NBC’s summertime talent search series debuted strongly on Wednesday. It was watched by an average of 12.4 million viewers, which “marked NBC’s strongest Nielsen performance in the Wednesday 9-11 p.m. time slot since April 2005, excluding the network’s
Winter Olympics coverage this year,” according to the AP.
The AP notes that it had a better series debut than American Idol did four summers ago, as it was watched by about 9.6 million people.
Among viewers 18 to 49, ratings “[were] 84 percent higher than the NBC average for the same time period last summer, and 44 percent above its tally for that slot all last season.”
