I am just going to add some more love to this thread for Rob and Amber. ]**] ]**] ]**] }^! ]-{.
I am so glad they are on the Amazing Race as I look forward to it each week to see how they do. Has anyone else noticed how nice Rob is to all the people he meets along the way. He says hello and asks them their name, very personable. Gotta like that. I like his smile and I enjoy the clips they have him talking. Amber is lucky to have him. They do make a very nice couple and I can see they will have a nice future together. I must also add that after every episode of TAR, my two co-workers that didn't care for Rob and Amber are now becoming fans of their racing skills. So even if you don't care for him you gotta commend Rob on his great racing skills. So once again, I am so glad that Rob and Amber are on this series of TAR as I was starting to lose it with the last sets of bickering couples that were wearing me out. Okay enough of the lovefest for now. ]**] ]**] }4{ ]*[ <[/ ]#*

}^! WoW Bathfizzy, you expressed that so well...my sentiments exactly! })} Thanks! }4{ I think I've already expressed myself purdy much about the bickering couples in previous TARs...and Yes...they wore me to a frazzle. TAR7 has MUCH better teams overall, and Romber is a breath of fresh air! I'd much rather watch Romber wheel n deal than watch couples who have NO respect for each other!

Altho I love the way Rombers are conducting themselves and they are verrrry entertaining, I'd like to see Uchenna/Joyce win b/c they need the money for excellent reasons. Second choice is Gretchen/Meredith just b/c for oldsters, they're doing purtie dang good!! ]**] {^[

IF you notice you never see Amber say its 9:00 its a voice over so i think they were there before 8 and they just did that to make it seem close. As for there bags comming out first. The order went Rob and Amber-Brian and Gregg-Ron and Kelly-Uch and Joyce-and Lynn and Alex backward from they got on the plane and the second plane was the same Pat and Su were out first followed by Deana and Ray and Meri and Gretchen last. Thats just the way the plan baggage works not the producers helping Rob and Amber.

That's a good pick-up. I did not realize at all that it was a voice-over.

One comment.....all the articles and comments keep saying all the other teams are mad at Romber...all 4 teams were mad at Romber making the plane.....However you never see U/J saying specifically I do not like romber. Even on the plane the had a shocked look but not a comment.

I think this is one of two things...they have a secret alliance with Romber. OR they are getting good editing as they make it far in the game.

Also i agree with everyone they are playing the game well and are workign well together.

Rob took both Ray and Uchenna into his confidence about the earlier bus back when they were in Chile, so it's not surprising that Uchenna/Joyce haven't said anything negative about Romber.

I went back and checked and so far Rob and Amber have won the following:

Five nights at the Atlantis, Bahamas

Five nibhts at a luxury hotel in London, England

Five nights at a hotel in Monte Carlo.

That makes up a pretty good honeymoon trip so far. To round it out they need a stay in CanCun, Mexico and finally in Hawaii.

Amazing' Rob: `Survivor' veteran and fiancee turn reality TV on its ear
By Amy Amatangelo
Monday, April 18, 2005 - Updated: 12:32 AM EST

What hath Romber wrought?

``Boston'' Rob Mariano, along with fiancee Amber Brkich, has given the seventh season of CBS' ``The Amazing Race'' (tomorrow at 9 p.m. on WBZ, Ch. 4) more plot twists than a Shakespearean play. The man famous for breaking alliances has brought his conniving ``Survivor'' ways to reality TV's most dignified competition.

``Rob is changing the way `Amazing Race' is played,'' ``Survivor'' host Jeff Probst said in a recent telephone interview.

``I think it will make for a better show. I like `The Amazing Race,' but I think the show could benefit from a little more of this. The next time people play this game, they're going to be playing with a lot more (gusto) than they have previously.''

The ``Survivor'' lovebirds have dominated the game, and along the way to the pit stops, they have avoided several classic ``Amazing Race'' roadblocks.

For one thing, they have yet to bicker. While couples in previous races have revealed the ugliest underbellies of their relationships, Mariano and Brkich are as happy as two immunity idols at tribal council.

They also haven't yelled at their taxi driver (an ``Amazing Race'' staple) or made xenophobic remarks about the country they are visiting.

But the other teams are brimming with venom for the pair. It must sting that the fame Brkich and Mariano earned coming in first and second on ``Survivor: All-Stars'' has done nothing but help them. Random strangers recognize the duo and eagerly volunteer to help them along the race.

Mariano charmed players to drop out of a challenge when he didn't want to eat the unappealing food and just last week persuaded another team not to yield them (force them to stop) when they had the chance.

``Needless to say, I don't think we're going to be getting any Christmas cards from these people,'' Mariano said in a recent episode.

``People underestimate Rob. The guy is super smart and he's playing really competitive, and the fact that nobody else has thought of quitting a challenge as a strategic move shows you how well he knows that game,'' Probst said.

But the pinnacle (or nadir depending on how you look at it) came when Mariano drove right by another team that had crashed their car.

``Rob certainly put the final nail in the coffin of making him the greatest reality villain ever when he drove past the accident. Even I kind of went, `Whoa, Rob. Wow,' '' said Probst, who continues to stay in touch with the couple.

Reality scoundrels or not, Mariano and Brkich are two of the genre's most recognizable stars and the duo is unabashedly riding the reality show wave. While rumors of their televised wedding circulate, let's take a moment to ponder the couple's next step:

A GAME SHOW: With his winking persona, Mariano easily could host a show. Love him or hate him - he's fun to watch. Perhaps if the man Mariano always referred to as ``pretty-boy Probst'' ever gets tired of wearing khakis, he could pass the, um, torch to Mariano. Something tells us Brkich would be excellent in a Vanna White role.

THE NEXT ``NEWLYWEDS'': Forget the skankfest known as Britney and Kevin. Rob and Amber are the clear successors to Nick and Jessica. The time is ripe for the cameras to chronicle the first year of Romber's wedded bliss. Mariano remains positively smitten with his island galpal. After viewing a palace a man had built for his girlfriend in India, he told her, ``Imagine if I built you a palace, it would look twice as nice.''

``FEVER PITCH 2'': Frankly, we don't understand how Mariano failed to get the Jimmy ``I'm really a Yankees fan'' Fallon role in the first place.

'Survivor' sweethearts stay ahead of the game in 'Amazing Race'
By Amy Amatangelo/ Boston Herald
Friday, May 6, 2005

"Boston" Rob Mariano and his "Survivor" spouse Amber Brkich continue to dominate the seventh season of "The Amazing Race." Once again, the reality lovebirds, who met and fell in love on "Survivor: All-Stars," came in first in last night's episode.

The love-'em-or-hate-'em duo are now one of three remaining teams vying for the million dollar prize in next Tuesday's two-hour finale.

Meredith and Gretchen Smith, the oldest competitors ever to make it this far in the game, were eliminated. They made their game-ending blunder early in this leg of the race. Both the Smiths and Uchenna and Joyce Agu took the later but direct flight from Istanbul to London. Mariano, Brkich, Ron Young and Kelly McCorkle took a connecting flight through Frankfurt, Germany, and arrived in London an hour and a half ahead of the other teams.

As always, Mariano and Brkich benefited from their brazen combination of luck, strategy and fame. In London, they hooked up with a lovely chap named Stuart who shuttled the pair around the city. "This guy is pumped to be with us. Let's see if we can lure him in and keep him with us all day long," Mariano said. The unapologetic couple keeps on making enemies on their way to the pit stops. They yielded closest competitors and former allies Young and McCorkle.

Young and McCorkle escalated their incessant bickering. Former beauty queen McCorkle appears to think the game will serve as some sort of couple's therapy. "I used to think I could marry Ron. Now I'm just not sure if he is the one for me or if I'm the one for him. That's what this race will show us," she said.

All teams lost it during a "roadblock" that required one member of a team to drive a double-decker bus in and out of orange cones without ever hitting a cone. Even mild-mannered Joyce was pushed to her limits. "I can't understand what the hell you're saying to me," she screamed at her husband.

However, if there were a prize for being the nicest team, the million dollars would easily go to the Agus. Uchenna even tried to help the Smiths with a particularly heavy task until he was reminded that aiding another team was against the rules of the game. *(^

Question Celebrity

By With Hank Stuever

Sunday, May 8, 2005; Page W04

I'm dead last to arrive at "The Amazing Race," the competitive CBS reality show that's been on, uh, forever. I only got hooked last fall, sucked in by weepy Victoria and her verbally and ultimately physically abusive husband, Jonathan. The duo so disturbed viewers' sensibilities--and boosted ratings--that CBS was left with no other choice than to sentence the couple to a public therapy session (scolding, really) with "Dr. Phil" McGraw. And again, I wonder: If "real" people provide so much drama and ready access, if 13 years of reality television (I count back to the first season of MTV's "The Real World") has taught people how to behave like pampered celebrities, then why on Earth do we need actual celebrities?

Or, when did all Americans begin to think of themselves as (and behave like) big stars ? Did it start with winning World War II? Is it rooted in the global triumph of our pop culture? Is it all those modern schoolchildren made to sing "I Believe I Can Fly"?

The current "Amazing Race"--the series' seventh season, which concludes Tuesday--adheres to the basic plot line: couples tromping imperiously and rudely through exotic corners of the (mostly third) world. Viewers quickly learn that the prettier, more telegenic couples are for some reason--confidence? a raging sense of entitlement?--more likely to come in first. And so we have Rob and Amber, "Survivor" alums, blithely making their way to the winner's circle, as if it's the easiest thing they've ever done.
And it's not. It looks hard and unhappy. Everyone is reduced to a shrieking American diva, too busy to take in the details of the world around her. All that screaming at cabdrivers--"Fast, fast! You understand 'fast'? Rapido, rapido," whether or not the poor dude speaks Spanish.

All that use of the word "baby"--"Come on, baby. You can do it. I know you can do it, baby. Hurry up, baby. Please stop yelling at me, baby, or I'll shove this oar . . ."

So, what about you? Are you deliberate, polite, able to ponder unfamiliar cultures and enjoy the unplanned tangent, insatiably curious about what you're seeing and the people you're meeting? Then forget winning "The Amazing Race." You're not traveling like a fast-edit superstar, which is, increasingly, the only way to go.

Rob & Amber: With These Gifts 'I Do'

May 18, 2005
"Boston" ROB MARIANO and AMBER BRKICH fell in love amid grueling challenges and scarce food on "Survivor," and they played out their engagement on the small screen as they criss-crossed the globe for "The Amazing Race." So it's only fitting that the TV twosome gets married in front the world in a new CBS special. But before their "I do's" air on May 24 (9 p.m.), Rob and Amber reveal what wedding gift they've picked out for each other!

"There's nothing better than this, Rob's going to die!" Amber gushes.

The top-secret present that "Survivor" winner Amber's been working on for weeks is an original painting of Rob's beloved Boston Red Sox. "Everyone saw him on TV wearing his Red Sox hat wherever he goes," Amber says. "People call him Boston Rob -- his nickname is after the city -- so he's a pretty big Red Sox fan.

To make it even more special, Amber hauled the large painting to spring training to have it signed by a number of the star players, a trip she wishes Rob could have been a part of. "He would love to be here right now, to meet the players," she says. "He's going to be slightly upset about that, but he's going to understand."

But there will be nothing for Amber to be upset about when she lays her eyes on her shimmering present from Rob.

"I designed Amber's engagement ring over a year ago and I thought what would be really cool, and really sentimental and really from the heart is if I got her some diamond earrings that mirrored the engagement ring," Rob tells ET.

He says he feels the diamond baubles are ideal for his lady. "The earrings are definitely a perfect present for Amber because as long as I've known her she's worn fake diamond earrings," he says. "I figured we're getting married and she won't do it for herself. I've got to splurge on my girl so I got her the real deal."

The CBS special, "Rob And Amber Get Married," not only features the pair exchanging vows, but it will also include a behind-the-scenes look at the preparations for the wedding, filmed at the famous Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas, Amber's bridal shower, their bachelor and bachelorette parties and the rehearsal dinner.

For more on Amber and Rob, watch tonight's ET!

Create Your Own Rob-Amber Wedding
« Reply #120 on: May 24, 2005, 12:44:05 PM »
Create Your Own Rob-Amber Wedding
(CBS) Tuesday night, CBS is airing a 2-hour special "Rob And Amber Get Married," and the whole thing was designed and planned by celebrity party planner Colin Cowie.

He also happens to be an Early Show contributor, and Tuesday morning, he recreated a few of the elements of the wedding to give you a sneak preview of the special and to offer ideas to people who may be planning their own weddings.

The entire wedding was really all about beach chic.

"I took inspiration from standing on the beach with the water in front of me," Cowie says, "The colors we used were all inspired by the surroundings, so they were colors of wet sand to dry sand, i.e. ivory to dark beige and accented with gorgeous turquoise/aqua, which came straight out of the Bahamian sea."

Initially, he says he didn't get much direction from the couple and notes the whole thing was planned in just 30 days. The following is the explanation of how he incorporated his ideas.

The setting for the ceremony:

Offer special seating arrangement - Says Cowie, "Rather than having a traditional set-up for the ceremony, we made it so that the aisle actually weaved throughout the seating of the guests. So everyone got the see them walking down the aisle, and it flowed the way a beach wedding with the ocean behind it should flow.
Fill ceremony with ritual - Says Cowie, "I always believe that standard preacher ceremonies are as interesting as watching paint dry, and today, the most important thing is to personalize them and fill them with ritual so we, as guests, can be involved. In addition to some special elements we incorporated for Rob and Amber and their guests, I also gave them a directive to go out and come up with amazing surprises for each other, which they did."

Make it personal - Cowie explains, "One aspect to make it more interactive and not so standard, was that we gave ribbons to each guest in their hotel room before the wedding. What I wanted to do was incorporate all the guests into the wedding, and have them send Rob and Amber on their way with all the best wishes.

"We put a ribbon in each guest's hotel room before the wedding and asked them to take a few moments to think of their wish for Rob and Amber and write it on the ribbon. Then everyone brought the ribbon to the ceremony and we placed them all under an arch, so when Rob and Amber came down the aisle they walked through the collective wishes of their friends and family. It was fabulous.

"We then rolled the ribbons up and presented them to Rob and Amber so any time they ever get to a bumpy spot they can take them out and read them and remember all the wishes of their friends and families."

Individualize the ceremony - Cowie explains, "They also did a hand washing ceremony during the wedding, which also helped to individualize their ceremony. We used a shell bowl and it wasn't even so much about washing their hands, as it was about purifying their hands and souls before taking place in this special ceremony. And the words they spoke during this made it so sincere and magical and special."

Remember: Little details count - Cowie notes, "Another little element I added was placing cold towels on top of everyone's shoes. This was a beach wedding and all the guests were required to remove their shoes before sitting. And what's worse than having to put back on sandy shoes and having sandy feet afterwards? So the towels were to wipe off the feet and get the sand out of your toes before putting the shoes back on.

Table setting: - Cowie explains, "The tables were set with tablecloths that had beading around the edges, and we had special chair covers, as well. The tabletop elements were glass hurricanes of different heights, with candles for the lighting. We also placed shells and flowers around the center of the tables to give that beachy, airy feeling. And we decided on a menu that was served family style, which Amber loved because it made people interact with one another."

Be sure to tune in Tuesday night for "Rob And Amber Get Married," at 9 p.m./ET on CBS.

Rob And Amber's Prime-Time Wedding
« Reply #121 on: May 24, 2005, 12:46:20 PM »
Rob And Amber's Prime-Time Wedding
CBS) For a little pre-wedding planning, correspondent Tracy Smith met up with Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich in the Bahamas. And in typical Rob Mariano style, he promised Smith that this is going to make the Trump wedding look understated! The following is Smith's behind-the-scenes look.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm a kid from Boston," Rob says, "She's a kid from Pennsylvania. We got together on a show; they're throwing a boatload of money at us and saying, 'Make the wedding of your most wildest dreams.'"

So to do that, they chose the Bahamas and a place called Atlantis Paradise Island.

Atlantis is a sprawling 45-acre resort. Picture Disneyland with sand, where the fake beach is often more popular than the real beach. It's the perfect wedding spot for a couple who met and feel in love on reality TV.

When Rob popped the question on the live finale of "Survivor: All-Stars," they became the couple America loved to love.

Then came "The Amazing Race," where some found them not quite so lovable after all.

Still, when I joined them in Atlantis Paradise Island, two weeks before the wedding, their love for each other was obvious.

Asked if she has had any cold feet, Amber says, "I'll admit the fact that we've had our times when we've had it out, and stressed on each other, but that's why we're there for each other."
To ease some pre-wedding stress, they enlisted Colin Cowie, party planner to the stars. On the day of the interview, he was helping them pick food and table settings.

What is the toughest part about this decision?

"Getting everybody to agree about the same thing," Cowie says laughing, "We're all getting married together. There's three of us with a point of view."

And some more persuasive than others, check out Rob give "The Godfather" treatment to the poor chef.

"The one thing that I'm in charge of in this wedding is the food. So it needs to be good," Rob tells him. "Me and you, we're gonna be me and you. But you have to do me right."

There were endless servings of appetizers, and perhaps a few too many cocktails. For the entree, they chose a seafood platter served family style - in keeping with Rob's Italian roots.

And for dessert, Rob tells me it was his idea to have tiramisu.

"Tiramisu in the form of a wedding cake," he says, "Tiramisu is my favorite."

The theme of the wedding is "beach chic," though Rob's friends had a different interpretation.

Rob explains, "They said who's the beach chick coming?"

Once they decided on the food, we had to talk fashion.

"I have an idea what he's wearing," Amber says, "I have not seen it, and I will not see it until that day, just like he has no idea what I'm wearing. He has no idea what it looks like."

But after I covered Rob's ears, Amber whispered in my ear, "It has the vintage and beachy feel to it."

There'll be about 300 guests, eight bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen.

Amber will walk along the beach barefoot of course because everybody in the wedding has to be barefoot, and with the water behind them, Rob and Amber will take their vows.

And of course, the TV cameras will be in front. But Rob and Amber wouldn't have it any other way.

Amber says, "If we do do this televised, we get to share it with the world. And the fact that America got to fall in love with us while we fell in love, on TV, we almost feel like they should get to see us uniting and becoming husband and wife."

Rob adds, "Not to mention the fact that, like, she's gonna get a more unbelievable wedding than she coulda ever dreamed of."

A few more hints on what to expect Tuesday night: a choir, fireworks and they're going to give each other a special gift.

Be sure to tune in to "Rob And Amber Get Married" at 9 p.m. on CBS. The game-playing may be over but Rob and Amber still feel like winners.

This Forum is for The Amazing Race, this thread should belong a Amber/Rob FORUM. We are not talking about Amber and Rob on Amazing Race anymore, they have gone on to do other stuff that is not apart of Amazing Race. Their wedding, whatever they have coming up has nothing to do with Amazing Race. I hate to see this Forum turn into Rob/Amber talk all the time. It is a shame these famewhores were on the show in the first place because all people talked about was them before the race and people still talk about them after the race. What about the other contestants like Debbie/Brianca, Ray/Deana, Lynn/Alex, Brian/Greg, Uchenna/Joyce from The Amazing Race, don't you people care about them. They were not known before the show and after the show they are pushed into the shadows because all you people care about are Rob/Amber. Have you even heard the latest news about some of the contestants, apparently Deana is pregnant and Brian got hit by a car yesterday and is in the hospita in serious condition not to mention Greg fractured his Tibia two weeks agol, and Lynn/Alex are getting married in Canada It is a shame because this show has became Rob/Amber show, and when TAR 8 comes around you will all be wondering where Rob/Amber are instead of caring about the new contestants.

Tell 'em Puddin'!! :]
This  is the ROB AND AMBER APPRECIATION  thread which is apart of THE AMAZING RACE.  {l{
Like it or not ,THE BLOB,..... most of us know what we are getting when we click on this thread. *(^
It's fine that you don't like them...but don't come to a ROB and AMBER appreciation thread to tell us how much you hate them or how much they don't deserve it. :(*8
Like Puddin said, start another thread to recognize Current Events of the other racers.
