DVR results for week #4
Live Same Day
9.271 million viewers
Live PLus 7
10.514 million viewers  ( a gain of 1.243 million viewers, a percentage gain of 13.4%).  We nearly made top twenty five lists this week (thanks to about a third of shows having reruns).  The 25th show gained 1.255 million viewers.  And on the demo front, we were 29th, though the shows from 17th to 36th all gained .5 (it was results to the second decimal point that separated the group out).

So far this cycle, we are doing solid numbers for CBS in general (live Same Day), very strong for V overall, and nearly the best for all Sunday shows (with typically only the half hour Family guy doing better).

We are doing better then any other Sunday show on CBS in adults 18-34 (no surprise as the other shows tend to have extremely old audiences), adults 18-49 (again also not a surprise), but also adults 25-55 (many seasons we have not had the best performance for CBS on Sunday here).

Though broadcast network audience do still continue to shrink (and at faster rates then any other decade since at least the 70's), TAR has held far better then most shows.

With both Good Wife and Mentalists officially renewed today, (Surprised I am by the Mentalist, as CBS doesn't produce that show), I expect at least one of them to be moved to Friday next year.  I also hope that the Goodwife is pushed to 10pm (on whatever day it does air), its average audience age is one of the oldest on network tv (only Blue Bloods and 60 Minutes is older), and having TAR sandwiched between two shows with extremely old audience does hurt TAR.  Of course it also makes TAR look really good, having such a dramatically different audience between those two programs.

Live Same Day
2.4 adults 18-49
Live Plus 7
2.9 adults 18-49, an increase of a half a demo point, a percentage gain of 20.8%.

Do they still look at DVR numbers these days?

mswood:
Yes, DVR makes up a huge part of the majority of shows audience, even if it brings in considerable less revenue.  Most shows about 35- 45% of its total audience is from DVR viewers, and that includes TAR.

But since DVR results are included in Live Same Day numbers (the ones report by news sites, newspapers, blogs, here), most people don't realize how large it actually is.

CBS Sunday Live Only numbers in adults 18-49 (From the fall)
60 Minutes - 2.2 adults 18-49 (Heavily impacted by NFL overruns)
Amazing Race - 1.9 adults 18-49
The Good Wife - 1.4 adults 18-49
Mentalist - 1.5 adults 18-49

TOTAL DVR AUDIENCE for those shows
60 Minutes - .3 (only 12% of its overall audience, 66% of that DVR audience is from the original air date)
Amazing Race - 1.2 (40% of its total audience is from DVR of which, 58% of that DVR use is from the original date)
Good Wife - .8 (36% of its total audience is from DVR, 38% of that DVR use if from the original air date)
Mentalist - 1.2 (45% of its total audience is from DVR,  25% of that DVR use is from the original air date)

Some very popular shows have even greater percentage of their audience from DVR

Big Bang Theory 52% of their total audience is from DVR use
Grey's Anatomy 54% of their audience is from DVR
The Following 54% from DVR
Once Upon a Time 50%  from DVR
Modern Family 57% from DVR
