Just to confirm that the Detour is most likely before the Roadblock once again..

Godlewski's at the first pitstop ( pink v neck T-Shirt /third from right)

Now at the reenactment (pink shirt/white pink cap/visor)

now heading for the cluebox in Washington ( changes to a white T-shirt  left ) thanks Banzai

Ten teams visit Gettysburg on tonight's show? So sayeth the Patriot News. Most likely has both the site and the number of teams participating tonight wrong.

Announcement at noon on CBS that TES will feature the latest team to be ELIMINATED TONIGHT on tomorrow's show.  So much for TBC and NEL.

I'm with you CdI, in one promo shown last night, the Aiello team is getting into their SUV at the Rohrer Farm and the same barn or some such outbuilding is seen through the car window.  It is fully light out (they would be leaving 8th) and we hear one of the boys say"Time to hit the road."  Any guesses on how long after the Godlewski Family did the Aiello Family arrive? So this is scene of them starting the day probably headed for the Shoe House in Hallam.  Could the pit stop now be 15 hours?  If the first team arrived around 3PM this would make the departure time around 6AM.

It would be very easy for a team to mistake the Lincoln Monument for the Jefferson Monument, the former is much better known than the latter.  And this could be an easy mistake for any team who wonders if Pennsylvania is a state?

There is another scene (most likely in Washington) of Mark Schroeder seemingly looking for something in a column (square) lined building which is neither the Jefferson nor the Lincoln Monument. It is not a spot I can recognize so it may even be somewhere else. Very confusing and just as confusing as Mark looks.

Thanks to GMan’s observation where this was I can make a time of day estimate.
Also thanks to the nice xy coordinate system scribed into the concrete!
This Godlewski sister has a shadow making a 72 degree angle wrt the lines running North/South.  That translates into a solar azimuth of 108 degrees.  From this site I found that that happened at 10:51 am (using a date of July 9th 2005, assumes next day start of Leg 2).

ETA:   eekk!  I goofed.  I think I used a Puddin's water mark as a scrbeline.    |(   On reconsideration her shadow is more like 45 degrees wrt the lines.  That means a solar azimuth of 135 degrees.  That happened at 12:08 pm.

I have reviewed all the promo tapes and the vidcaps so well posted here and I cannot, repeat cannot find one scene of any one of the Rogers. Am I missing something? or are they so far under the radar that they are already wandering around up there in Canada.

I had some luck with the AOL promo by opening Windows Media Player (it's a wmv file), then choose "open url" from the drop-down menu, then paste in this monster:

So that means two teams eliminated ahead of rolling into Alabama.

Those reporters never get the facts right!

At least the number of SUVs still fits: "8 to 10"

fwiw~

Standings after 1 leg:

1. Godlewski
2. Gaghan
3. Weaver
4. Rogers
5. Schroeder
6. Paolo
7. Bransen
8. Aiello
9. Linz
x10. Black

You know, I was hoping that they'd leave the U.S., but with a Civil War reenactment coming up, I'm kinda thinking that it's not happening this week. I am curious as to how the Roadblocks will play out though. Not worried about the Aiello and Linz teams trailing behind, as there's lots of Race to go, and even good teams can have poor first legs - the key is surviving that first leg.

Before I give out my Philimination pick of the week, I should point out that the 'word' came about during one of the early races, and that CBS even markets a T-Shirt with the phrase. Twenty bucks... Cheap!!

Anyways, my Philimination pick is:
Paolo's

I still think that they will be getting down to Central America, which is technically still part of North America. On CBS.com the route map is being laid out on an outline that stretches from Canada down to Colombia, SA. If they were only going as far south as Texas, I think outline map would only include that much of NA.

I can still hope and we do have flash shots of Panama Little League team and colorful Macaw (Beliz) And this would mean at least two or three airline hops which should be fun with 6 people needing tickets for each team.

Boys and Girls, it is that time again:

WHAT WE KNOW AND THE LOT WE DON'T KNOW

The pit stop is probably another camp out at the Rohrer Farm near Lancaster, PA. The first teams, the four Godlewski sisters arrived first about 3:04PM. The last team, The Linz siblings (the last team to continue on, that is) arrived while it was still daylight but probably at least two hours after the first.

Speculation has it that the mandatory rest period this time is at least 15 hours since we see the Gaghans who arrived second leaving with backpacks through the trellis on the Rohrer Farm with the sun up although from the length of the shadows very soon after sunrise at 5:45AM. Later we have a shot of the Aiello Family getting into their SUV and we see the same barn or some othe outbuilding through the car window which we saw the day before when they arrived. The sun is now up and is shinning directly into Papa Aiello' s eyes as we hear one of the sons-in-law say "It's time to roll"

The first route clue seems to direct them to Hallam, PA and the Shoe House. Maybe the clue is vague or they get specific directions but in any case it is only a 20 mile ride to Hallam, PA.  The clue here directs them to Frederick, Maryland. A drive of about 53 miles. We have the belief that this is the location of the Civil War Reenactment at the Monocacy National Battlefield. The evidence seems to point here and not to Gettysburg, PA: the site shown is much smaller, the terrain does not seem to match pictures we have of the battlefield at Gettysburg, and we know that on July 9 and 10 no reenactments were scheduled for Gettysburg (the big one took place the weekend before, July 1-3,) but there was a much smaller one scheduled for Monocacy which seems to fit the scenes we have of a very small force on both side.  Now it is possible that the deep pockets of CBS could entice some of the reenactment unit to return to Gettysburg OR CBS could tell the teams they were in Gettysburg while in fact they were in Monocacy, (heck one team didn't even know if Pennsylvania was a state or not!)

At the civil war reenactment site (Gettysburg or Monocacy) is the location for the DETOUR task. We call it: CARRY or FETCH. In CARRY the teams must find and carry five (5) rather heavy wounded soldiers both Union and Rebel to an aide station which seems to be up a rather steep hill (note tents at the top of the aerial and the at least 8 white stretchers lined up to the left) Not a very difficult task but one that can be very tiring (and we do know that Papa Bransen is really in lousy shape and almost blows it for the girls) From the shadows it looks like it is early to mid morning here; perhaps between 8 and 10AM. The other task is FETCH

battling it out on a real Civil War battlefield.
  We'll talk with the latest
family eliminated from The Amazing Race to find out what went wrong and get
their predictions for the rest of the season. |(

What I was trying to post before ..
At least this brief description above pretty much confirms that the Battle is @ Monocacy ..the Roadblock then Detour I guess : whatever:  , can't see the teams driving all the way back to Gettysburg after Washington  |#' , we did good you guys & gals !!

teams must find and carry five (5) rather heavy wounded soldiers both
Union and Rebel to an aide station which seems to be up a rather steep
hill (note tents at the top of the aerial and the at least 8 white

can be very tiring (and we do know that Papa Bransen is really in lousy
shape and almost blows it for the girls) From the shadows it looks like
it is early to mid morning here; perhaps between 8 and 10AM.  We have the
Bransens, Aiellos, Linz and Godlewski families doing this task. The other
task is FETCH (we have little to go on here) which seems to deal with
fetching water for the troops in the field and then retrieving a
particular flag to bring back to the starting point. We have the Gaghans
and Weavers doing this one.So the tiitle of the Detour may even be SEARCH
and RESCUE. Meanwhile the Paolos, Schroeders, and Rogers are MIA.

The clue here tells them to proceed to Washington, DC where they will
find their next clue by the reflecting pool (Union Square) in front of
the statue of General U. S. Grant (which may be the only clue they have
since it fits in with the civil war theme). This takes place about
10:51AM. Frederick, MD is only 40 miles north of DC on a direct route via
Interstate 270, the Capital Beltway, and George Washington Parkway into
the mall area.

There may be another task for them first.  Maybe to find the monument
dedicated to a President (the Third not the Sixteenth) Some teams may
head to the Lincoln Memorial instead of the Jefferson Memorial across the
Tidal Basin from Mr. Lincoln.  Here they will find the ROADBLOCK task.
Call it "The Sky is Blue": one member of each team must take the black
briefcase and try to find another person somewhere on the mall with a
similar black briefcase and if this is the person who will take part in
the SWITCHEROO he will respond when hearing the code phrase: "The Sky is
Blue". We only have shots of one of the Linz clan and and Papa Bransen
(he survived the battle field) with the briefcases. From the looks of the
shadows it appears that this task is being done at least by these two
around 12:00 or 1:00PM.

When they exchange briefcases they will receive the clue to go to the pit
stop.  Don't know where: it could be on the Mall but unlikely as this
would have been too open and public. Perhaps one of the many historical
estates in the area, such as Mount Vernon, or just about anywhere.
Wherever we now are positive that this will be another ELIMINATION LEG.

Its your guess as whom isto be philimated tonight.  Good luck. Hopefully
we have this story at least half-way right.

Thanks,

Hugh.

My guess: the Aiellos.

Thanks Puddin.

But I wonder if the blurb above is correct?  But with the time frame we have it could be that they go right down the Interstate from York to Washington, DC which would put them at the Union Square clue box at the 10 to 11 time frame we have. Then at the Jefferson Memorial at noon to 1:00PM and back to Monocacy via Interstate 270 for the Detour in mid afternoon.  Strange but could be.Then camp out overnight (again) on the Monocacy field.  Then it would make sense for them to leave 12 hours later (3-4AM) for 40 mile ride to Dulles (Washington) International Airport on Sunday morning.

Bye Bye Tony et al.
