They're getting ready to tape this already? I thought the spring seasons don't tape till October or November!
I can remember an Australian canceled leg on TAR 25, maybe? I don't know why they didn't make it for TAR 26 or 27. Maybe on TAR 28? I hope so, Oceania needs a visit!
How do we know that they were never replaced?
Is it safe to say France and Netherlands won't get a visit in S28? I think it is
Oceania needs a visit-long overdue - Australia
More Asia legs- maybe Phillipines, Hong Kong, Beijing, Cambodia etc
New Asia Countries- Laos, Nepal
Maybe no Africa because it was visited for 4? seasons
Russia?
India could be a possibility.
More South America legs- Bolivia, etc.
Cancelled legs are rarely if ever rescheduled intact... too many variables I think. So doubtful.I believe I read about the spec during race filming on the specu-discussion threads somewhere when teams were actually en route to Singapore from Valletta.
And what was the basis for a spec missed leg in 25 in Qatar? ???

As for the likely westward route, this would be a good time for an Australia/NZ opening Leg(s) with a few Asian Legs toward the middle of the Race.
South Korea has declared a "de facto end" to the MERS outbreak (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/28/world/asia/south-korea-government-declares-end-to-mers-outbreak.html) and can hopefully be "MERS free" by September (http://news.sciencemag.org/asiapacific/2015/07/south-korea-may-not-be-declared-mers-free-until-september).
So Korea is likely available for TAR28.
Along with that, Vietnam is also likely for TAR28 as well and that country get a chance to visit Central Vietnam, hasn't visited since TAR3 and was done recently by international versions. I prefer South Korea and Vietnam are the two Asian countries to be visited.
I think a double leg in Australia is almost guaranteed; it's time for a return to Oceania, and it happens to be the summer down south.

Africa is a tossup, not certain what countries are left to visit. One probable selection would be South Africa, though.
Out of the Scandinavian countries, for some reason Finland has never had a Pit Stop :(
TAR 6 did a couple of tasks in Helsinki and left.
Just a small bitching here. I bet TAR28 might have another visit to Germanophone countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) very winter season since TAR14 which was overused. :gaah:
Phil said that TAR 27 was a result of them listening to what the fans want. Hopefully TAR 28 will continue the trend. Visit undervisited countries and new ones as well.

I wanted to talk with Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri, executive
producers of "The Amazing Race," about the future of the show and found them
easily. When I told them fans had been concerned that CBS had lost faith in the
show, they said that wasn't their impression at all. And in more good news, they
said they had just met with the network and were casting another season to
follow the one airing in the fall.

Marketing three weeks in advance before the premiere do help shows get further attention. Appealing action shots and engaging previews helped Scorpion and it continues to do so for long-running Big Brother too. Why not try it out for TAR? Season 17 neared and reached 12 million viewers partly because of Claire's watermelon smash video.Yeah, TAR needs to make sure to have some kind of viral social media-ready task for the TAR28 premiere. Something interesting and funny that they can use to help promote the premiere, especially with a possible Super Bowl (or Super Bowl pre-game/post-game) commercial spot. They'll need something that pops out instantly in a 15 or 30 second commercial.
The Super Bowl would be a shoe-in for better ratings and more viewers. But unless a sponsor like FitBit, Ford, or Travelocity generously pitches in for the cause, I can only continue seeing TAR being promoted during playoffs. A 15-sec advertisement during GSB50 would cost at bare minimum: a season's cash amount of first place prizes including the $1 million + then some.Marketing three weeks in advance before the premiere do help shows get further attention. (Maybe something with teams rolling around in a mud pit with pigs? :yess:) haha
Since season 26-27 both visited South America, & 25-27 visited Africa, this season will most likely visit 3 continents, MAYBE 4 if the budget allows for Australia. However, I believe they could consolidate this for having additional legs in North America. Canada & Mexico seem most obvious, but some jungle legs in Costa Rica or a visit to Tikal in Guatemala would be so fantastic!
Seeing as the last 2 spring seasons have had gimmicks, and the fact that the casting website was still accepting singles applications, I'm expecting some kind of gimmick season in TAR28, as much as it pains me. There's an open casting call out near Albany next weekend which I think I may be attending, but it might not matter if its all singles or more blind dates.
I assumed for this season will still likely to visit 5 continents, the third season in a row after seasons 26 and 27. The race will use a plenty of budget that allow to start the westward route from North America, down south to Oceania (Australia), then up to Asia, and down south again to Africa and head up North to Europe again. For this season, Africa will finally beat its streak of three straight season visits (seasons 1-3, 5-7 and 10-12). Europe will have four different countries in each leg. Slovenia would be nice and has a scenic landscape. The urban legs in Spain (Madrid) and Ireland (Dublin) would be thrilled and have beautiful places. I believe the penultimate leg in Ireland would be awesome. Madrid has neither visited nor have a full leg in American TAR, and Dublin as well.
I am guessing that TAR that parts of central and southern Europe will be avoided due to the ongoing refugee crisis. I guess we can eliminate Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. San Marino probably won't be featured as well, as the only way to get in is through Italy.
If new European countries are to be featured, it may be Andorra and Luxembourg, but I won't put my hopes too high on them.
Due to the current situation in Malaysia, I guess we can count them out as well. If the haze in Southeast Asia does not improve, we can count out Indonesia and Singapore.
It's getting warmer in the Southern Hemisphere. Oceania should be featured. Hopefully Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart and some Pacific islands will get visited.
Southern Africa may have a shot. Lesotho and Swaziland for first time visits?
Maybe time for Antartica cruise?
^ I really want this to happen. And a visit to Laos and Guatemala.Maybe time for Antartica cruise?
:funny: maybe
The main issue I could see with Antarctica is cost though that can be lessened by visiting it late-race (I mean if they're going to rent out a luxury hotel, helicopters to race in Monaco, and remt out multiple Dallas landmarks then budget may not be so bad).
The other issue is that it would be a bottleneck, forcing either two legs there (which borders on unsafe) or more likely a leg in the connecting city - Punta Arenas would be cheapest/closest, Melbourne or other points in Australia would be easiest to facilitate a leg (though I think the flying to/from Ant would be difficult) and I imagine Christchurch would be personally appealing to Phil.
Combining those makes for tl;dr - visiting Antarctica would mean production has to plan most of /all of the race around it.
(Though given that we're probably not doing BOTH Africa and South America maaaaybe)
I am guessing that TAR that parts of central and southern Europe will be avoided due to the ongoing refugee crisis.
I just realized, I don't remember watching Australia and Oceania in the F5 or F4. I know it has happened, but I don't remember it because:
a.) I never watched the season. :gnome
b.) I forgot the season since it was a long time ago. :gaah:
I think anything is possible at this point, so if they do visit Australia & Oceania, maybe they'd visit the continent later in the race. ???
Highly speculate the following countries will be visited for TAR 28
Asia :
South Korea : China & Japan are visited recently (24,26,27), South Korea fits the best for a "Eastern Asia" spot
Cambodia : Bangladesh, Vietnam and Thailand are visited not too far ago (21, 22, 26), it fits the best for "poor Southern Asia" spot
Indonesia : Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore are visited recently (24,25) leaving Indonesia to fit the "Island Asia" spot
Indonesia also makes easier connection to Oceania
Oceania :
Australia : Last visited was 18 already, possibly 2 legs, visited mid-race (Leg 4-6) with 7-8 teams
Fiji : Continue the trend of one new country since 25, also adds variety to Oceania
Europe :
Russia : The last Winter visit to Russia is 14, making it possible
Belgium : France, UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands are all heavily featured in recent races, a Winter visit to Belgium makes things less predictable
Lithuania/ Czech Republic/ Croatia/ Finland : Possible candidates for Former USSR countries, all are formerly visited in Summer only
Africa and South America will be skipped likely given how frequent they are featured in recent races
A Westward route is suggested (Leg 1-3 : Asia, Leg 4-6 Oceania, Leg 7 Asia, Leg 8 - 11 Europe)

Australia made in the F5 twice (TAR2, TAR9) and F4 once (TAR4). New Zealand made the F5 teams (TAR5) and F4 (TAR2).
Australia is part of Oceania continent as on its namesake "continent", while New Zealand is also part of Oceania and belongs to Polynesia islands group.
Guam was a F4 destination in TAR11 too.I just realized, I don't remember watching Australia and Oceania in the F5 or F4. I know it has happened, but I don't remember it because:

And that is why I know it happened, but I don't remember seeing a leg there. They were visited 20 seasons ago, more or less.
I just liked that racers finally invaded Big Brother since five houseguests have been on the Race and Brenchel did it twice. Will there be another crossover soon?
Keoghan: We might have something interesting lined up for next season. Season 28 might surprise you. Having talked to you as much as I have, I think you'll like it.

Hmm... Phil says the interviewer will like it so it might not be that bad.
But it has to be something not done before (All-Stars, Unfinished Business, Blind Dates Only)
So maybe it's that half-blind/half-regular edition everyone's speculated.

I've heard from multiple sources that Season 28 of The Amazing Race will feature... INTERNET SENSATIONS. Not entirely sure what will be classified as INTERNET SENSATION. But I can't see people such as The Rhodes Bros on it, possibly Miranda Sings and her husband (recently married)... People of that nature. Doesn't necessarily mean YouTubers, just people who are "Internet Sensations" (not limited to social media)... Perhaps Dr. Mike from instagram!?
If anyone else has heard something similar, please elaborate. =) But this is what I've heard and I'm 99.9% positive it's true.

One or two is okay, but 11? Nope.
Even worse than viral stars would be ALL reality show crossovers. A season filled with Survivor and BB also-rans? Plus other reality "stars" from cable shows? OMGWTF. Please no.
That would be alright tbh it could try to carry over some of the Survivor and BB viewers to watch TAR.But that really hasn't happened in the past either though. It wouldn't really translate to a significant increase. And even if so, those fans usually tune out once their faves are eliminated, just like any YouTube stars who will rant and rave.
We aren't exactly blowing up the ratings right now =/
Is Latvia able to visit this season?Lol why would it not be
All-female edition would be great.

No it wouldn't.
What if they did their own version of Survivor's Fans vs Favorites of some sort? Like six new teams and five all stars?

Or what about each team consisting a past racer and a new race partner? Maybe even one of the teams is a blind-date team with a past racer  It might be interesting to see if a change in partner has a significant effect on their performance.
An interesting cast would be a good start.

Well, I'll say this. I HATE what is planned.
I'll also say this. I HATED the idea of blind daters....but it turned out okay. So....

(I hope this question isn't inappropriate.)
I don't think the question is inappropriate, but I'd rather not have Peach spoil it yet ;) , for "safety(?)" reasons and for suspense.
It is DEFINITELY scary. Especially after Peach's words.

“If it ain’t broke…” We all know the rest of the old adage, and indeed, several of television’s biggest, and longest-running, unscripted formats seem to be in fine shape. But no programming juggernaut remains atop the mountain forever. Here, teams behind some of the biggest series on television discuss how to keep legacy formats fresh.

This might be a long shot, but bear with me:
So far, the prizes - at least the trips teams get for 1st place - in Season 27 have been to El Jadida, Morocco (won in Leg 2 by Justin & Diana), Siem Reap, Cambodia (won in Leg 3 by Tanner & Josh), and Bratislava, Slovakia (won in Leg 5 by Denise & James Earl). This last one had me thinking. It's not like Bratislava is the most popular destination in Europe. Sure, it's a beautiful city, but why not send them to Paris or London or something? So I'm curious:
What if all the trip prizes in season 27 are where the race will actually visit in Season 28? ??? Wouldn't that be a cool way for production to casually hint at the locations for next season! If so, season 28 would be visiting Morocco, Cambodia, and Bratislava, which most speculation on this thread has been discussing visits to... :cheer:

I hope so but I said the same with S26 where we would of had Seoul, South Korea | Prague, Czech Republic | Puerto Vallarta, Mexico | Cape Town, South Africa | Queenstown, Nee Zealand | Goa, India
Prizes are donated by Sponsors. Not chosen by production. The trip to Slovakia prize got me thinking alike as well, but that's what I almost instantly thought of. ^

Speaking of S28, I would like them to AGAIN visit countries who've had few visits. Just look at Europe!
I want so bad to see racer visit Indonesia again but now the circumstances is not possible to be visited since Indonesia has smoke fogging emergency especially in Riau, Sumatra (unfortunately Medan is impossible :( ), and Borneo... And affect to some region in Malaysia and Singapore so kinda sad but it's for racer safety...
Btw, South Korea has a chance since no MERS reported recently so it's. Great route though
And Oceania... Lol never visited since 22 so yass..
But a returnee season no more then 2 years after the season that sharnt be mentioned.
But a returnee season no more then 2 years after the season that sharnt be mentioned.
You never know, we waited 11 seasons for All Stars, 6 seasons for UB, 5 seasons for [REDACTED].
It could be happening sooner than expected lol, we've already passed 3 seasons since [REDACTED]!
I know what [REDACTED] means ... that worst season, worse than Family Edition. Forget that season. Brenchel and Country Singers are only stars of that season.
So if there's no returning racers, and no blind dates, then that basically leaves celebrities. Maybe that 'internet sensation' post a while back would be on the right track. Sounds pretty dreadful.Internet sensations, that would be hard honestly. and how can you get 11 teams of internet sensations? sounds dreadful if this happens
As for route, I'll say LA to Australia, then maybe legs 3-7 in Asia and 8-11 in Europe.
Why would they do a throwback-themed season dedicated to the biggest fans as it seems, and then follow with a complete gimmick like that for no reason :groan: I really hope that's not what's happening :gaah:

I don't want an all YouTube season or celebrities. Could it be early boots returning?
and no, not returning racers.
I wonder if they will do a live start again.
Also, does anyone think a trailer for season 28 will be released after the finale of TAR 27, like TAR 25?

I'm doubting it because we probably got a promo due to the one week break on 25. This season so far there are no scheduled breaks, so unless 28 starts REALLY REALLY soon, it's not happening.

My hope is visits to Madrid Spain and Bruge Belgium!!!

I don't know why but i feel that TAR wanted back to basic and classic TAR ( it started in TAR25 maybe?) so i guess TAR will revisit countries like have been visited in long long time like South Africa or Tunisia and Cambodia...
Too bad the refugee crisis in Europe still not resolved and we might have fair chance not to get Southern Europe visit.
P/S: Shall we moved this topic to TAR28 thread?
I think southern Europe is okay to be visited. Those severely hampered at the moment include Greece/Turkey/Croatia/Slovakia I think but the major cities are not overly struck down??
Filming should start soon, I suppose?
I don't think so. The TAR27 finale is in mid December and they generally get the racers home before Christmas so there is almost no way they start after the TAR27 finale.Filming should start soon, I suppose? No press release... But i think after TAR 27 finale

I can believe that TAR won't be heading to Egypt this year. The rest of the Middle East is probably out as well, except maybe Israel. The security there is airtight. It has to be -- Israel is surrounded by enemies!
CAN THE RACE START FILMING.
I wanna know the teams. And the places.
I don't care about placement spoilers this season
how about South Korea/Mexico as the first destination?
They went to Mexico at the start of TAR3. The only visit to Mexico.
Just found out that Marvel is filming Dr. Strange in Nepal, could that open the door for TAR going there :spy:

what about New Zealand?I definitely think Australia, NZ and the rest of Oceania are a big possibility and should be the opening Legs of this Race.
I speculate TAR will return to the Philippines and actually catch the airport screeners in the bullet planting scheme (http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/543117/news/nation/un-warns-staff-about-laglag-bala-at-naia) on video which in turn will bring huge media attention to the show and result in a big ratings boost. :yess:
:grins:
No. I rather WRP cut 1 NEL for 12 teams racing for 12 legs.
No. I rather WRP cut 1 NEL for 12 teams racing for 12 legs.
Could not be. 12 teams, 12 legs and 2 NELs within 9 elimination legs.
youtubers plsagreed
Why is the Bitch, Moan and Sqeal thread still closed? Please open!!! :funny:
:didimiss: I've looked over the press releases- did I miss the location of the starting line? Would love to see it live!It will stream live.

According to these two websites it's 10:30 PM Eastern, not AM.
The evening makes more sense to me, as there aren't many international flights leaving soon after 10:30am eastern. But there will be plenty on the west coast leaving in the hours after 7:30pm Pacific.

Maybe there's another press release. This is what I see in the one I linked to:http://www.ew.com/article/2015/11/11/amazing-race-season-28-tyler-oakley-social-media-stars
For the first-time ever, on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 10:30/9:30c, Phil Keoghan, host of The Amazing Race, will be live streaming via Facebook the kick off of the show's next season direct from the first leg.
It doesn't say the first checkpoint. It doesn't specifically say when or where. The timing suggests to me the starting line. I could be wrong. It happens way too often.
:didimiss:
any ideas for the starting line? hope it's not LA again.. :'(

The CBS press release did not specify AM or PM, thankfully others did.i think they did, Peach... :)
That is totally new!! Before it said 1030 but did not specify AM or PM
Possible First Destination: South Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, England
Could "checkpoint" mean the first Pit Stop or the first clue? *shrugs*

IMO, no.

IMO, no.
No to what? :X
PS: It would be shocking and highly original if the starting line will be at LAX. Starting line task: Find your first destination and your first flight based on mileage and flight time provided! You can ask your fans for the help. Warning! There only X flight tickets for the first flight.OMG this idea is glam, but as with all great ideas we propose over here, it won't happen.
Could today's horrible attacks change possible Europe plans for this season? Not unless the go to France in the first 3-4 legs.
Assuming a LA start :gaah: I'm guessing Phil will be live tweeting from El Salvador.
Just speculation :)
Could today's horrible attacks change possible Europe plans for this season?
not gonna lie but, I would love to see Canada being the first destination, like being the shortest gap between US and the first destination.especially Niagara falls area because they could start in US and not even fly for first leg that would be so cool
Could today's horrible attacks change possible Europe plans for this season?
Maybe it's best for TAR to avoid major cities. Perhaps we will get to see more small towns and rural places this season.
Regarding Europe, probably the only place they can visit is Iceland? Maybe we will have a Europe-free season for only the 3rd time.
Don't overreact.Well said.
I watched some videos of team annoucements and came across the Pro Frisbee Players, Kurt Gibson & Brodie Smith announcement video, they said that they learned and practiced driving a stick shift. Could that hint a possibility that there will be self-driving legs and I wonder who are the "sponsors" ???

They probably just said that because they studied the race well enough to know that learning to drive stick is one of the cardinal rules.
Even after all this Europe is still safest continent, like seriously this is just an incident, Europe didn't turn into a war zone all of a sudden. Don't overreact.Well, it wasn't just an incident. Again, TAR has pulled out of countries last minute for far less things.

It's not overreacting to speculate that countries like France, Turkey, Belgium, Greece may be avoided because of security concerns, even before Friday.

I'm sure the producers just want to play it safe.
Perhaps the route could be
1. North America - Asia - Oceania - South America - North America
2. North America - Oceania - Asia - Southern Africa - South America - North America
Perhaps the countries in the Caribbean can be visited if there are no hurricanes expected. There are still numerous safe countries in the Caribbean that can be visited.
Manila is off the list for now, due to "possible terrorist attacks" that's spreading across my social media pages. :ascared
Oh, and tons of flights were cancelled because of that. :res:

There are no true threats in our country, this is just local Philippine social media being Dbags.
Flights were NOT cancelled because of that, but due to the current APEC summit (:

Caribbean and Central America are totally safe for now, preventing to avoid gang violence in some of Central American countries such as Honduras and El Salvador.
