For me, I am happy that they can use taxis and explore more of the areas at a time than needing a lot of countries

I think most of us, at least me, are more annoyed about the double legs. Halfway through the race and only 3 countries visited so far (and all of them are basically in the same city for the two legs). I think Thailand, Vietnam and India are great ways to start the race (especially after not having any Asia legs since 32), I just wish we could've gone to more countries to see more of the beautiful world we live in. I think the race is more fun when we can go to as many unique countries as possible. Love the destinations, just wish more destinations were involved.
100 % agree! I have No problem with the countries, they go to. I just wish, they could mix it up. I love the show and gonna watch the season. But still i think its okay, to have an opion about it.
Love The Amazing Race, The Apprentice and Survivor.

For all we know the KOR leg is being treated as a single leg and everyone’s complaining about, reasonably, one set of legs in the same city.

Been to Bangkok and the other end of Vietnam.  I’d go back in a heartbeat.  Based on the photos posted in this forum, Jaipur looks beautiful.  It makes me wonder if people are looking at the same images I am to be that critical of it.

No one is being critical of the places visited. To insinuate that is plain wrong. What people are annoyed with is the having 6 legs in only 3 countries. This would be the same if the race did 6 legs in 3 other countries.

To quote JJW "I think the race is more fun when we can go to as many unique countries as possible. Love the destinations, just wish more destinations were involved."

This. The route is becoming reminiscent of the much maligned TAR24, which spent its first 8 legs in 4 countries. At least if the next country is also 2 legs, going somewhere new would salvage it a little.

I guess if the only thing that people are looking at is ‘amount of places’ then disappointment/annoyance makes a lot of sense.  Just seems like a lot of disappointment to keep hanging on because it feels like this comes up in some form for every version of the show (save for Israel this season, I guess).

This. Very happy that the race is back to filming in Asia but all 3 covid routes already visited more countries by this point in the race (33 - 4; 34 - 5; 35 - 4).

Oh yeah, Israel's route this year set a high bar that I came in not expecting TAR36 to meet. Not after the routes of 33-35.

We just have to wait and see what the second half looks like.

Beyond exited for Can Tho... I've been wishing for years for the show to show the vast diversity of Vietnam without going to the usual locales of Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi.

My GUESS is that the routes were set BEFORE they were asked to make this a 90 minute show.

Its a delight to be able to have way more content but am very sure that this required a LOT of creative thinking on HOW exactly to make it happen.

I'm beyond thrilled to have a 90 minute show. But think of the hours and hours of additional plans that required....

I can say I've never been to most places TAR has been. I googled Jaipur and it looks gorgeous, from the palaces to the forts.  I can't wait until TAR airs and we can see all the places they've been so far and will go to this season. Always a fan!

Love you Linda!   :luvya:

I vote let's try for 24 hours to be SURE that there is ONE NICE COMMENT in every post.

I know the message isn't just directed toward me, but I would like to list all of the things I am enjoying route wise, as just because a few things have made me annoyed doesn't mean nothing has been good nor is the negative outweighing the positive.

Positives:
1. The Starting Line in the US
2. A task outside the Starting Line location in Starting Line city (LA)
3. Very likely that there were multiple flights from LA to Bangkok
4. Bangkok being the first leg
5. A new city in Vietnam
6. Jaipur being visited for the first time by any English speaking series in 12 years (almost 15 with the US edition)
7. All three countries so far are countries where the Race usually gets entertaining legs

I think the season is gonna be good, will the route be disappointing... well we will just have to see.

For me, the route and tasks make no difference as to whether or not I like a season. It's the boot order for me.  TAR35's started with potential, but then went off the rails quickly.  I want a good, gender-diverse, race-diverse, and age-diverse group of teams to get far.  If we get anything like TAR35's endgame, then count me out.  The men's casting, in particular, has Canada 3 potential, which I do not want!

Iam happy for this so far.
1. A task at the start of the Season
2. Bangkok as first city ( really hoping for a night leg there)
3. 13 teams ( Thinks that is a good amount)
4. If they go with non-elemination
5. If we get 90 minuttes episode
6. A New city in Vietnam

My main problems with the route so far are (1) Thailand legs are invariably chaotic in a way that makes late-season legs work because you can focus on the hellish experiences everyone is having, but Thailand legs early in the season tend to suffer under the weight of having to handle so many teams at once, and (2) it doesn't fill me with confidence that Vietnam did six seasons of their version with almost entirely domestic routes and never visited Can Tho at all, which makes me think it's not the most exciting place you can find in that country if you want to avoid Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Look at pictures of Shanghai from 1990 vs. now.  Cities can change fast.

Is there a fairly high confidence level that 2 and 4 are actual legs? Is there a chance that some of the countries still have incoming visitors wait extra time for clearing COVID protocols, and this race is just slow-moving?

COVID protocols are extremely minimal in most international destinations if there are any at all anymore.  It should be expected that any COVID protocol being performed are solely at production's discretion should they see a need.

Couple of theories as to the three double-legs:
1) With 13 teams, it is more expensive to transport all the teams from one place to another.
2) With the longer legs, that may be eating up budget.
3) Due to the writers strike, they may need more episodes than usual.

Excellent post, thank you for the perspective. I can't deny I would have preferred even just removing one of the Thailand-Vietnam legs and flying them down to Singapore, just to break it up.

But boy do I love this cast - lots of diversity.

Such wonderful age diversity on this cast. Almost half are over-40 (or almost 40 in the case of Todd & Ashlie).
