TARcanada 1 LIVE SHOW Discussion! Ep 10 FINALE 9/16 @ 9PM!
WalterC:
Just saw the finale, and it was just unbelievable.
First off, a leg with 2 needle in the haystack challenges in the final leg. I don't recall if the US edition ever had this type of challenge in the final leg.
Also, the Cadbury factory... I could not help but think of the task as finding the golden ticket and then show it to Willy Wonka. I was also thinking the Oompa Loompas were going to appear. :) Also, I would have been very tempted to take at least a bite of that chocolate. It looked like a lot of chocolate going to waste.
Not often we get a 3-team race in the finale, as there is usually that one team falling behind and no shot to catch up. It was looking that way here, with the Tims walking everywhere at the zoo, and finding the clue long after the other 2 teams left.
But congrats to Tim Sr and Tim Jr, for winning The Amazing Race Canada, and being the first parent/child team to do so. Admittingly, I did not care much for them, but have to say, they probably made the greatest comeback ever in TAR. I mean, how often does a team in distant 3rd, come back and win the race? I'm thinking... never! And only 2 tries at the memory task, while the other teams had a double-digit amount of tries and still not even come close. So extra kudos for Tim Sr, for the memory task and overcoming his Parkinson's.
Still, Jody & Cory and Vanessa & Celina had very nice runs in the race. I thought the brothers were going to win, while I was rooting for the sisters.
I did enjoy this version of the race, and getting to see more of Canada. And hope to visit the places featured there someday, but unfortunately, it's just so damn expensive to travel there, which is too bad!
Thisis4That:
Just my thoughts about the finale.
Celina & her sister didn't win. :gaah:

OK my thoughts are done.
Also, Nothing against the Tims. Even if Celina & Vanessa or the brothers had won.
My problem with the way the show ended was the fact that to get to the final pitstop depended on a scheduled ferry ride.
What if either the brothers or sisters had gotten to the docks say 3 minutes after that 1st ferry left. If it was me, I'd be fuming.
To me it's basically saying: OK, 3 teams, first one to jump two times wins. But wait there's a catch, whoever jumps 1st has a 30min head start.
The ferry leaves 30 minutes apart & takes what? 15 minutes to get over.
The Tims could have gotten off the ferry, ran on over to the start of the finish line, sat down watched a 22min episode of a program, then just leisurely strolled onto the map & still would have won. With time to spare.
I've never seen a finale like that before. I've seen teams use taxis, cars, bicycles, kayaks (I believe) & from Norway 1 that zip line down the ski hill. But none of those ways to the final pit stop were on a timed schedule.
For a first series with only 10 eps. I don't think they needed the Double Xpress pass or the Double U-Turn (x2)
Other than that it was an OK version of the show.
My personal taste, It sure isn't no Israel or Ukraine.
& I'd place it down there with Vietnam (Which is my least favorite out of them all)
I'll watch the second series, I just hope they race outside of Canada.
Cocoa:
I enjoyed the entire series (except the very zzzzzzzzzzzz episode 1).
Jet and Dave & Hal and Joanne for all-stars please! :D
