
Wabash Bridge
Buckingham Fountain
What is not known is whether someone had told them a way to go using Bridge so they were asking for a landmark, or is that a location, and if there was a clue box or anything else at fountain. But again, those locations were asked for SPECIFICALLY.
Water Tower may be a team going to the wrong location. :(
Then we have hotdog task to fit in here I think..
Then Wrigley for memory.
Milton Olive Park for Finish.
Anything missed?? ???
Neobie...may we have a MAP?? :hearts:

Sounds about right IF they arrived from Korea aboard non-stop Korean Airlines flight KE37 which lands at approx. 9:30AM... given time for deplaning, customs, immigration... I'd say this fits the "around 11 o'clock" sighting estimate. curious..... :umn:
Edited to add: OK, according to Peach, looks like they were a little late in arriving.. even better :snicker:

Just thinking out loud here.... as to why teams were not spotted going into/out of Korea.
Flying from Vietnam to Seoul not a problem, probably a lot of locals do not know about the show. Perhaps the Korea leg was a night leg or not entirely in Seoul. That would explain a lack of sightings. Now comes the hard part, why no one has posted ANY pix of them going to Chicago (excluding our one sighting at O'hare), regardless of the origin point. Surely there were some Americans on the flight. A mystery for sure. Time will tell, as more posts could be coming after the Holiday.
-

Fantastic! I was all set to skip TAR29 when I found out that the one women's team got tossed second. But I'll give it a watch now that it looks like the one men's team also got the boot at one point.
Not so happy it seemed to happen so late in the game, though.

So, we know who the final 3 teams are, right? Problem is that they all look the same.

Unfortunately for me, they all look so similar to the point that I didn't care at one point who the F3 teams were. :funny:
Personal speculation, I think the teams I'll be rooting for, a.k.a. favorite teams, won't make it to the final leg, again.

In the same way, I'm surprised we got no pics from them at GRU leaving for Africa, the lack of sightings there is troubling, considering how many enthused fans we had around for the Sao Paulo leg the day before. It bothers me how much trouble we're still having to really locking down what was leg 3, whether that was Tanzania 1 or another African country altogether.

In claude's opinion: no evidence yet.
In regards of the premiere date which is April 21st, 2017, the 2-hour premiere would show Panama and Brazil in the broadcast. Just like as the two-hour premiere of TAR 15 (Japan and Vietnam 1) back in 2009.
-
Remember that we have 22 INDIVIDUALS to Introduce, not 11 teams. I hope that most of the first hour will be Introducing them, and perhaps the schoolyard pick. That would be my choice, having our viewers fall in love with this cast is CRUCIAL.
But we don't know, can only hope.
-
I see your point Peach, but I think it would not turn out great either way.
If the premiere is indeed 2 legs, we will not get to know the cast members as well.
But a 2-hour-long episode with just 1 leg? Hell, I imagine it would seem slow-paced and not help excite the viewers at all.
I think they might do similar introductions as Survivor does - only some people get confessionals to describe themselves at the start of the premiere, then some introductions are stuffed in between the episode and a good portion is just left out, or given the spotlight in the coming episodes.
-
But a 2-hour-long episode with just 1 leg? Hell, I imagine it would seem slow-paced and not help excite the viewers at all.
But remember that LA is a leg of its own, complete with a task, then the pick. I think meeting the teams, then seeing all that would be a full leg. Keep in mind we have 42 minutes. At one minute per racer, that gives us only 20 min left for all the LA drama, task/pic/airport. I think that could be a full and exciting leg.

Since we are having that schoolyard pick, which resulted in Show content
9 MF teams
, I hope audiences don't correlate it with TAR 26 and stop watching the show. :tantrum I think the season's twist could go either way honestly.
-
^ I'm already sensing loads of negative Facebook comments to be honest. :(
Oh, Peach, I had forgotten that LA had a task! That actually changes everything, then it would work really well with the 2-hour premiere showing just 1 leg. :P

IMO, I think it's too long to have an hour to introduce the inviduals. Maybe half an hour and then a hour and a half to do tasks/drama?

Peach said "at one minute per racer," so that would mean 22 minutes. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :cheer:
-

We don't have an hour. A one hour show is about 42-43 minutes of actual footage. I think the first hour could be plenty full with just racer Intros, LA task, team formation, and airport drama. But we'll see!
-
Also bear in mind, that Phil will need plenty of time to introduce the season's twist and to explain to the racers how everything is going to work. So yeah, I don't see it working in a 42-minute episode. And I'd rather them introduce the cast properly (each racer, without omissions) so that the audience is more drawn in to the contestants.
The way we're discussing this makes it feel like the premiere's next month or something  But nope:/

Maybe they'll run the intro in normal edition after the schoolyard pick?
-
I'm so sure I can say it's impossible. There's a task before the schoolyard pick, which has to take a good deal of airtime and then the schoolyard pick is another few minutes. And I HOPE that they introduce the individuals before hand. So they definitely won't air the season intro halfway through the first hour (or even later).
-
Maybe they will introduce the racers as they finish the first task and pick their partner. That would be awfully long though.
Maybe introduce all 22 at once, that would also be long, but not as long. wait until to see.
Hopefully they will do a long intro we can watch online first.
-
Maybe they'll run the intro in normal edition after the schoolyard pick?
That what I think they will do. Go straight into the task at the gallery and then do the schoolyard park and then as they move to LAX, do the intro. This should be about 30 minutes in.
-
The intro is always shown a few minutes in though.

I can see this season having an introduction where Phil first explains the twist with emphasis on "teams becoming individuals", next shows 11 of the individuals in their hometown, and then proceeds into the race with their potluck partner further introducing the other half of the racers. Hopefully this will be a 2-hour premiere and not a measly one hour. The new team intro during season 27 might have an influence on this perhaps for time's sake because I can't remember an example of one competition that has had more than 20 different individualized players to show off and that seems extremely time-consuming. Unless it's actually Survivor that has reached this milestone?? I don't know. Haven't invested myself to watch that show thoroughly in eons.
Also, with this type of team format, I am interested in what kind of team relationship or Twitter tag the editors will try to portray.
-
It is a two-hour premiere, Rachel.

Nice catch!
It would be our first self-driving premiere since TAR20 :o

There is def self driving this season. We also see others driving.

YAY! I LOVE seeing the team's self-drive and then get themselves lost!

Yeah I know there is, just wasn't expecting it in Panama.
-
I recognise the bridge that had the bungee jump. I'm pretty sure it was at the Corinth Canal from Season 9.
-
So the mountain climbing is probably either Tanzania or Norway?
-
Only Mountain climbing I remember from Tanzania would be Mt Kilimanjaro...it is mostly plains.
-
So the mountain climbing is probably either Tanzania or Norway?
As my gut thinks that the mountain climbing is probably Vietnam because Ninh Binh has limestone rocks.

Problem is that we saw Liz and Michael doing it, who are believed to be eliminated before Ninh Binh
-
After watching the 1st episode, I checked the timeline thread.
What happened to Seth & Olive!? :o :ascared :gnome Hmmm... possible 9th place curse. Perhaps they were that much of a threat?
So Francesca & Jessie were the defaulted ones. I'll only see next week whether that had an impact on their elimination or not.
Since I know F3 spoiler, Tara choosing Joey was such a good choice! :bunny I like how she thought that just because he finished last doesn't mean he's a bad partner. Well, I'll see how their race will go later on, but from underdog first impression to F3? Wow!
It's interesting to see how LoLo are staying low for the 1st 2 legs. ??? I wonder if it was a strategy that paid off.
With 3 W-turns this season, I think the stronger teams got their boots there. I'll only know when the W-turn episodes air, but right now that's just my guess.
-
One of the U-turns has a plate of baklava next to it, so I'm pretty sure there is a U-Turn in Greece
-

That's not a baklava, but the U-turn is in Greece and most likely in Arachova. The table and the ribbons match the ones in the pictures from that blog from Arachova. You can see on the table a plate of greek salad with feta cheese, black olives, a plate of something (might be stuffed vine leafs with rice) with a sauce with lemon and eggs and what you saw as baklava it's actually spinach pie.
-
We saw that rock climbing task.
Could that have been in the Panama episode whilst it was a 90 minute premier but when it changed to normal they had to cut it out?
-
The season promo from last night is up...can we take any screencap discussion from that over there please? Then we'll be in one place!
:tu
-
Looking at the timeline:
Wouldn't it make sense for the Basket bikes to take place in Ninh Binh? I feel it's less likely to occur in Hanoi but I have no evidence for this.
Also, I kinda think there will be no Dar Es Salaam leg because we only evermore see Zanzibar in previews, Phill never says Dar or Tanzania but Zanzibar. Teams may just transit similar to S11.
-
Dar es Salaam was one of the cities listen on the sign in Wrigley Stadium so I feel like it's gotta host a leg in some capacity (like how 'Panama City' was listed despite the actual tasks occurring in Gamboa).
-
In a sneak peak posted on youtube for episode 2, Jessie says "on our way to the heliport" while in a taxi in daylight. So are they not signing up for helicopters for morning departure?
-
I also have a theory (rather out there, but still a theory) for the whole "do we have a Dar es Salaam leg or not."
What we know:
1. Teams left Sao Paulo on June 14, meaning they should arrive in Tanzania on the 15th
2. The Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam flight was scheduled to arrive at 2:55 pm, and if teams took a flight to Zanzibar, it would arrive at 4:30 pm
3. Sunset was at 6:16 pm that day for both locations (only 3 hours and 20 minutes of daylight for Dar es Salaam, 1 hour and 45 minutes for Zanzibar)
4. Teams were said to be at the Zanzibar airport on the morning of the 18th, meaning that they finished Leg 4 in Zanzibar
5. The episode 3 description says the race is in Zanzibar
6. Dar es Salaam is on the Wrigley Field scoreboard
So that all leads to my crazy theory: Legs 3 and 4 will follow the formula of TAR 27's TBC legs in Zambia and Zimababwe!
Leg 3:
Teams land in Dar es Salaam on the 15th at 2:55 pm
They do a task or two
Then they sign up for dhows for the next morning to Zanzibar (I think I recall seeing a screencap of dhows in some promo)
Then land in Zanzibar (meaning the description is correct) on the 16th
They do a task or two there
And then reach Phil and they continue racing.
Leg 4:
Continue racing that day.
-
From the promo we know that there are 3 U-turns. Every one has a different setting that fits the place it is in. One is definitely in Arachova, Greece. The Blind U-turn is decorated with palm leaves and bamboo(?) and at the back you can see the sea and boats. Could that be in Zanzibar? That would fit the Zambia-Zimbabwe repeat that Ian just speculated.
Finally the third is placed in a leafy place with a gold border and the number 2 is written in Roman Numerals as II. Maybe Lake Komo, Italy? But that would mean that we have all the U-turns early in the race one after another.
-
I just LOVE how good the U-Turns look!

There is a picture of that Roman numeral U-Turn board taken on the day the leg was filmed. It was the Lake Como leg. So we have the U-Turns on legs 3/4 (that background looks like where teams are shown in Zanzibar in the season preview), 6, and 8. I like it as teams won't expect them so close together.
-
According to Wikipedia (yes I know, yell at me), that we have 2 legs in Tanzania????
Is that true?
-
According to Wikipedia (yes I know, yell at me), that we have 2 legs in Tanzania????
Is that true?
Yes. The first leg will take place in Zanzibar (Pemba Island) while the other half of the second leg will partly take place in the nation's largest city and former capital Dar es Salaam.
-
Excuse mo for being out of topic but did they really go to north korea?
-
Lets see if I get the right placements for the teams for this leg :hoot: :hoot:
-
Looks like someone stole our timeline. Could you please give us the link to that page? Thanks!
Route can be seen in the timeline. But be careful lots of spoilers!

A random throwaway line from Vanck & Ashton:
Ashton: We found something in common!
Vanck: Maybe by Leg 5 we'll find three more (:
Potential foreshadowing of them maybe winning Leg 5? :funny:
-
So for Leg 5, we have what appears to be a roadblock climbing up the bonfire tower, a detour option involving carrying torches, and Floyd skydiving. Since we already have a roadblock and skydiving would be an odd detour to pair up with something with torches, and we have only seen Floyd skydiving, so unless it's a Season 27, Leg 6 situation, I think that skydiving is a Fast Forward
-

:funny:
No, they did NOT go to North Korea. However, they did go to South Korea in Leg 10 (I think)

Maybe Vanck was only making a bad math joke. (Leg 5 minus Leg 2 = 3!?) :umn:

Heh. Even if we don't refer back to our detailed timeline, we'd just have to point to the picture taken from the final leg, for the board that could be viewed for the memory challenge.

Any idea or opinion on this season NEL/TBC placings so far?
Edit: I can only guess Leg 4 and Leg 9 being the 1st and final NEL respectively due to the 2 hour schedule.

I guess it would be Leg 4, 7 and 9 as we know that Leg 6 and Leg 8 have u-turns
So Leg 5 > 8th place
Leg 6 > 7th place
Leg 8 > 6th place
Leg 10 > 5th place
Leg 11 > 4th place
-
We also have sighting of seven teams starting/in leg 6 and six teams aboard the ferry in leg 8 so mathematically leg 7 probably has to be an NEL.
(that said I wouldn't put it past WRP to slot a U-tun on an NEL this season :sab:)

Is it usual that every season gets 3 non elimination legs?
Yep.

Seasons 25 & 26 even had 4 (well, one was a keep-on-racing leg) due to the final four twist.

Seasons 25 & 26 even had 4 (well, one was a keep-on-racing leg) due to the final four twist.
Seasons 1-2, 5, 7-9, 11 and 19 also have 4 NELs as well (with two seasons of NELs were midpoint legs and 19 was also a KOR leg). The final leg of season 8 was a superleg without a midpoint.

Ok, not sure where to post this...but this is our chance to ask the racers!
Sara and Logan are asking us to ask them questions about the race!!!!

From the speculated NEL and W-turns, I'm now thinking Matt & Red returned the favor to Vanck & Ashton. At the same time, Liz & Mike were probably enough of a threat to be U-turned in Greece. ??? Not really sure; just speculating.

That is what I am thinking too
If so, this season will be the sixth season that all u-turns (or part of the W-turn are successful in eliminating teams since season 14, 16, 17, 18, 26)
-
I'm not seeing it mentioned anywhere, but Scott & Brooke's placements currently align with the numbers next to the cities on the Wrigley Field board (all be it the Zanzibar leg where they moved from 7th to 6th after Becca & Floyd had their passport drama), so that has to be what the final memory task involves...

All are their leg placements so far
Noticed that the other two rows are blank
Myabe teams have to shoot their own placement every leg?
For Seoul, the number is 1.
I can't imagine that they can actually win a leg with Brooke's constant meltdown :funny:

The number of Wrigley Field board is further matched with Brooke & Scoot's leg placement for Leg 6 and 7
So basically we can conclude
(1) the memory challenge involve teams's leg placement
(2) Brooke and Scoot are in first at the memory challenge (two blank columns besides )
-
Please correct me if I'm wrong on speculate Brooke & Scott placement for next few legs based on the Wrigley Field board pic.
Leg 8: Athens - 3rd
Leg 9: Hanoi - 4th
Leg 10: Ninh Binh - 2nd
Leg 11: Seoul - 1st
Can't believe they generally perform well on Asia legs and even won the South Korea leg judging their current performance and edit.

Well, there's one correct speculation.
-
Well we will get a 2 possible switchback in 2 hours special... ( but they didn't say that there will be a 2 hours special episode on the preview ??? )
- leg 9 : Bungee jumping in Corinth Canal ( season 9 )
- leg 10 : Bring a basket in Vietnam ( Tar 3 )
But still confuse if they will air 2 hours episodes, as on the preview they didn't stated that...
-
They mentioned it.
-
They mentioned it.
I just watch it on AXN asia and they didn't said that (or maybe i misheard or missed something :groan: ??) well must rewatch the preview to make it sure...
-
I think it's because the episodes can be separated, and it's just aired as a double episode next week. I won't trust AXN's schedule anymore. The Norway leg did not reflect from the website's schedule to the actual schedule.
-
Ok so when was the last time the leg start with teams perform a task before travel to another country? Also it just insane they going from Athens to Corinth Canal (approximate 50 miles or 80km) perform the bungee jumping and then back to Athens again taking flights to Hanoi.
-
Not for this task...who WOULDN'T want to see this?? 50 miles is nothing....
-

Well I will follow the US guidelines since the preview hadn't said about double episodes...

TAR27 Zimbabwe-France (which was also a bungee jump of sorts)
I remember that incident when team open the first clue and find it is a roadblock :funny:

So...
- Either the race went through South Korea (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,32175.msg1194367.html#msg1194367) without getting noticed, which leaves me impressed
- Or we don't know enough about searching Korean media and social sites, which leaves me disappointed.
-
Yeah, like the only thing on that leg is there's possibly some sort of K-Pop task. We'll see that leg for basically the first time in the preview at the end of tonight.

Street Fighter isn't a Korean game, is a Japanese game. StarCraft and League of Legends are popular video games in South Korea as youngsters enjoy playing the game after class hours.

It's not just about the youngsters playing, but like StarCraft, LOL, DOTA, there is also competitive tournaments for Street Fighter and other fighting games (surprised they didn't go with Smash Brothers more acessible, unless there's Capcom or Sony PS4 sponsorship for the leg). The weird thing is that there are not that many South Koreans among the top players:

Take your rant to the proper thread. ;)
PS:
1. So what? They ran a perfect race in the finale, they deserved it. Is there a rule stated that a team that complained a lot and the most annoying cannot win?
2. Watch BB or Survivor if you want someone with good social skills/attitude win.
