I think flying to the San Francisco Bay Area is very possible (TAR16 kind of worked this way), but I'm sensing Oakland/Berkeley/Napa Valley more so than SF.

I don't know how you guys are smelling or feeling some cities, but the only logical assumption we can make is that there is going to be a west coast finish line.
Other than that, everything else is bending towards wishlists.

Marionete, logic actually says that any U.S. city with a direct flight out of Hong Kong is a candidate.

And it would be interesting to see which of them might also have direct flights out of other East Asian cities (Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore, etc. if in fact Hong Kong/Macao was a back-up leg.) That could narrow down the candidate list.

But I suppose we'll have some idea within a few hours.

While I'd rather not have a California start and finish, I wouldn't rule out San Francisco. If this season is intended to be a total nostalgia-train, then they can talk about how their closest-ever race to the finish line happened there.

I think SFO is out because of when the flight arrived (middle of the night). Cathay Pacific 806 to Chicago lands at 4:00 CDT (in about 3 hours). Cathay Pacific 830 to JFK just landed a few minutes ago.

Also, @travilana posted the pic of the crew at 11:15 last night in HK. S/he said the last flight out that night to US was to JFK. Crew could get on that flight to get ahead, and then teams take the flight the next morning (leaving at 9:36 am, consistent with morning sun in new pics posted).

4 flights to SFO from Hong Kong........two of which give prime filming time of day

Yes, that is correct & what I assumed as well. When I heard that TAR just ended Leg 11, I had a feeling they would go back to HKIA from Macau to get to the US. First thing that irked me was when I saw a lot of metallic suitcases piled together on Aisle C. I thought they could be storage for filming equipment.

When I strolled by security check (from Aisle A-C), I saw those cameramen. They even had hanging mics and cameras with them (which security won't typically allow unless you have permission to register them as handcarry). It's also note-worthy that the guy in the first pic I posted had an Air India bag tag on his backpack.
