Although this would explain the almost complete absence of sightings in the last 24 hrs I don't understand why they would spend so long in Guangzhou. Having a 12 hr+ PT then racing for 3-4 hrs within the same city then having another massive break?
 
I'm new to this, is it common?

Yes, the 24-30h Pit Stop we seem to have had in Guangzhou is perfectly normal. It was the suggested 8-10h Pit Stop suggested yesterday that's very strange, hence my confusion yesterday.

That's what I'm gathering. I think there was a confusion over time differences, but we're still on leg 3

From the pics/video from Kota Kinabalu - One def looks like Cord for sure, not sure about the others.  Are there several teams getting out of the vehicle?  They were probably safe and ending the leg?  The hotel mentioned is just NW of where the pit stop is noted on the map. Not sure if this goes here or the other thread.

maybe it means that leg in malaysia is already finished.. and the remaining teams now heading to the airport for next destination.

Probably, but wasn't the previous location that was mentioned rumored to be the pitstop? If that's the case.. then it could be a superleg.

Peach said Qatar was mentioned but not confirmed. I'm all for the Middle East, but please.. there are way more things that can be done in the ME than dune bugging.

Edit: and camels, dates, and arab culture. Qatar for one, is very modernized.

If it is one of the versions of the superleg, the obvious exits from Kota are Singapore or Kuala Lampur.

If they are headed to the Persian Gulf, a not so obvious routing is from Kota to Brunei to Dubai.
