In 3rd place...

(38.75)

We have Jimmer and elthemagnifico in the Top 2...

The runner-up for this round is...

2nd Place
(39.50)

Which means...

1st Place
(40.00)

Congratulations elthemagnifico, you are the winner for Round 1!

Kamineko:

Phil Keoghan: Let's proceed to the next 5 designers who are safe...

(Bookworm has a better individual judge's score than Leafsfan)

Finally, wrapping up our Top 10 is...

(33.75)

Kamineko:

Phil Keoghan: We're coming down to the last eight designers.

Let's reveal the next four designers who are safe...

(29.75)

14th Place
(28.50)

Kamineko:

Phil Keoghan: We're down to the last four designers. May the remaining four designers please step forward...

One of you is safe, while the other three are in danger for elimination...

BourkieBoy, the judges liked that you provide intricate details for your tasks, also that your locations are nice. However, your task that potentially harming the racers with a chance of automatic 4-hour penalty and the Roadblock that was poorly placed didn't win the judges' heart.

ZBC Company, the judges liked your tasks that are relevant with the area that you're designing in, also with high-levelled of difficulties. However, your presentation lacked finesse. Moreover, you broke the rule that specified that you cannot design in big cities and you submitted late.

NELs, the judges liked that you designed a leg in lots of rural locations and had a nice flow in the locations. However, your minimal, Wikipedia-only styled presentation lacked of details, especially with your explanation for the tasks.

MikeDodgers, the judges liked that you made an effort at creating a leg around the Civil Rights theme. However, your presentation elements lacked of originality and creativity, and your tasks were not good enough for the finale.

So, the next designer who is safe is...

15th Place
(25.75)

Kamineko:

Phil Keoghan: ZBC Company, BourkieBoy, MikeDodgers, unfortunately all three of you have the lowest scores in this round.

16th Place
(24.25)

17th Place
(23.75)

18th Place
(20.25)

I understand that this round is one of the hardest first round in the history of Design Challenge...

But, I also want you to know that the judges still see something more that you can bring to your design...

Therefore...

I'M PLEASED TO TELL YOU THAT...

THIS IS A PRE-DETERMINED, NON-ELIMINATION ROUND

SO ALL THREE OF YOU ARE STILL IN THE GAME!!!

Phil Keoghan: However, you know that there is always something behind that. Like in the real version of The Amazing Race, because you're saved from this non-elimination round, all three of you will have a Speed Bump in the next round, which the three of you MUST complete. This Speed Bump will come in a form of an additional requirement from the hosts. So the three of you must bring your A-game in order to be safe from next round's elimination.

...

Also, as a reminder for all designers. This round is the ONLY non-elimination round in this season of Design Challenge, because we want this round to be your warm-up round before proceeding to the upcoming rounds.

Therefore, starting from Round 2 until Round 6, most of you will be eliminated from this game, until we are left with the top 3 finalists in the Final Round.

Phil Keoghan: And that's a wrap of Round 1! All of you are going to take a private jet to the site location for Round 2, which is located in one of our host's home country. So pack your bags, and ride the shuttle that will take you to Los Angeles International Airport where your private jet is waiting.

I'll see you there to start the beginning of Round 2.
