Maybe not, since Phil checked in the reunited teams in a placement order and the team that finished the tent task was given a better placement than the other team. So that may avoid the problem.

I think simply ignoring result of leg 7 in counting average is easier
As they are deviant results

Can’t do that for completeness’ sakes. But I’ll need to rewatch that part of the episodes when I can to see if the editing was clear about placement, since a KOR was thrown in as well.

How about this, treating this as a tied condition, i.e. treating Jody and Skiers as tied for 5th, Yales / Twins tied for 3rd and Indy / Ocean rescue as tied for 1st?

Or vice versa, by the order which swapped teams arrived first, like Cody & Jen were first, so Cody & Jessica and Kristi & Jen are tied for 1st. It's all up to you.

In my opinion, using the lower order of finish as placement can better reflect the order for teams to leave the mat and head to the W-turn
Marionete:
You might wanna stick to the solution you described before the episode, but if I were you, I would write the placements the same way Phil checked the original teams in, as is listed on the wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amazing_Race_30

That's part of what I am trying to verify. The chyron at that point was a bit confusing and the editing of Phil at the mat wasn't all that helpful. And CBS.com has nothing about the leaderboard at all.
