LEG 6 (Sri Lanka) EPISODE ANALYSISFor a season that has only visited three countries in half of a race, I was not prepared to make popcorn necklaces. Despite a couple minor editing flaws (ripping open of first clues of other teams, anti-climactic moment of Brendon & Rachel getting onto the train), the task choices are beyond what I expected! Each location had a balanced amount of challenge with an equal amount of problems. In the last task before the Pit Stop, the flutist has me wondering if there will be a final task featuring the flute.
In the foot races to the Pit Stop, we saw drama, we heard classic TAR music, and is it just me or is Leo & Jamal vs. Jet & Cord an allusion to Ernie & Cindy and Andy & Tommy's foot race? Dare I say, this is the best Leg of the season so far!
ROADBLOCK:Filling four tuk-tuks with gasoline may seem easy, but searching for a tiny colored card on vehicles' windows is rather difficult. According to Rachel R., she pulled out her former "I am Vegas!" attitude and began screaming at the top of her lungs to direct eco-friendly tuk-tuks (reference to TAR13's Delhi Roadblock) into "Petco". Drama erupted, Dave went crazy at the station, and tuk-tuks smashing into one another freaked everyone out. Of course, I wonder why routers never thought of searching for tuk-tuks with specific license plates.
ROADBLOCK SCORE: 9/10
DETOUR: (Elephant Trunk or Elephant Dung)
This Detour was quite interesting (even though the first dung paper demonstration grossed me out; I was eating dinner). In the elephant trunk choice, I actually was amused with the simplicity of carrying heavy logs to a storage area although the elephant was doing half the work for them. I'd say it was mediocre at best. The elephant dung option seems really difficult, but all you need to do is follow the Sri Lankan paper makers' demonstrations properly. The two choices balance each other in difficulty which really deserves a kudos from me.
DETOUR SCORE: 9/10
