Oh god I can't believe I am back!!! Since last season was such a bust I didn't even care what everyone had to say. But now they picked it up a notch!

--> PIT START IN TIME SQUARE!!!! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!! AND IT'S OPEN FOR PUBLIC!!! Why didn't they do that for All-Stars!   Anyway, I LOVE IT! Best starting line ever!!!!

--> The leg was meh for the first half but the Roadblock saved it big time! Good challenge! Simple but tricky! I like it!

--> The editing was super rushed though! No footages of the Scientists and the realtors when they were climbing the hills, no footages of Keith and Whitney and the firefigthers being checked in by Phil at the pit-stop, but at the beginning they showed us quite a footage of the Surfers getting lost in JFK when it actually didn't affect much, I must say it's kinda weird!

--> What else? Oh 4 female-female teams, 5 couples, and only 2 male-male teams? They must have hated last season! Well, I am liking the Scientists so far. They seem fun. And the Wrestlers are quite entertaining. They probably want to appear cuthroat and evil but always ends up being behind and become the underdogs of the season lol. We'll find out I suppose.

--> Oh and the SAFE! Yeah I personally prefer the Express Pass still. Well, the Dentists seem like they are in really good shapes. They've also proven they were mentally strong by smoking everyone in that Roadblock. So what if they make it to leg 10 never arriving last on the pit-stop? Then we wouldn't have the opportunity to see the Safe being excersised and the other teams bitching about it like "Oh man! They could have been gone but now they were still here bla bla bla bada bada...". At least with an Express pass, team possesing it will use it, even if they are already ahead. Unless you are John and Jessica, lol! But see, we can still talk about it even if it's not being used.

-->Well this season looked promising. So far not much whining, no unnecessary drama, no stupid alliances or whatever. I guess we wait until it's leg 9 or a u-turn starts popping out or something.

To sum up, a very decent first leg! Hope it didn't go downhill though since they go to UK, AGAIN, for the next leg.

So I was sitting across from Phil last night as the Teams hit the beach.  I said "Hey, that's a live stand up!"

Instantly, Phil looks up from his Tweeting and goes "yes! it is!"  I said "That's the first time!"   Phil:  "Yes that 's right!"   :hoot:

I have a question.
Could the girls have returned to the roadblock before checking in at the mat seeing they were last or once you leave the roadblock the penalty is already counted?

Once you SAY you are taking the penalty, the time clock starts.

I'm sorry I think this could be missundertood... If a team says they are taking the penalty, the clock starts as soon as they get to the mat unless they arrive last and if that happens the 4 hour penalty is added to their start of the next leg...

The way I read your comment peach is as if the 4 hour penalty started when they left the beach to Fort Christian so let's say it took them 3 hours to get to the mat, there is only 1 hour left on the penalty clock so that would be added at the start of the next leg... so you might want to rephrase that :/

I guess I am not sure about that. I did think the clock starts when they say they are taking it, not at the Mat. Not all RB's are before the PitStop, suppose the Detour follows? FT/BE did their penalty at the task, not the mat, IIRC. And where did the non meat eaters in Argentina serve theirs? Hmmm....

I think the point is that the penalty cannot be undone since they have already received their next clue. As far as the location to serve the penalty, I think that teams are required to serve it at the task site if either there are more teams that have yet to arrive, or if there are further tasks after the Roadblock (as to prevent quitting in order to gamble for a large lead).

It might be different from season to season... I'm sure we've seen different situations play out... Might have to do with the logistics of the race... if Phil and production can't wait for hours they probably let them continue until the next leg...

Or maybe I'm thinking of some other kind of penalty... might have to do some research.

It was pretty obvious from what other teams were saying after finding the chests. Referring to Hayden & Aaron back in TAR6, from a logistics POV it's just better not to wait out a time penalty by the last team(s) since it wouldn't provide any worthwhile drama.

Wouldn't it have to be start as soon as they say it? Like it was said, sometimes that's not the last task, like in TAR15 when the Globes took the penalty, it started right after Big Easy said he was taking it.

I think they have to wait out the penalty on the site unless it is a task before the pit stop. Maybe.
Simplest way to say it I think is they have to follow the camera crew's orders.

I just have to say that Tim and TJ were an unexpected surprise. It was one great quote after another. I hope they continue like this.
Also surprised with Jim helping the other teams figuring the compass, he appears like a total jerk and very arrogant but he does something like this, maybe this team will not be as awful as I first thought!

P.S. Love the sparkle in the teeth every time they smiled! LOL.

It was a good premiere for TAR's Silver Anniversary. The Roadblock practically saves the whole episode because that was like the only task of the leg (The jumping off of the cliff task was negligible).
But thanks to the drama, it made the episode more entertaining.

Too bad, the #MiamiRealtors were eliminated first. They have the potential of doing good and having more dumb blonde moments! I wished it was the firefighters who got the boot first!

I really enjoyed this premiere and I think this is gonna be a great season the starting line was fantastic I like how they allowed the race fans to gather there together to watch the teams take off that was cool , they did a really good job with the variety of cast this year.   I really do like Adam and Bethany and Amy/Maya ( but I want them to get more screen time they hardly showed them)  Cannot wait for the next episode especially since I was literally in London last month.  Im not sure if I like the save though I think the express pass was better

Just watched the first episode, and gosh, such a great combination of teams. To all those whiners who always complain that TAR lacks casting of real people such as old teams and old married couples... This season seemed to be looking at a combination of really strong teams and not unexpected underdogs who just trail past each leg and getting eliminated mid or early season.

Tbh, the mother and daughter is a really normal team, aren't they?

I loved the Roadblock, although it is like a Switchback to TAR 22 first leg's Roadblock. I am also happy with the team who was eliminated, sorry girls, karma bites.

What I didn't like though is that the majority of the leg seems to be determined by your luck with cabs.

And oh, the Save is just... I think I like it if a random team such as maybe the mother and daughter getting it would be cool. It's like every leg they might actually be underdogs and using it any moment. But when given to a team like the dentists, it brings the fun away because why would you want to give a strong team another advantage that will ensure them to become even stronger and cruising their way till the end? Lol

OK, not bad for a first episode especially with the sea planes, cab drama and PHIL WALKING ON THE BEACH INTRODUCING AS TEAMS RUSHING BY <333

To all those whiners who always complain that TAR lacks casting of real people

AFAIK, this season has three "not normal people" teams:
* one team whose one member had a movie made about their life
* the wrestlers
* the former Survivor participants

Can I still "whine" about the lack of Hispanics?  :)
