Bronte Campbell OAM & Benfield LainchburyEngagedFour-time Olympian, swimmer Bronte Campbell is looking forward to utilising her physical and mental strength and ability to perform under pressure outside of the pool when she partners with fiancé Benfield Lainchbury in The Amazing Race Australia.
Taught to swim by her mother in the fresh waters of Lake Malawi, Bronte fell in love with swimming from an early age. Relocating to Australia when she was seven years old, Bronte and her sister Cate were inspired to join their local swimming club in Brisbane after watching the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Since 2011, she has consistently featured on the international stage, earning selection for the London 2012 Olympic Games as an 18-year-old. At the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, she took home her first Olympic gold as part of the World Record-breaking 4x100m Freestyle relay team.
Bronte had an unforgettable experience at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, picking up three gold medals in the 100m Freestyle, 4x100m Free style and 4x100m Medley. She capped off her successful tournament with silver in the 50m Freestyle, joining the podium with her sister.
Having added two more World Championships gold medals to her impressive haul in 2019, Bronte went to her third Olympics in Tokyo in 2020 brimming with confidence. Bronte and her sister Cate wrote a book called Sister Secrets which was released in 2021 following the Tokyo Olympic Games.
With a passion for sustainability, Bronte has also founded two successful businesses, PB with Bronte and Earthletica. Teaming up with Benfield on the Race will be a great test for their relationship. While they have been together a long time and love travelling and enjoying adventures together, they are not normally also racing!
A landscaping and artificial lawn business owner, Benfield is also a passionate musician who released his debut single How Can I Forget in 2018.
Bronte is hoping Benfield’s very calm, collected and co-ordinated personality, teamed with her competitiveness and perfectionism, will be a great combination and the two plan to play on their strengths to win the Race.
